    Description: Bei schweren Gesundheitsbeeinträchtigungen treten häufig kritische Situationen auf, die die Betroffenen, aber auch die Angehörigen und Pflegenden vor besondere Herausforderungen stellen. Dieser Band untersucht solche Situationen in der klinischen Pflege und analysiert unterschiedliche Perspektiven der Beteiligten sowie vielfältige Methoden der professionellen Pflege. Insbesondere Familienmitglieder – Mütter, Väter, Partnerinnen, Partner, Kinder und Geschwister – wollen Einfluss nehmen können, informiert, einbezogen und beteiligt sein. Bei ihnen variieren die Problemlagen und Wünsche je nach Nähe zu den Betroffenen, nach Lebensalter, Geschlecht oder vorherigen Erfahrungen. Daher werden in diesem Band verschiedene kritische Situationen und Anforderungen analysiert. Diese beginnen vor der Geburt, z. B. bei Risikoschwangerschaften, gehen weiter über den Bereich der Pflege Frühgeborener auf neonatologischen Intensivstationen bis hin zu Situationen in der Kinderintensivpflege und zur Intensivpflege Erwachsener. In der klinischen Pflege wurden – den unterschiedlichen Problemlagen entsprechend – neue und innovative professionelle Konzepte entwickelt. Durch die Beforschung dieser Konzepte lassen sich Schlüsse über deren Eignung oder deren Weiterentwicklung ziehen. Ein Teil der Beiträge prüft die Forschungslage über Literaturanalysen, um Erkenntnisse aus internationalen Studien vorzustellen und für die Pflege im deutschsprachigen Raum zu reflektieren sowie spezifische Forschungsbedarfe zu formulieren. Weitere Beiträge zeigen aufgrund empirischer qualitativer Studien, wie die kritischen Situationen und neu entwickelten Pflegekonzepte durch die Beteiligten wahrgenommen werden. Eine Auswertung der Beiträge durch die Herausgeberin für eine theoretische Weiterentwikklung des Feldes schließt den Band ab.

Das Buch gewährt Einblicke in aktuelle Suchtforschung. In einer Langzeitstudie untersuchten die AutorInnen jugendliche Drogenkonsumenten in der stationären psychiatrischen Behandlung. Die empirischen Befunde liefern Hinweise und Merkmale zu Suchtkarriere, Familienbiographie, zum Grad der Traumatisierung, zu Vorerkrankungen, zum Freizeitverhalten, der Beschaffenheit der sozialen Netzwerke und zu geschlechtsspezifischen Besonderheiten. Abschließend geben die AutorInnen Empfehlungen für die pädagogischtherapeutische Behandlung von jugendlichen Suchtpatienten und -patientinnen. Die Schnittstelle zwischen Jugendhilfe und Psychiatrie wird dabei besonders beleuchtet.

Based on a qualitative research project, the author explores the question of how family members experience return processes and thereby continually create 'family/families'. She analyses the interactions between the actions, feelings and explanations of young people and parents in interaction with the activities of professional actors and the legally coded structures of child and youth welfare. The empirically and theoretically orientated work links important discussions of child and youth welfare research with current concepts of family research. In particular, a relational model of care in private responsibility and in structures of state child and youth welfare interventions is developed. In addition, suggestions for practice are provided.

Die Publikation kontextualisiert in einer interdisziplinär angelegten Analyse die Einzelbriefe anhand von gelehrten Textvorlagen und Wissensbeständen sowie Archivmaterial. Zusätzlich wird eine Edition dieser für die Geschichte des Humanismus hochbedeutenden Quelle geboten. ; Wie konnten Abwesende politische Prozesse im Venedig der Renaissance beeinflussen? Wie wurden entsprechende Praktiken tradiert? Antworten auf diese Fragen gibt die Briefsammlung des Amtsträgers Ludovico Foscarini (1409–1480). Seine Briefe entstanden als Reaktion auf ein Dilemma: Nur als Statthalter und Gesandter konnte Foscarini in der Konkurrenz mit anderen venezianischen Adeligen bestehen. In der Peripherie war er aber von den Verteilungswettkämpfen abgeschnitten, die in der Zentrale in geheimen Abstimmungen abliefen. Kunstvolle Briefe an andere Politiker und politisch einflussreiche Intellektuelle sollten das Problem lösen.     Description: Despite the opposition of two parties - first the Whigs and the Tories, then the Liberals and the Conservatives - 19th century Britain was characterized by a political culture of moderation. The bearers of this political culture were a group of politicians who always sought the middle way between the extremes and were known as Liberal Tories or Liberal Conservatives. This book fills a research gap by examining the development of this British Liberal Conservatism in the period from 1750 to 1850, first looking at Edmund Burke's political philosophy and then showing how the Liberal Tories and Liberal Conservatives who followed him drew on his thinking. It shows how politicians such as George Canning and Sir Robert Peel, based on Burke and the political philosophy of the "Old Whigs", pursued a centrist policy that was always oriented towards the virtues of moderation and prudence. The book thus sheds light on the conservative variant of liberalism that characterized Great Britain throughout the 19th century.

    Description: In dieser qualitativ-rekonstruktiven Studie an der Schnittstelle von qualitativer Bildungs - forschung, Familienforschung und Übergangsforschung untersucht Michael Hermes Bildungsorientierungen im Erfahrungsraum Familie. Im Fokus stehen inter- und intra - generationale Aushandlungsprozesse in der Gestaltung und Erfahrung von Übergängen im Bildungssystem. Untersucht werden Fälle am Übergang von Grundschule zum Gymnasium. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit gilt der Frage, welche Rolle vorhandene Bildungsorientierungen in der Familie spielen. Es entfaltet sich ein Bild vom konjunktiven Erfahrungsraum Familie, in dem biographische Erfahrungen, grundlegende Orientierungen sowie die Familienerziehung ineinander übergehen. Auf der Grundlage von zehn Familienfällen werden unterschiedliche Dimensionen von Bildungsorientierungen unterschieden. Es erfolgt eine detaillierte Rekonstruktion der jeweiligen Erfahrungsräume der Familien. Abseits milieuspezifischer Zuschreibungen steht das jeweilige konjunktive Wissen der Familienmitglieder im Vordergrund der Rekonstruktionen. Es lassen sich Unterschiede zwischen rekonstruierbaren Bildungsorientierungen herausarbeiten, die jedoch jeweils im konjunktiven Erfahrungsraum der Familie verwurzelt sind und kontinuierlich in diesen hinein wirken. Auch durch Übergänge im Bildungssystem wird diese Kontinuität nicht aufgebrochen. Vielmehr sind es die grund - legenden Bildungsorientierungen von Eltern, die in der Erfahrung von Diskontinuität die Art und Weise der Handlungspraxis bestimmen.

This situation reflects what sociological research has attested for years: Civil societies are not necessarily progressive, democratic, and public welfare oriented. They can be reactionary, anti-democratic, and aggressively self-interested. With a view to this ""dark side of civil society,"" the study examines projects of human rights-oriented community work (GWA) designed specifically for such problem constellations. The study examines the conditions for success of socio-spatial processes of change towards a more democratic everyday culture through GWA and develops proposals for their conceptual further development.

    Description: The author examines how young adults of binational origin in Morocco and Switzerland repeatedly establish a subjective balance between national discourses of belonging, social processes of inclusion and exclusion, and their own adolescent individuation needs. By means of autobiographical narrative interviews with young adults in both countries and by recourse to Erving Goffman's stigma theory, it is shown that a binational origin is not so much an irritation for the young adults themselves, but rather problematized by society and becomes a challenge.

Hier setzte das Forschungsprojekt AMIQUS an, dessen teils überraschende Ergebnisse in diesem Band versammelt sind. Untersucht wurden die Bedingungen und Ressourcen, vor allem aber die Barrieren für eine angemessene Lebensführung im Alter. Die Grundannahme war, dass nachbarschaftliche Unterstützungssysteme zu entwickeln und zu stärken und Prozesse der Selbstorganisation eigener Interessen im Wohnquartier zu unterstützen, ein wesentlicher Schlüssel gesellschaftlicher Teilhabe ist.

    Description: Über 230.000 polnische Juden überlebten den Zweiten Weltkrieg im Inneren der Sowjetunion. Viele waren der nationalsozialistischen Verfolgung durch rechtzeitige Flucht auf sowjetisches Territorium entkommen. Andere wurden gegen ihren Willen von der sowjetischen Geheimpolizei in das Landesinnere der UdSSR verschleppt, wo sie in abgelegenen Siedlungen unter schwierigen Lebensbedingungen Zwangsarbeit verrichteten. Die Mehrheit der polnischen Juden hatte sich allerdings im Rahmen der Evakuierung sowjetischer Staatsbürger 1941–1942 aus den Frontgebieten in den Süden der UdSSR durchgeschlagen. Dort hielten sich die meisten polnisch-jüdischen Exilanten bis zur Rückkehr nach Polen im Jahre 1946 auf.Die Studie untersucht Erfahrungen polnischer Juden im Zeitraum von 1939 bis 1946. Der Fokus liegt dabei auf den Jahren in den zentralasiatischen Sowjetrepubliken, wo hunderttausende polnische Juden täglich um ihr Überleben als Fremde in einem von Krieg, Armut und politischem Terror gezeichneten Land kämpfen mussten. Ihre Geschichte an der »Peripherie des Holocaust« (Yehuda Bauer) erweitert den Horizont jüdischer Erfahrungen im Zweiten Weltkrieg um die Erlebnisse im sowjetischen Exil.

Based on a critically deconstructive pedagogy and on qualitative interviews with lesbian, gay, bi- and heterosexual as well as inter*, trans* and cisgender teachers, the study reconstructs social patterns of interpretation about how they deal with and address diverse lifestyles at school and in the classroom. The study makes an innovative contribution to an area of educational science that has hardly been researched so far and thus provides new impulses for a queer professionalisation of (future) teachers.
    Description: Geschlechtliche und sexuelle Vielfalt ist im Schulalltag zunehmend präsent, nimmt darin jedoch nach wie vor eine prekäre Position ein - dies betrifft nicht nur LGBTIQ*-Kinder und -Jugendliche, sondern ebenso pädagogische Fachkräfte. Ausgehend von einer kritisch-dekonstruktiven Pädagogik rekonstruiert die Studie soziale Deutungsmuster über den Umgang mit und Thematisierung von vielfältigen Lebensweisen in der Schule. Although part-time work is more common in female-dominated occupations, it is mainly occupational working time arrangements that structure men's part-time transitions. Moreover, part-time work leads to significant career disadvantages for men independently from the occupational contexts.
    Description: In den jüngeren Generationen wünschen sich Männer zunehmend ein neues männliches Rollenmodell und mehr Zeit für nicht-erwerbsbezogenen Lebensbereiche. Auch wenn die Teilzeitarbeit von Männern im Laufe der letzten 30 Jahre angestiegen ist, so besteht nach wie vor eine erhebliche Lücke in der Nutzung von Teilzeitarbeit zwischen Männern und Frauen. Vor diesem Hintergrund beschäftigt sich dieses Buch gezielt mit der Frage, welche strukturellen Barrieren für die Teilzeitbeschäftigung von Männern auf der Ebene von Berufen bestehen. Ausgehend von der Lebensverlaufsperspektive werden die Übergänge von Vollzeit- in Teilzeitbeschäftigung, der Wechsel aus Teilzeit- in Vollzeittätigkeiten sowie die Nachteile durch Teilzeitarbeit beim Aufstieg in eine Leitungsposition untersucht. Als strukturelle Einflussfaktoren werden die berufliche Geschlechtersegregation und berufliche Arbeitszeitarrangements in den Blick genommen.
