    Beschreibung: The revitalization and intercultural teaching of indigenous knowledge presents challenges for the educational and intercultural system; challenges that involve not only curricular content, but also methodologies. From here we see, for example, that the Chilean educational system is formal and largely based on writing, while the knowledge of indigenous peoples places emphasis on informal learning contexts and oral transmission. This book is the result of intercultural dialogues that occurred at the Federico Santa María Technical University, Valparaíso, Chile, while the possibility of having a new Constitution for the country was debated. We present it here with the hope of contributing to the discussions on the reformulation of the educational system in order to undo traditional asymmetries and install interculturality at the very core, paving the way for a society where interethnic and interlinguistic relations are not circumstantial or a mere decoration. cultural.

    Beschreibung: La relación médico-paciente está sometida a varias presiones. La financiación de la asistencia sanitaria puede determinar tanto la percepción colectiva del acceso a los recursos sociales (prestaciones económicas, centros de atención especializada, ayudas a domicilio, entre otros) como la prescripción de medicamentos y de pruebas complementarias. Además de las prioridades del financiador o de los beneficiarios de los resultados económicos, las campañas publicitarias influyen también en el criterio del paciente, al que la industria farmacéutica halaga convenciéndolo de que posee conocimientos de medicina y de que es un consumidor con el poder de escoger, cuando en realidad decide porque tiene los medios económicos para pagar su elección. En este libro se analizan las razones que empujan a los profesionales de la sanidad hacia una parcialidad interesada, así como las consecuencias éticas que ello tiene sobre el individuo y sobre la eficiencia del sistema sanitario.

    Beschreibung: El título de esta obra Originales e inéditos 1928. José Carlos Mariátegui es, en cierta medida, atrevido, por cuanto se considera que las obras completas, es decir, todos los escritos de Mariátegui están publicados, según se tiene conocimiento. Pese a dichas publicaciones, las lecturas de sus fuentes directas (léase, revistas de 1928) prospera ron y tomaron dimensiones para la decisión de compilar los escritos y cotejar con las posteriores publicaciones. Entendemos por inédito lo no publicado y estaría en contradicción si las obras de Mariátegui hubieran sido publicadas en su totalidad. Pero existe un enigma para los que desean leer y confiar en esa llamada totalidad. No hay nada más inquietante para un acucioso lector que indagar las fuentes directas como si en la indagación se tratara de manuscritos, y estas fuentes, indudablemente, son los primeros escritos de Mariátegui en distintas revistas de su época (consideramos aquí 1928). Y esta edición crítica nos presenta la compilación de los escritos de Mariátegui poco conocidos, digámoslo de alguna manera, como «manuscritos» o «inéditos», porque fueron archivados, y no tuvieron la disposición de su reedición. No nos plantearemos sus razones, sólo dejamos constancia de ello como un acto irresoluto.

    Beschreibung: Lo auténtico, como lo autóctono, aparece vinculado a la localidad, pero la globalización la ha vaciado de gran parte de su población autóctona, ha vuelto obsoletas sus formas productivas y ha modificado su estilo de vida. La repuesta de las poblaciones locales consiste a menudo en la creación o recreación de formas “tradicionales, “auténticas” en ámbitos tales como el patrimonio, los museos, las fiestas, la arquitectura, la gastronomía, y la identidad.     Beschreibung: This book suggests the importance of examining alternative discourses in the social sciences, in this case economics, beyond western-centric cultural milieu. The account attempts to unveil the existence of a post Second World War economic approach developed in Latin America. The perspective questioned the dominant economic science disseminated within and outside the Anglo-Saxon or Eurocentric countries (western-centric academia) during the 1950´s. Today, after the appalling cataclysms in welfare and equality generated by neoclassical economics, an alternative economics seems order in the Northern and Southern hemisphere. The rebirth of Latin American Structuralism within the developing countries, and the widely publicized names of Raúl Prebisch, Celso Furtado among others, within the western-centric audiences requires an up to date of the vocabulary and concepts. Retrospectively these authors discussed can be examined as the original sources in Latin America among those who developed the basis of decolonial thought. The book problematizes the domestication of Latin American Structuralism in the Northern or Southern hemisphere alike and discusses its potential similarities to Post-Keynesian perspectives related to power asymmetries among countries, firms, and heterogenous agents.

    Beschreibung: The preparation of this book coincided with the end of two years of social coexistence in the midst of a global pandemic. This health reality has been thought, analyzed and addressed in the international literature through multiple axes (health systems, employment, care, daily life, etc.), reporting, as general conclusions, that we show a radicalization of pre-existing social inequalities in contemporary society. The situation represented a field of experimentation for capital, and an open scenario of overlaps and tensions between "life" and regimes focused on profits. The contradictions of establishing a sense of collaboration between the health of the population and the interests of companies, led to hard-fought and tense examples of ways to generate government practices focused on care, confinement and non-mobility. In the framework of these circumstances, the research task was also conditioned, when not affected. This book brings together a set of productions completed in recent years. Behind their different articles, motivations, expectations, reflections and silent experiences of how each of the authors made writing compatible in a pandemic context are intermingled.

    Beschreibung: This work reconstructs the political-intellectual trajectory of the Socialist Party of Chile between 1932 and 1973, reviewing its emergence and development in national political life through key moments for the development of party reflection. As stated in its pages, these moments frequently exceeded the limits of party life, being linked to events and processes typical of the global, continental and national political development of the 20th century. It is argued that during the period in question there were a series of debates that accounted for different stages in the organizational, social and intellectual development of contemporary Chilean socialism. These debates were framed in three key concepts that were frequently discussed throughout the trajectory: class, anti-imperialism and revolution. At different times, and with different meanings, the trends defined themselves and their organization as class, anti-imperialist and revolutionary, without there being a consensus on the political and programmatic scope of these definitions.

El marco temporal de esta pesquisa abarca desde 1939 cuando se establece la producción sostenida de películas con sonido óptico en el país y 1973, cuando el golpe de Estado cívico-militar destruyó todos los pilares del campo cultural en Chile y muchos cineastas y compositores partieron al exilio. Este trabajo se propone desafiar la historiografía y la investigación existente poniendo el acento en la dimensión sonora del cine chileno.     Beschreibung: La gestación por sustitución es una forma alternativa de acceder a la paternidad o maternidad, en el marco de las técnicas de reproducción humana asistida. Se trata de una práctica cada vez más frecuente, pues se estima que en la actualidad nacen unos veinte mil niños cada año como consecuencia de un acuerdo de este tipo. Esta obra expone la realidad de esta práctica, la gran cantidad de jurisprudencia nacional e internacional existente, las distintas opciones legales que recoge el derecho comparado y los conflictos que pueden suscitarse debido a la falta de regulación. Al mismo tiempo, propone una legislación que permita y regule explícitamente dicha práctica, que concilie los derechos en juego y sea acorde al interés superior del niño nacido bajo esas circunstancias. El libro analiza en profundidad la gestación por sustitución, sus orígenes, modalidades y tendencias, haciendo especial hincapié en los distintos tipos de familia que genera y en los importantes cambios que comporta en materia de filiación.

    Beschreibung: The volume that the reader has in his hands (or on his screen) constitutes a selection of the studies presented at the international congress “1820. The Illusion of Freedom. Revolutionary liberalism in Spain and America in the 1920s ”, held in Las Cabezas de San Juan and Seville in March 2020, as a way to reflect (and celebrate, of course) the bicentennial of the revolution that began the so-called Liberal Triennium Spanish. The anniversary functioned as an excuse to analyze relevant problems of the present. In this case, the congress returned to the links between a stagnant society, which had nothing else to offer, and one of the most important revolutions that took place in the Iberian Peninsula. This was done through the presentation of a set of investigations that addressed the economic, political, social and cultural aspects of the Spanish revolution of 1820, and that crossed the Ibero-American world in the first half of the 19th century. It was a collective effort, which we hope we have embodied in this compilation.

El liberalismo revolucionario en España y América en los años veinte”, realizado en Las Cabezas de San Juan y Sevilla en marzo de 2020, como forma de reflexionar (y celebrar, por supuesto) el bicentenario del Trienio Liberal español, atendiendo no sólo a sus implicancias en la Península Ibérica, sino especialmente a su impacto en América. La efeméride funcionó, entonces, como una excusa para analizar problemas relevantes del pasado y el presente. En este caso, los vínculos entre una sociedad estancada, y que ya nada más tenía para ofrecer, y una de las revoluciones más importantes que se desenvolvió a lo largo y ancho de Iberoamérica. Esto se hizo por medio de la presentación de un conjunto de investigaciones que atendieron a los aspectos económicos, políticos, sociales y culturales de la revolución de 1820. Se trató de un esfuerzo colectivo, que esperamos haber plasmado en esta compilación.

    Beschreibung: El siglo XX ha sido llamado el " siglo del genocidio" por el número de genocidios y de víctimas, que un especialista ha evaluado en sesenta millones, pero también por la acuñación del término genocidio por Lemkin, la celebración de la Convención de la ONU sobre el Genocidio (1948), que lo definió como un crimen universal e imprescriptible, y la creación de diversos Tribunales internacionales. La antropología en general ha prestado poca atención a este tema complejo y de dimensiones trágicas y se ha centrado más bien en el estudio de etnocidio, es decir, la destrucción de la cultura de un grupo humano. En este texto, por el contrario, se plantea el papel de la cultura, de un matriz cultural compuesta por concepciones de procreación, monoteísmo y nación o pueblo, representadas mediante relatos de inicio, personificaciones y símbolos, en el exterminio de grupos humanos específicos. Probablemente la contribución más importante del texto estribe en la perspectiva adoptada, es decir, en el planteamiento comparativo de la relación entre cultura, estado y genocidio. El estudio de este tema se trata de un objeto de estudio no sólo de importancia científica, sino también ética.

    Beschreibung: This book analyzes the theoretical and political positions of the Social Democratic Federation (SDF) against imperialism in the context of the Second Boer War, taking into consideration the following components: colonialism, in the sense of the SDF's assessment of the European colonial expansion and the reality of colonial peoples, in this case the situation of the Boer people and the native populations of South Africa; colonial politics, understood as the discussions of the government of the colonies, whether the possibility of establishing some type of imperial federation or the need to abandon them; imperialism itself, which included debates on the economic causes of the expansion of powers and its character as a generalized policy of bourgeois states or phase of capitalism; the imperialist war and national defense in the sense of the possibility of a war between the European powers and the need to defend Great Britain and its possessions and, the second Boer war itself, which implies taking into account the causes attributed to the conflict, the positions of the different party members (supporting or condemning the conflict) and the means to stop it.

    Beschreibung: This text focuses on the PS during the 17 years of dictatorship that followed the coup that violently ended the Popular Unity government. The Pinochet regime subjected the PS to the traumatic task of recomposing itself in the midst of extreme repression, clandestinity, the exile diaspora and the intense debate around the causes of the defeat, the alternatives of the anti-dictatorial struggle and the possibilities and paths of a socialist project in Chile. The period is long and contains both continuities and deep transformations in Chilean socialism, which we have arranged, for analytical purposes, in three moments or cycles. Each cycle is characterized by being centered on certain debates and conditioning factors that determine the partisan dynamics of the organic socialists. The very historical development of each cycle implies its overcoming and the passage to another cycle with different distinctive characteristics.

    Beschreibung: In April 1957, a social revolt of unprecedented magnitudes in the history of Chile occurred. The proportion of the population involved was immense, and important parts of the city were seen for hours and even days, outside the control of the State. The dawn of metropolitan Santiago was illuminated with burning barricades, which were nothing more than the signs of street fighting, looting, fires, and finally the flashes of police and military carbines, rifles and machine guns. Six months later, in the southern part of the city, where Santiago was gradually dissolving beyond the Zanjón de La Aguada, thousands of poor homeless families occupied and took over the former La Feria farm, and from there they founded the current town. The victory. Both events are precipitations of complex processes of radicalization and popular politicization. Taken together, the events of 1957 constitute a milestone of rupture and strategic leap in the historical composition of the proletarian universe of Santiago.

Para esto, se analizan las redes intelectuales que permitían la difusión del pensamiento a nivel general en América Latina, así como los lazos que habían establecido los intelectuales miristas con sus símiles latinoamericanos. A la par, se definen los roles que cumplían en la organización dichos intelectuales, así como la existencia de una política del MIR sobre este sujeto específico. En términos más amplios, interesa saber de qué manera el pensamiento social latinoamericano aportó a la definición del MIR y cómo la organización revolucionaria aportó, a su vez, al pensamiento político local.

    Beschreibung: Este libro propone un modo de interpretación de la literatura policial basado en el materialismo histórico y a partir de la categoría de delito, que aparece en los textos como una rama productora de ganancias y relaciones sociales. En las novelas del escritor argentino Juan Carlos Martelli (1934-2008) que analizamos -Gente del Sur, Getsemaní, Los tigres de la memoria, El Cabera, La muerte de un hombrecito y Los muros azules- la transgresión se revela en la forma de “delitos organizados”, instalada en lo social a partir de corporaciones delictivas atravesadas por la traición. A su vez, los mecanismos de la producción literaria pueden resignificarse interpretando alegóricamente la matriz de lectura del género policial, revelando una zona de interferencias entre la literatura y la propiedad, un conjunto de transgresiones en la red discursiva. La perspectiva de la hermenéutica materialista impulsa a abordar los objetos culturales transformando cada práctica interpretativa en un modo de confrontar la ficción con los conflictos económicos y políticos, en dirección a un conocimiento y una praxis socialmente emancipadora.

    Beschreibung: The Christian Democratic Party has been a key piece in the more general insertion of Chilean politics in the great political-ideological trends that dominated the second half of the 20th century. During the past century, relations between external and Chilean political actors were framed in the context of great processes and dilemmas of global relevance: the Cold War and the more general competition between holistic social projects, the emerging concern for human rights, the experience of post-dictatorial transitions in Southern Europe, among others. These external actors played a very relevant role in promoting the political exit strategy from the Chilean dictatorship which, by converging with internal factors, had an important impact in determining the guidelines of the transition. Local political actors, such as the PDC, far from being pieces in the hands of external referents, played a leading role, using their international networks to consolidate and consolidate their political project. Unlike other works that have addressed the international dimension of the transition, the focus of this book is not the economic or the ideological aspects, but rather the political centrality of an actor, the Christian Democratic Party, and the capacity that it it had to consolidate at the international level its position of reference for the return to democracy in Chile.

    Beschreibung: With a marked revolutionary and workerist phraseology with libertarian overtones, the first revolutionary unionists in Argentina came from within the Socialist Party led by Juan B. Justo, within which they had challenged their growing electoral and parliamentary orientation, under the influence of the new ideas that they were beginning to gain ground in the French and Italian labor movement. At the beginning of the 20th century, intense social struggles in Argentina catalyzed this process of political differentiation, in the context of the first general strikes and direct confrontations with the state and the ruling class. During the following years, revolutionary syndicalism unfolded as a dynamic and ductile current within a recently formed, heterogeneous and highly ethnically fragmented labor movement. The book that we present here continues and advances on the investigations carried out in the last period, providing a set of original works that examine little-reported aspects of the Creole revolutionary syndicalist current during the period prior to the first government of Hipólito Yrigoyen (1916-1922), the mandate itself and the subsequent moment, already under the presidency of Marcelo T. de Alvear (1922-1928). Starting from a careful study of primary sources, the chapters investigate aspects such as: the syndicalist political formation prior to 1916; militancy and organization in the wood industry; the activation of revolutionary unionism among rural workers; the link between trade unionism and the world of women's work; the positions and struggles within the current around the state project of legal status for unions.

    Beschreibung: Esta colección tiene como objetivo publicar volúmenes que expresen las reuniones de figuras de diferentes regiones del Sur. Especialmente, reuniendo trabajos presentados allí donde estas personas han realizado sus exposiciones e intercambiado sus ideas cara a cara y voz a voz. Por ello, no se trata simplemente de reunir artículos procedentes de diversas regiones de personas que nunca se conocieron, sino mostrar estas reuniones y potenciar otros encuentros, con publicaciones que les otorguen nuevo impulso. La publicación viene a ser un acto segundo, respecto del encuentro físico. Articular las intelectualidades de los sures es una tarea inmensa, que ha tenido sucesivos fracasos y algunos pequeños logros. El mayor obstáculo para articularnos ha sido la falta de interés que mostramos unas por otras, cuestión derivada del desconocimiento mutuo, del aislamiento y del peso desmedido que, en los imaginarios, poseen las intelectualidades del centro. A esto se suman, en segundo plano, la escasez de recursos económicos y cierta debilidad de las instituciones académicas. Los trabajos publicados en esta colección normalmente no se traducirán, precisamente para reconocer y explicitar que estas conversaciones obligatoriamente deberán darse de forma políglota, aunque normalmente se trate de las lenguas de las colonizaciones.

Primero, que la Vía Chilena al Socialismo tuvo, como fundamento y hegemonía principal, la coherencia de la línea política trazada por el Partido Comunista de Chile desde el Frente del Pueblo (1952) hasta la Unidad Popular (1969-70) y, segundo, que dada la derrota de tal Vía por el golpe militar de 1973, este Partido tenía que reconsiderar lo que ya antes había eludido: la adopción del componente militar como factor permanente de su estrategia política. Publicado en inglés hace más de veinte años, la presente traducción del textó de Furci es, a la vez, una recuperación para la historiografía política nacional, una forma de refrescar las tribulaciones de la izquierda chilena durante el siglo XX y, por sobre todo, un modo de acercarnos y evaluar, con los ojos de nuestro presente, la intensidad de un proceso.

    Beschreibung: En su obra Les Chasseurs-cueilleurs ou l’origine des inégalrtés (1982), Alain Testart insiste en el papel que la práctica del almacenamiento pudo haber cobrado en el origen de las desigualdades en el seno de los grupos humanos, en particular entre las bandas de cazadores recolectores y, especialmente, aquellas más o menos sedentarizadas. En un artículo famoso, Kent V. Flannery (1973), por su parte, afirmaba que la aparición del modo de vida sedentario más había tenido que ver con la invención de las fosas de almacenaje que con la de la agricultura. Eso ejemplifica el carácter central que tuvo el acto de almacenar en diferentes contextos de la historia humana universal. No cabe duda de que, en la Mesoamérica prehispánica también, el almacenaje desempeñó un papel importante. Sin embargo, la arqueología y la etnohistoria no han prestado mucha atención al tema y a los vestigios -de hecho a menudo efímeros- que pueden hablar de este aspecto esencial de la vida económica y social. Al revisar datos procedentes de diferentes partes del Norte y Centro del México antiguo -desde Chihuahua hasta Morelos y Puebla, pasando por Michoacán y la Cuenca de México-, este volumen pretende empezar a llenar un vacío. Por otra parte, más allá de la simple recopilación de informaciones factuales, sus páginas introducen a discusiones fundamentales sobre las múltiples cuestiones que el estudio del almacenamiento en sociedades del pasado lleva a abordar: sus aspectos tecnológicos, pero también económicos, sociales y políticos, en otras palabras su dimensión antropológica.

    Beschreibung: The Second International marked a stage in the history of the labor movement characterized by the formation of mass parties, the growth of trade unions, the development of numerous social organizations and the constitution of an international sphere for the circulation of ideas. In this paper we comparatively investigate the debates on imperialism of two of its most important parties, the German (SPD) and French (SFIO) Social Democracy. We inquire into his analysis of European colonial expansion, the causes of imperialism, and the prospects for a war between the powers. In turn, we examine their political action around these issues and the positions on imperialism of their main internal tendencies, weighing their impact on party politics. Both organizations debated and positioned themselves on these issues within the framework of an agitated political situation marked by wars of conquest, episodes of rebellion in the colonies and various war crises between European states. The contradictory development of these debates is an important factor in explaining the different reactions in these parties to the First World War and the subsequent split of international socialism between communists and reformists.
