    Description: "This compilation introduces 14 articles that use method of empathy-based stories as a methodology and all of which look at changes in the field of education. This compilation discusses many current themes, such as changes in teaching and working methods at different levels of education, change management and curriculum work. The book also provides an insight into how children experience stories of news reports or how girls construct girlhood in their stories. All the articles in this compilation are combined with a review of educational change, along with a methodological connection: the material of all the articles is collected using the method of empathy-based stories. The book shows how multipurpose this method is: it is equally suitable for examining the perceptions of children as well as for examining a whole organizational change. The book presents not only the practical research carried out with the method, but also provides a guide to the methodology and introduces good practices. "
    Description: "Aikamme kasvatus: vain muutos on pysyvää? -teos esittelee 14 eläytymismenetelmätutkimusta, jotka kaikki tarkastelevat kasvatuksen kentällä tapahtuneita muutoksia. Teoksessa pohditaan monia ajankohtaisia teemoja, kuten opetus- ja työtapojen muutosta eri koulutusasteilla, muutosjohtamista ja opetussuunnitelmatyötä sekä tulevaisuustaitoja. Teos tarjoaa näkökulman myös muun muassa siihen, miten lapset kokevat uutisten väkivaltakertomusten hahmot tai miten tytöt rakentavat kertomuksissaan tyttöyttä. Lisäksi teoksen ajankohtaisina teemoina pohditaan mm. erilaisia isyystyyppejä, nuorten kännykän käytön rajoittamista sekä ammattikoululaisten suhtautumista maahanmuuttajiin. Kaikkia edellä kuvattuja artikkeleita yhdistää kasvatuspainotteisen muutoksen tarkastelun ohella metodologinen yhteys: kaikkien artikkelien aineisto on kerätty eläytymismenetelmää käyttäen. Teos osoittaa, kuinka monikäyttöisestä menetelmästä on kyse: se sopii yhtälailla lasten käsitysten tutkimiseen kuin kokonaisen organisaatiomuutoksen tarkasteluun. Teos esittelee paitsi menetelmällä tehtyjä käytännön tutkimuksia, tarjoaa myös käyttöohjeen menetelmään vasta tutustuvalle tutkijalle. Teos esittelee eläytymismenetelmän hyviä käytäntöjä sekä systemaattisen kirjallisuushaun eläytymismenetelmän käytöstä. "

    Description: "More and more people have to write in their jobs, and some need to write for publication. Students must learn to write in new genres, and their teachers not only need to write but also help others develop their own writing. Even though writing is often essential for learning a discipline and developing a professional identity, these aspects are often overlooked in academic settings. A surprising number of us struggle with writing, and often do so alone. Writing touches upon deeply personal processes concerning who we are in the eyes of others and how we view ourselves. This book elucidates the creative and subjective sides of professional and academic writing, which are in fact quite similar to those of literary writing. In the interview material, students and researchers share their experiences of the difficulties and the joys of writing, as well as personal decisions they have made in the course of becoming creative writers in their fields. In the discussion, a conceptual repertoire is developed from the philosophy of education, theories of identity development and recognition, to transcend the common belief that writing is something we either can or cannot master. The book will be of use to those who help others to write, and a source of inspiration for those who struggle with their own writing. The author is director of the Academic Writing Centre at the University of Oslo Library and editorial director of the website Søk & Skriv (Search & Write). She holds a doctoral degree in the philosophy of education and has many years’ experience as a university lecturer, supervisor and professional academic writer."

Studenter må lære seg å skrive i nye sjangre, og lærerne deres må ikke bare skrive selv, men også hjelpe andre med å gjøre det. Selv om det å skrive ofte er vesentlig for å tilegne seg et fag og en faglig identitet, er disse sidene ved arbeidet som regel lite belyst innenfor den faglige virksomheten. Overraskende mange sliter med å skrive, og de gjør det ofte alene. Skriving berører dypt personlige prosesser som angår hvem vi er for andre og hvordan vi ser på oss selv. Boka retter søkelys mot de kreative og subjektive sidene ved skriveprosessen i faglitterær skriving, som viser seg å ikke være så forskjellige fra den skjønnlitterære skrivingen.     Description: "The stability and quality of work careers are major social and economic issues, as the funding of the Nordic welfare state is based on the employment of working-age people and the tax revenue collected from work, production and consumption. This edited volume examines how work careers have developed in specific industrial sectors and at different levels of education in recent decades. The research results are based on the linked employer-employee data of Statistics Finland, company statistics and interviews with industry experts. Careers are examined from several different perspectives, including career stability, employment status, income development, mobility between industries and places of work, and on-the-job training. Based on the results, careers have not weakened between cohorts on average in Finland. Instead of the often-expressed perception of greater job instability, there is high stability of employment combined with high mobility within the careers, owing to the high frequency of changing industries and jobs. However, the career development of women and the low-skilled lags behind that of men and the more highly educated, meaning that equality in earnings has not progressed. Other key findings of the study suggest that adult education differs according to the level of education, and that companies' investments in intangible capital anticipate positive career outcomes for employees."

Coordination is central to creating integrated services for users with complex needs. In order to understand the challenges and opportunities associated with creating such services, one needs knowledge related to organizations and the organizational context. The book's chapters takes on an organizational perspective where patterns and explanations are sought in formal and informal structures, processes and culture. The users’ need for services often cross established boundaries, both organizational and professional. The authors highlight the possibilities and limitations of some selected solutions that will help to cut across or break down such boundaries. Examples of such solutions are user involvement, interdisciplinary collaboration, team organizations, coordinators, standardization and patient pathways, digitization and decision-making tools for employees who work in the services. One chapter summarizes three different theoretical research approaches for analyzing coordination and collaboration.     Description: "I TIMSS Advanced, en studie av elevers kunnskaper i det siste året i videregående skole, var de norske elevenes kompetanse i fysikk helt i verdenstoppen i 1995, noe som ble lagt merke til både nasjonalt og internasjonalt. Siden den gang har det vært en dramatisk nedgang i de norske elevenes prestasjoner. I TIMSS Advanced 2015 målte vi en tilbakegang i elevenes kunnskapesnivå i fysikk på trekvart standardavvik fra 1995. Det er en større nedgang enn vi i Norge har målt i noe annet fag i noen andre internasjonale studier, på noe nivå i skolen. Norge har deltatt i TIMSS Advanced i videregående skole og i TIMSS i grunnskolen jevnlig siden 1995. Vi har derfor en stor databank som gir oss muligheter til å studere og analysere utviklingen i Norge fra 1995 fra mange ulike synsvinkler og perspektiver. Mange av de utfordringene vi står overfor i dag, blant annet når det gjelder miljøet, kan kun løses gjennom forskning og kunnskapsutvikling innen fysikk og andre realfag. Vi trenger å utdanne folk med gode kunnskaper på dette området. At de norske elevenes fysikkprestasjoner har sunket dramatisk fra 1995 til 2015, er derfor bekymringsfullt. I boka tar vi opp og drøfter mange ulike sider for hvordan vi kan bedre de norsk elevenes kunnskaper i fysikk. Et viktig moment er at vi mener Norge har gode muligheter til å bedre undervisningen i fysikk og andre realfag. Vi greide å heve lesenivået blant norske elever gjennom systematisk samarbeid over tid med alle involverte aktører. Vi kan gjøre et tilsvarende løft for realfagene. Det vil være til det beste både for den enkelte elev og for samfunnet som helhet."

    Description: This anthology presents research in theatre studies developed by a group of colleagues at the Department of Arts and Media Studies at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. The research is conducted through arts-based research and practical-theoretical teaching at the department. Theatre production is a central arts-and knowledge-creating field of work for students and teachers in theatre studies. The work is characterized by a dynamic relationship between body, text, visuality and sound, media methods and techniques and the relationship between professionals and students. Theatre production is a complex learning arena; it is both multimodal and developed in dynamic movements between experience, dissemination, response and reflection. There is a need for a rich range of strategies, methods and techniques. The anthology presents ten different inputs to theatre production. Laboratory with experimental methods is the framework for articles on scenography, sound, the body and text of the actor. Production processes setting the creative and reflective student in the centre is the frame for articles on dramaturgy, text processing, production phases and target group- oriented work. The role and function of the university teacher in supervision and assessment is themed in two closing articles. In discussing the different aesthetical inputs to theatre production the authors use examples, images and audio material.
    Description: Denne antologien presenterer teatervitenskapelig kunnskap utviklet ved Institutt for kunst- og medievitenskap ved Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet. Artiklene er basert på kunstbasert forskning og praktisk-teoretisk undervisning ved instituttet. Teaterproduksjon er et sentralt kunst- og kunnskapsdannende arbeidsfelt for studenter og lærere i drama og teater. Arbeidet preges av et dynamisk forhold mellom kropp, tekst, visualitet og lyd, medienes metoder og teknikker og av relasjonen mellom fagforvaltere og studenter. Teaterproduksjon er en kompleks læringsarena; den er multimodal og den krysser mellom opplevelse, formidling, respons og refleksjon. Det er behov for et rikt utvalg strategier, metoder og teknikker. Antologien presenterer ti ulike innganger til teaterproduksjon. Laboratoriet med eksperimentelle metoder er ramme for artikler om scenografi, lyd, aktørens kropp og tekst. Produksjonsprosessen med den skapende og reflekterende studenten i sentrum er ramme for artikler om dramaturgi, tekstbehandling, produksjonsfaser og målgruppearbeid. Fagforvalterens rolle og funksjon i veiledning og vurdering tematiseres i to avsluttende artikler. De ti produksjonsestetiske inngangene drøftes med eksempler og bilde- og lydmateriale.

    Description: This compilation approaches educational and educational communities on an exploratory and developing occasion. In times of individuality, efficiency and competitiveness, countermeasures are needed to build community-building practices. Collaboration requires a common language, common understanding, trust and increasingly multilingualism whose importance has been emphasized with new media and virtual communities. When educating and teaching communities understand the importance of the community, through everyday interaction, there are opportunities to establish strong links between the teacher and the learners. If a common curriculum activity is to be developed as a meaningful negotiation of the entire education and teaching community, it also requires interaction and co-operation between different actors.
    Description: Tämä kokoomateos lähestyy koulutuksen ja kasvatuksen yhteisöjä tutkivalla ja kehittävällä otteella. Yksilöllisyyttä, tehokkuutta ja kilpailukykyä painottavana aikana tarvitaan vastavoimana yhteisöjä rakentavia toimintatapoja. Yhteistyön edellytyksenä on yhteinen kieli, yhteinen ymmärrys, luottamus sekä yhä enenevässä määrin monilukutaito, jonka merkitys on korostunut uusien medioiden ja virtuaalisten yhteisöjen myötä. Kun kasvatus- ja opetusyhteisössä ymmärretään yhteisön merkitys, arjen vuorovaikutuksen kautta on mahdollisuuksia luoda vahvistuvia yhteyksiä opettajan ja oppijoiden välille. Jos yhteistä opetussuunnitelmaan perustuvaa toimintaa halutaan kehittää koko kasvatus- ja opetusyhteisön merkitysneuvotteluna, se niin ikään edellyttää keskinäistä vuorovaikutusta ja eri toimijoiden välistä yhteistyötä. Teoksen ensimmäisessä osassa, Opetussuunnitelma yhteisön työnä, tarkastellaan korkea-asteen ja perusopetuksen opetussuunnitelmatyön ajankohtaisia kysymyksiä. Opetussuunnitelmatyössä kohtaavat rakenteet ja yksilöt, poliittiset, taloudelliset ja pedagogiset intressit, oppijoiden, opettajien, johdon ja virkamiesten maailmat sekä erilaiset tavat nähdä tieto ja tietäminen, osaaminen ja yhteiskunnan muutokset. Toisessa osassa, Opiskelija yhteisön jäsenenä, keskitytään opintoihin kiinnittymisen, hyvinvoinnin ja mielekkäiden oppimiskokemusten arviointiin, tukemiseen ja kehittämiseen opetusyhteisöissä luoden samalla vaihtoehtoista tulkintaa ja viitekehystä nykyiselle tehokkuutta ja tuloksia korostavalle ajattelutavalle. Kolmannessa osassa, Lukeminen, kirjoittaminen ja monilukutaito koulutuksen yhteisöissä, katsotaan paitsi kirjoittamisen opetuksen historiaan suomalaisessa koulussa mutta pyritään myös ymmärtämään tulevaa ja sitä, mitä lukutaidolla oikeastaan nykyisin tarkoitetaan. Erilaisissa kasvatuksen ja opetuksen yhteisöissä on olennaista kehittää opetusta askel askeleelta eteenpäin kohti oppijoiden ja opettajien hyvinvoivia ja uutta luovia yhteisöjä. Teoksen nimessä oleva Kehittämisen palat kuvaa kehittämistyön vähittäistä, pienin askelin etenemistä ja yhteisöjen salat puolestaan yhteisöjen monilta osin tiedostamatonta potentiaalia kasvatuksen ja opetuksen kehittämisessä.
