    Description: An increasing number of preschool teachers have a master's degree, and in Norway, employing preschool teachers with a master’s-level education is a stated political objective. In both Norway and Denmark, there is growing demand for greater expertise in preschool and more career options for preschool teachers and educators. Thus, there is also a need for greater understanding about the impact of academic knowledge on preschool pedagogical practice. In this anthology, new empirical knowledge is presented on how master's-level competence is applied practically within the preschool context, and how academic knowledge is found relevant in practice. The empirical material that forms the basis of this anthology is qualitative interviews with master's-educated teachers in Norwegian and Danish preschools as well as a survey sent to all preschools in Norway. The anthology is also based on historical material and documents that highlight the rise of specialized education in general and master's education in particular. The book stems from the research project “Preschool master in practice”, a collaborative project between researchers at one Danish and two Norwegian educational institutions: VIA University College in Århus, Oslo Metropolitan University, and the University of South-Eastern Norway. The aim of the project has been to increase understanding of how master’s-educated preschool teachers’ feel their particular expertise is put to use, and how their expertise benefits the preschool and creates opportunities within the sector.
    Description: Stadig flere barnehagelærere har masterutdanning. I Norge er det også en uttalt politisk ambisjon om at det skal ansettes flere masterutdannede barnehagelærere i barnehagen. Både i Norge og Danmark ser vi en økende etterspørsel etter mer kompetanse i barnehagen og flere karriereveier for barnehagelærere og pedagoger. Dermed blir det også behov for mer kunnskap om hva som skjer i møtet mellom akademisk kunnskap og barnehagefaglig pedagogisk praksis. I denne antologien presenteres ny empirisk kunnskap om hvordan kompetanse på masternivå anvendes i barnehagen, og hvordan akademisk kunnskap gis relevans for barnehagens praksis. Det empiriske materialet som ligger til grunn for antologien, er kvalitative intervjuer med masterutdannede barnehagelærere i norske og danske barnehager og en spørreundersøkelse sendt ut til alle norske barnehager. Antologien er også basert på historisk materiale og dokumenter som synliggjør framveksten av videreutdanninger generelt og masterutdanning spesielt. Bokutgivelsen springer ut av forskningsprosjektet «Barnehagefaglig master i praksis», som er et samarbeidsprosjekt mellom forskere ved én dansk og to norske utdanningsinstitusjoner, henholdsvis VIA University College i Århus, OsloMet – storbyuniversitetet og Universitetet i Sørøst-Norge. Målet med prosjektet har vært å utvide kunnskapen om hvordan barnehagelærere med barnehagefaglig masterutdanning erfarer at deres kompetanse blir anvendt, og om hvordan kompetansen kommer barnehagen til gode og gis muligheter i sektoren.

    Description: This book is the first Finnish-language collection of research on superdiversity. At the core of the book is the growing migration to Finland since the turn of the 1990s and its numerous effects on Finnish society. The interdisciplinary examination of superdiversity is important at the current moment: Finland as a society has reached the point where certain social categories, such as ethnic background, country of birth, mother tongue or gender, are not necessarily sufficient to understand the increased diversity and its consequences. The book consists of a comprehensive introduction to the topic and thirteen chapters. In Finland, research on superdiversity is carried out especially in critical sociolinguistics and applied language studies, education, cultural studies, social sciences, and urban studies. Therefore, these disciplines are strongly represented in the collection, and the chapters approach a variety of topics including refugees’ mental health, experiences of multilingual families, the diversity of education and working life, discursive practices in social media, issues of urban planning and pro-asylum activism.

    Description: Michael Agricola’s main work is the New Testament, published in 1548, a magnificent quarto volume of 700 pages with a hundred woodcuts. The basic text used was the Greek text published by Erasmus, Erasmus’ Latin translation, the Vulgate, the Luther Bible and the Swedish Bible from 1541. The 450 marginal glosses come from the Luther Bible and the Swedish Bible. In his translation, Agricola distinguished “the Holy Spirit’s own words,” i.e. H. the Bible text, the prefaces and marginal glosses, which were only intended to provide “clearer understanding”. The word of God is much more valuable than the word of man, so that the translator was closely tied to the text. A free translation was out of the question, let alone consciously improving the text. He was able to proceed more freely with the prefaces and marginal glosses. Most of the time he translated verbatim, but did not shy away from omissions, additions and changes when he deemed them appropriate. In this critical edition, Agricola’s marginal glosses on the New Testament are printed in parallel with their sources.

    Description: In this book, five experienced Nordic L1-didactitians and teacher educators search for their professional roots as pupils, students, teachers, teacher educators, managers and researchers over a period of fifty years. In the form of the scientific essay, various historical professional struggles and processes that may lie behind this professionalisation are examined, partly from a critical perspective: Academisation, theorising, didacticisation, textualisation, and internationalisation, especially within first language (L1), L1 didactics and L1 didactic research. Documentation and discussion of the complex relationship between institutionalised academic operations and personal and collective knowledge development nevertheless constitute a main line in the presentation. The L1 subjects in which the descriptions are anchored are Danish, Finnish Swedish, Norwegian and Swedish. The contributions provide personal, experience-based, historical representations of the development contextualized with the narrators' own research in the field as well as descriptions of general development trends within schools, education, and society. A framing chapter provides methodological and theoretical premises for the texts and a concluding chapter analyses the content of and discusses the outcome of the essays. The book is aimed at anyone who is interested in the development of professional teacher training on a Nordic basis, especially native language and subject didactics. Although Per-Olof Erixon and Sigmund Ongstad are editors, the book has been created in close collaboration with the other contributors, Sven-Erik Hansén, Ellen Krogh, and Jon Smidt.

I det vitenskapelige essayets form undersøkes ulike historiske fagkamper og prosesser som kan ligge bak denne profesjonaliseringen, dels i et kritisk perspektiv: Akademisering, teoretisering, didaktisering, tekstualisering og internasjonalisering, spesielt innen morsmål (L1), morsmålsdidaktikk og morsmålsdidaktisk forskning, men også fagdidaktisk forskning.     Description: The biography of Margaret Darling Kilpinen (1896–1965) represents the fields of music history and women’s studies. It brings forth a woman who is of pliable but also strong character. She was active for over four decades in the musical life of Finland. What kind of professional role, combining performing and pedagogical work, was she able to build for herself? She was the wife of a well-known, strong-willed composer who had many ties to Germany, and also the mother of a daughter. How was she able to keep up her own artistry? The book deals with Margaret’s role as a solo and lied pianist, her long career as a pedagogue in the Sibelius Academy and as a harpsichord player with a part in the rise of old music in Finland in the 1930s. There is also the microhistorical angle: While looking at Margaret as a person and her life, general tendencies and attitudes among the cultural circles of Finland of her time are revealed. The main source material for the book, which is available for use for the very first time, has been the correspondence between Yrjö and Margaret Kilpinen.

    Description: The book approaches the history of Finnish development cooperation through the experiences of development aid workers. At its core is a small group of Finns (experts and officials from different fields) who have worked with international development aid in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Their memories and experiences, together with diverse archival material offer an interesting window into the world of development (cooperation), or “Aidland”, from the 1960s to the turn of the millennium. The research focuses on the personal motives and experiences of Finnish aid workers from the 1960s to the 2000s. The book offers perspectives on the historical construction of Aidland since the 1940s and on the gradual integration of Finland and the Finns into its structures. It describes the mindset of the first two generations of aid workers and the factors that made them interested in developing countries. The book follows their education, their first contacts with Aidland, adaptation to work and conditions, returning home and the challenges that come with it. The study gives the reader a view of the power positions, hierarchies and contradictions in Aidland and development cooperation, which at times led Finns to reassess their motives and justify to themselves the meaningfulness of the entire undertaking. Through their experiences, the book also deals with the less-known side of development cooperation, such as corruption, prejudices, and opposition to development projects, as well as their occasionally unwanted consequences in partner/recipient countries. It also sheds light on the effects of the Aidland experience on an individual’s worldview and identity. The book is an academic study suitable for a wide audience, from university students to ordinary readers interested in development cooperation. The book helps to understand both the history of development and the construction of multi-level connections of Finnish society with the countries of the Global South. It is therefore also ideally suited for readers interested in the development of Finland’s internationalization in the late twentieth century. For its part, the book contributes to wider public debates on development cooperation.

    Description: Participatory approaches and co-research are increasingly employed in the current moment for exploring barriers to equality. Co-research treats research participants as experts in their own lives and as equal research partners. Research conducted with this orientation is based on research problems drafted by the research participants themselves from their aspirations regarding the research process and an active partnership that considers the interests of all parties involved. Participatory methods are used in co-research, particularly for the purpose of deepening the contextualisation of research knowledge about structurally vulnerable or subordinated groups and to challenge the power positions associated with traditional research designs. In co-research, the role of the people involved in the research is more central than in more traditional research. One of the key principles of co-research is that co-investigators (a) can participate in various roles, (b) have the opportunity to participate in different phases of the research according to their own interests and resources, and (c) co-investigators' participation can take many forms, including differences in intensity. The idea is to provide more people with opportunities to contribute to the knowledge production about themselves and their communities from their respective perspectives and interests. Co-research is also seen as an opportunity to improve the relevance and usefulness of scientific knowledge. It aims to genuinely increase interaction and openness and extend science's societal responsibility. In this book, we approach co-research as a means to promote social justice, as an action with a societal impact contributor to social impact and as a means to promote the societal responsibility of science. We discuss and evaluate the ideals of the co-research process concerning the everyday challenges and practices in research. Above all, we offer the knowledge and experience generated by our own projects to support those planning or already implementing co-research projects.

    Description: Originally developed by the Canadian sociologist Dorothy E. Smith, institutional ethnography is an approach to research that aims to explore and challenge power relations in society. In Norway and the other Nordic countries, the approach is used by researchers in a variety disciplines and professional fields. In Experiences with Institutional Ethnography, we gain insight into several different researchers’ motivation for, experiences with and reflections on delving into and using institutional ethnography in their own research. We gain insight into specific research processes and their attendant methodological approaches, into experiences of using key concepts from institutional ethnography, and into reflections on the researcher's role.     Description: If the artworld is a battlefield of meanings, the fortunes of discourse did not favour avant-garde art in Finland in the 1910s. The latest trends, introduced by German and Russian artists in three pioneering exhibitions in Helsinki in 1914 and 1916, were dismissed by the Finnish press as foolish and unworthy. This book researches the contemporary reactions and contents of these exhibitions. The works shown in Helsinki included masterpieces from artists such as Chagall, Jawlensky, Kandinsky, Marc, Münter and Rozanova. Today these works can be found in the collections of leading museums in Europe, Russia and the USA. From the Finnish perspective, the turndown in the 1910s proved effective and irreversible. Never again have the local collections had similar opportunities to make a purchase. The rejection of radical international developments and emphasis on narrow nationalistic views left Finnish art lagging behind. This trend was already apparent in 1917 in St. Petersburg, where the Finnish artists were celebrated but their paintings deemed sombre and superannuated.

    Description: This volume looks at the Finnish-German military alliance (1941–1944) as a translation zone – a multilingual network of military, administrative and civilian encounters that was held together by linguistically versed soldiers and civilians acting as interpreters and translators. It focuses on interpreters and liaison officers of the Finnish Liaison Staff in Rovaniemi, who were assigned to the staffs of the German army units with the task of maintaining communication between the two armies and assisting German troops in their daily matters. Furthermore, attention is paid to Finnish civilians, especially women whose language skills made them candidates for a range of mediation tasks in the German units. The reconstruction of military interpreters’ and liaison officers’ tasks and mediation agency between the two military cultures is based on their war-time weekly reports, whereas the civilian interpreters’ experiences are drawn from a variety of autobiographical accounts, including interviews.

    Description: Mechthild of Hackeborn represents medieval mysticism. Her Revelations were written down in the 1290s in Helfta, Germany. The oldest surviving versions are in Latin, but in the Middle Ages, the Revelations were translated at least into Dutch, English, Swedish, and German. The text was translated into Swedish in 1469 by Jöns Budde, a Bridgettine brother from Naantali. Budde made few omissions but many additions in the text, mainly explanations to meet the needs of the Bridgettine sisters. Budde’s translation is faithful to the original text, and he made few mistakes. My Finnish translation of the text follows Budde’s version where possible. However, Budde translated an abridged version that omitted some chapters, and the only surviving copy of Budde’s translation is incomplete. I have therefore translated the missing sections from Latin and incorporated them in the text. My translation also includes editorial comments on the language, the contents, and the historical and theological contexts of the Revelations.

Viele wurden durch Agitation und Abstimmung tief beeindruckt, sogar die Archive des Gebiets mussten geteilt werden. Nordschleswig wurde als ein Teil des Königreichs Dänemarks einverleibt. Diese wurde von einem nordschleswigschen Ministerium vorbereitet und kam bei der Konstruktion der Grenze sowie in Schule und Kirche zum Ausdruck. Die deutsche Minderheit widersetzte sich der Integration und während der Krisenjahre entstanden extreme politische Bewegungen. Diese Folgen werden in diesem Buch thematisiert, das ein Ergebnis einer deutsch-dänischen Zusammenarbeit zwischen dem Landesarchiv Schleswig-Holstein und dem Rigsarkivet Aabenraa mit dem Studienzentrum für die Geschichte Schleswigs ist.

    Description: Politeness is a key means by which we maintain interpersonal relationships. This book is the first comprehensive study of politeness in Finnish. Based on linguistic and pragmatic research, the book spans three parts. The first part is theoretical and historical, summarising three waves of politeness research, describing politeness as a cultural and historical phenomenon. The second part is empirical, providing an example of the study of im/politeness from outsiders’ perspectives—that, is French people living in Finland and Finns living or having lived in France. The focus group discussions ranged from definitions of politeness and differences of behaviour, to learning and teaching as well as to changes to politeness norms within society. The third part summarises the conclusions and offers an epilogue. This reader-friendly book includes exercises and recommended readings, and is welcomed by researchers and students working on politeness and, more broadly, relational work.

    Description: The book presents the biographies and work lists of 126 Finnish women composers born between 1784 and 1909. Based on large-scale archival research, it is the first comprehensive historical account of Finnish women composers and their cultural heritage. The authors draw on feminist music history and the sociohistorical approach to find out who these women were, what kind of music they wrote, and how their careers reflected European cultural and social history. The treatise highlights the influence of girls’ schools, women’s suffrage movements and other socio-political developments on the musical culture of women. Concepts such as “composer”, “woman” and “Finnish” were assumed to be open and inclusive throughout the research, in terms of both musical style and diversity in cultural background. In concentrating on music-making by women, the book opens up radically new vistas on Finland’s music and cultural history, and it rectifies previous erroneous conceptions about women’s composership and their artistic work. In short, it exposes the richness in the sonic and intellectual heritage of Finnish women composers, as well as its significance in society today.

    Description: It is generally recognized that in early modern society, the position of the church and clergy was very central. As many historians have stated over the decades, the church and state were closely connected and their power structures and ideologies supported each other. However, when studying the social and public role of the church and clergy, it soon becomes quite clear how pervasive this phenomenon was. The church not only created but also maintained and acted as a part of international, national, and local communities, structures, and cultures that connected people regardless of their social status and gender. The church was a spiritual, administrative, and social institution and experience environment, whose tasks, scope, and meanings changed and intertwined with the development, needs, and requirements of society. In this book, we investigate from different perspectives the motives and different means by which the church and clergy came to play a significant part in early modern society. In this volume, the church is considered both as an administrative institution and as a social space and cultural structure. Hence, we do not focus on the history of theology or doctrinal questions. Instead, we consider the social and public roles and meanings of the church. The church as such is understood in this book as transnational, a strong national and local institution, and also a space and structure. The church had its own institutionalized place in society and its activities and rights were defined by law (Church law 1696, the Law of the Swedish kingdom 1734) and by the decrees given by the Royal Majesty. The church had its own archbishop-led administrative organization under the Royal Majesty and it worked in close cooperation with the Crown administration and county governors. In this volume, we understand the clergy as church servants, a trained and appointed professional group, a separate estate (social class), and also as a wide social network constructed by their families. The approach of this book is social science history. In other words, the book examines the church and the clergy as an integral part of society and the individual communities who lived in the current Finnish territory during the early modern era. The topic is examined on the basis of three conceptual themes reflecting important new areas of research in the study of the social significance of the church and clergy: (1) the clergy and family as part of the community, (2) the church as a jointly built space, and (3) the church as an arena for interaction, knowledge, and politics. We approach this multidimensionality using different research questions, sources, methods, and theoretical approaches. The volume focuses on the 17th to 19th centuries, but many of the church and clergy-related phenomena are much older, and some of them extend to the present, so the articles also move beyond this time frame.

    Description: The Centre Party of Finland was represented in almost all cabinets for decades, and it often held the post of prime minister during the reign of President Urho Kekkonen. When Kekkonen’s deteriorating health forced him to resign in 1981, the Centre Party, formerly the Agrarian Union, was in front of the crisis. The party was deeply divided along the lines of who would be the best candidate to succeed Kekkonen. The schism had prevailed for years, and contemporaries suspected the party would split up or at least lose its dominant position in Finnish politics. Besides, the numbers of core supporters making up the party, agrarians, were constantly diminishing. In addition, the Finnish party system was in a state of flux. The Finnish People’s Democratic League was in a deep downward spiral, while the Conservative Party’s support was ascendant. The power struggle between the three ‘big’ parties, the Centre Party, the Social Democratic Party and the Conservative Party, was fierce. The study describes and analyses how the Center Party survived the challenges it faced. How was the cohesion of the party rebuilt and maintained? How did the Centre Party manage to survive the inter-party contests and end up being the strongest party in the elections of 1991? The study is firmly based on source material from the party organization of the Centre Party and other relevant political actors, such as President Mauno Koivisto. The book provides new information on both Finnish domestic and foreign politics and the power struggles among the parties and leading political figures.

    Description: Accessibility to art and cultural activities is a topic with increasing attention. Most municipalities in the Scandinavian countries have kulturskoler (extra curricular schools of music and performing arts) that offer training and experiences in – and through – art and culture subjects for children and young people. But the users of these institutions are not representative for the society around them. The majority of the children and young people who actually use the kulturskole come from middle-class homes and have well-educated parents. There is therefore an increasing and absolutely necessary attention in the municipalities on how kulturskoler can reach new target groups, ensure more fair representation and develop as institutions being inclusive forces in the local community. The development project ""Kulturskolen as an inclusive force in the local community (KIL)"" had this focus. In this anthology, there are nine independent peer-reviewed research articles with topics that are relevant for those municipalities wanting to develop their potential as inclusive forces further. The book is suitable for both researchers, students or teachers associated with the didactic field of art, but also kulturskole leaders, elementary school teachers and others who are interested in how the kulturskole can function as an inclusive force in the local community

De fleste kommuner i de skandinaviske landene har musikk- og kulturskoler som tilbyr opplæring og opplevelser i og gjennom kunst- og kulturfag for barn og unge. Men kulturskoleelevene avspeiler ikke samfunnet rundt, for størstedelen av de barn og unge som faktisk bruker kulturskolene kommer fra middelklassehjem og har godt utdannede foreldre. Det er derfor et økende og helt nødvendig søkelys på hvordan kulturskolene kan nå nye målgrupper og sikre en bedre representasjon. Utviklingsprosjektet Kulturskolen som inkluderende kraft i lokalsamfunnet (KIL) hadde dette søkelyset. I denne antologien finnes ni selvstendige fagfellevurderte forskningsartikler med tematikk som er relevant for å kunne utvikle dette potensialet videre. Flygtninge skal sendes tilbage til deres oprindelsesland, så snart det er muligt, og hvis de ikke vil rejse frivilligt, må de flytte ind på et udrejsecenter, indtil de kan deporteres.     Description: Alex Matson (1888–1972) is an important Finnish literary critic and essayist, whose literary reviews and collections of essays have made a vital contribution to the development of Finland's postwar literary generation. Born in Finland as the son of a sailor, Matson moved as a young child with his family to Hull in England, where he went to school. In the 1910s, he moved back to Finland, where he at first established himself as painter associated with the expressionist November Group, an important Finnish artistic movement at the time. In the interbellum, he moved from fine arts to literature. In the 1920s and 1930s, he published several novels, but more important was his work as transmitter of international literary ideas to Finland. Together with his first wife, Kersti Bergroth, he edited the literary journal Sininen kirja (""The Blue Book""; 1927–1930), which was inspired by the writings of John Middleton Murry and Katherine Mansfield. Sininen kirja is the most international literary journal in Finnish history to date and introduced Finland to the most significant modernist writers of the first half of the 20th century (Gottfried Benn, Jean Cocteau, Alfred Döblin, T. S. Eliot, Aldous Huxley, James Joyce, D. H. Lawrence, Katherine Mansfield, Paul Valéry, Virginia Woolf). During the Second World War, Matson worked for the State Communications Agency, which was responsible for disseminating relevant information about Finland to other nations and for informing Finns of relevant developments abroad. It was also tasked with studying the prevailing mood among the population in Finland. In Matson's unpublished wartime diaries, one can see the first symptoms of a shift in Finnish culture away from Germany and towards Anglo-Saxon culture. From the 1940s onwards, Matson recommended new English and American novels as a part of his work as reader for Finnish publishing houses, and he also translated works by Joyce, Hemingway and Steinbeck. With the help of a network of international literary critics, Matson became acquainted with New Criticism, which he introduced to Finland before it became established among academic researchers. He was often critical of academic literary studies, but his seminal essay works Romaanitaide (""On the Prose Novel""; 1947), John Steinbeck (1948), Kaksi mestaria (""Two Masters"", on Tolstoy and Dostoevsky; 1950) as well as his impressive conversational skills were instrumental in introducing knowledge about the principles of the prose novel to several authors (including Väinö Linna, Lauri Viita, and Hannu Salama), and contributed to their views of literature. Matson emphasized the importance of reading and understanding high-quality literature for the wellbeing of society.

    Description: Finland was an autonomous Grand Duchy in the Russian Empire during the years 1808–1917. At this time nationalism as well as other ideologies reached Finland from Europe, which strengthened the willingness to change both in society and on a governmental level. The Fennoman movement, which was a movement focusing both on language and on nationalism, became the core of the Finnish self-perception. The goal was to define Finland as a coherent and separate country in relation to its neighbouring countries. Collecting folk poems and learning to know one’s home country became essential. People saw the Kalevala poems as a way to understand and define the Finnish identity and the history of the Finnish people. Especially young people with a background in academia were intrigued by these ideas. University students collected poems all over the Grand Duchy of Finland as well as in the Russian part of Carelia, in Sweden, Norway and in Ingria. Students who collected these folk poems also wrote travelogues about their travels and all this material was handed over to The Finnish Literature Society. These documents are unique and there has not been much research done on them, especially with the focus on how the young academic generation during the age of autonomy defined their home country, their national self-perception, themselves and the commoners living in the rural parts of the country. This book reviews travelogues written by one hundred university students who travelled in the country collecting folk poems during 1836–1917. The book offers insight into how the students described Finland and what it meant to be Finnish. Travelogues can be defined as a sort of hybrid of texts. They consist of a mixture of letters, journals, biographical texts and travel books. Consequently, the image that the students depict of Finland is in this study based upon research perspectives and methods used in textual research, oral history and travel literature. The travelogues written by students previously evoked the interest of researchers who mainly studied certain traits of poem collectors, tradition bearers or poems. However, the travelogues contain plenty of information about the lives of the people who lived in the areas where the poems were collected. The descriptions of Finland in the travelogues do not represent the “real” 19th century Finland, but instead it is a story written and created by university students. The characteristics that are presented in The Land of Hope are based on how the intelligentsia perceived “real” Finnishness as opposed to the uneducated commoners living in the rural parts of the country. The most notable themes in the travelogues are the state and the future of the society and of being Finnish. Another theme is the otherization of those who were uneducated commoners. These themes describe the fears and hopes that university students had about Finland. They also show us that the travelogues were ideological texts about Finland and Finnishness that united the collectors of folk poetry. This book studies the collection of folk poetry in the context of the ideologies during the age of autonomy and it explains what the collection of poems meant and who were involved in it. Furthermore, the book gives an insight into the possibilities to pursue academic studies and it also presents the most essential sources of students’ knowledge about Finland at that point of time.

Empirical research topics include examples of achieving prestigious fields of education and the inheritance of the most prestigious professions, connections of class position to education through the educational experiences of working-class-based business students, and the ways in which academic world encounters with working-class culture in the university work of working-class and academically educated women. The second part of the book examines education as a form of capital defining the life course and social class. Topics covered include the connections of life stage of adolescence and class position, Bourdieusian analysis of educational choices and class positions, and opportunities for on-the-job learning and self-development in accordance with the class position of wage earners. The third part focuses on the education system and its structures. The dynamics of education and reproduction are analysed by using as empirical research objects the cross-generational reproduction of social relations in the curricula of basic education, the meaning of the language used in school as cultural capital, and the links between class position and perspectives that promote the raising of the age of compulsory education.

    Description: The nineteenth century has been called an age of monuments. In some places even one piece made a difference. This book is a study of the intellectual background and physical making of Finland’s first public sculpture, the statue of Professor Henrik Gabriel Porthan by Carl Eneas Sjöstrand. The idealised but sombre Porthan was born under the influence of German neoclassicism. Development on the project was slow but sure. The Swedish artist had to be supported over three years while he was putting together his first monumental piece in Munich and Rome, after which came another three years wait before the cast arrived to Finland. The bronze sculpture, commissioned by the Finnish Literary Society and raised by public subscriptions from people of all classes, was unveiled in the city of Turku in September 1864. Finns took some pride in the fact that, unlike other nations that had raised monuments to kings and generals, here the first place was given to a scholar. In this study Sjöstrand’s pioneering bronze is placed in a wider context and compared with works by his precursors and contemporaries in the international sculptor colony of Rome.

    Description: In the current digital media environment, legacy newspapers and their readers are often regarded as obsolete. For media executives and many journalists, the future of news is exclusively digital. Given the economic uncertainties facing the industry, news producers’ eyes are focused on audience metrics and their capacity to shed light on readers' preferences. This book sets out to analyse news reading from the perspective of the audience. Employing interviews as well as the so called obsläs method, it examines how readers of two Finnish regional newspapers, Hämeen Sanomat and Karjalainen, navigate in three distinct architectures of the newspaper: printed, digital replica and online news application. The assumption underlying the analysis is that each of these user interfaces favour somewhat differing reading protocols and routines. The empirical analysis responds to the big question pondered by editors and publishers: Where are the readers? It appears that most of the participants of the study tended to move from one architecture to another depending on their contextual and situational needs. In this comparison, the strengths of a printed newspaper seemed evident for many, while the balance between the pros and cons of the digital environment was more mixed. In addition to reporting the findings of the empirical audience study, this book evaluates the future of newspapers in the context of economic statistics and media policies. While the newspaper business in Finland struggles with increasing costs and volatility of income, it may well rely on the robust newspaper reading culture among the Finnish reading public.

    Description: The publication publishes excursions of the Ljubljana Geographical Society, carried out between April 2015 and May 2019. If we break down individual contributions according to their main characteristics, we can point out some interesting findings. Let us first mention their concentration in the western part of Slovenia. Southwestern Slovenia stands out as an area of strong regional dominance, with the participants taking advantage of two excursions to the wide-open state border with Italy, created by Slovenia's entry into the Schengen area. The variety of excursions according to the method of implementation is also noticeable. As a rule, classic bus transport is enriched by walking. Completely different logistics were needed to carry out a cycling excursion through the Slovenian and Italian Karst. There is a continuing tendency for geographical knowledge to increasingly complement the content of other disciplines, especially archeology and ethnology, which certainly enriches excursions due to a different view of the landscape and emphases that geographers usually ignore or do not know much about.
    Description: V publikaciji so objavljene ekskurzije Ljubljanskega geografskega društva, izvedene med aprilom 2015 in majem 2019. Če posamezne prispevke skušamo razčleniti po njihovih poglavitnih značilnostih, lahko izpostavimo nekaj zanimivih spoznanj. Naj najprej izpostavimo njihovo osredotočenost v zahodnem delu Slovenije. Kot območje izrazite regionalne prevlade izstopa jugozahodna Slovenija, pri čemer so udeleženci kar dveh ekskurzij s pridom izkoristili na široko razprto državno mejo z Italijo, nastalo z vstopom Slovenije v šengensko območje. Zaznavna je tudi raznovrstnost ekskurzij glede na način izvedbe. Klasične avtobusne prevoze praviloma popestri pešačenje. Povsem drugačna logistika je bila potrebna za izvedbo kolesarske ekskurzije po slovenskem in italijanskem Krasu. Nadaljuje se težnja, da geografska spoznanja v vse večji meri dopolnjujejo vsebine drugih disciplin, predvsem arheologije in etnologije, kar ekskurzije zagotovo bogati tako zaradi drugačnega videnja pokrajine kot poudarkov, ki jih geografi na svojih poteh navadno prezremo ali o njih ne vemo prav veliko.

Podrobni opisi posameznih ekskurzij navajajo priporočljive točke za postanke in temeljitejše oglede značilnih pojavov in procesov, ob tem pa nazorno predstavijo aktualne tematike. Ob številnih zemljevidih, skicah, shemah, grafikonih in fotografijah je podajanje dovolj poljudno, da je razumljivo tudi povprečno razgledanemu bralcu.

    Description: This study attempts to illustrate the role of regional policy in the development of spatial structures and simultaneously determine the success and the possibly diverse response of individual instruments of regional policy to the structures of problem areas. We established that the influences of the regional policy are relatively minor, a consequence of the scant financial means devoted to the stimulation of regional development, the lack of power of the overall regional policy relative to all development currents introduced by inclusion in the European Union, and very aggressive globalization. However, we are able to cite some of its successes, mostly visible on the local level, although at higher levels their influence weakened. Because the goals of the regional policy in the previous period have not been achieved, we suggest some changes that would either strengthen the current method of stimulating regional development or abandon it altogether and turn toward the active stimulation of the polycentric network of cities that would result in the greater competitiveness of individual centers, which we hope would also have positive effects in their immediate hinterland.

Poleg vidnih prostorskih vplivov so obravnavani tudi socioekonomski dejavniki, ki učinkujejo predvsem na prikrite prostorske strukture. V knjigi je zajet prostor kot celota, kot splet naravnih in družbenih prvin. Avtor ugotavlja, da so vplivi regionalne politike zaradi pičlih finančnih sredstev, nemoči regionalne politike ob vključitvi Slovenije v Evropsko unijo in globalizacije razmeroma majhni. V monografiji predstavljena raziskava je eden prvih poizkusov celostnega vrednotenja projektov slovenske regionalne politike. Poleg vrednotenja projektov podaja tudi širši vsebinski kontekst, ki lahko služi kot referenčni okvir morebitnim nadaljnjim vrednotenjem.

    Paleoekološke značilnosti apnencev v okolici Škocjanskih jam (2022)

    Description: Iz vremskih in kozinskih plasti so predvsem iz paleoekološkega in deloma iz biostratigrafskega stališča raziskani štirje profili iz neposredne okolice Škocjanskih jam. Namen raziskave je bil proučevanje okolja sedimentacije plasti z giroplevrami v vremskih plasteh in tistega dela kozinskih plasti, kjer se pojavljajo haraceje in polži. Školjke iz rodu Gyropleura, Apricardia in morda še druge školjke so v apnencih vremskih plasti na drugotnem mestu~školjke so živele v plitvi vodi nedaleč od obale, na drugotno mesto so jih prinesli valovi in tokovi~odsotnost rapidionin v horizontih z giroplevrami potrjuje trditev, da so bile lupine nametane proti obali, saj so rapidionine živele v izrazito lagunskem okolju. Na plitvo okolje sedimentacije kažejo tudi laminiti~pri haracejah iz kozinskih plasti imamo primere flore na mestu in primere presedimentiranih delov haracej (oogonijev)~oogonije so vodni tokovi prenašali proti globljim delom sedimentacijskega bazena. Skupaj z nepresedimentiranimi haracejami se pogosto pojavljajo tudi polži, s kemično analizo kisikovih in ogljikovih izotopov v vzorcih pa je bil ugotovljen večkraten vpliv sladke vode na morsko okolje.

The research results presented in this book speak for the fact that the Iijoki series is a significant source material for future research, for example from the point of view of oral history, language variation, metalanguage, swearing and the reader’s reception. The possibilities for future research seem to be quite plentiful.

    Description: V razvitem svetu je depresija ena najpogostejših duševnih motenj. Prizadene lahko kogarkoli in močno ovira vsakodnevno delovanje. Depresija je ozdravljiva, mogoče jo je preprečiti, predvsem pa je mogoče doseči, da se ne ponovi. Bipolarna motnja razpoloženja je prav tako pogosta in mnogokrat jo zamenjamo za druge duševne motnje. Spada med resne duševne motnje, vendar jo je mogoče uspešno zdraviti, preprečevati ponovitve in človek lahko z njo živi povsem običajno in uspešno. O duševnih motnjah še vedno ne zmoremo v naši družbi odkrito in brezskrbno govoriti, saj jih spremljajo stigma, sram, nerazumevanje in močan strah. Ljudje zato pogosto odlašajo z iskanjem strokovne pomoči, si skušajo pomagati sami in se včasih zatekajo tudi k neustreznim rešitvam. Zato priročnik o prepoznavanju in obvladovanju depresije in bipolarne motnje razpoloženja, s pomočjo osebnih zgodb običajnih ljudi pojasnjuje, kako poteka prepoznavanje teh dveh motenj, kakšno je življenje z njima ter kakšne so možnosti za samopomoč in zdravljenje.

    Description: In this book [titled Home, welfare work and vulnerability] the authors take the reader on welfare workers’ home visits to clients in need of support in their living. Welfare workers refer to professionals in health and social care who in the book are represented among others by social workers, social care workers and nurses. The main concepts of the book are home, welfare work and vulnerability and these are contemplated from different angles. Welfare work entails encountering people who are in vulnerable situations in the midst of their everyday lives. They may need support in coping with their mental health, with physical illnesses, with the challenges of achieving sobriety and recovery or perhaps with the difficulties accompanying old age. On the one hand their ability to act is limited and weak but on the other they have many kinds of strengths and resources. The book addresses a significant turning point in welfare services and work at which the objective is defined as the right of every individual to their own home and making living at home feasible for as long as possible. In the last fifty years or so many societal factors have made possible the dismantling of institutions, the reduction of places and the shortening of stays in institutions, the further development of care in the community, the construction of small residential and care facilities and most recently the further development of services to be taken into people’s homes. The last stage of this dismantling of institutions is referred to in the book as the “home turn”. As a societal change the home turn is complex – and that is how it is approached in the book. When one’s own home is the main place in which welfare policy and work are implemented, it is important to scrutinize more closely what actually occurs there and what special issues are connected to this given context. The book offers a timely point of view on the development of welfare services and the grass-root level welfare work done in the homes. It draws on interaction research based on ethnomethodology and human geography. Research data consist of recordings of home visits, researcher’s field diaries and interviews with clients and workers. The work includes both chapters providing conceptual and theoretical overviews and empirical research on the encounters between client and worker(s) on home visits. Welfare work accomplished in people’s homes entails many tensions and ethical issues which are analysed in the book and made visible through the means of research.

    Description: The monograph ('Lipalja Vas and Its Slovenian Speech') presents a detailed and methodologically sophisticated description of the Zilja local dialect of Slovenian as spoken by its last speakers in the northwestern most part of the Slovenian ethnic territory.The introductory contribution ('Lipalja Vas 200 Years Ago: The Home of Kovači, Trinki and Temmli') authored by a historian and writer Vlado Klemše portrays Lipalja vas at the beginning of the 19th century on the basis of toponyms from the Franciscean cadastre. Karmen Kenda-Jež’s contribution ('Spoken Texts from Lipalja Vas'), which was prepared in collaboration with Robert Grošelj and Vera Smole, is the first detailed linguistic analysis of the Slovenian local dialect of Lipalja vas. It provides a commented selection of texts recorded at the research camp in 2005 written in Slovenian dialect transcription.
    Description: Monografija prinaša podroben in metodološko izdelan jezikoslovni opis slovenskega ziljskega govora zadnjih govorcev na skrajnem severozahodnem robu slovenskega etničnega ozemlja. Uvodni prispevek Vlada Klemšeta na podlagi zemljepisnih krajevnih in ledinskih imen iz franciscejskega katastra predstavlja podobo Lipalje vasi v začetku 19. stoletja. Prispevek Karmen Kenda-Jež, ki je nastal v sodelovanju z Robertom Grošljem in Vero Smole, pomeni prvo podrobnejšo jezikoslovno obravnavo slovenskega govora Lipalje vasi (komentiran izbor besedil). Skozi pripovedi informantov, vseh treh v vasi rojenih maternih govorcev slovenskega jezika, se odstira pogled v organiziranost družinskega in vaškega življenja sredi in konec 20. stoletja. Študija Roberta Grošlja opisuje skladnjo slovenskega koroškega ziljskega govora v Lipalji vasi na temelju skladenjskega dela vprašalnice za OLA. Analiza gradivsko temelji na pogovorih, posnetih v Lipalji vasi v letih 2000 in 2005. Monografijo sklene prispevek Mateja Šeklija, ki prinaša etimološko razlago in seznam slovenskih hišnih imen ter poimenovanj hišnih gospodarjev in gospodinj po starih hišnih številkah.

    Description: Movement and mobility, in its various modes, have strong implications for social, political and cultural dimensions of peoples’ daily lives and their broader social realities. The book addresses individual experiences of movement, focusing on spatial and temporal implications of movement and mobility. The core idea is that mobility and movement engender moving places – places the location of which is not geographically fixed but relative. Places such as home and homeland appear to be fixed and immobile, but in practice they are always contested and depend on practices, imaginaries and politics of movement. They are continuously redefined through given social, political, historical and economic contingencies. The book explores the interrelatedness between spatial configuration and practices and politics of movement, mobility and immobility. Ethnographically, the book explores the specificities of given regions, addressing two basic topics of place-making linked through movement. The first one is relationality, i.e. relations between centres and peripheries as well as relations between people and places as they are generated through movement. Both topics are explored ethnographically and comparatively, enriching theoretical discussion on movement, mobility, immobility and place making.

Kraji, kot so dom in domovina, za katere se pogosto zdi, da so sorazmeroma stabilni in nepremakljivi, so pravzaprav nenehno pogojeni in na nek način ujeti v prakse, imaginarije in politike gibanj. So odnosi in relacije, katerih pomen in lokacija sta odvisna od določenega družbenega, ekonomskega, zgodovinskega in naključnega konteksta. Novi slovar slovenskega knjižnega jezika je temeljni informativno-normativni enojezični razlagalni slovar slovenskega jezika srednjega obsega, ki opisuje jezikovno stanje in pojmovni svet sodobnega slovenskega jezika, interpretirana glede na jezikovno rabo, izkazano v raznovrstnih sodobnih, predvsem korpusnih, gradivskih virih.     Description: The book Glasba, politika, afekt: novo življenje partizanskih pesmi v Sloveniji ('Music, Politics, Affect: New Lives of Partisan Songs in Slovenia') explores the potentialities of music in imagining alternatives and establishing alliances, which introduce new senses of belonging and solidarity in global neoliberal capitalism. It examines the reactualization of partisan songs in post-Yugoslav Slovenia with an emphasis on the collective spirit, its rebelliousness and emancipatory potential. In researching the “new lives” of partisan songs, the book focuses on the self-organized female choir Kombinat, an emblematic example of thinking about the partisan art in Slovenia today. Just a part of Kombinat repertoire, partisan songs are discursively, sonically, spatially, ideologically and symbolically reloaded, challenging thus the various boundaries in thinking about this legacy in Slovenian context. Using theoretical framework of affect theory, and particularly theories of music materialism and sonic affect, the book provides an alternative perspective to our understanding of political capacity of music. It addresses four main issues: the role of music and sound in political mobilization and participation, the potentials of musical alliances and musical self-organization and self-education, referencing musical past as a way of political engagement, and finally, revitalization and reactualization of socialist ideas and values in the current moment of global transition.

    Description: Molnik is a hill in the hinterland of Ljubljana in central Slovenia that has been known as an archaeological site for quite some time. Systematic investigations ensued in the 1980s and 1990s, led by Ivan Puš, then curator in the Mestni muzej Ljubljana. They revealed ramparts and habitation terraces on the summit of the hill, as well as flat and tumulus graves on five locations around the summit that date to the Early Iron Age and some finds from later periods.

    Description: Ko govorimo o osebnostnih motnjah, se ljudje navadno odzovejo zelo čustveno. Največkrat se pojavijo boleča in neprijetna čustva. Tisti, ki so vpeti v odnos z osebo z izkušnjo osebnostne motnje, praviloma ne vedo, s čim se soočajo, občutijo pa nelagodje, obup, žalost, jezo in depresijo in dvomijo o lastnem doživljanju in dojemanju sveta. Bližnje osebe se pogosto počutijo, kot da bi bile »ujete v klobčič odnosa«, ki se kar naprej zapleta, ne pa razpleta. Osebnostne motnje povzročajo vsem veliko trpljenja, jeze in razočaranja in se kažejo v vseh razsežnostih človekovega bivanja, vendar so vedenje osebe z izkušnjo osebnostne motnje in odzivi okolice bolj pričakovani in predvidljivi, kot bi si lahko predstavljali. Da bi to zahtevno in pri ljudeh premalo poznano tematiko čim bolj približali najširšemu krogu bralcev, je v priročniku z zgodbami običajnih ljudi prikazan preplet njihovih izkušenj osebnostnih motenj, stresa, motenj razpoloženja in težav zaradi zasvojenosti. Z analizo reliefa smo na vzorčnih območjih Logaškega polja in Logaškega ravnika ter Ljubljanskega polja določili izhodiščno stanje vrtač in gramoznic pred njihovim zasipavanjem z odpadki. Dobljene rezultate smo preverjali s terenskim delom. Vzorčili (sondirali) smo prsti nad odpadki, na preseku zasutih kotanj smo merili električno upornost tal, s fitogeografskim popisom pa smo določili indikatorske rastline, ki so pokazatelj navzočnosti organskih odpadkov v kotanji. Rezultati terenskega preučevanja pomenijo nova izhodišča za bodoče geoinformacijske analize rastlinstva in prsti na odlagališčih odpadkov. Izsledki monografije so pomembna podlaga za morebitno izdelavo katastra nekdanjih odlagališč odpadkov na ravni celotne Slovenije, kjer je odprtih še veliko metodoloških izzivov, povezanih z različnimi tipi podatkov.

    Description: The book brings a thorough review of landslide susceptibility in Slovenia. In the introductory chapter the most significant geographical and other Slovenian literature on slope processes is listed, and then the basic characteristics of landslides are explained. The landslide susceptibility in Slovenia is presented on the example of twelve large landslides, followed by the chapter on legislation on natural disasters in Slovenia.The most important part of the book is the detailed description of methods for elaboration landslide susceptibility maps with different methods. The deterministic, statistical and probabilistic methods and corresponding maps are described into detail. Such maps have been elaborated with the geographical information system using the digital elevation model 25 x 25 m. Landslide susceptibility is finally presented in the framework of the regionalization of Slovenia that had been elaborated by the Anton Melik Geographical Institute SRC SASA and for all Slovenian municipalities. The last chapter of the book is important for geomorphology, describing the role of the landslides for the formation of relief.The book is intended to be used in spatial planning, physical geography, geography of natural hazards and other branches of geography as well as in related sciences.

Najprej je predstavljen opis dvanajstih večjih pojavov, sledi poglavje o zakonodaji na področju naravnih nesreč v Sloveniji, najpomembnejši del knjige pa je poglavje z opisom metod za izdelavo zemljevidov plazovitosti. V knjigi so predstavljene deterministične, statistične in probabilistične metode. Za geomorfologijo je pomembno zadnje poglavje, ki govori o zemeljskih plazovih kot oblikovalcih reliefa.     Description: The monograph (‘The Slavic image of word : the forces of depiction in a Slavic language of the sixteenth century’) sets the groundwork for the elucidation of some historical development in the middle of the evolution of Slavic languages that also influenced the establishment of literary language both in Slovenia and Russia in the mid-sixteenth century (the beginning of Slavic literary and liturgy, the intertwining of Greek and Latin Christian linguistic patterns, connection to the East-West Schism in 1054).
    Description: Knjiga ob prikazu ozadja vzpostavljanja t. i. slovanske pismenosti, s posebno pozornostjo na soodnosu med besedo in podobo (vsebino in obliko) ter upoštevajoč slovensko-ruske razlikovalnosti, obravnava besedilni in jezikovni dosežek pisateljev Primoža Trubarja in Maksima Greka, katerima je zaradi različnih okoliščin prav jezik s slovansko besedno osnovo v XVI. stoletju predstavljal tudi osebni izraz. Ob ponujenih vzporednicah z miselno-duhovnimi in umetniškimi nazori tedanje nastajajoče intelektualne Evrope je njun jezikovni izraz tokrat preučevan z zornega kota mogoče sposobnosti predstavljanja, prikazovanja ter upodabljanja neke idealne podobe, ki znotraj duhovnega krogozora obeh pisateljev ter strogo teocentričnega sveta ne more biti razumljena drugače kot Božja. Zasledovane možnosti besednega učinkovanja, ki niso približki t. i. literarnih postopkov, ponujajo ogrodje opredeljevanja značilnosti neke krščanske ikonografije, tesno zvezane z osebno teologijo obeh obravnavanih pisateljev. Zato je tudi – pogojno rečeno – poetika Maksima Greka in Primoža Trubarja globoko osebna.

    Description: In the years 1899–1901, Karel Štrekelj (1859–1912) held a course on Slovenian literature at the University of Graz. These are the first university lectures on Slovenian literature in the Slovenian language, published in two volumes. However, Štrekelj's history is more than this: it is a monumental, classically balanced synthesis of all the former knowledge of Slovenian literature, given against rich historical, social, and linguistic backgrounds.It is the first series of university lectures in the Slovenian language on the topic of Slovenian literature. The volumes of manuscript contain a complete overview of Slovenian literature from Brižinski spomeniki (The Freising Manuscripts) to Gregorčič. Štrekelj’s lectures are a landmark in the development of Slovenian studies, both from the point of view of university teaching and from the perspective of the fundamental works of Slovenian literary history.
    Description: Karel Štrekelj (1859–1912) je v slovenski humanistiki znamenit zlasti kot narodopisec in jezikoslovec, manj pa je znan kot literarni zgodovinar. Na univerzi v Gradcu pa je imel Štrekelj v štirih semestrih ob prelomu stoletja (1899–1901) predavanja o slovenski literaturi Zgodovina slovenskega slovstva I–IV. To je monumentalno, toda doslej skoraj neopaženo delo slovenske literarne zgodovine. Ohranjeno je v štirih rokopisnih zvezkih, ki skupaj obsegajo čez 1.200 strani skrbno napisanega besedila. Gre za prva univerzitetna predavanja o slovenski literaturi v slovenskem jeziku. Zvezki rokopisa vsebujejo popoln pregled slovenske književnosti od Brižinskih spomenikov do Gregorčiča. Štrekljeva predavanja so mejnik v razvoju slovenistike tako glede univerzitetnega poučevanja kakor z gledišča temeljnih del slovenske literarne zgodovine.     Description: Razvijanje medkulturne zmožnosti pri učiteljih in učencih Priročnik prinaša 15 delavnic, ki obravnavajo kulturno, etnično in jezikovno raznolikost slovenske in italijanske družbe. Osredotoča se na razvijanje medkulturnega dialoga med večinskimi, priseljenskimi in manjšinskimi skupnosti ter na razvijanje medkulturne zmožnosti vseh prebivalcev. Vsaka delavnica je sestavljena iz dveh delov. Prvi del je namenjen učiteljem, zato so v njem izpostavljeni cilji, teoretična izhodišča, napotki za reševanje in literatura za nadaljnje delo. Drugi del delavnice je delovni list na dveh straneh, namenjen kopiranju in neposredni uporabi v razredu. Delavnice so izvedljive pri različnih šolskih predmetih (npr. slovenščina, italijanščina, zgodovina, geografija, državljanska in domovinska vzgoja ter etika, knjižnična informacijska znanja, sociologija, psihologija, antropologija itd.). Priporočamo medpredmetno povezovanje. Ciljna skupina za reševanje delavnic so predvsem osnovnošolci v zadnjem triletju osnovne šole in srednješolci v Sloveniji oz. učenci nižjih in višjih srednjih šol v Italiji.

Newtonski fizik Pierre-Louis Moreau de Maupertuis (1698–1759) v Eseju o nastajanju organiziranih teles (1754) sistematično in na eksperimentalni osnovi opredeljuje načela dedovanja in se s tem umešča med napovedovalce Mendlove genetike. Enciklopedist Denis Diderot (1713–1784) v Mislih o interpretaciji narave (1754) v slogu Francisa Bacona analizira položaj znanosti v svojem času kakor tudi logiko znanstvenega raziskovanja samega. Vsi avtorji v središče svoje refleksije postavljajo znanost o življenju – biologijo. Pretresajo njene temelje in metodo ter se zavzemajo za njen razvoj. S tem korenito preoblikujejo znanstveno razumevanje živega ter metode preučevanja živih bitij in življenjskih procesov.

    Description: Bell ringing and bell chiming are presenting a valuable part of Slovenian cultural heritage, which is reflected in an extremely rich vocabulary that is part of our everyday reality and communication. The dictionary brings about 1035 expressions from the fields of amateur and professional engagement with bell ringing and bell chiming. It unveils the bells as a versatile musical instrument of cultural, ethnomusicological, artistic and also, in the case of older bells, of historical value. In addition to the modern terms, it contains some past terms, as well as many dialectal words, including the ones from vocabulary of Slovenians living in the neighboring countries. The monolingual design of the explanatory terminological dictionary is exceeded by the addition of English equivalents and the English-Slovene dictionary. This enables that also international scholars and bell experts gets acquainted with the special features of Slovenian bell ringing and bell chiming. The dictionary is intended for professionals from different fields of science, as well as for bell ringing experts, bell chimers, as well as everyone attracted by the sounds of our soundscapes. The authors of the dictionary would like to encourage new research of this kind, and especially would like that campanology gets appropriate position in the field of profession and science in Slovenia and abroad.

Zvonove razkriva kot vsestransko glasbilo kulturne, etnomuzikološke, umetniške in v primerih, ko gre za zvonove starejše letnice, tudi zgodovinske vrednosti. Poleg sodobnega izrazja, med katerimi je veliko narečnih besed, delno prinaša pretekle izraze, sega pa tudi v slovenski zamejski prostor. Enojezičnost razlagalnega terminološkega slovarja je presežena z dodanimi angleškimi ustreznicami in z obrnjenim angleško-slovenskim slovarjem. S tem se ponuja možnost, da se s posebnostmi slovenskega zvonjenja in pritrkavanja seznanijo tudi poznavalci v mednarodnem prostoru. Slovar je namenjen strokovnjakom z vseh raznovrstnih področij, ki jih zvonjenje vsebuje, ljubiteljem zvonjenja in pritrkavanja, pritrkovalcem samim in drugim, ki jih privlačijo zvoki naših zvočnih krajin.     Proizvodnja nagrobnih spomenikov v notranjosti rimske province Dalmacije (2022)

    Description: The present study deals with the question of the organization of the stonemasonry production of funerary monuments in the interior of the former Roman province of Dalmatia. The aim of the research was to identify a model of stonemasonry production that originated in a mountainous and difficult to traverse area, where the possibilities of water transport of stone material are minimal. The author started from the assumption that production centres formed in some geographical areas during Roman rule, using local limestone sources for their operation. The study includes funerary monuments discovered in present-day Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the western part of Serbia and Montenegro. By combining the methods of macroscopic petrographic analysis of the stone material and typological and spatial analysis, the existence of several production centres was proven. The results of the analyses indicate a very likely that they exploited the local limestone resources. Epigraphic data also made it possible to define their chronological aspect.
    Description: Pričujoče delo se ukvarja z vprašanjem organizacije kamnoseške proizvodnje nagrobnih spomenikov na prostoru notranjega dela nekdanje rimske province Dalmacije. Cilj raziskave je bil prepoznati model kamnoseške proizvodnje, ki se je oblikoval na goratem in težko prehodnem območju, kjer so možnosti vodnega transporta kamnitega materiala minimalne. Avtorica izhajala iz predpostavke, da so se v času rimske oblasti na nekaterih geografskih območji oblikovala proizvodna središča, ki so za svoje delovanje uporabljala lokalne vira apnenca. Študija zajema nagrobne spomenike, odkrite na prostoru današnje Bosne in Hercegovine in zahodnega dela Srbije in Črne gore. S kombinacijo metod makroskopske petrografske analize kamnin in tipološke analize ter prostorske analize je pokazala na obstoj več proizvodnih središč. Rezultati analiz kažejo na zelo verjetno možnost, da so izkoriščali lokalne vire apnenca. Epigrafski podatki pa so omogočili njihov obstoj tudi časovno opredeliti.

    Description: Vodni viri mesta Ljubljane so v neposredni bližini pozidanih mestnih zemljišč ali celo pod njimi. Že desetletja jih varujejo vodovarstvena območja. Eden od najpomembnejših ciljev trajnostnega upravljanja je ohranjanje ustrezne oskrbe z naravno pitno vodo brez tehnoloških postopkov njene priprave, kar Ljubljančani uvrščajo visoko na lestvici vrednot življenja v glavnem mestu Slovenije. Upravljanje ogroženih vodnih virov v urbanih okoljih zahteva celosten pristop in stalne aktivnosti. S pomočjo računalniških orodij znamo sisteme simulirati in tako pridobiti dodatna védenja o njihovem delovanju. Ta so v pomoč pri dolgoročnih odločitvah ali na primer ob okoljskih nesrečah. Za ustrezno načrtovanje so potrebna strokovna orodja, ki omogočajo zanesljive, pregledne in kvantitativne ocene učinkov ukrepov. Razpolaganje z zanesljivimi ocenami stanja in napovedmi olajšuje delo odločevalcem in tudi komunikacijo med deležniki. Povezava v monografiji predstavljenih postopkov in rezultatov v sistem izvedljivega upravljanja z vodnimi viri v Ljubljani je dosežek, ki je lahko zgled številnim podobnim okoljem, ne le v Sloveniji, ampak tudi širše.

    Description: From the viewpoints of regional and agrarian geography and regional planning the author systematically analyze all main natural features and many regional social factors of the municipality of Moravče: bedrock, type of relief, altitude, inclination, water conditions (including flood conditions), climate conditions (particularly insolation), soil and vegetation, land use, population, settlements, and economy. On the basis of the analysis, a detailed partition of the municipality into small homogenous units is made, three in the valley and four in the hills. The book also deals with the evaluation of the landscape from the viewpoint of individual types of agricultural land use~determines the suitability of areas for cultivated fields, meadows, and orchards~and considers the quality of locations from the viewpoint of settlement. The book concludes with recommendations for the most suitable land use and a survey of the current irrational use of land.The synthetic maps and theme maps showing individual natural factors can be used to advantage in regional planning. Emphasis is placed on determining the interdependence of landscape factors and their joint influences, on the laws and causes governing individual phenomena, and on the comparison of microregions.
    Description: Delo je s področja regionalne in agrarne geografije ter regionalnega planiranja. Avtorji upoštevajo prostor celotne občine. Sistematično analizirajo vse glavne naravne in mnoge družbene pokrajinske dejavnike: kamninsko podlago, tipe reliefa, nadmorske višine, nagnjenost tal, vodne razmere, vključno s poplavnimi razmerami, podnebne razmere, posebej osončenost, prst in rastlinstvo, rabo tal, prebivalstvo, naselja in gospodarstvo. Na podlagi analize je izvedena podrobna členitev občine na majhne homogene enote, tri v podolju in štiri v hribovju. Knjiga se ukvarja tudi z vrednotenjem pokrajine z vidika posameznih vrst kmetijske rabe~ugotavlja primernost zemljišč za njive, travnike in sadovnjake ter kakovost tal z vidika poselitve. Dodana sta še predlog najustreznejše rabe tal in pregled neracionalno rabljenih zemljišč.

    Description: The book brings a thorough review of slope processes, their causes and consequences. Both, prehistoric and recent slope processes in Slovenia are described into deatil. Authors investigated the main characteristics of slope processes according to the type of movement (flow, slide, fall), their extent and effects. As geographers, they are interested mainly in the links between natural processes and man. More than sixty different slope processes in Slovenia are described into detail, based upon field work and examination of numerous sources. In this way all types of slope processes are included and described.Review of circumstances if followed by a discussion about the importance of slope processes for spatial planning as well as methodological and practical instructions for hazarad maps elaboration with different methods. Two deterministic methods and a one probabilistic are presented.The documentary value of the book is also increased by the fact that it brings a chapter about a memory of inhabitants on slope processes, as it has been preserved in sacred literature and aitiological narratives.The book can be used for thorough studies of physical geography and related sciences. Plentiful documentary material makes it useful for everyone who would like to explore nature in Slovenia.
    Description: V Sloveniji je bila do te knjige o pobočnih procesih objavljena le ena znanstvena monografija, pa še ta je obravnavala le zemeljske plazove. Več je bilo strokovnih in znanstvenih člankov, ki pa teme ne predstavljajo celovito. Knjiga je tako prva monografija, v kateri so celovito in podrobno opisani pobočni procesi in njihovi učinki na naravo in družbo. Ker se pobočni procesi pogosto zgodijo na istem kraju, je podrobno opisanih več kot petdeset pobočnih procesov, ki so se zgodili na ozemlju Republike Slovenije in v njeni soseščini. Predstavljeni sta izdelava zemljevidov z deterministično in probabilistično metodo. Pobočni procesi so opisani tudi v pripovedkah in svetih spisih. Knjiga je namenjena fizičnim geografom, predstavnikom sorodnih ved (geologija, gozdarstvo, gradbeništvo), pa tudi študentom pri predmetih, ki obravnavajo geomorfologijo, geomorfne procese, pobočne procese in naravne nesreče.

The documentation of the 1964 to 1966 excavation is presented in the third book. In the fourth book is on field documentation of 1969 to 1973 excavation. The anthropological diaries of the 1964 to 1973 excavations by Tone Pogačnik and Tatjana Tomazzo Ravnik are presented in the sixth book.
    Description: V okviru temeljnega raziskovalnega projekta Grobišče Župna cerkev v Kranju, ki je namenjen objavi in raziskavam gradiva iz arheoloških izkopavanj istoimenskega grobišča, v digitalni obliki predstavljamo primarne arhivske vire.V prvem zvezku predstavljamo grobišče, terenske dnevnike, katalog grobov in dnevnik meritev z izkopavanj leta 1953.V drugem zvezku pa smo objavili drugi del arhivskega gradiva iz leta 1953. Predmet objave je neke vrste digitalni faksimile kartotečnih kartic, saj je vsaka kartica prikazana v formatu izvirnika. V obeh knjigah skupaj je torej predstavljena vsa doslej znana pisna in risarska dokumentacija teh izkopavanj.V pričujoči knjigi objavljamo arhivsko gradivo iz arheoloških izkopavanj na najdišču Župna cerkev v Kranju iz let 1964 in 1965 ter iz Mestne hiše leta 1966, ki ga hrani Gorenjski muzej v Kranju.

Many fountains in public and private use are true works of art, but that wasn't the main interest of our study. We concentrated mostly on private water wells and bores, which are not registered and therefore not supervised.
    Description: Knjiga celovito obravnava zasebne vodnjake in vrtine na območju Ljubljane, zlasti z vidika varovanja okolja in še posebej podzemne vode. Podrobno so preučena vodovarstvena območja ob črpališčih pitne vode na Ljubljanskem polju, torej v Mestni občini Ljubljana, ter na vodovarstvenem območju vodarne Brest v sosednji občini Ig. Vodnjake smo raziskali tudi na vmesnem Ljubljanskem barju. Vodnjaki imajo lahko poleg temeljne funkcije oskrbovanja z vodo tudi estetski in simbolni pomen. Osredotočili smo se izključno na zasebne vodnjake in vrtine, ki niso registrirani in so zato nenadzorovani. S podrobnim terenskim delom smo jih evidentirali 1686, od tega smo jih 1294 natančno popisali. Čeprav gre za študijo v konkretni slovenski pokrajini, je knjiga namenjena tudi tistim, ki bi se radi seznanili z metodologijo inventarizacije tovrstnih objektov in jo poskušali prenesti v drugo pokrajino.

    Description: The Serbs of Bela Krajina are one of the numerous local ethnolinguistic communities in Slovenia which are undergoing – as a consequence of major changes in their way of life emanating from the processes of modernisation and industrialisation, as well as due to changes in broader power relations – a process of language shift. This study was written with the aim of pointing out the significance and implications of the process of language shift both in the particular social, historic, and geographical context, as well as with regard to broader social processes. It simultaneously highlights the fact that the process of language shift employs the whole range of linguistic means. The process of language shift among the Serbs of Bela Krajina was approached from the perspective of language ideology, with a focus on language as one of the essential components of individual and group identity. These processes reveal the complex dynamics of social and linguistic changes and their interconnectedness, and show how deep the link is between the state-national and the local, between broader social processes and the ways in which local communities and their particular members rationalise, negotiate and justify their positions, roles, and strategies.
    Description: Srbi v Beli krajini predstavljajo eno izmed številnih lokalnih etnolingvističnih skupnosti, ki so se znašle v procesu zamenjave jezika pod vplivom pomembnih sprememb v načinu življenja, nastalih kot posledica industrializacije in modernizacije ter sprememb v širših odnosih moči. Delo izpostavlja pomen in implikacije procesa zamenjave jezika tako v konkretnem družbenem, zgodovinskem in geografskem kontekstu kot v okviru širših družbenih procesov, obenem pa kaže, kako v procesu zamenjave jezika nastopa cela vrsta jezikovnih sredstev, s katerimi govorci zagovarjajo svoje poglede in stališča.

    Description: This translation of the book ('The Historical Roots of Magic Tale') written by one of the most prominent Russian folklorists of the 20th century Vladimir Yakovlevich Propp, presents one more classical work of anthropological and folkloristical science to Slovenian researchers. The theoretical starting-points which Propp concived in his book “Morphology of the Folktale” was in this work projected on concrete material – on Russian and European folktales. By comparing folktale motifs with actual historical and anthropological sources he substantiated his structuralistical and ritualistical theoties in folk narrative research and folkloristics.
    Description: S prevodom temeljnega dela enega najvidnejših raziskovalcev ljudskega pripovedništva minulega stoletja, Vladimirja Jakovljeviča Proppa, je slovenska znanstvena publicistika bogatejše še za eno klasično študijo antropološke in folkloristične vede. Knjiga Zgodovinske korenine čarobne pravljice predstavlja morfološko in ritualistično usmerjeno študijo ljudskih – predvsem ruskih – čarobnih pravljic. Teoretična izhodišča, ki jih je Propp zasnoval v Morfologiji pravljice, je tokrat uporabil ob konkretnih primerih ljudskih čarobnih pravljic, ki jih je vzporedil z zgodovinskimi in antropološkimi viri.

Local people have become important participants in co-creating heritage, yet young people are still often not understood as equal bearers of culture or co-creators of heritage. How should we act to make youth’s bold ideas heard and realised in heritage projects and activities? The handbook ('Heritage in action: Ways and opportunities of integrating heritage practices into educational programs') presents approaches, methods, techniques, and examples of good practice that can address children and young people to actively participate in the exploration and interpretation of the past and (re)creation of cultural heritage in their local community.     Description: A good knowledge of the natural and cultural heritage of karst is a precondition for the rational planning of life on it. We try to organize the knowledge to make it as useful as possible for planners. We are involved in individual projects related to the regional planning, water supply systems, the construction of transportation infrastructure, the closure of landfills in karst areas, the collection of data on karst caves and their protection, karst ecology and determining the extent of human influence on the karst underground. A new book series Karstology and development challenges on karst was designed to present the results of completed and new projects to a broader public.The first book with the subtitle Water contains selected directly applicable research studies on karst waters, their characteristics, endangerment, and protection. It is composed of ten chapters, which can be grouped into three main themes. In the introduction the importance, characteristics and vulnerability of karst aquifers are presented,then various case studies of pollution and endangerment are described (traffic, landfills, military objects, flooding), and at the end some guidelines for the protection of karst water sources are summarized. The book is a bilingual publication in Slovene and English. It is aimed at a broad circle of users, researchers, students and planners.
    Description: Dobro poznavanje naravne in kulturne dediščine krasa je pogoj za smiselno načrtovanje življenja na njem. Pridobljeno temeljno znanje skušamo krasoslovci urediti tako, da je kar čimbolj uporabno tudi načrtovalcem. Vključeni smo v posamezne projekte regionalnega načrtovanja, oskrbe z vodo, gradnje prometnic, zapiranja odlagališč na krasu, zbiranja podatkov o kraških jamah in njihovega varovanja, kraške ekologije in ugotavljanja človekovega vpliva na kras. Za predstavitev svežih izsledkov širši javnosti smo oblikovali serijo Krasoslovje v razvojnih izzivih na krasu. V prvi knjigi s podnaslovom Voda smo združili izbrane neposredno uporabne študije o kraških vodah, njihovih značilnostih, ogroženosti in varovanju. Sestavljena je iz desetih poglavij, ki jih lahko razdelimo v tri sklope. V uvodu so predstavljeni pomen, značilnosti in ranljivost kraških vodonosnikov, sledijo različni primeri ogroženosti kraških vod (prometnice, odlagališča odpadkov, vojaški objekti, poplave), na koncu pa je zbranih še nekaj smernic za varovanje kraških vodnih virov.

Together with notes on the circumstances of find and contents of graves, they represent a valuable source for the study of social structure and differentiation, as well as cultural identity.
    Description: Magdalenska gora pri Šmarju-Sapu na Dolenjskem predstavlja eno najpomembnejših arheoloških najdišč iz starejše železne dobe v jugovzhodnih Alpah. Najdbe in grobni sestavi iz tamkajšnjih gomilnih grobišč, ki jih hranijo muzeji v raznih državah (Narodni muzej Slovenije, Naturhistorisches Museum na Dunaju, Peabody Museum pri Harvardski univerzi v Cambridgeu v ZDA), ponujajo dober uvid v kulturne in družbene procese tistega časa. Skupaj s podatki o kontekstih so dragoceni vir za ugotavljanje družbene strukture in diferenciacije ter kulturne identitete.V knjigi so podrobneje razčlenjeni zasnova in širjenje grobišč, sestav pokopov v gomilah, oprave pokojnikov in grobni pridatki, ki govorijo o spremembah noše in grobnih ritualov v petstoletnem obdobju, o prežitkih starejše lokalne tradicije, o stiki z drugimi skupnostmi, o vpetosti v blagovno-menjalne tokove med Apeninskim polotokom, Alpami in zahodno Panonijo.V zaključnih poglavjih so orisani nastanek in dinamika razvoja te skupnosti, njen položaj in vloga v dolenjski poselitveni mreži in osvetljena vprašanja družbene organiziranosti, rodovne in vojaške hierarhije ter kultno-religiozne sfere.

    Description: The monograph introduces the concept of work, which is inherent in human being as is play. This concept of work can be understood simultaneously as a powerful means of socialisation and as a disciplining instrument. The author problematizes the dichotomy between play and work as a construct that emerged in the specific historical and geographical context of early industrialization. She introduces the educational value attributed to work and presents how this understanding of work has historically changed through different political and socio-economic circumstances. Drawing on ethnographic studies and theorising from the fields of psychology, sociology, cultural anthropology, and social anthropology, the author analyses why and how preschool children participate in everyday work at home and in kindergarten. The author draws connections between children's participation in work and children's sociality and intersubjectivity as core human capacities as social beings. Preschool children are included as research participants along with adults, and by presenting their perspectives, this volume demonstrates the complexity of social life from an early age.
    Description: Monografija predstavi koncept dela, ki je tako kot igra lasten človeškemu bitju ter ima hkrati močan socializacijski naboj in lahko predstavlja sredstvo discipliniranja. Ob tem, da problematizira dihotomijo med igro in delom kot konstruktom, ki je plod določenega zgodovinskega in geografskega konteksta, ki izhaja iz zgodnje industrializacije, uvede tudi koncept dela kot vzgojnega ter predstavi, kako se je spreminjal skozi čas glede na različne politične, družbene in ekonomske okoliščine. Na podlagi etnografske raziskave in sodobnih znanstvenih dognanj s področja psihologije, sociologije in kulturne ter socialne antropologije avtorica podaja analizo, zakaj in kako se v vsakdanjem življenju predšolski otroci vključujejo v delovna opravila v okviru družine ter vrtčevske skupine. Vključevanje v delo avtorica naveže na otrokovo sposobnost družbenosti in intersubjektivnosti – ključni komponenti človeka kot družbenega bitja. Monografija ob bok odraslim sogovornikom postavi predšolske otroke. Tako predstavi kompleksnost družbenega življenja v najzgodnejši dobi in podaja nov pogled na to, kako se oblikuje kulturno pogojeno razumevanje dela in igre ter kako se vzpostavlja odnos med njima.

    Description: The celebration of the 50th anniversary of regional policy in Slovenia and the 30th anniversary of the country's independence is an opportunity to assess the efforts made so far in promoting regional development as well as to look to the future. In the book, we look at the path taken, describe the system of promoting regional development in the past, and point to the success of regional policy in eliminating interregional disparities. We present the role of regional development agencies and regional spatial planning in regional development and the quality of life in border problem areas from the perspective of the people living there. In the final part, we focus on future development. We point out the role of digitalisation and demographic change and try to shed light on future developments also from a philosophical perspective. Demographic, climate, economic and social changes require new approaches, fresh ideas and, above all, a systematic identification of development guidelines, ideas, development opportunities and factors that, taken together, can lead to a more balanced development of the country in all areas. Harmonious development is everyone's responsibility, but we can only achieve it together.

Demografske, podnebne, gospodarske in družbene spremembe zahtevajo nove pristope, sveže ideje, predvsem pa sistematičnost v prepoznavanju razvojnih smernic, idej, razvojnih priložnosti in dejavnikov, ki bodo ob skupnem delovanju lahko vodili v bolj uravnotežen razvoj države na vseh področjih. Pri tem je skladen razvoj odgovornost vseh, dosežemo pa ga lahko le skupaj.

    Description: Within the framework of the basic research project The Župna cerkev Cemetery n Kranj, intended for the publication and research of materials from archaeological excavations of the eponymous burial ground, digital primary forms of archival sources are presented.[In Slovenian only] The first issue presents documentation of the 1953 excavation. The second one brings the files of graves, excavated in 1953, kept in The National Museum of Slovenia. The documentation of the 1964 to 1966 excavation is presented in the third book. In the fourth book is on field documentation of 1969 to 1973 excavation. Milan Sagadin, the excavator of the 1984 campaign, presents the field diary in the fifth issue. The anthropological diaries of the 1964 to 1973 excavations by Tone Pogačnik and Tatjana Tomazzo Ravnik are presented in the sixth book.
    Description: V okviru temeljnega raziskovalnega projekta Grobišče Župna cerkev v Kranju, ki je namenjen objavi in raziskavam gradiva iz arheoloških izkopavanj istoimenskega grobišča, v digitalni obliki predstavljamo primarne arhivske vire. Gre za tisto dokumentacijo, ki je nastala bodisi ob izkopavanjih in se je ohranila, bodisi pozneje na podlagi terenske dokumentacije in najdb, ki se niso ohranile. Grobišče Župna cerkev v Kranju ima preko 2500 arheološko raziskanih grobov iz časa od 7. st. do 18. st., zato se po velikosti in času trajanja neprekinjenega pokopavanja uvršča med največja srednjeveška grobišča v Evropi. Skoraj polovica teh grobov pripada zgodnjesrednjeveškemu obdobju. Gradivo obsega preko 1100 predmetov, za antropološko analizo je na voljo preko 700 okostij, ki jih hrani Gorenjski muzej v Kranju.V prvem zvezku predstavljamo grobišče, terenske dnevnike, katalog grobov in dnevnik meritev z izkopavanj leta 1953.

    Description: The monograph ('General Monolingual Dictionaries of the Slavic Languages') provides an overview of the more prominent dictionary typologies, and an overview of general monolingual Slavic language dictionaries created from 1945 untill the present. The analysis presents how dictionary elements of selected dictionaries are treated at the macrostructural and microstructural level. For selected elements (homonymy and homography, multi-word headwords, sub-entries, grammatical information, referential definition type, multi-word lexical units and etymological information), suggestions for further lexicographical practice are given. The standpoint of these suggestions is that a dictionary serves as a representation of a lexicon and as a practical tool, which should effectively and transparently deliver reliable and relevant linguistic data and to a lesser extent non-linguistic data. The suggestions also take into account the completed transition from the initial print dictionary to the initial electronic dictionary, which to a certain extent requires reallocation of the data and to a lesser extent reorganization of data hierarchy.
    Description: Monografija prinaša pregled vidnejših slovarskih tipologij, pregled splošnih enojezičnih slovanskih slovarjev, nastalih od 1945 do danes. Analiza prikazuje obravnavo slovarskih prvin na makrostrukturni in mikrostrukturni ravni. Za izbrane elemente (homonimija in homografija, večbesedne iztočnice, podgesla, slovnični podatki, sklicevalni tip razlage, večbesedne leksikalne enote in etimološki podatki) so podani predlogi za nadaljnjo slovaropisno prakso. Izhodišče teh predlogov je slovar kot jezikovni opis besedja in kot praktični pripomoček, ki naj kar se da učinkovito in pregledno prinaša zanesljive in relevantne jezikovne in, v manjši meri, tudi nejezikovne podatke, pri predlogih pa je upoštevan tudi zaključen prehod od izhodiščno knjižne podobe slovarja k izhodiščno digitalni podobi slovarja, kar do določene mere zahteva prerazporeditev slovarskih podatkov, v manjši meri pa tudi preureditev njihove hierarhije.

    Description: A handbook for managing psychosocial risks and absenteeism with e-OPSA tool' is an integral part of the new, freely available tool aimed at management of psychosocial risks and health-related absenteeism (e-OPSA~www.opsa.si). The general version e-OPSA is intended for employees in various sectors (education, training, manufacturing, ICT, trade, catering, transport, construction, agriculture, etc.). Besides introducing the problem of psychosocial burdens experienced by employees at their workplace and beyond, this handbook can be used as a useful instrument for designing a various promotional and preventive arrangements which bettering employees’ health and well-being in their working settings, as suggested by recent guidelines for psychosocial risks management. A handbook is based on interactive chapters, including also numerous links to supportive health promotion websites in order to facilitate the preparation of adequate measures and related activities, commonly carried out by professionals in the field of health and safety at work. A special chapter is dedicated to instructions for working with an online tool e-OPSA tool, enabling an assessment of employees’ psychosocial burdens and risks of developing an excessive stress, absenteeism, presenteeism, turnover and experiencing of workplace violence.
    Description: Splošna različica e-OPSA je namenjena zaposlenim v različnih sektorjih (vzgoja, izobraževanje, predelovalne dejavnosti, IKT, trgovina, gostinstvo, promet, gradbeništvo, kmetijstvo, idr.). Priročnik je poleg tega, da seznanja uporabnike s problematiko psihosocialnih obremenitev, ki jih doživljajo zaposleni tako v svojem delovnem okolju kot izven njega, tudi uporaben pripomoček pri oblikovanju različnih preventivno promocijskih ukrepov, usmerjenih v izboljševanje zdravja zaposlenih in njihovega počutja v delovnem okolju. Osnovan je na interaktivnih poglavjih in vključuje tudi povezave do uporabnih spletnih strani iz področja promocije zdravja, ki olajšajo strokovnjakom za zdravje in varnost pri delu pripravo ustreznih ukrepov ter z njimi povezanih dejavnosti, kot jih narekujejo sodobne smernice na področju obvladovanja psihosocialnih tveganj. Posebno poglavje priročnika je namenjeno navodilom za delo s spletnim orodjem e- OPSA, s pomočjo katerega se izdela ocena psihosocialnih obremenitev zaposlenih in tveganja za razvoj prekomernega stresa, absentizma, prezentizma, fluktuacije ter izpostavljenosti nasilju na delovnem mestu.

    Analiza naravnih pokrajinskih tipov Slovenije z GIS-om (2022)

    Description: This volume analyzes two natural landscape typologies of Slovenia using quantitative methods and data layers. Based on two existing manually outlined typologies, several modeled natural landscape typologies were then produced using selected data layers and different geo-information tools. The main part of the analysis is focused on studying the compatibility of the modeled and original natural landscape typologies and on how successfully the original typologies can be reproduced using numerical models. By comparing the models and originals, it was also possible to establish the locations of the types that have been classified (confirmed) the same by different methods and those that have not been confirmed by any model. In conclusion, the volume presents findings on the use of GIS for identifying natural landscape types in Slovenia and proposes specific procedures for classifying Slovenia or other areas into natural landscape types and procedures for their evaluation. This volume also presents examples of various regionalizations and typologies, and lists available digital data layers and geo-information tools that can be used to make various typologies.
    Description: V monografiji je predstavljena analiza dveh obstoječih naravnopokrajinskih tipizacij Slovenije z različnimi kvantitativnimi metodami in podatkovnimi sloji. V praktičnem delu raziskave smo s štirimi podatkovnimi sloji in različnimi geoinformacijskimi orodji na podlagi dveh obstoječih, ročno začrtanih tipizacij izdelali več modeliranih naravnopokrajinskih tipizacij. Osrednji del analize je namreč osredotočen na preučevanje usklajenosti modeliranih in izvirnih naravnopokrajinskih tipizacij oziroma na vprašanje, kako uspešno lahko izdelavo izvirnih tipizacij ponovimo s številskimi modeli. S primerjavo modelov in izvirnikov smo ugotovili, kje v Sloveniji so območja posameznih tipov, ki so po različnih metodah klasificirana (potrjena) enako, in kje so območja tipov, ki jih ni potrdil noben model. Na koncu so navedene tudi ugotovitve o uporabi GIS-ov za določanje naravnih pokrajinskih tipov Slovenije ter predlagani postopki tipizacije Slovenije ali drugih območij na naravne pokrajinske tipe in postopki za njihovo vrednotenje. V knjigi smo navedli tudi primere regionalizacij in tipizacij ter dostopne podatkovne sloje in orodja, s katerimi lahko izdelamo tipizacije.
