    Description: Diese Edition präsentiert den zweiten Teil des handschriftlichen Manuskriptes des Pfarrers Johann Christian Jeckel, dessen Chronik der Stadt Teltow («Teltowgraphie») aus einem «weltlichen» und einem «kirchlichen» Teil besteht. Sie schließt an die Edition des ersten Teils der «Teltowgraphie» an, womit nun erstmals das Gesamtwerk Jeckels vorliegt. Die mit Quellen belegten Überlieferungen in der Chronik umfassen den Zeitraum vom Anfang des 16. Jahrhunderts bis zum Ende des ersten Drittels des 18. Jahrhunderts (1500–1735). Den Schwerpunkt des Manuskripts bildet die Kirchengeschichte von Teltow. Der Editor kommentiert den Text Jeckels mit einer Einleitung und einem umfangreichen Erläuterungsapparat, bestehend aus Worterklärungen, Übersetzungen lateinischer Wörter und Passagen sowie Lebensdaten erwähnter Personen. Eine Bibliographie zur Quelle, Register und Quellenverzeichnisse beschließen die Edition.

    Description: The different theoretical notions and practices of the relations between the state and religious communities in early modern Europe constitute one of the most interesting problems in historiography. Moving away from a simple «toleration» versus «non-toleration» dichotomy, the author sets out to analyse the inter-confessional relations in selected European territories in a «longue duree» perspective, between Reformation and Enlightenment. Outlining the relations between the state and the different Churches (confessions) in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Holy Roman Empire of Germany, and the Northern Netherlands serves to highlight the specificity of Northern Netherlands serves to highlight the specificity of «free» (non-absolutist) composite states, where the particularly complex process of defining the raison d’etat determined the level of religious toleration that was politically feasible and socially acceptable.

    Description: Dieses Buch ist ein Versuch des Entgegenkommens und der Aufnahme eines Dialogs der Erinnerungen. Es geht dabei um die Menschen, die seit Jahrhunderten auf polnischem Boden gelebt hatten, die zur Schatzkammer der polnischen Kultur einen gewaltigen Beitrag geleistet hatten und die die deutsche Besatzungsmacht vernichtet hatte. Es ist eine kritische Abrechnung mit der Geschichte der polnisch-jüdischen Beziehungen in der Zeit des Zweiten Weltkriegs und nach dessen Ende, mit der polnischen Politik gegenüber dem Holocaust und mit der Erinnerung an diesen. Die Autoren vertreten verschiedene wissenschaftliche Disziplinen; sie stellen die Evolution der Erinnerungskultur der Polen dar und führen die Leser durch die Zeit der Existenz der Volksrepublik Polen (1945-1989) sowie des demokratischen Polen seit 1990. In diesem Buch begegnen sich erfahrene Autoren und Vertreter der jungen Generation, die sich mit dem Problem der Schuld, ihrer Verdrängung und der Ausfüllung der weißen Flecken der Geschichte auseinandersetzen und eine eigene Sprache für die Interpretation der Vergangenheit suchen. Sie analysieren die verschiedenen Träger der Erinnerung an die Juden (u. a. Museen, Filme und die schöne Literatur). Das Buch setzt ein Zeichen für eine neue Empfindsamkeit für die Vergangenheit und deren Bedeutung für das Verständnis der Gegenwart.

    Urkunden der Stadt Pritzwalk in Regesten (1256-1703) (2021)

    Description: Die Stadt Pritzwalk verfügt im Vergleich zu ihren Nachbarstädten in der Prignitz – außer Perleberg – über einen relativ umfänglichen und inhaltsreichen Bestand an Originalurkunden aus dem Hoch- und Spätmittelalter und der frühen Neuzeit. Trotz des verheerenden Stadtbrandes von 1821 haben sich 65 Einzelurkunden erhalten. Zu den Originalen tritt des weiteren eine erhebliche abschriftliche Überlieferung im Umfang von 55 Urkundentexten hinzu. Der Inhalt des gesamten Urkundenfonds wird hier erstmals in Form von 120 Regesten ausführlich wiedergegeben. In ihnen stehen neben Stadtrechtsbestätigungen – wie der ältesten von 1256 – Belehnungen des Landesherrn, Verträge und Städtebündnisse. Hinzu treten zahlreiche aussagekräftige Belege über die Entwicklung von Handwerk und Gewerbe in der Stadt. Bereits frühe Urkunden liegen für die Gewandschneider und Tuchmacher vor, in denen sich die wirtschaftliche Bedeutung der Stadt am Treffpunkt von Handelsstraßen aus dem Binnenland zu den Hansestädten an Nord- und Ostsee dokumentiert. Einen wesentlichen Teil bildet schließlich die urkundliche Überlieferung aus dem kirchlichen Bereich, wie der Nikolaikirche, von Kapellen und Hospitälern und der in der Stadt und der gesamten Prignitz wirksamen Kalandsbruderschaft.

    Description: The three-part work provides a first synthetic account of the history of the Polish intelligentsia from the days of its formation to World War I. Part one (1750–1831) traces the formation of the intelligentsia as a social class in the epoch of Enlightenment. It stresses the importance of the birth of bureaucratic institutions that created the demand for the educated stratum. It analyses the results of the collapse of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1795 – the ominous event that transformed the political geography of East Central Europe. The work combines social and intellectual history, tracing both the formation of the intelligentsia as a social stratum and the forms of engagement of the intelligentsia in the public discourse. Thus, it offers a broad view of the group’s transformations which immensely influenced the course of the Polish history.

    Description: This publication is a collection of articles which summarise results of investigations into archival materials concerning wartime stories of various nations involved in the Great War. The objective of the authors was to analyse the wartime experience of individuals and local communities as well as whole nations. They further tried to present a closer, more personal overview of wartime drama. As a result the book portrays the impact of the Great War on the lives of multicultural communities, re-constructs individual war narratives and studies consequences of the conflict.     Description: Die Stände der Kurmark Brandenburg haben einen jahrhundertealten Urkundenbestand hinterlassen. Er beginnt im 13. und reicht bis zum Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts. In den in dieser Arbeit vorgelegten Vollregesten erfahren die inhaltlichen Aussagen der einzelnen Urkunden ausführliche Wiedergabe. Neben mittelalterlichen Bedeverträgen mit den Landesherren, Landfriedensbündnissen, Lehnsurkunden, Münz- und Zollprivilegien stehen in der frühen Neuzeit Landtagsrezesse, Obligationen und Schuldverschreibungen. In ihnen dokumentiert sich die beachtliche Stellung der Stände im Zusammenhang mit dem Schuldenwesen der Landesherren.

    Description: Diese Arbeit zielt darauf ab, die theoretischen Vorhersagen verschiedener Arbeitsmarktmodelle hinsichtlich der Wirkungen einer Arbeitslosenversicherung zusammenzufassen und zu überprüfen. Besonderes Augenmerk wird dabei auf die Modellierung der Ausgestaltungsmerkmale einer Arbeitslosenversicherung gelegt. Die ökonomische Theorie trifft hierzu oft nur vereinfachende Annahmen. Vor allem die zeitlichen Systemkomponenten erweisen sich jedoch neben der Höhe des Arbeitslosengeldes in allen Modellen als zentrale Elemente, die Rückwirkungen auf die Höhe der Arbeitslosigkeit haben. Ein eigens konstruierter Index zeigt abschließend im Rahmen einer deskriptiven Analyse der deutschen Arbeitslosenversicherung, daß diese zuletzt entgegen gängiger Meinung großzügiger geworden ist.

    Description: The three-part work provides a first synthetic account of the history of the Polish intelligentsia from the days of its formation to World War I. Part two (1832-1864) analyses the growing importance of the intelligentsia in the epoch marked by the triumph of the Polish romanticism. The stress is put on the debates of the position of intelligentsia in the society, as well as on tensions between great romantic ideas and realities of everyday life. A substantial part deals with the genesis, outbreak and defeat as well as the consequences of the national uprising in 1863, whose preparation was to a high degree the work of the intelligentsia. The work combines social and intellectual history, tracing both the formation of the intelligentsia as a social stratum and the forms of engagement of the intelligentsia in the public discourse. Thus, it offers a broad view of the group’s transformations which immensely influenced the course of the Polish history.

    Description: By the second half of the 1940s, newly conquered nations of Central and Eastern Europe were expected to adjust multiple professions, including those related to the historical sciences, to the Soviet model. However, Marxism, soon to become the only acceptable methodology, was no longer understood in the same way as in Bolshevik Russia. Its Soviet variation borrowed heavily from the tradition of Russian historiography and the Russian national tradition. The variations formulated in the satellite countries were also less likely to break away from existing traditions than to revise and re-evaluate them, along with the perspectives on Russia’s role in the history of Central and Eastern Europe.

    Description: Die Stadt Beeskow verfügt im Vergleich mit anderen Städten in der Mark Brandenburg und der Niederlausitz über einen umfänglichen, inhaltsreichen und gut erhaltenen Bestand an Urkunden aus dem späten Mittelalter und der frühen Neuzeit, deren Inhalte hier zum ersten Mal in Form von 255 Regesten ausführlich beschrieben werden. Stadtrechtsbestätigungen, Lehnsurkunden und Finanzgeschäfte erhellen die rechtlichen und materiellen Verhältnisse der Stadtgemeinde. In das alltägliche Leben der Bürger gewährt die in Brandenburg ziemlich einmalige Überlieferung von Zunftstatuten und -privilegien tieferen Einblick. Neben den für die Versorgung der Bevölkerung unverzichtbaren Viergewerken der Bäcker, Fleischer, Schneider und Schuhmacher standen die im Fernhandel tätigen Gewandschneider und Tuchmacher, die von der Lage der Stadt am Schnittpunkt belebter Handelsstraßen begünstigt wurden.
