Description: Title in English: Error Analysis in the Interlanguage of Czech and Slovak University Students of Spanish as a Second Language The monograph studies the written interlanguage in Spanish of a group of Czech and Slovak university students, focusing on analysis of their errors. The main purpose of this study is to find a pattern in these errors and to understand their evolution from the beginning to the end of the three-year bachelor program of Spanish Language and Literature at Masaryk University in Brno (Czech Republic). For this objective we have analyzed a corpus of written texts compiled from 2014 to 2017 and we have classified all the lexical and morhosyntactical errors according to specific criteria, creating a “grammar of errors” on its own. The conclusions indicate that there are no significant differences between errors according to the linguistic groups. This is due to the fact that the majority of these errors show universal learning strategies that do not apply to just one linguistic group. However, the results also show a considerable influence of Czech and Slovak, especially in the lexical errors that occur due to interferences, faux amis and loans. Furthermore, Slovak students have a higher percentage of errors compared to Czech students at the end of their degree, mainly because the essays are longer. This is an outcome of Slovak students taking more risks when they write in Spanish, since they use more language and they choose more complex structures.

Description: Seit dem späten 19.

Description: Der Amerikanische Bürgerkrieg (1861–65) war ein Konflikt von transatlantischen Ausmaßen.

Description: Why do people still write by hand today? Is typing by hand actually handwriting? And what have signatures got to do with identity? Andi Gredig explores these and many other questions about handwriting from a linguistic and cultural studies perspective. He organizes the complex terminology of writing and script, explores common notions of what handwriting is and can be, and traces current practices of handwriting on the basis of text types such as greeting cards, sketches, and notes. The systematic and precise linguistic analysis of the ideologically contested subject of handwriting reveals some surprising insights. Andi Gredig is a researcher and lecturer at the German Department of the University of Zurich. As a layouter and editor in the linguistics department, he also edits and designs texts in the humanities and deals intensively with typography. In the summer of 2020, he completed his doctorate at the University of Zurich on the topic of handwriting.

Description: Elocution and speech training are among the core areas of speech science in research, teaching and practice. The volume Voice – Speech – Theater. Sprechwissenschaft im Dialog offers an update on the current scientific and practical cooperation between university speech science and schools as well as colleges of drama and music. In the transdisciplinary exchange between research and practice, the focus is on the discussion of proven and new approaches to theory and methodology as well as on the current requirements of artistic practice. Specifically, the focus will be on special aspects of gestural communication and choral speaking, laughing and crying on stage, artificial voices and "theatricality" in the art of speaking. In addition, topics such as text learning and voice disorders, which are always present in the acting profession, are also discussed. An overview of relevant research work at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg rounds off the volume.

Description: Audio films enable blind and visually impaired people to enjoy a feature film. An audio film consists of the original audio track of the film and the audio description. This film description compensates for the video track of the film. It is therefore a purely auditory media text. Translation studies consider the work of audio descriptors as an intercodal translation process and as a part of audiovisual translation. Maher Tyfour examined the concrete implementation of audiodescription on a corpus of image translations for the Munich Tatort series. His focus was on the city's staging. By comparing them with the original video tracks of the feature films, he illustrates the intertextual relationship between original and translation. In the analysis he identifies the strategies of the audio descriptors that are partly unconsciously implemented in the translation process, explains them and discusses them in terms of text and translation studies. Maher Tyfour studied English at the University of Damascus (Syria) before coming to Germany in 2009. After completing his master's degree in Intercultural German Studies at the Georg-August University of Göttingen, he earned his doctorate at the University of Hildesheim. He works as a teacher of English and German as a second language in Saxony.
