    Description: People with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) have a particular sensory sensitivity, causing their surrounding environment to affect the quality of life significantly. It is called a “spectrum”, because there is a great variety of behaviours making it difficult to define universal and design criteria. These behaviours do however require a new dynamic and flexible approach, enabling the customization of the feedback to the project. Starting from the study of the specific needs of users, the environmental conditions and the design approaches, this research aims at providing innovative tools to support the design of “therapeutic” environments which could reduce the discomfort and stress related to the person’s enablement, in order to include them in the social community within an integrated life project, concerning “home”, applied living spaces (school, work, day centres...) and emergency conditions with respect to treatments.

    Description: What does it mean to design hospitals according to the flows while satisfying the users' needs? How do the different parts of the hospital body bind together? When can a spatial and functional relationship be rightly defined as close, adjacent or distant? How difficult is it to walk along a connection? The volume reconstructs the state of the art on the theme of people flows in hospitals, and identifies tools to support the project and management of the flow system within hospitals. In particular, it presents the innovative approach Space Syntax, born in the Anglo-Saxon world and used for highly complex building projects. The book offers an original contribution in a sector in which the need for studies combining research and professional activity has arisen.

    Description: La Dordogne, anciennement Périgord, est située dans l’historiographie en périphérie de la zone des familles souches du Sud-Ouest. Le mode de transmission et de reproduction familiale permet de comprendre comment s’organise la famille et comment se nouent les liens en son sein. Outre les relations juridiques, économiques, patrimoniales, est-il possible d’approcher les relations d’ordre affectif? L’étude porte sur les familles ayant vécu dans le village de Saint-Léon-sur-l’Isle, entre 1780 et 1839. Une lecture très fine des sources, notamment des actes notariés, met en évidence les logiques de comportement et leur évolution pendant une période de bouleversements qui malmènent les équilibres familiaux. Elle livre également un aperçu de l’intimité familiale, celle du couple en particulier.

The results of research conducted with the support of funds from Florence University have been transformed into an updated handbook on the new design concepts and methods for the development of passenger terminals.     Description: L’étude de la famille dans le Nord de l’Afrique, et dans les sociétés musulmanes, a connu ces quinze dernières années des développements fort intéressants en raison des transformations des codes familiaux, ainsi que du déploiement de nouvelles technologies dans le domaine de la reproduction et des questions bioéthiques qui l’accompagnent (Bras, 2007 ; Bonte, Benkheira, 2009-2010 ; Clarke, 2009 ; Fortier, 2010 ; Voorhoeve, 2012 ; Benkheira et al., 2013). Celles-ci traduisent par ailleurs des mutations sociétales importantes et profondes (augmentation de la population urbaine, de l’accès à l’éducation et du travail salarié féminin, notamment) et une relecture des normes islamiques et/ou traditionnelles/coutumières, notamment en matière d’égalité entre hommes et femmes. Toutefois, alors qu’une vaste littérature aborde le sujet des transformations de la famille en Europe et ailleurs, sous l’angle de la parentalité (parenthood) – repenser la famille à partir de l’enfant et de son bien-être –, force est de constater que les travaux dans cette perspective sont rares s’agissant des sociétés du Nord de l’Afrique, et plus largement des sociétés musulmanes. Cet ouvrage constitue donc une contribution à l’étude de la parentalité en Afrique musulmane, avec un focus particulier sur les pays de l’Afrique du Nord. L’objectif, ici, est de renouveler les questionnements, les perspectives et les analyses s’agissant des constances et des transformations des liens familiaux en contexte musulman africain. Les directeurs de la publication souhaitent remercier Sabrina Mervin, l'ancienne directrice du Centre Jacques Berque, pour le soutien apporté au programme à l'origine de cet ouvrage collectif.

    Description: The pandemic crisis has made increasingly relevant and urgent to reflect on the way our cities are organised, on an intra-urban scale. The book aims to bring to the reader's attention the theme of urban neighbourhoods, approaching it from a sociological point of view. The first two chapters outline the theoretical and analytical framework of the neighbourhood approach, contextualising social capital in a differentiated urban dimension within it and recognising the specificity of places and territories in which collective life is organised. In the central chapters, declined in more applicative terms, the reflection focuses on spatialisation of public housing and social mix in the city of Bologna; on residential practices and strategies in the Scampia district (Naples), from which the dynamics of an informal real estate market of social rents emerge. The book continues with an action-research on neighbourhood effect and equity in the right to health within the urban context of Bologna. The final chapter is dedicated to the sustainable city and the importance of neighbourhoods in facing the global challenge of climate change.

    Description: La corrida et le rodéo, les deux seuls affrontements homme-bovin mondialement connus, sont de lointains cousins dont les relations historiques et formelles interrogent les processus de transformation de la culture entre l'Europe et l'Amérique. Cette étude de géographie culturelle envisage toutes les pratiques tauromachiques, des courses de taureaux du sud-ouest européen à l'immense famille des rodéos nord et sud-américains. Les jeux, les fêtes et les spectacles sont analysés comme des marqueurs territoriaux et comme des moyens d'expression identitaire qui prennent forme et signification les uns par rapport aux autres. Il en résulte une mosaïque territoriale complexe où les relations homme-bovin véhiculent des sentiments d'appartenance dont les clivages et les solidarités s'expriment à l'échelle d'une aire culturelle transatlantique.

    Description: The volume explores the category of urban spaces that are self-managed by the inhabitants and can be recognized as common goods: urban communities. These are defined as third spaces (neither public nor private) and recognized on the basis of seven characteristics. Furthermore, some proposals are made on how planning can adequately treat these places, through the comparison with some municipal policies and on the basis of the self-determination of experiences in order to build a city really in the hands of its inhabitants.     Description: Dissemination of scientific results is an important and necessary component of research activity. In this context, PhD students, as part of scientific community and young researchers in training, have to understand the rule of publications to define the best strategy for the dissemination of their research. The present book, through the experiences of national and international PhD candidates, PhDs and Professors, is a contribute in the current opened debate on the most effective strategies and related tools to design specific actions, to highlight and improve the peculiar qualities and disciplines of each research.

    Description: Come il mondo ha cambiato i social media è il volume complessivo di comparazione dei risultati di un'ampia indagine etnografica, coordinata da Daniel Miller, dall'eloquente titolo "Why We Post". Nove ricercatori, incluso Miller, hanno trascorso 15 mesi sul campo, in diversi paesi del mondo (Italia del sud, Turchia sudorientale, due siti in Cina, area rurale e area industriale, Trinidad, Inghilterra, India del sud, Cile settentrionale e Brasile) a osservare e studiare, con un approccio etnografico, i modi in cui le persone usano i social media. È un fatto indiscutibile che i social sono entrati nella nostra vita con prepotenza, in modo capillare, per certi aspetti invasivo. Con un linguaggio fluido, talvolta anche colloquiale, il lettore è condotto all'interno di un ambito che gli sembra di conoscere, se non altro perché ne siamo tutti, più o meno, utenti, scoprendo però quanto di valori, di comportamenti culturalmente codificati, di 'polizia morale' ci sia dentro i social media. L'approccio qui presentato parte infatti da un'idea un po' diversa rispetto a quelle più diffuse, e avvalorata nel corso della ricerca: se è indubbio che i social media hanno cambiato il mondo, la questione più interessante riguarda però il modo in cui il mondo li ha cambiati.     Description: This volume presents the research work carried out in the field of survey and representation methodologies for the documentation and analysis of wooden buildings. Thanks to the investigations carried out within a European project financed by the 7th Framework Program, several traditional Karelian villages, reported in this publication as case studies, have been documented with the aim of drawing guidelines for the development of suitable methodological protocols for documentation, analysis , survey, census and representation of complex systems. The research lays the foundations for the definition of an updated modus operandi to support the operators who are engaged in restoration, protection and preservation projects of the wooden architectural heritage.

Dans la première partie du volume, Hans-Jürgen Lüsebrink évoque les changements contemporains qui augmentent les communications interculturelles. Walter Moser examine l’histoire des concepts et explore la possibilité de faire du « transfert culturel » un instrument qui permettrait de rendre compte de la grande mobilité culturelle que nous observons de nos jours à l’échelle mondiale.Pierre Lévy donne à cette exploration conceptuelle la plus grande amplitude en la déplaçant vers le domaine général du transfert des informations.La deuxième partie, « Le transfert et les savoirs », occupe le gros de l’ouvrage. Daniel Simeoni y explore la traductologie en documentant le parallélisme des concepts de traduction et de transfert. Dans la psychanalyse, tant comme site du savoir que comme pratique, le transfert a une longue histoire conceptuelle; Ellen Corin ouvre pourtant le dialogue à d’autres savoirs et disciplines et évoque la possibilité de déplacer latéralement les acquis de sa réflexion vers le domaine de l’anthropologie. En matière de droit criminel, Alvaro Pires explore des questions théoriques et méthodologiques du transfert, étayant ses propos d’exemples. Nicolas Goyer fait la distinction entre le « transfert généalogique » et le « transfert migratoire » pour illustrer la nécessité de contester la priorité qu’on a longtemps accordée au transfert intergénérationnel.La troisième partie explore l’imbrication des transferts et des médias. Timothy Murray explore le new media art, où se croisent le politique, le médiaticotechnologique, le psychanalytique et l’interculturel. Wolfgang Ernst s’interroge sur le « transfert » au confluent de l’ethnologie, l’ethnographie, la muséologie, l’histoire et l’analyse des cultures, en regard de la théorie et de l’histoire des médias.

The acronym of the Monitoring Centre of the Doctorate in Architectural Technology (Osservatorio del Dottorato in Tecnologia dell'Architettura), Osdotta was generated by the need to create a space for cultural exchange in relation to research contents and methods pertinent to technological disciplines. An experience acknowledged as a site of scientific interconnection and networked structure, it sets itself the goal of exploring the complexity of the research on multiple scales, investigating and focusing emerging issues and studying the national training scenario so as to boost the professional level of the research. The 2007 edition of the national seminar demonstrates the consolidation of an inter-site education/training experiment of an innovative character that materialises in the rendering of the results of exchange and dialogue on a theme with a wealth of faceted values: the environment, in the form of a challenge that explores the relation with technology.

    Description: The protection of the environment, the protection of ecological and natural resources, the sustainable enhancement of urban and rural spaces represent unquestionable ethical paradigms and unavoidable realities which the society of the third millennium must face. Environmental protection is accompanied by wider objectives related to the fruition of territorial contexts, under a perspective of active conservation; moreover, the intervention strategies have been modified according to the enhancement of resources and contexts, as well as the development of the specific features of the territory itself. Sustainability analysis as a tool to monitor, reinterpret, develop and enhance a territory, and in particular its natural heritage: this is the main theme of this book which reports the results of a research conducted by an interdisciplinary group sharing the Life Cycle approach. The Life Cycle approach is evolving in a methodology capable of incorporating the local as well as the global dimension, the macro and meso scale together with the product scale, the social dimension as well as the environmental and economic one. So, can such an approach be appropriate and practicable in the sustainability analysis of a territory? To this question, which is specifically directed at environmental aspects, biodiversity and environmental-spatial accessibility, the book intends to give an answer both on the theoretical level and on the practical one, with the introduction of a case study dealing with the territory hosting the Regional Park of Migliarino San Rossore Massaciuccoli in Tuscany. The book provides an overview of the analysis phases and of the indicators supporting the analysis and documents their application at different scales in the context of the Park.
