Description: The Auerspergs [Turjaški] are among the rare noble families in the Slovenian territory with systematically preserved archives that date back to the Middle Ages. Most archival materials of the family, which was largely embedded in the framework of the Province of Carniola until the end of the 15th century, are presently kept in two private family archives: the Turjak Comital Fideicomiss Archives (Gräflich Auersperg'sches Fideikommisarchiv), first kept in the Turjak Castle until 1942 and now in the Carinthian Provincial Archives in Klagenfurt, and the Turjak Ducal Archives (Fürstlich Auersperg'sches Archiv), which were first moved to the Turjak Palace in Ljubljana and the Lower Austrian Lösensteinleiten Castle and finally ended up in the Viennese Haus-, Hof-, und Staatsarchiv.Turjaška knjiga listin 1 (1218–1400) [Turjak Book of Charters I (1218–1400)] contains 277 charters from the private archives of the Carniolan comital and ducal lines of the Auerspergs [Turjaški]. Published in their entirety, the charters are equipped with Slovenian regests and followed in the end by a comprehensive index of names and pictures of seals from the charters. With the publication of the Turjak charters, Slovenian historiography has gained an indispensable aid for the research of Slovenian medieval and modern history.
Listine so objavljene v celoti, opremljene so s slovenskimi regesti, ob koncu pa sledijo še obsežno imensko kazalo in slike pečatov z listin.

Description: Pristava in Bled belongs among those archaeological sites which, in the extent and inter-connectedness of the information they provide, represent a pattern in which numerous general processes are revealed. In solving the puzzle of Pristava, we are also to a great extent settling altogether the generally unresolved problems of the Eastern Alps in the Early Middle Ages.Firstly, a taphonomic analysis of the settlement is presented. This is followed by a classification of the earthenware and its absolute dating. In order to do this, a completely new dating procedure was developed. Although by no means simple, it has nevertheless proved to be both applicable and successful. It is now generally available and of assistance to all.

Description: Kučar near Podzemelj represents one of the most significant archaeological sites not only in Slovenia but also in the wider southeastern alpine region. It is an extensive complex composed of an Iron Age and Late Roman settlement upon the hill Kučar, as well as numerous necropoli that are distributed throughout the villages of Podzemelj, Zemelj, Škrilje and Grm. The site is well-known all over the world for its elaborate material finds originating from the cemeteries there. The book presents the results from rescue excavations that were carried out between the years 1975 and 1979 on the northern top of Kučar by the Institute for Archaeology. Substantial remains of a settlement dating to the Early and Late Iron Ages (8th –1st centuries BC) were excavated, as well as the even more surprising discovery of an Early Christian building complex (5th century AD) incorporating two churches, a baptistery and a large building with an enclosing wall that was reinforced with two towers. This publication concerning the settlement on Kučar near Podzemelj is the third monograph regarding this site. The first two publications presented the material finds from the Iron Age necropolis, preserved at the National Museum in Ljubljana and at the Museum of Natural History in Vienna. This third publication includes a contribution by Metka Culiberg and Alojz Šercelj on the investigations of organic remains from Kučar.

Description: The first Habsburg estates in Carniola were part of territorial acquisitions in eastern Alpine lands that the ascending dynasty obtained in the war with King Ottokar II of Bohemia towards the end of the thirteenth century and then gradually expanded. Even though the Habsburg dynastic territory had by the 1380s covered almost the entire Carniola, the economic base (landed property, which provided the provincial prince with regular income) was considerably limited. A sizeable portion of the territory was burdened by fiefs and pledges. The redemption of one of the vastest sets of pledged estates in the mid-1430s led to the emergence of account books for the following Carniolan fiscal properties: Kamnik, Gamberk, Goričane, Ig, Višnja Gora, Štatenberk, Novo mesto, Kostanjevica with offices Raka and Vivodina, Pazin, Završje, and Vranja. The account books serve as an extraordinary source for the economic history of the late Middle Ages, by also reflecting the turbulent period of the Habsburg European-wide ascendancy and Frederick’s war with the Counts of Celje. The volume constitutes a critical edition of the account books, with the accompanying discussion in the field of property, administrative and political history.
Přemyslom proti koncu 13. stoletja in so jih kasneje še razširili. Dobršen del ozemlja so bremenili fevdi in zastave. Ob sprostitvi enega od obsežnejših sklopov zastavljene posesti sredi tridesetih let 15. stoletja so nastali obračuni kranjskih komornih gospostev, in sicer za gospostva: Kamnik, Gamberk, Goričane, Ig, Višnja Gora, Štatenberk, Novo mesto, Kostanjevica z uradoma Raka in Vivodina, Pazin, Završje in Vranja. Knjiga prinaša tekstnokritično edicijo obračunov s spremljajočo uvodno razpravo s področja posestne, upravne in politične zgodovine.

Description: Neznano in pozabljeno iz 18. stoletja na Slovenskem [The Unknown and Forgotten from the 18th-Century Slovenian Territory] is the first monograph written by the Slovenian Society of 18th Century Studies and presents the less known phenomena and aspects of the 18th-century Slovenian territory. The monograph was compiled by twenty-three Slovenian and international authors whose contributions discuss numerous areas spanning general, cultural, music, art and literary history. It is divided into several chapters. The introduction, containing the presentation of the Slovenian provinces in the 18th century, serves as the basic starting point and is followed by chapters “Pravna, upravna in cerkvena zgodovina” [“Legal, Administrative and Ecclesiastical History”], “Umetnost in obrt” [“Art and Crafts”], “Kulturna in socialna zgodovina” [“Cultural and Social History”] and “Jezikoslovje” [“Linguistics”]. The monograph, which was published in digital form, is also distinguished by rich pictorial content.

Description: The Bela Peč (Weißenfels) dominion, which encompassed with the exception of the Dovje (Lengenfeld) and Koroška Bela (Kärntner Vellach) the entire area of the Upper Sava Valley, was formed as an independent economic and administrative unit in the middle of the 15th century. The living of the dominion was defined especially by the Alpine world with specific climatic conditions and extensive iron ore deposits. The book contains the edition of two oldest domain urbarium from 1498 and 1636, which offer an excellent economic, demographic and social image of domain, where agrarian and non-agrarian production intensively intertwine. As such it is an interesting starting point for possible further comparative studies not only for the area of present-day Slovenia, but also for the wider eastern Alpine region and Friuli. The edition is accompanied by an extensive study.

Description: Dobra štiri leta po izidu prve izdaje Historične topografije Kranjske z veseljem predajamo v uporabo dopolnjeno izdajo. Odpravljene so bile vse ugotovljene napake in dodatno identificirane nekatere doslej še nerazrešene lokacije.

Description: The book is a text-critical edition of Brixen urbaria for the diocesan estates in Upper Carniola (Bled seigniory) with a comprehensive scholarly commentary and concise presentation of the historical development of the Bled seigniory throughout the Middle Ages. The published sources, offering a rich insight into the property, economic and social conditions of the Middle Ages, belong to the earliest accounts relating to agrarian economy and land property in the Slovenian territory and have, as such, long attracted the interest of the historian profession. This publication, having already been planned decades ago by renown Slovenian historians such as Milko Kos and Pavle Blaznik, naturally completes a series of publications of urbaria for the complexes of ecclesiastical (diocesan) land estates in the territory of Slovenia.

Description: Ormož ranks among the most important archaeological sites in Slovenia. The fortified settlement from the Late Bronze and Early Iron Age extended over the area where the town stands today. It developed on a high-lying terrace on the left bank of the river Drava, which forms a broad bend right at the foothills. This site was intentionally selected, since towards the river it was protected by a steep slope, and to the east and west by relatively deep natural dykes. In the present monograph a survey is given of the results of the excavations which were carried out in Ormož during the period from 1974 to 1981.
Description: Ormož sodi med najpomembnejša arheološka najdišča v Sloveniji.

Description: Publishing medieval charters for Slovenian history is a long-term effort. The first four volumes were still published in the days of the pioneer of the project, Franc Kos (in the period 1902–1915), with the fifth book, published by his son Milko Kos, following somewhat later on. It was only in 2002 that France Baraga published, on the basis of the collected materials, the Central Catalogue of Medieval Charters of Dr. Božo Otorepec from the Milko Kos Historical Institute of ZRC SAZU, the sixth volume of medieval charters encompassing a relatively short period of ten years, 1246–1255. The volume appeared without an index of names, the publication of which has been postponed until today. This book therefore contains an accurate explanatory index of personal and place names, thus completing Baraga’s edition of 295 medieval charters. The book comes with a CD Gradivo za slovensko zgodovino v srednjem veku. 6/1 – Listine 1246–1255. 6/2 – Imensko kazalo [Materials for Slovenian Medieval History. 6/1 – Charters 1246 – 1255. 6/2 – Index of names] and both books in pdf-format.

Description: On 9 November 1456, Ulrich II, the last Count of Celje, was murdered in Belgrade. Not long afterwards, Celje fell under the rule of the Habsburg Emperor Frederick III, who set the new foundations for the city’s autonomy. The account book of the city judges of Celje, which is kept in the Styrian Provincial Archives in Graz – the oldest source of this kind from the territory of the present-day Slovenia – documents in detail the first fifty years of operations and transactions conducted by the new city authorities and brings an abundance of interesting features from the late medieval urban daily life. The source is published in its original language and parallel Slovenian translation, with an added scholarly introduction that provides the reader with an insight into Celje’s self-administration, development and medieval accounting systems, as well as presents the manuscript of the published source, together with the measuring and monetary systems used therein.
Description: Celjska računska knjiga, ki jo hrani Štajerski deželni arhiv v Gradcu, vsebuje zaključne račune celjskih mestnih sodnikov v obdobju 1457–1513. V pomanjkanju originalne listine s podelitvijo celjskih mestnih pravic in drugih pisanih preostankov z začetkov celjske mestne zgodovine gre za temeljni vir za celjsko krajevno zgodovino.;On 9 November 1456, Ulrich II, the last Count of Celje, was murdered in Belgrade. Description: This publication presents fifty-four Hallstatt necropolises from central Slovenia, which are crucial to the course of researching the settlement and social structures of the Early Iron Age. Topographic sources are proffered as well as all the excavated materials, among which are also unique specimens. The book is divided into three parts. The first section extends a review of the history of excavations of Hallstatt tumuli, from the very onset and all through to WWI. It is a comprehensive study of the history of archaeology in Slovenia, posing the development of museology, the heritage protection profession and the professional and scientific efforts of the then investigators. Numerous illustrations of yet unpublished documents, preserved mainly in foreign museums and archives, are incorporated in the text. The second section is dedicated to the issue of chronology and the cultural- historical evaluation of Hallstatt necropolises in the Dolenjska region, which regarding their richness easily compare with the most important of necropolises in neighboring countries. It is precisely the tumulus necropolises from the Dolenjska region that form the foundations for the concept of the southeastern Alpine Hallstatt culture, which during the first millennium BC represented one of the most developed cultures in Europe.
Description: V knjigi je predstavljenih štiriinpetdeset halštatskih nekropol Dolenjske, ki so nadvse pomembne za proučevanje poselitvenih in družbenih struktur starejše železne dobe.

Description: Archaeological sites whose importance extends beyond a Slovenian framework undoubtedly include the Bronze Age settlement of Oloris near Doljni Lakoš. The site was excavated in the eighties by staff of the Regional Museum in Murska Sobota and members of the Institute of Archaeology, ZRC SAZU, from Ljubljana.
Description: Prostrana ravnica ob vznožju Lendavskih goric, prek katere so že od nekdaj vodile pomembne poti, skriva bogate kulturne ostaline.

Description: The monograph presents the settlement of north-eastern Slovenia during the Late Bronze Age. It is divided into three parts. The first brings an analysis of the settlements, cemeteries, hoards and stray finds, i.e. all the structures that define the cultural landscape. The analysis shows a relatively dense habitation in the Early Bronze Age, followed first by a lull and then a peak, with the settlement network becoming densest towards the end of the second millennium BC.This is followed by a discussion on the typochronology of the pottery from the Bronze Age settlements at Ormož, Ptuj and Gornja Radgona. The last chapter of the first part offers an overview of the Late Bronze Age in north-eastern Slovenia and presents the living conditions, the process of forming centres, the economic basis as well as the contacts with distant places. The second and third parts of the book present the field investigations and finds from Grajski grič in Ptuj and Grajski hrib in Gornja Radgona. These two important hilltop settlements represented, together with the fortified settlement at Ormož, important Bronze Age centres in the settlement network of north-eastern Slovenia.
