    Zgodovinski pogledi na zadnje državno ljudsko štetje v Avstrijskem primorju 1910 (2022)

    Description: The Habsburg Monarchy carried out its first modern official population census in 1857. Since 1869, censuses were conducted every ten years with the critical date of 31 December. The censuses took into account the present population. From 1880 onwards, they also included a section on everyday language/language of communication, on the basis of which it was thenceforth possible to determine the national structure of the population in the country, even though the question thusly formulated did not yield accurate results. It was especially before the census of 1910 that the Slovenes and other Slavic nations in the monarchy demanded the elimination of the section on everyday language (lingua d'uso, Umgangssprache) and the introduction of a new section on nationality or mother tongue. The last Austrian population census of 1910 is a characteristic and important event from the political history of the Slovenes in the Austrian Littoral: characteristic because of the conduct of city authorities carrying out the census, and important because it represented a political victory of the Slavic population, after the established inaccuracies forced the authorities to order a revision of the census. Both the Yugoslav and Italian sides used the census of 1910 as evidence in setting their territorial claims during the peace negotiations after the First and Second World Wars.
    Description: Habsburška monarhija je prvo moderno uradno štetje prebivalstva izvedla leta 1857. Od leta 1869 dalje so popise izvajali vsakih deset let s kritičnim datumom 31. december. Štetja so popisovala prisotno prebivalstvo. Od leta 1880 so popisi vsebovali tudi rubriko o občevalnem/pogovornem jeziku. Tako je bilo mogoče poslej ugotavljati narodnostno sestavo prebivalstva v državi, čeprav tako formulirano vprašanje ni dajalo natančnih rezultatov. Slovenci in drugi slovanski narodi v monarhiji so zlasti pred štetjem leta 1910 zahtevali ukinitev rubrike občevalni jezik (lingua d'uso, Umgangssprache) in uvedbo nove rubrike o narodnosti ali o maternem jeziku. Zadnje avstrijsko ljudsko štetje iz leta 1910 je značilen in pomemben dogodek iz politične zgodovine Slovencev v Avstrijskem Primorju. Značilen je zaradi ravnanja mestnih oblasti, ki so štetje izvajale. Pomemben je zato, ker prestavlja politično zmago slovanskega prebivalstva, saj je oblast zaradi ugotovljenih nepravilnosti odredila revizijo štetja. Štetje leta 1910 je služilo tako jugoslovanski kot italijanski strani za dokazno gradivo ob postavljanju ozemeljskih zahtev pri mirovnih pogajanjih po prvi in po drugi svetovni vojni.

    Description: Avstro-ogrska monarhija v besedi in podobi – Slovenci je komentiran prevod etnografskih poglavij o Slovencih iz knjižne zbirke Die österreichisch-ungarische Monarchie in Wort und Bild, ki je nastajala v zadnjih dveh desetletjih 19. stoletja na pobudo prestolonaslednika nadvojvode Rudolfa (1858–1889) kot domoznanska zbirka z enciklopedičnimi ambicijami. Izhajala je v nemški in madžarski redakciji, po snopičih, ki so zvezani v 24 oz. 21 knjigah, izdanih na Dunaju in v Budimpešti. Vsebina je v vseh razporejena v enotnem zaporedju poglavij o pokrajinskih značilnostih, predzgodovini, zgodovini, narodopisju, glasbi, književnosti, arhitekturi, slikarstvu in kiparstvu, obrti in gospodarskem življenju. Cilj dela je bila enakovredna predstavitev vseh narodov dvojne monarhije, ki bi prispevala h krepitvi in spoštovanju »različnosti v enosti«. V tej knjigi so objavljena poglavja o Štajerski, Porabju in Prekmurju ter Koroški, spremljajo jih komentarji o značaju zbirke in o obravnavah slovenske narodopisne podobe, materialne kulture ter pripovednega in pesemskega izročila.

    Description: Two years after the first book “Austro-Hungarian Monarchy in Word and Image: Slovenes 1, Styria, Porabje and Prekmurje, Carinthia” (2016) has been published, is now out also the second book: “Austro-Hungarian Monarchy in Word and Image: Slovenes 2”, presenting Kranjska (Carniola) and Primorje (Coastal region). Both books make the whole picture of Slovenes as included in the monumental book series “Die österreichisch-ungarische Monarchie in Wort und Bild” which was projected by the archeduke Rudolf and was published between 1884–1902. Translated are the chapters which discuss life, culture and economy of Slovenes living in Austro-Hungarian monarchy. Prevailing are the ethnographical descriptions of the regions, the presentation of inhabitants and their position in the context of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and other countries of that time. The authors are of different profiles and interests, and their studies are important sources for Slovenian culture and economy which was up till now too often overlooked.
    Description: Prvemu delu Avstro-ogrske monarhije v besedi in podobi: Slovenci 1, Štajerska, Porabje in Prekmurje, Koroška (2016) sledi še drugi del prevodov poglavij, v katerih sta predstavljaeni Kranjska in Primorje. Knjigi zaokrožata podobo o Slovencih iz monumentalne knjižne serije »Die österreichisch-ungarische Monarchie in Wort und Bild«, ki jo je zasnoval nadvojvoda Rudolf in je izhajala v letih 1884–1902 na Dunaju. Prevedena poglavja podajajo pregledno podobo življenja, kulture in gospodarstva Slovencev v tistem času. Prevladujejo različni etnološki opisi regij in prebivalstva, postavljeni v politični in kulturnozgodovinski kontekst Avstro-Ogrske v drugi polovici 19. stoletja. Pisci besedil so različnih provenienc, poklicev in zanimanj, besedila pa so pomemben vir o slovenski kulturi in gospodarstvu, ki je bil doslej večinoma spregledan.

    Description: On the anniversary of the Sarajevo assassination (28 June 1914), the booklet of Dr. Ivan Avguštin Žibert, Der Mord von Sarajevo und Tiszas Schuld an dem Weltkriege, provides a good motivation for reflection on the causes of this fateful event. Appearing as a facsimile is its third edition, which was self-published in 1919. Although comprising not more than forty-seven pages, it touches on many events and personages connected to the heir apparent Franz Ferdinand. In the introduction to the facsimile of Žibert’s booklet, Prof. Andrej Rahten, PhD, wrote the study “Ozadja in okoliščine nastanka Žibertove teorije zarote” [“The backgrounds and circumstances of Žibert’s conspiracy theory”], offering a clear view of the problem concerning the events that unfolded in Sarajevo. Rahten provides a detailed insight into the life of the heir apparent Franz Ferdinand and his morganatic wife Sophie von Hohenberg on the eve of the First World War.
    Description: Ob obletnici sarajevskega atentata (28. junija 1914) je knjižica dr. Ivana Avguština Žiberta Der Mord von Sarajevo und Tiszas Schuld an dem Weltkriege dobra motivacija za razmišljanje o vzrokih za ta usodni dogodek. Kot faksimile je objavljena njena tretja izdaja, ki je izšla v samozaložbi leta 1919. Čeprav obsega zgolj 47 strani, se dotika številnih dogajanj in osebnosti, povezanih s prestolonaslednikom Francem Ferdinandom. Kot uvod v faksimile Žibertove knjižice je izr. prof. dr. Andrej Rahten napisal študijo Ozadja in okoliščine nastanke Žibertove teorije zarote, ki daje jesen vpogled v problematiko predsarajevskih dogajanj. Rahten podrobno prikaže življenje prestolonaslednika Franca Ferdinanda in njegove morganatične soproge Zofije Hohenberške na predvečer prve svetovne vojne.
