This series of publications serves a professional dialogue between the Foundation, science and practice, with the aim of providing all day-care centres, after-schools and primary schools in Germany with well-founded support for their early childhood educational mission. This eighth volume of the series, with a foreword by Kristina Reiss, focuses on the goals and conditions for successful mathematical education in elementary and primary schools. Christiane Benz, Meike Grüßing, Jens Holger Lorenz, Christoph Selter and Bernd Wollring specify in their expertise the pedagogical and content-related target dimensions of mathematical education in nursery and primary school age. In addition to a theoretical foundation of various target areas, instruments for their measurement are listed. Furthermore, the authors discuss conditions for effective and effective early mathematical education in practice. They also give recommendations for the further development of the Foundation's services and the scientific support of the Foundation's work in the field of mathematics. The final chapter of the volume describes the implementation of these professional recommendations in the content of the "Haus der kleinen Forscher" foundation.

    Beschreibung: Using virtue as an example, the study provides an insight into the normative and subjective orientations of young people in their everyday school context. The concept of virtue in previous educational debates is juxtaposed with a perspective that incorporates the students' point of view: In contrast to the normatively used concept of virtue, the present findings present virtue of honesty as an ambivalent behavior that is situation-, context- and person-dependent. Since ancient Greece, virtues have been a central theme of pedagogy. Educational philosophers have repeatedly developed catalogues of virtues which they assumed could guide practical education. The present work asks how young people adapt to educational demands and undermine them to their own advantage. The question is pursued using the example of school-relevant virtue honesty by interviewing 16 young people in the school context using problem-centred interviews. The results of the study refer to explicit and implicit rules of honesty, which can be divided into conventional and unconventional rules.

    Beschreibung: The demand for more men as pre-school teachers in day-care centres is becoming clearer and clearer For this reason, the Austrian research project "Elementar" has comprehensively investigated the situation of male pre-school teachers and carers in the elementary field in a unique study. The diverse results emphasise the opportunities associated with the participation of men, but also call for a critical and differentiated examination of gender issues in the elementary field. Pupils, trainees and teachers working in practice were interviewed using quantitative and qualitative methods. Male trainees and skilled workers were surveyed in a full survey. The results were evaluated using statistical methods and qualitative content analyses. For the first time, biographical backgrounds and identities of male pre-school teachers were also examined psychoanalytically. On the basis of their results, the authors formulate concrete calls for action for research, practice and politics.

    Beschreibung: Schulische Übertritte sind seit einiger Zeit Gegenstand erziehungs- und bildungswissenschaftlicher Forschungsdiskurse. Gerade im mehrgliedrigen Schulsystem Österreichs zeigen sich an diesen Übergängen vielfältige Exklusionsmechanismen. In der vorliegenden Forschungsarbeit geht der Autor der Frage nach, welche Habitusformationen bei einem Übertritt von der Mittelschule in die gymnasiale Oberstufe rekonstruiert werden können und was die Ergebnisse für eine inklusive und ungleichheitsreflexive Schul- und Unterrichtsentwicklung leisten können. Hierfür führte der Autor eine qualitative Interviewstudie mit ehemaligen Mittelschüler*innen in Österreich, 12 Wochen nach ihrem Übertritt, durch.

Diese Schriftenreihe dient einem fachlichen Dialog zwischen Stiftung, Wissenschaft und Praxis, mit dem Ziel, allen Kitas, Horten und Grundschulen in Deutschland fundierte Unterstützung für ihren Bildungsauftrag zu geben. Der vorliegende zehnte Band der Reihe mit einem Geleitwort von Hans-Günther Roßbach stellt die Ergebnisse der Studien zu Wirkungen naturwissenschaftlicher Bildungsangebote auf pädagogische Fachkräfte und Kinder im Vorschulalter vor. Mirjam Steffensky, Yvonne Anders, Julia Barenthien, Ilonca Hardy, Miriam Leuchter, Elisa Oppermann, Päivi Taskinen und Tobias Ziegler untersuchten die Wirkungen naturwissenschaftlicher Bildungsangebote auf die kognitiven und motivationalen Kompetenzen von pädagogischen Fachkräften und Kindern in Kitas. Insgesamt konnte aufgezeigt werden, dass die Teilnahme an naturwissenschaftlichen Fortbildungen in einem positiven Zusammenhang mit den naturwissenschaftlichen professionellen Kompetenzen pädagogischer Fachkräfte stehen und dass Kinder aus Einrichtungen mit einem expliziten naturwissenschaftlichen Schwerpunkt höhere Lernfreude und höheres Selbstvertrauen in Bezug auf Naturwissenschaften zeigen als Kinder in Einrichtungen ohne naturwissenschaftlichen Schwerpunkt. Astrid Rank, Anja Wildemann, Sabina Pauen, Andreas Hartinger, Sabrina Tietze und Rahel Kästner untersuchten die Interaktionsqualität und mögliche sprachliche Bildungswirkungen im Kontext naturwissenschaftlicher Bildungsangebote bei Vorschulkindern. Die Studie legt nahe, dass naturwissenschaftliche Fortbildungen die naturwissenschaftlichen Kompetenzen wie auch den Spracherwerb der Kinder unterstützen und die Prozessqualität der Fachkräfte in naturwissenschaftsbezogenen Situationen bestimmen können. Das Schlusskapitel des Bandes beschreibt die Umsetzung der wissenschaftlichen Empfehlungen in den inhaltlichen Angeboten der Stiftung "Haus der kleinen Forscher" und ihrer fachlichen Weiterentwicklung.

    Beschreibung: A wide range of initiatives are aimed at the "sovereign teaching" that dominates universities and their lecture-oriented learning formats. Dissatisfied with low learning yield, dialogically designed learning processes are demanded. Klaus Günther's neurobiological perspective shows what is missing from the official learning constellation and what is possible in the dialogical learning constellation: teachers and learners meet in close communication and empathic proximity. Emotional pushing forces are generated in the learner's brain, on which the transfer of learning inputs depends on short-term memory to long-term memory. This is the only way to achieve a high learning yield - even when using digital media.
    Beschreibung: Gegen die an Hochschulen dominante „obrigkeitliche Lehre“ und ihre vorlesungsorientierten Lernformate richten sich vielfältige Initiativen. Unzufrieden mit geringem Lernertrag werden dialogisch angelegte Lernprozesse eingefordert. In der neurobiologischenn Perspektive von Klaus Günther zeigt sich, was der obrigkeitlichen Lern-Konstellation fehlt und was in der dialogischen Lern-Konstellation möglich wird: Es treffen sich Lehrpersonen und Lernende in Nah-Kommunikation und empathischer Nähe. Im Gehirn der Lernenden werden emotionale Schubkräfte erzeugt, von denen die Übertragung der Lerninputs vom Kurzzeitgedächtnis zum Langzeitgedächtnis abhängt. Nur so entsteht – auch unter Einsatz digitaler Medien – ein hoher Lernertrag.
