    Description: The book sheds new light on a much debated issue in the field of ancient history: the spread of Christianity in the Roman Empire and its relationship with Judaism in the 2nd century. The contributions collected in this volume illustrate from a multidisciplinary perspective (including archaeology, cultural, religious, and political history) how Christianity found a peculiar way of integrating into the transforming empire under Emperor Hadrian. In this way, Christianity gained an increasing place within Roman society, which ultimately opened the door to its affirmation in subsequent centuries.

    Description: This book deals with the historical development of a group of four Spanish adjectives and adverbs: preciso / precisamente, justo / justamente, exacto / exactamente and cabal / cabalmente. Based on large historical corpus data-samples, this study combines quantitative and qualitative analysis with semasiological and onomasiological approaches and its focus lies on the diachronic development of three discourse functions (focussing, affirmation and reformulation). The results are discussed with reference to current theories of language change (grammaticalization, pragmaticalization, thetical grammar and cooptation) and explanatory factors such as analogy and changes in frequency.
    Description: Anhand einer historischen Korpusanalyse werden die spanischen Adjektiv-Adverb-Paare justo / justamente, cabal / cabalmente, preciso / precisamente y exacto / exactamente aus semasiologischer sowie onomasiologischer Perspektive analysiert. Die Studie kombiniert quantitative und qualitative Analysen und das Hauptaugenmerk liegt auf der diachronen Entwicklung der drei Diskursfunktionen (Fokussierung, Affirmation und Reformulierung).     Description: The concept at issue in this book is Weltliteratur, or World Literature. Theoretical frameworks usually view the now-famous epistolary exchange between Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and the young Johann Peter Eckermann as the true foundation of the concept, (though earlier promoters of similar ideas, such as August Wilhelm Schlegel can be cited)1. Goethe wrote this to Eckermann in a well-known letter in 1827: “National literature is now a rather unmeaning term; the epoch of World Literature is at hand, and everyone must strive to hasten its approach”2. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels as well as Richard Moulton and Erich Auerbach, among many others, also all contributed to the category from their respective historical moments and theoretical perspectives. Marx and Engels, of course, took a materialist point of view that emphasized the expansion of the capitalist economic project and its progressive conquest of the world as a market. Richard Moulton and Erich Auerbach, on the other hand, came from a humanistic philological perspective that, as Jérôme David has put it in his reflections on the different genealogies of World Literature, “derived from the anxious preoccupation with what the literary works mean” (2013: 14) and focused very early on the problems of translation and canonization that would become crucial for the conceptual debates of our time

    Description: This investigation sheds light on Isaac Argyrus and his scholarly work in 14th-century Constantinople on the basis of his book production: it　thus fills a major desideratum of cultural-historical, paleographical, and textual critical studies on the Palaeologan Age. After a brief introduction summing up the state of the art, the available textual sources are discussed in order to define the timeframe of Argyrus' life and to gather all information about him and his career. A complete lists of the manuscript collection copied by Argyrus introduces the pivotal aspect of the research: the analysis of Argyrus’ handwriting in relation with the contemporary graphic context. Since Argyrus seems to have mastered two types of handwriting, a formal one and a cursive one, his graphic training must have been based on two differed models: on the one side the hand of his teacher, Nicephorus Gregoras, on the other one a writing style widespread in the XIV century, known as Τῶν῾ Οδηγῶν. The paleographical point of view leads also to the reconstruction of Argyrus' scholarly enviroment, through a detailed description of hands of the scribes who collaborated with him. The writing procedure followed by Argyrus in the composition of his theological treatises eanbles a sound definition of his skills as author. Descriptive reports of each analysed codex conclude the volume. This book shows an example how the use and analysis of material sources, such as manuscripts, can give a innovative and fruitful perspective in investigation about the scholary writings practices in the Byzantine age.

    Description: Notwithstanding an impressive amount of secondary literature, an exhaustive study has been never devoted to the twelve letters written by Dante Alighieri after his banishment from Florence (1302–1315). This book answers to this important need of Dante Studies, offering an important tool for the increasing community of specialists interested in Dante’s works and posterity linked to the seventh centenary of his death (2021). A section is devoted to study in depth the theory and practice of the dictamen of the age in relationship with the concrete style of Dante’s texts. A preliminary overview is provided by Latin Philologists and Paleographers on the subject of the manuscript trasmission envisaging the problems dealing with the critical editions of the texts. Example of political communication realized by a layman, the papers gathered in this volume intend to offer a new reading and interpretation of these important letters, studying them in their socio-cultural context.

    Description: The ‘Colección Psicología y Ley’ was created by the Sociedad Española de Psicología Jurídica y Forense [Spanish Society of Forensic Psychology] with the aim of publishing the proceedings of the Society conferences. The proceedings consist of a selection of empirical unpublished papers and systematic and meta-analytic reviews of contributions presented to the conference of the Society on topics dealing with the intersection between psychology and law (e.g., testimony assessment, prison inmate treatment, community batterer treatment, forensic psychological injury assessment, child-to-parent violence, eyewitness testimony, legal decision making). The contributions have to lead knowledge transfer from scientific research to professional practice as a forensic psychologist. New applications and scientific evidence-based practices of psychology to law issues are especially welcome. The applications must be inserted in a legal framework (i.e., that to which the application was designed) and all the applications must meet with all the scientific (e.g., reliable and valid measures, forensic or statistical significance,) and specific legal requirements (e.g., testimony based in hypnosis is not permitted by Spanish laws, so applications based in this technique are not legally admissible penitentiary treatment is voluntary, so offenders may not be forced to be treated). When appropriate and possible, a strict decision criterion for practitioners should be reported. Data normally involves the assessment of subjects, therefore they must be processed in accordance with national data protection law (where they were obtained or processed) and authors are urged to review the supplement to the APA ethical list. The manuscripts are reviewed by two blind referees. The reviews are anonymous for authors and reviewers. Author identities are removed before sending out a manuscript to the reviewers.
