    Description: Im Mittelpunkt des Buches steht das Erzählen von Musikgeschichten. Exemplarisch werden an der Musikkultur der beiden ›verlorenen Residenzen‹ Edinburgh und Hannover im 18. Jahrhundert neue methodische und darstellerische Ansätze herausgearbeitet. Das Zusammenführen mikro- und makrohistorischer sowie regional- und alltagsgeschichtlicher Erkenntnisse spielt dabei ebenso eine Rolle wie das Entwickeln eines ›multifokalen‹ Blickes auf musikgeschichtliche Phänomene abseits großer Künstler*innen oder kunstliebender Herrscher*innen und fernab des Kanons. Geleitet von der übergeordneten Frage danach, wie Forscher*innen als Autor*innen ihre Ergebnisse finden und präsentieren – wie sie also was warum erzählen –, geht es dabei auch um das Erzielen größtmöglicher wissenschaftlicher Transparenz und um den Einfluss der dabei involvierten Wissenschaftler*innen.

    Description: Der vorliegende Band Schweizer Jahrbuch für Musikwissenschaft empfängt (in Übereinstimmung mit der aktuellen redaktionellen Linie der Zeitschrift) Arbeiten von aktiven schweizerischen und ausländischen Forschern. So wird eine Vielschichtigkeit, nicht nur linguistisch, sondern auch kulturell und methodologisch garantiert, die die wunderbare Vielfalt der Schweizerischen Eidgenossenschaft reflektiert. Im Jahrbuch Nr. 37 berühren die Essays Themen mit antropologisch-kulturellen Ansätzen zur Archivforschung, die vom Mittelalter bis ins 20. Jahrhundert und von der Sakralmusik zur Instrumentalmusik reichen. Sie legen den Schwerpunkt vor allem auf die symbolischen Mechanismen der Parodie in der gesungenen Liturgie (Therese Bruggisser-Lanker), auf die kompositorischen Gründe der Nichtvollendung der 7. Sinfonie von Schubert (Yusuke Takamatsu) und auf die ästhetische Autonomie der Kunst in Krisenzeiten dank den Vergleichen von verschiedenen künstlerischen Erfahrungen in der Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts (Klaus Heinrich Kohrs). Die Briefe des berühmten Komponisten aus der französischen Schweiz, Gustave Doret, an wichtige französische Musiker (Delphine Vincent) sind in der neuen Dokumentenserie publiziert.

The focus is on the work of Erich Marckhl (1902-1980), who held leading positions in all areas.

Daneben sind Beiträge zu mediengeschichtlichen Aspekten und Diskussionen über kulturelle Verbreitungsformen von Musik im 20. Jahrhundert enthalten (Carlo Piccardi über die Natur des radiophonen Musikhörens, Angela Carone über das Wirken von Roman Vlad). Aus einer anderen methodischen Perspektive analysiert Susan Rutherford die Struktur des Mythos, der die Operndiva und ihr Publikum verbindet. Die Rezension am Ende des Bandes bespricht eine Publikation, die auf die intellektuelle und musikalische Geschichte der Schweiz eingeht.

    Description: This volume provides an overview of the state of NS research in musicology in German-speaking countries. Founded in 1963, the Graz University of the Arts is a comparatively young institution. However, influential decision-makers and numerous members of the Graz Academy of Music and its predecessor institution, the Styrian State Conservatory, also held important positions in the Nazi music education system. This volume aims to encourage deeper reflection and further research into this dark chapter of history and to initiate critical self-reflection aimed at the future and taking into account the responsibility of universities for the social culture of remembrance and the development of guiding principles. The individual volumes in the FOKUS MUSIK series highlight the intersections between science and art, research and the (re)productive practice of music, each with a different focus.
