    Beschreibung: This book presents research results from the international comparative study TIMSS Advanced 2015, which investigates the competence of students taking the most advanced courses in mathematics and/or physics in the last year of upper secondary school. This is the third TIMSS Advanced study in which Norway has participated. As a result, we have good data for analyzing trends in competence from the nineties until 2015 for the students in question, which we may call experts in these subjects.

    Beschreibung: Hvordan utforskes naturen som gave i nordisk litteratur? I antropocen, menneskets tidsalder, blir spørsmålet om menneskets forhold til naturen aktualisert på nytt. Nettopp i en krisetid aktiveres religiøse forestillinger om apokalypse og skapelse, ånd og natur, og en rekke skjønnlitterære forfattere skriver frem naturskildringer preget av en grunnleggende ambivalens. I denne antologien finner du tolv bidrag som undersøker hvordan den nordiske litteraturen utforsker naturen som gave – og som kilde til ambivalens, nåde og skyld. Med et postsekulært utgangspunkt inviterer antologien forskere fra litteraturstudier og teologi til å undersøke ambivalente naturfremstillinger i den nordiske litteraturen. Hva er det mennesket gjør med den naturen vi lenge tenkte vi kunne ta for gitt – men som nå er truet? Og hva gjør klimaendringer og naturtap igjen med vår oppfatning av mennesker og menneskelige relasjoner – også til det mer-enn-menneskelige?     Beschreibung: During the 1920s and 1930s the wordless novel – stories told in black-and-white wordless woodcuts – was established as a narrative genre. The genre was most popular in Germany, but was as well known in other parts of Europé and in the US. The wordless novel was characterized by the absence of words, the use of woodcut and other relief printing techniques, as well as themes of social critique and serious existential issues. The purpose of the book is to - through the wordless novels of the 1920s and 30s - explain the uniqueness of the wordless narrative and thus the autonomous narrative possibilities of the image. The method of the examination is a close reading of the German artist Otto Nückel's wordless novel Schicksal (Destiny 1926). A comparative material consists of the Czech artist Helena Bochořáková-Dittrichova's wordless novel Z Mého Dětství (From My Childhood, 1929). Wordlessness is studied through the image's characteristics as an intermediary of messages and narratives and through comparisons with other expressions - the silent film, cirkus, expressionist dance and visual art, as well as medieval woodcuts. Narratives – which are usually put together by verbal communication – are in this project a tool for seeing: the image sequences or the image groups that ""replace"" the words - not as a lack or implied meaning of words, but as a personal visual story.

    Beschreibung: In 2020, Norway’s national curriculum for primary and secondary school eduction, known as Kunnskapsløftet, came into effect. The plan is marked by increased emphasis on education for sustainability, and a notable example of this is the inclusion of sustainable development as an interdisciplinary topic in most subjects in primary and secondary school. As a result, the focus on sustainabilty has also increased in teacher eduction programs, for preschool as well as primary and secondary school teachers. Furthermore, a number of research networks have been established to explore sustainability in the context of education, and new research and textbooks are being published on this topic. This anthology presents new research on how the subject of sustainability is being handled in schools and preschools today, to all those interested in the topic. Education for Sustainability. Experience and Research from Preschool, Primary and Secondary School can be read as a handbook in sustainable teacher and preschool teacher education, or as a collection of individual research articles that contribute to greater awareness of, focus on and commitment to education for sustainability.
    Beschreibung: I 2020 trådte den nye læreplanen, Kunnskapsløftet (LK 20) i kraft. Planen marker et taktskifte med økt satsing på utdanning for bærekraft. Et synlig uttrykk for dette er at bærekraftig utvikling skal inn som et tverrfaglig tema i de fleste fag i grunnskolen og i videregående skole. Som en følge av dette har fokuset på bærekraft økt både i lærerutdanningen og i barnehagelærerutdanningen. Det er i tillegg etablert en mengde forskningsnettverk som jobber med temaet bærekraft og utdanning, og forskning og nye lærebøker har blitt publisert om temaet. Denne boken presenterer ny forskning om hvordan det jobbes med temaet i skole og barnehage. Boken vil gi ny kunnskap til alle som er opptatt av temaet. Utdanning for bærekraft. Erfaing og forskning fra barnehage og skole kan leses både som en fagbok innrettet mot bærekraftutdanning for lærere og barnehagelærere, og som enkeltstående forskningsbidrag. Artiklene i antologien kan bidra til økt innsikt, engasjement og fokus på utdanning for bærekraft.

    Beschreibung: Servants were for a long time the dominant form of labour in Sweden. To serve, at a farm or at a manor, was ever since the thirteenth century the most common way to make a living, since poor people could by law be forced to accept work for a master. Service hence replaced thraldom in Sweden.In From slaves to servants, historian Martin Andersson explains how the regulations of the servants’ lives were gradually sharpened. Labourers had to become servants under the threats of punishment and forced conscription into the army. Wages were legally reduced, while other forms of making a living were blocked. The master’s right to use physical violence was increased, while the servant’s duty to obey was expanded.By the end of the sixteenth century, most farmhands and maids worked at manors or for the richest of the peasantry. They had consequently minimal chances of themselves becoming masters. Through studies of a rich material of regional law codes, court records, fine registers, royal letters and manuals for manor owners, the historian paints a rich picture of the daily lives of servants – a life formed by legal uncertainty, coercion, and poverty.

    Beschreibung: De Friese adel van de late middeleeuwen opereerde in een niet-feodaal gebied dat lange tijd geen landsheer kende. Hadden de leden, hoofdelingen genaamd, zich uit de boerenstand omhooggewerkt of vormden ze vanouds een gesloten stand? Hoe zat het met hun vermogen? Dit boek zoomt in op Rienck Hemmema en zijn vrouw Ath Roorda. Zij exploiteerden in de jaren 1569-1573 een boerderij in Hitzum onder Franeker. Uit Riencks Rekenboeck blijkt dat hij geen eigenerfde boer was, maar een edelman met een royale levensstijl en meer inkomsten dan uit die ene boerderij. Een ruimtelijke reconstructie van zijn bezit en dat van zijn voorgeslacht toont hoe agrarisch kapitaal per generatie werd gevormd en overgedragen. Dit beeld wordt getoetst aan een Quote 200 uit 1513 en huwelijksakten uit 1450-1550. Een belangrijke conclusie is dat de Friese adel getalsmatig omvangrijk was, met veel families die leefden van twee of drie boerderijen. De figuur van de edelman-boer kwam dus vaak voor.

    Beschreibung: Het Internationaal Instituut voor Sociale Geschiedenis (IISG) is een van de meest vooraanstaande onderzoeksinstituten ter wereld op het terrein van de sociale geschiedenis, zowel in het wetenschappelijk onderzoek als in het verzamelen en beheren van een unieke internationale collectie archieven. Dit boek onderzoekt de geschiedenis van het Instituut van 1935 tot 1989. Centraal staat de ontwikkeling van het Instituut in de richting van een steeds sterkere professionalisering. Een ontwikkeling in wisselwerking met een driehoek van externe invloeden: de politieke en maatschappelijke context; de ontwikkeling van sociale geschiedenis als academische discipline; en het institutionele en bestuurlijke kader. Het is het verhaal van betrokken historici en activisten, die het erfgoed van en uit de arbeidersbeweging en andere emancipatiebewegingen wilden veiligstellen en voor onderzoek beschikbaar maken. Het boek neemt de lezer mee naar spectaculaire reddingsacties van archieven en bibliotheken die bedreigd waren door de opkomst van Hitler, de ineenstorting van het IISG tijdens de bezetting, en de wonderbaarlijke terugkeer van de meeste collecties na de oorlog. Tijdens de wederopbouw volgde een zoektocht naar een plaats in de academische infrastructuur. Intern raakte het Instituut ontregeld tijdens de roerige jaren zestig en zeventig. In de jaren tachtig vond het IISG de weg naar verdere professionalisering zonder zijn oorspronkelijke bestaansrecht en drijfveren uit het oog te verliezen.

    Beschreibung: In recent years, ideas of conscience and the liberty of conscience have become ever more salient in public discourse. Historically, these concepts have been used to mark out a certain scope of freedom and protection in moral, political and legal conflicts. In our time, individual conscience is frequently used to legitimate objections to, for instance, military service and medical interventions like abortion and vaccination. So too in Sweden – a country widely described as one of the most modern and secularized societies in the world. In this volume, a group of researchers in history, human rights, law, ethics and sociology of religion address some of the most central issues around conscience and the liberty of conscience in Sweden from the middle ages to the present. By situating conscience and liberty in wider intellectual, social and political settings, the essays provide alternative ways of thinking about the most intractable problems surrounding these concepts – the relationship between law and morality, the tension between individual and collective freedom, as well as the role of religion in public affairs. This volume will create new avenues of research for scholars and students interested in challenges related to conscience and liberty: both those in ethics, politics and law seeking a historical perspective, and those in history who want to tie their studies to the present.
