    Beschreibung: Jorge Millas. Aproximaciones a su obra, es el título que, según creemos, se ajusta de mejor modo al contenido de este libro. Los artículos que lo componen son, justamente, “aproximaciones” a los libros de Millas. Aproximaciones, pues no se trata de estudios exegéticos ni exhaustivos, ni de interpretaciones de conjunto de su producción escrita. Se trata, más bien, de textos que se acercan, que se avecinan o que tantean la obra del filósofo chileno. Textos, en gran medida, ensayísticos, abiertos, por lo tanto. Esperamos, pues, que el conjunto de estas aproximaciones contribuya al conocimiento, al estudio, a la difusión y a la discusión de su pensamiento. Nuestro sincero agradecimiento a todos quienes hicieron posible esta publicación: a sus autores y autoras, y a la editorial por haber acogido este proyecto.

    Beschreibung: La presente obra, fruto de iniciativas que reúne a varias universidades y especialistas del país, aparece cuando se está cumpliendo un siglo del surgimiento de la historia de las elaciones internacionales como subdiscipli- na histórica. Por lo mismo, nos ha parecido relevante significar esta conmemoracion abordando un tema que hunde sus raices en el propio campo de estudios aludido. En efecto, mucho se ha escrito sobre el Tratado de 1904, tanto en Chile como en Bolivia, de ahí que ya vemos una sérié de estudios recientes que han ido aclarando ese proceso. El présente libro, por eso mismo, no trata del acuerdo en sí, sino de su relevancia como hito de un cambio decisivo en la trayectoria de Chile como vence- dor de la Guerra del Pacífico, hasta 1929.

    Beschreibung: The history of Trotskyist tendencies after Trotsky remains, more than 80 years after Trotsky's death, largely terra incognita or, more accurately, a bazaar for all manner of sects to sell their myths. Only once in a while does a work emerge that takes the history of Trotskyism out of the realm of mythology and provides us with the elements we need to reconstruct the actual experience of Trotskyist militants in a given time and place. In this sense, this brief work has no other purpose than to provide a general overview of international experiences linked to Trotskyism in the second half of the 20th century in order to advance in a circumstantial understanding of its history and development.

    Beschreibung: In April 1957, a social revolt of unprecedented magnitudes in the history of Chile occurred. The proportion of the population involved was immense, and important parts of the city were seen for hours and even days, outside the control of the State. The dawn of metropolitan Santiago was illuminated with burning barricades, which were nothing more than the signs of street fighting, looting, fires, and finally the flashes of police and military carbines, rifles and machine guns. Six months later, in the southern part of the city, where Santiago was gradually dissolving beyond the Zanjón de La Aguada, thousands of poor homeless families occupied and took over the former La Feria farm, and from there they founded the current town. The victory. Both events are precipitations of complex processes of radicalization and popular politicization. Taken together, the events of 1957 constitute a milestone of rupture and strategic leap in the historical composition of the proletarian universe of Santiago.

    Beschreibung: Este libro ha pretendido ser una historia del pensamiento de las regiones que, en los últimos 300 años, se asumen como intelectualmente periféricas. Ha pretendido serlo, pero no lo es. Ha debido contentarse, a través sucesivas “re-estructuraciones”, con ser la presentación y defensa de la hipótesis siguiente: la manera más comprensiva de entender el pensamiento emergido en las regiones periféricas durante los últimos siglos -regiones en general sometidas a procesos de invasión o colonización- consiste en la disyuntiva ser-como-el-centro versus ser-nosotros-mismos. Este problema se lo ha planteado la intelectualidad suramericana, la africana y la asiática, como también la eslava, la balcánica y la ibérica, de esta poca. En consecuencia, se ha limitado a mostrar múltiples trazos que contribuyan a probar esta hipótesis.
