Description: The revitalization and intercultural teaching of indigenous knowledge presents challenges for the educational and intercultural system; challenges that involve not only curricular content, but also methodologies. From here we see, for example, that the Chilean educational system is formal and largely based on writing, while the knowledge of indigenous peoples places emphasis on informal learning contexts and oral transmission. This book is the result of intercultural dialogues that occurred at the Federico Santa María Technical University, Valparaíso, Chile, while the possibility of having a new Constitution for the country was debated. We present it here with the hope of contributing to the discussions on the reformulation of the educational system in order to undo traditional asymmetries and install interculturality at the very core, paving the way for a society where interethnic and interlinguistic relations are not circumstantial or a mere decoration. cultural.

Description: Among so many possible conceptions of the human being – from the emphasis on the sacred in ancestral cultures, Socratic reason, the faith of Christian theology, Cartesian centrality, the finitude of Kant, the action of Fichte, the will of Schopenhauer or Nietzsche , Kierkegaard's singularity, the possibility and projection of Jaspers or Heidegger, Huizinga's homo ludens, Scheler's being a person, Gehlen's lack, and others – we understand it here as a search for meaning. This phrase, intended for the context of independence American, reflects his deep concern for a story that would break the local schemes, national borders and interconnected with a larger than would allow us to analyze the future of America, linking events both Americans as Europeans. Within this framework, he would also place emphasis on the analysis of social dynamics, many of them conditioned by political, social, economic and geographical contexts, among others. One of his references would be the repercussions of the French Revolution in the Caribbean, and its direct influence on the movements in Martinique (1790-1793), Guadeloupe (1795-1802) and the most relevant, Haiti (1804); this The latter, I would point out, would in turn have an effect on those that broke out in Venezuela and, in addition to arousing fears throughout Spanish America due to its political scope, it would also do so because it was a rebellion led by black slaves against the white European elite established in the new World.

Description: In April 1957, a social revolt of unprecedented magnitudes in the history of Chile occurred. The proportion of the population involved was immense, and important parts of the city were seen for hours and even days, outside the control of the State. The dawn of metropolitan Santiago was illuminated with burning barricades, which were nothing more than the signs of street fighting, looting, fires, and finally the flashes of police and military carbines, rifles and machine guns. Six months later, in the southern part of the city, where Santiago was gradually dissolving beyond the Zanjón de La Aguada, thousands of poor homeless families occupied and took over the former La Feria farm, and from there they founded the current town. The victory. Both events are precipitations of complex processes of radicalization and popular politicization. Taken together, the events of 1957 constitute a milestone of rupture and strategic leap in the historical composition of the proletarian universe of Santiago.

Description: In this book we have set out to reconstruct and share the memories of these teaching experiences lived during the pandemic. With this we try to respond to a double need. First, the need not to forget what happened and how it was lived from one's own experiences overflowing with subjectivities. Second, the need to rescue these experiences and remember them, in other words, to make memories to think about the future. In this way, we maintain that the future of teaching and professional work cannot be thought of without taking into account past experiences and, in this sense, those experienced during the pandemic.

Description: The book that we present below brings together the presentations (corrected and edited) of the first International Conference on Criticism of Political Economy, held during November 2021 in Chile. The exhibited works present, through a similar methodology, original estimates on the rate of profit and land rent in different South American countries. Although a unitary characterization of the region is not presented, by covering Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay, it constitutes a significant sample to expose the South American specificity. It thus allows progress in the elaboration of a coherent picture of the specific way in which the continent participates in the international division of labor under the appropriation of land rent by different social subjects, and its recovery by global social capital. Despite its partial nature, this book is a step in the knowledge of the way in which the interest of the entire working class is determined, an indispensable starting point for the development of any conscious political action.

Description: The concern of a group of researchers together with the methods and strategies to teach people or rather students to think, motivated the creation of this book. Likewise, it seeks to explain the role played by the characteristics of the students described in demographic variables such as age, gender, etc., and hidden behavioral variables, which can be extracted from the execution of the evaluation instrument; such as response times, transition of the student's response in the different questions, etc., which also influence learning and cognitive action that are an important part of learning analysis, seen from different dimensions. Teaching to think through significant and real strategies is one of the premises of this book, which must be implemented according to explicit teaching, offer feedback and above all generate metacognition, with the conviction of being aware that the skills that we are developing especially, those that are complex to generate, are some of the variables to consider.

Description: The following book seeks to answer some of these questions, above all because, unlike the labor movement, little is known about the politicization of peasants at the beginning of the 20th century. In general, the investigations have described the process of worker politicization, mentioning the fundamental role played by the political parties, be it the Democratic Party, the Socialist Workers Party and the anarchist movement in the "awakening of the workers". On the other hand, they have described that the relationship between political parties and social movements was characterized by the limited autonomy of the latter around the former. This included the peasant movement, especially in its early years. But in recent decades, a series of studies have shown that agricultural workers were not "marginalized" or "absent" from national politics, but rather, the first peasant organizations were repressed and limited in their union activity, especially among the years 1938-1952

Description: This study on the debates on the question of alcohol in the socialist parties belonging to the Second International (1889-1914) and in the first years of the Russian Revolution aims to show how socialist organizations tried to address the fight against addictions in the heart of the working class. The socialists argued that addictions, as a social phenomenon, are the product of the conditions generated by capitalist exploitation, and therefore cannot be combated with punishment, but must be treated, on the one hand, through social reforms, and on the another, like any other disease, with medical treatment. At the same time, they argued that one of the main sources of the abuse of drink among the working masses was the despair and indifferentism resulting from it, and that the fight against addictions could only be waged by inspiring the workers with a cause to fight for. , that is, with a higher ideal of life like the one offered by socialism.

Description: This book has the participation of prominent academics and managers of public policies on youth from the southern cone of America. It focuses on the Chilean case, but contains contributions on Brazil and Argentina. The text arises from various meetings that took place in 2020, each of the authors presented research and social programs that they developed during the pandemic period, highlighting the advances and possibilities of working with those who lived through the pandemic as young people. The book adds to an extensive list of contributions to the study of youth from the social sciences, in times of the greatest social experiment in recent centuries, whose planetary nature allows us to analyze both the similarities and the differences in three intertwined dimensions: the expansion of the virus and its health effects -the pandemic-, its social effects -the syndemic-, and public policies to address both situations. This entails the study of inequalities -of class, gender, generation and territory- that the coronavirus has revealed, especially generational inequalities, which are the focus of this compilation.

Description: From the late nineteenth century on, and throughout the twentieth century, more or less sizeable segments of the labour and trade union movement repeatedly engaged in a range of mobilizations that went beyond the legal framework and claimed diverse forms of "radical" and violent direct action, in various political contexts and in the name of different perspectives and ideologies. This multilingual and multidisciplinary collective work addresses several such experiences and several case studies of intense social conflicts that challenged the established order in the Americas as well as in Europe. Our aim is to contribute to a global history of contemporary trade unionism, and particularly to renewing the historiography of direct action on both sides of the Atlantic.
