Willibald Steinmetz untersucht erstmals die Praxis der niederen Gerichte bei Arbeitsstreitigkeiten und lässt dabei nicht nur die Juristen, sondern auch die Laien, klagende und beklagte Arbeitnehmer und Arbeitgeber, zu Worte kommen. Klassenjustiz der Richter, hohe Kosten, undurchschaubare Prozeduren, peinliche Kreuzverhöre waren nur einige der Gründe, die englischen Arbeitnehmern wenig Chancen auf Erfolg vor Gericht gaben. Das Buch belegt, wie sehr die Struktur des englischen Rechts selbst dazu beitrug, dass die englischen Arbeitsbeziehungen seit dem späten 19. Jahrhundert mehr und mehr zu einer rechtsfreien Zone wurden.

    Description: The D’Avalos name evokes images of cruel battles and tragic love stories, reminds figures of great warlords and sophisticated ladies, nourishes the legend of fabulous riches and luxurious residences. The work of scholars who explored the thick forest of Innico and Alfonso D’Avalos descendants do not allow to completely outline the history of this family. The family’s private archive, inviolable guardian of their memories, where records related to the private sphere and official acts, such as pontifical papers and relations with the sovereigns, are kept is still inaccessible. The records of the notary Scotto di Santolo can be very useful, because they allowed the reconstruction of the wide archival heritage coming from the past, recorded along with other property of the family after the death, in 1862, of last heir of the primary branch, the Prince Alfonso D’Avalos. The transcription of the D’Avalos archive before the Italian unification that we present can avoid its definitive "burial".

In fact, the disciplines of drawing have always been confronted with themes and issues relating to transitions from one condition to another.     Description: Die Pariser Vorstadt Ivry-sur-Seine ist seit 1925 eine Hochburg des französischen Kommunismus. Trotz Repressionen und weitgehender Ausgrenzung aus der französischen Mehrheitsgesellschaft konnte der Parti communiste francais seine Hegemonialstellung in Ivry halten und seit den 1960er Jahren noch weiter ausbauen. Lokale, nationale und auch ideologische Faktoren begünstigten die Entstehung dieses politisch-sozialen Milieus, dessen Gedankenwelt einen Teil der französischen Linken bis heute prägt. Die Studie geht der Frage nach, wie das kommunistische Milieu vor den Toren von Paris entstehen und seinen spezifischen Charakter über die Brüche der politischen Systeme in Frankreich im 20. Jahrhundert behalten konnte.

Er zeigt, wie deutsche Landesherren auf die Franzosen und die "typisch" französische bzw. französisch-protestantische Kultur der Glaubensflüchtlinge reagierten. Er fragt nach den Maßnahmen, welche die deutschen Regierungen ergriffen, um den Refugiés zu helfen, nach den Erwartungen, die mit der Ansiedlung der Franzosen verknüpft wurden, und nach den Programmen, die entwickelt wurden, um die Neubürger zu integrieren – soweit dies überhaupt erwünscht war. Der Band bindet in transnationaler Perspektive die Integrations- und Assimilierungsprozesse der Hugenotten in die Frage des kulturellen Transfers zwischen Deutschland und Frankreich ein und greift gesellschaftspolitisch auch heute relevante Fragestellungen auf, die über den deutsch-französischen Kontext hinausweisen.
