    Description: This collection presents the state of the art on English-medium instruction (EMI) / Integrating content and language (ICL) in Italian higher education, drawing attention to different critical aspects of the teaching/learning experience and highlighting the perspectives of various educational stakeholders regarding the effectiveness of tertiary study in a foreign language. The chapters draw on a range of methodologies, from multimodal participant observation, to action research, to video-stimulated recall (VSR), to questionnaires and interviews, in examining language policies and practices across various educational settings. Overall, the volume suggests that internationalisation succeeds best when the form of lessons (language) and the content of lessons (disciplinary concepts) are constructively aligned in curriculum planning and delivery. This integration process requires the strategic support of educators to guarantee the quality of learning in multilingual education.

    Description: Digital media, technology, new theoretical perspectives have revolutionized the ways of interacting among individuals, acquiring information and knowledge, teaching, behaving in multicultural society and so on and so forth. The impact of new ways of communicating, social media, political platforms on daily lives is evident. Multifaced and different aspects of these topics have been discussed in the VI World conference on Media and Communication (MEDCOM), which was supposed to be held in Cagliari, in May 2020, and it has been postponed to June 2021, online. During that year, communicating revealed even more relevant for citizen live. We assisted to the great importance of best practices in crisis communication, and the critical situations generated by fake news and information overload.

    Description: I quaderni di laboratorio di Antoine-Laurent Lavoisier (1743-1794) sono fonti preziose per chi studia la cosiddetta “nuova chimica” del Settecento. Tutt’ora inediti, questi documenti sono qui riletti alla luce di un dettaglio: la presenza, tra una pagina e l’altra, della grafia di Marie-Anne Paulze-Lavoisier (1758-1836), moglie e collaboratrice del celebre chimico francese. È in effetti lei, ben più di altri assistenti, a compilare questo grande “archivio dell’esperimento”, per poi conservarlo (senza mai smettere di maneggiarlo) nei quattro decenni che seguirono la morte del marito nel 1794. Un lavoro che lei stessa assimilava con orgoglio a quello di un «segretario». Questo libro ricuce insieme queste storie, aprendo nuove prospettive tra storia materiale della scienza, storia sociale e storia delle donne e di genere.

European Women in Architecture and Design. 1918-2018 brings together a selection of some of the most significant and representative examples of European architecture and design created by 100 women from the end of the First World War up until today. The number of works is symbolic, as ‘one hundred’ could also mean ‘countless’ as in the Latin word centium.

European Women in Architecture and Design. 1918-2018 prinaša izbor nekaterih najbolj reprezentativnih primerov evropske arhitekture in oblikovanja, ki jih je sto žensk ustvarilo v obdobju od konca prve svetovne vojne do danes. Izbrano število del je simbolično, saj 'sto' v latinščini lahko pomeni tudi 'nešteto' (lat. centium), medtem ko število ustvarjalk – vsako delo ima drugo avtorico – izhaja iz namena MoMoWo projekta predstaviti čim več različnih avtoric in s tem posledično osvetliti tudi manj znane osebnosti. Katalog vsebuje biografije arhitektk, gradbenih inženirk, oblikovalk na področju notranjega in industrijskega oblikovanja, urbanistk in krajinskih arhitektk iz 26-tih držav. Zastopane so glavne smeri in pomembne 'šole' na področju arhitekture in oblikovanja iz vse Evrope. Biografski podatki obsegajo izobrazbo in šolanje, poklicno pot ustvarjalk, mreže v katerih so ženske delovale, vključno z neformalnimi skupinami, članstvom v institucijah in združenjih, njihov profil na mednarodnem, nacionalnem, lokalnem in regionalnem nivoju, kot tudi kako so predstavljale svoje delo na razstavah, v publikacijah, na javnih natečajih itd.

    Description: Since the last decades of the 20th century, there have been an increasing attention on the ageing of population and on the need to develop specific interventions aiming to promote wellbeing and quality of life of ageing individuals (Petretto et al., 2016, 2017, 2018, Pili and Petretto, 2019). World Health Organization (WHO) considered the development of those interventions as a priority and asked countries to create a research and intervention agenda with a focus on the promotion of healthy and active ageing. According to a biopsychosocial approach, WHO defined some pillars at the base of healthy and active ageing. Moreover, WHO focused their attention on eating and healthy lifestyles as ways to promote wellbeing and longevity (WHO, 2002, WHO, 2012, Paul et al., 2012). There are increasing research findings in this field, also by cross-national comparisons and by the development of intervention models aimed to prevent “not-communicable disorders” and to promote wellbeing.

    Description: Molnik is a hill in the hinterland of Ljubljana in central Slovenia that has been known as an archaeological site for quite some time. Systematic investigations ensued in the 1980s and 1990s, led by Ivan Puš, then curator in the Mestni muzej Ljubljana. They revealed ramparts and habitation terraces on the summit of the hill, as well as flat and tumulus graves on five locations around the summit that date to the Early Iron Age and some finds from later periods.

    Description: Dwelling can be conceived as making sense of a portion of space or as a condition of possibility of human existence; besides, there exist innumerable situations d’habiter, that is, the particular modalities with which human groups settle in specific places or with which individuals organise their lives. In any case, as dwelling precisely involves the very essence of mankind, it constitutes a crossroads in which various fields of knowledge and several practices enter in a dialogue, up to the point of re-discussing their status on different levels, from the anthropological one to the more specifically methodological or procedural one. The contributions of this volume try to reflect on the meaning of dwelling, involving philosophical and architectural discourse, historical and ethno-anthropological investigation, the contributions of geography, the artistic experience and the literary and cinematographic horizons.

    Description: L’abitare può essere concepito come conferimento di senso di una porzione di spazio o come la condizione di possibilità dell’esistenza umana; d’altro canto, appaiono innumerevoli le situations d’habiter, cioè le modalità particolari con le quali i gruppi umani si insediano in luoghi specifici o con le quali i singoli individui ordinano le loro vite. In ogni caso, proprio perché coinvolge l’essenza stessa del genere umano, l’abitare costituisce un crocevia nel quale si confrontano svariati saperi e diverse pratiche, fino a giungere a ridiscutere il loro statuto su diversi piani, da quello antropologico a quello più propriamente metodologico o procedurale.     Description: This book depicts the results of a research project in northern China, where an international and interdisciplinary team of researchers from Italy, Germany and China has applied a broad range of methodology in order to answer basic and applied research questions and derive comprehensive recommendations for sustainable water management and wetland restoration. The project primarily focused on ecosystem services, e.g. the purification of water and biomass production. In particular, the ecosystem function and use of reed (Phragmites australis) and the perception as well as the value of water as a resource for Central Asia's multicultural societies was analysed.

    Description: The conception of sustainability, in land governance, goes beyond environmental protection in that, beyond the environmental profile, it includes the economic and social profile. It therefore highlights the need to make the requirements of economic development compatible with those of natural resource protection, equity and social progress. With this in mind, the Region of Sardinia has approved the Regional Strategy for Sustainable Development (SRSvS), as a declination of the National Strategy, consistent with the United Nations 2030 Agenda. This volume presents and discusses the results of the research developed during the SOSLabs Research Laboratory of the SOSLabs1 Project, conducted, at the University of Cagliari, under the call issued in 2019 by the Directorate General for Sustainable Development, Environmental Damage and Relations with the European Union of the then Ministry of the Environment and Protection of Land and Sea (now the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security). The outcomes are based on a methodological approach that integrates SRSvS into the practice of spatial and urban planning in the municipal and metropolitan context, through a model in which plan construction is permeated by assessment. Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is taken as the scientific and technical reference, by virtue of its being deeply innervated in the plan process, almost identifying itself with the plan itself, both in the preparatory and implementation phases. The methodology of integrating SRSvS into the planning and evaluation process is applied, experimentally, to two urban plans: the Preliminary Municipal Plan of the Municipality of Cagliari and the Plan of the Tepilora Regional Nature Park.

    Description: La concezione della sostenibilità, nel governo del territorio, va oltre la tutela dell’ambiente in quanto, oltre il profilo ambientale, include quelli economici e sociali. Si evidenzia, quindi, la necessità di rendere compatibili le esigenze dello sviluppo economico con quelle della tutela delle risorse naturali, e dell’equità e del progresso sociale. In quest’ottica, la Regione Sardegna ha approvato la Strategia regionale per lo sviluppo sostenibile (SRSvS), quale declinazione della Strategia nazionale, in coerenza con l’Agenda 2030 delle Nazioni Unite. Il volume presenta e discute i risultati di una ricerca sviluppata durante lo svolgimento del Laboratorio di ricercaazione SOSLab1 del Progetto SOSLabs, condotto, presso l’Università di Cagliari, nell’ambito del bando emanato nel 2019 dalla Direzione Generale per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile, per il Danno Ambientale e per i Rapporti con l’Unione Europea dell’allora Ministero dell’Ambiente e della Tutela del territorio e del mare (oggi Ministero dell’Ambiente e della Sicurezza energetica). Gli esiti si basano su un approccio metodologico che integra la SRSvS nella prassi della pianificazione territoriale e urbanistica nel contesto comunale e metropolitano, tramite un modello in cui la costruzione del piano è permeata dalla valutazione. Si assume quale riferimento scientifico e tecnico la valutazione ambientale strategica (VAS), in virtù del suo essere profondamente innervata nel processo di piano, quasi ad identificarsi con il piano stesso, sia nelle fasi preparatorie, che attuative. La metodologia di integrazione della SRSvS nel processo di pianificazione e valutazione è applicata, sperimentalmente, a due piani urbanistici: il Piano urbanistico comunale preliminare del Comune di Cagliari e il Piano del Parco naturale regionale di Tepilora.

    Description: A good knowledge of the natural and cultural heritage of karst is a precondition for the rational planning of life on it. We try to organize the knowledge to make it as useful as possible for planners. We are involved in individual projects related to the regional planning, water supply systems, the construction of transportation infrastructure, the closure of landfills in karst areas, the collection of data on karst caves and their protection, karst ecology and determining the extent of human influence on the karst underground. A new book series Karstology and development challenges on karst was designed to present the results of completed and new projects to a broader public.The first book with the subtitle Water contains selected directly applicable research studies on karst waters, their characteristics, endangerment, and protection. It is composed of ten chapters, which can be grouped into three main themes. In the introduction the importance, characteristics and vulnerability of karst aquifers are presented,then various case studies of pollution and endangerment are described (traffic, landfills, military objects, flooding), and at the end some guidelines for the protection of karst water sources are summarized. The book is a bilingual publication in Slovene and English. It is aimed at a broad circle of users, researchers, students and planners.
    Description: Dobro poznavanje naravne in kulturne dediščine krasa je pogoj za smiselno načrtovanje življenja na njem. Pridobljeno temeljno znanje skušamo krasoslovci urediti tako, da je kar čimbolj uporabno tudi načrtovalcem. Vključeni smo v posamezne projekte regionalnega načrtovanja, oskrbe z vodo, gradnje prometnic, zapiranja odlagališč na krasu, zbiranja podatkov o kraških jamah in njihovega varovanja, kraške ekologije in ugotavljanja človekovega vpliva na kras. Za predstavitev svežih izsledkov širši javnosti smo oblikovali serijo Krasoslovje v razvojnih izzivih na krasu. V prvi knjigi s podnaslovom Voda smo združili izbrane neposredno uporabne študije o kraških vodah, njihovih značilnostih, ogroženosti in varovanju. Sestavljena je iz desetih poglavij, ki jih lahko razdelimo v tri sklope. V uvodu so predstavljeni pomen, značilnosti in ranljivost kraških vodonosnikov, sledijo različni primeri ogroženosti kraških vod (prometnice, odlagališča odpadkov, vojaški objekti, poplave), na koncu pa je zbranih še nekaj smernic za varovanje kraških vodnih virov.

    Introduction to the Dinaric Karst (2022)

    Description: Dinaric karst is expansive, 800 km long and up to 150 km wide area of karst, which extends over majority of Dinaric mountains and therefore also over the southwestern part of Slovenia. Dinaric karst is an important karst area with remarkable caves, big sinking streams and abundant karst springs. Well-expresed karst phenomena of Dinaric karst lead to early descriptions and karstological investigations. During the 19th century, a term karst was for the first time used for description of specific area without a superficial drainage system. Some Slavic words for relief forms (doline, polje, uvala, ponor) became world-wide terms. Dinaric karst is also a place of first descriptions of troglobionts. In spite of many other karst areas investigated all over the world Dinaric karst still remains one of the most important karst areas. Dinaric karst is locus tipicus of many features and phenomena. It is place of deep scientific investigation and also the place, where karstologists from all over the globe meet together. Publication in popular science language describes the basic characteristics of Dinaric karst and Slovene examples of relief types in the Dinaric karst area.

    Description: Didactic publication is just one of the results of an international project R.A.V.E Space, which aims with young people to raise the awareness of values of space through the process of education. The state of the space and the changes that have occurred within in it over extended time periods can be most easily found out using a variety of graphical materials. Among these, cartographic and photographic materials, in classical or electronic form, stand out and form an indispensable tool in teaching young people about space and its importance for the continuing development of society. We highlight in particular the use of different maps, aerial photos, three-dimensional and simulated models and photographs of an area from different time periods. We have presented a selection of cartographic and other graphical teaching tools at seminars for teachers, showing how they can be used to teach pupils about the significance and role of space for sustainable development.

    Description: The routes between the north Adriatic and the Apennine peninsula on the west and the Balkans and the central Danubian plains on the east ran across Razdrto ever since ancient times. In the late prehistory and in the early Roman era the pass of Razdrto was known under the name of Ocra as was the mountain above it.Several Bronze age sites were discovered in the area of the Razdrto pass.The posts in the Razdrto area from the end of the 2nd and first half of the 1st century BC (Mandrga, Preval) differ from the other sites along the east Alpine routes, as they were not spatially linked to any of the existing indigenous settlements and did not show any contact with the surroundings even with their small objects. Most of the remains can be explained as traces of Roman passengers who stopped at Razdrto for a shorter period of time and not as remnants of a significant Roman settlement.A gravel covered road was constructed across the Razdrto pass in the second half of the 1st century BC or in the Augustan period. A roadside building was erected in the middle or late Augustan period and demolished in the mid 1st century AD.The shift of transit from Razdrto to Hrušica (Ad Pirum) took place in the 1st century AD. Post 1st century AD written sources no longer mention the road across Ocra, and the archaeological remains dating after the mid 1st century AD are extremely modest at Razdrto.
    Description: Delo prinaša temeljno objavo in analizo arheoloških najdišč, ki so bila na območju Razdrtega odkrita in raziskana ob gradnji avtoceste leta 1989. Zaključek pa predstavlja rimske poti čez jugovzhodne Alpe in širši pomen arheoloških najdišč na Razdrtem.

Predstavljene so konkretne izkušnje z razvijanjem participativnega urbanega kmetijstva, ki so vplivale na izboljšanje javnih storitev, spodbujale aktivnejše državljanstvo, krepile sodelovanje javnosti in prispevale k trajnostnemu razvoju mest. Knjižica prinaša konceptualni premislek o urbanem kmetijstvu in njegovo sistematizacijo~analizo političnega okvira, ki podpira participativno urbano kmetijstvo v Podonavju~pregled evropskih programov in projektov, ki razvijajo urbano kmetijstvo in se posvečajo enakim ciljem kot projekt AgriGo4Cities~in predstavitev izbranih dobrih praks participativnega urbanega kmetijstva, katerih namen je predstaviti možne pristope k vzpostavljanju uspešnih participativnih vrtov.     Description: With notary books we are not dealing with literary readings, but with abstracts of a mass of business manuscript agreements of various contents. The subject of this publication is the preserved parts of the third, ninth, and tenth notary fascicles from the Piran Branch Office of the Regional Archives of Koper. The fragments contain the models of documents created in the period 1284–1296. The authors of summaries in the preserved fragments of notary fascicles are Facina Grimaldi, Facina (Vitali?) and Francisscus de Malonbris.
    Description: Šesti zvezek piranskih notarskih knjig prinaša znanstveno-kritično objavo ohranjenih fragmentov treh notarskih knjig iz edinstvenega gradiva piranske izpostave Pokrajinskega arhiva Koper. Gre za dele tretje, devete in desete knjige. Prvi vsebuje 255, drugi 22 in tretji 422 skrčenih latinskih predlog notarskih listin iz razdobja 1284 do 1296. Vpisi v notarskih knjigah so pestrih vsebin in slikajo gospodarsko, družbeno in vsakdanje življenje v Piranu in okolici, nudijo podatke o prebivalstvu, njegovi etnični pripadnosti, o historični topografiji, pravni praksi itd. Kulturna dediščina notarskih knjig vpenja slovensko primorje v širši mediteranski prostor, ki ga je odlikovala praksa vodenja notarskih kodeksov. Objava vsebuje uvodno študijo, prepise izvirnikov, ki so opremljeni z datacijami, oznakami vsebin in opombami, ter imenski, pojmovni seznam in seznam vsebin vpisov. Ta pomagala olajšujejo uporabniku razumevanje in orientacijo v latinskem delu besedila. Uvodna študija, pojasnila k prepisom ter seznama pojmov in vsebin so – v želji spodbuditi širši krog uporabnikov k raziskavam preteklosti severozahodne Istre – prevedeni tudi v angleščino.

    Description: Glavnina knjige je faksimile rokopisa, ki ga je leta 1856 napisal angleški duhovnik John Oliver po svojem obisku Postojnske jame v letih 1837 in 1852. Kljub temu v knjigi piše le malo o svojih izkušnjah, saj je večji del knjige prevod Schnaffenrathovega vodnika Beschreibung der berühmten Grotte bei Adelsberg in Krain iz leta 1834 v angleščino. Več Oliverjevih pripomb je v posebnem dodatku, ki vsebuje nekaj njegovih osebnih opažanj, kot tudi opis obiska Vilenice. Celota je ilustrirana s slikami iz takratnih knjig, kot tudi z nekaterimi njegovimi izvirnimi slikami in risbami. Daljši uvod Trevorja Shawa, ki je odkril ta dragocen, vrsto let domnevno izgubljen rokopis, razkrije, kdo je bil avtor »J. O.« in obrazloži pomen prevedenega vodnika iz leta 1834, kot tudi njegov vpliv na kasnejše vodnike po Krasu.

    Description: The in depth archaeological research of High Medieval castle presented in this book is unique in Slovenia and among just few in this part of Central Europe. The book is based on analysis of the archaeological data gathered in more than a decade of archaeological excavations in 1980s and 1990s.In the introductory chapter written sources and interpretative models are presented. The analysis of pictorial representations follows. The focus of the research is on the archaeological sources, though. Above all the analysis of the small finds, stratigraphy and spatial analysis of the castle itself and the castle in the landscape should be mentioned.
    Description: Knjiga je prva znanstvena monografija o arheologiji visoko srednjeveškega gradu v Sloveniji in se uvršča med le peščico tovrstnih knjig v širšem prostoru. Monografija sloni predvsem na analizi podatkov iz desetletja arheoloških izkopavanj v 80. in 90. letih 20. stoletja. V začetnem delu so predstavljeni pisni viri in interpretativni modeli v zvezi z nastankom in pomenom gradu. Sledi prikaz maloštevilnih, a nikakor ne nepomembnih slikovnih virov. Glavnino študije predstavljajo arheološki viri, predvsem priročniško uporabna tipokronološka analiza artefaktov, stratigrafija najdišča in prostorska analiza gradu.

    Description: The book presents a wealth of historical cartographic representations of Slovenian territory. It is divided into two main parts. The first or the text part briefly presents the history of European cartography up to the end of the nineteenth century, maps of the Slovenian territory up to the early twentieth century and maps as cultural heritage. In the second or cartographic part, in turn, features important historical maps of the Slovenian territory presented in chronological order. The format of the book enables an excellent presentation of the presented maps. The maps presented date from the mid-sixteenth century, when the first independent maps of present-day Slovenia were produced, to the beginning of the twentieth century, when cartography developed into a modern discipline. The aim of this book is to present the extensive Slovenian cartographic heritage.
    Description: Monografija predstavlja bogastvo zgodovinskih kartografskih upodobitev slovenskega ozemlja. Razdeljena je na besedilni in slikovni del. V besedilnem delu so predstavljeni zgodovina evropske kartografije do konca 19. stoletja, kartografski prikazi slovenskega ozemlja do začetka 20. stoletja ter zemljevidi kot kulturna dediščina. Slikovni del monografije pa prinaša kronološki prikaz pomembnejših zgodovinskih zemljevidov slovenskega ozemlja. Format knjige omogoča odličen prikaz zemljevidov od srede 16. stoletja, ko so nastala prva samostojna kartografska dela današnjega slovenskega ozemlja, do začetka 20. stoletja, ko se kartografija razvije v sodobno vedo.     Description: Most na Soči ranks among the most prominent prehistoric sites in Europe. It is mainly known for the extensive cemetery from the Early Iron Age, which was first investigated in the late 19th century and revealed over 6000 burials. The rapid growth of the modern village of Most na Soči again led to large-scale archaeological excavations in the 1970s. These were conducted in the span of eleven years and unearthed one of the most significant Iron Age settlements in Slovenia and the wider south-eastern Alpine region.
    Description: Most na Soči sodi med najpomembnejša prazgodovinska najdišča Evrope. Znano je postalo zlasti po veliki nekropoli iz starejše železne dobe, ki so jo raziskovali ob koncu devetnajstega stoletja in na kateri so izkopali čez 6000 grobov.Hiter razvoj kraja je v sedemdesetih letih prejšnjega stoletja vzpodbudil ponovna arheološka izkopavanja. Trajala so enajst let, v tem času pa je bilo na območju današnje vasi temeljito raziskano eno najpomembnejših železnodobnih naselij ne le pri nas temveč tudi na širšem jugovzhodnoalpskem prostoru.Na začetku monografije je podan geografski oris kraja, temu pa sledi izčrpna zgodovina raziskovanj, ki ji je dodan seznam dosedanjih objav.V osrednjem delu knjige so predstavljeni gradbeni izvidi šestintridesetih hiš, ki so bile odkrite v vzhodnem predelu današnjega Mosta na Soči.Besedilo spremlja 229 načrtov in fotografij, ki odlično dopolnjujejo detajlne opise objektov.V zadnjem delu monografije je na sto tablah predstavljeno drobno gradivo, ki je bilo najdeno v stavbah.

    Description: Historical aerial photographs are an often overlooked source of information for archaeological, historical and landscape research. This monograph provides an overview and introduction to the collections which found their origin in the First World War and which are amongst the earliest systematic aerial collections. Along the Western Front from the end of 1915 onwards, aerial photo-reconnaissance units were sent out to record the outline of the enemy’s defences. The photographs were produced by an almost industrial process, brought together over four years, and survive in large quantities~archival collections are spread out across Europe, the United States and even Australia. The most important and interesting collections are discussed and dealt with, with a focus on their content, quantity, and geographic distribution.

    Middle Miocene Calcareous Nannoplankton of NE Slovenia (Western Central Paratethys) (2022)

    Description: The monograph presents Badenian calcareous nannoplankton from NE Slovenia. Several hundred samples from 22 measured sections have been studied. In total, 109 species of calcareous nannoplankton are determined and described, many of which are new to Slovenia. The entire interval studied was assigned to the Middle Miocene. The excellent preservation and high species diversity enabled a precise subdivision of this interval into 6 successive interval zones, correlated with the absolute time scale (15.5 – 13.1 Ma) and with the 3rd order eustatic cycles (TB2.3, TB2.4 and TB2.5). Lists of all examined nannoplankton assemblages and their paleoecological analyses are also included. The monograph is a comprehensive review of the taxonomy, biostratigraphy and paleoecology of Miocene calcareous nannoplankton in the western part of the Central Paratethys.
    Description: Monografija predstavlja rezultate celovite študije kalcitnega nanoplanktona iz badenijskih plasti Slovenskih goric. Iz več sto vzorcev z 22 posnetih profilov je določenih in opisanih 109 vrst nanofosilov, mnoge med njimi so nove za Slovenijo. Preučevani interval je v celoti uvrščen v srednji miocen. Odlična ohranjenost nanofosilov in velika diverziteta sta omogočili zelo natančno razdelitev obravnavanega intervala na 6 lokalnih intervalnih con, ki so korelirane z absolutno časovno lestvico (15,5–13,1 milijonov let) ter z globalnimi evstatičnimi cikli 3. reda (TB2.3, TB2.4 in TB2.5). Monografija vsebuje tudi podatke o sestavi vseh obravnavanih nanoplanktonskih združb in podaja paleoekološko analizo. Monografija je izčrpen prikaz taksonomije, biostratigrafije in paleoekologije miocenskega kalcitnega nanoplanktona v zahodnem delu Centralne Paratetide.

    Description: È raro incontrare i termini “religiosa”, “sacra” o “devozionale” tra i diversi aggettivi che accompagnano il sostantivo “fotografia”. Si tratta di una tipologia non rilevata, a dispetto di un fenomeno che si presenta fin dalle origini di dimensioni rimarchevoli. Questo volume si prefigge di porre l’accento non tanto sulla fotografia come fonte per la storia religiosa, quanto sul suo utilizzo nei processi di promozione del culto dei santi e nella prassi devozionale: l’introduzione della macchina fotografica nella sfera del sacro e la sua evoluzione in una pratica di “massa” determinano l’inserimento dell’immaginario agiografico nell’universo mediatico in un processo di contaminazione tra sacro e profano. Il volume si caratterizza per un approccio marcatamente interdisciplinare in cui la prospettiva storico-religiosa e agiografica si confronta con la storia della fotografia, l’antropologia, la sociologia, la storia dell’arte.

    Description: The papers contained in this booklet were presented at the transnational conference “Employment/Working Conditions, Occupational Safety and Health of Posted Workers” in Ljubljana, Slovenia (15 February 2017). The conference brought together experts (researchers and practitioners) from several European countries to discuss the existing and new challenges related to OSH (occupational safety and health), labour, and working conditions of posted workers. The conference served as the launch event of the POOSH project, financed by the European Comission (Programme EaSI PROGRESS) and led by Dr. Kristina Toplak from the Slovenian Migration Institute at ZRC SAZU. The booklet is covering the topic of the OSH of posted workers from several angles. The first part is framed around contributions given by researchers working in the field of labor mobility, with the focus on the occupational safety and health of posted workers. The second part contains contributions from practitioners working in NGOs, trade unions or Ministries of Labour who presented their work as well as discussed national and transnational legislations related to the OSH of posted workers.

Na konferenci so sodelovali raziskovalci in strokovnjaki iz več evropskih držav, ki so razpravljali o obstoječih in novih izzivih povezanih z varnostjo in zdravjem pri delu ter o delovnih pogojih napotenih delavcev. Prvi del temelji na prispevkih raziskovalcev, ki se ukvarjajo z mobilnostjo in delovnimi migracijami, s poudarkom na tematiki varnosti in zdravja pri delu napotenih delavcev. Drugi del vsebuje prispevke strokovnjakov, predvsem predstavnikov nevladnih organizacijah, sindikatov ali ministerstev, ki so v prispevkih predstavili svoje delo in razpravljali o nacionalnih in nadnacionalnih zakonodajah, ki se nanašajo na napotene delavce ter na področje varnosti in zdravja pri delu.

    Description: This volume collects part of the lectures and key-notes given at the 2020 edition of the International Smart City School: imagination, planning, governance and tools. The year's theme, "energies of and for the city," was addressed, as in the school's founding idea, from a multidisciplinary perspective by delving into both possible policy scenarios and more strictly technical aspects. Thus emerges a vision of a city that, to orient its development in terms of smartness, sustainability and resilience, must necessarily combine nature and technology, economy and culture, social cohesion and entrepreneurship, innovation and tradition. In this framework, the Sustainable Development Goal's (SDG's) outlined in the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the ways cities can contribute to their achievement occupy a prominent place. Indeed, the technologies available today make it possible to achieve these goals as well as to respond effectively to the challenges that cities, in their capacity as the main attractors of the world's population, will face thanks to their ability to succeed, when properly implemented, in interpreting the new themes of economic development (circularity, sharing, openess) in a way that ensures equal opportunities for all, intergenerationally and intragenerationally.

The concepts of efficiency and effectiveness have been defined in the field of business sciences, but have had a much wider impact. An efficient and effective administrative system, in fact, affects the system of values that are the basis of our society, since it makes it possible for citizens to concretely enjoy the services that are recognized by the regulatory system. This requirement appears even more meaningful in Italy, where the principle of so-called "substantial" equality is recognized by the Constitution.; Il libro affronta la questione del buon andamento della pubblica amministrazione usando un approccio interdisciplinare (giuridico, politologico, aziendalistico, ed economico). I concetti di efficienza ed efficacia sono stati definiti nell’ambito delle scienze aziendalistiche, ma hanno avuto un impatto ben più ampio. Un sistema amministrativo efficiente ed efficace, infatti, incide sul sistema di valori che sono a base della nostra società, poiché rende possibile ai cittadini fruire concretamente dei servizi che sono loro riconosciuti dall’ordinamento normativo. Tale esigenza appare ancora più pregnante in Italia, ove il principio di eguaglianza “sostanziale” è riconosciuto dalla Costituzione.

Začetna, slovensko-italijanska razdelka vsebujeta prepis narečnega besedila Oblačila naših dedkov in babic glavne informantke Marie Moschitz, obogaten s slikovnim gradivom, in slovarski uvod s predstavitvijo raziskave, prikazom sestave gesel ter seznamom kratic in krajšav. Slovar v celoti temelji na prepisih posnetkov narečnih besedil, urejenih v podatkovno zbirko. Lažje iskanje po slovarju (tudi več- in drugojezičnim uporabnikom) omogočajo knjižnoslovensko-narečni, italijansko-slovenskonarečni in nemško-slovenskonarečni seznam.

    Description: The contributions thematise love to a homeland in groups and individuals who fail to conform to the dominant understanding of patriotism~this often renders them inapt patriots and they are, hence, symbolically deprived of loving their homeland. The authors thematise love for homeland(s) in im/migrants, members of ethnic and sexual minorities, mixed marriage children, anarchists and social critics and activists. The authors and the people depicted stand for understanding and practicing the so-called critical patriotism, a practice best subsumed in the phrase: “use your mind”.
    Description: Prispevki v knjigi tematizirajo ljubezen do domovine pri posameznikih in skupinah, ki ne ustrezajo prevladujočem pojmovanju domoljuba, zaradi česar se jim simbolno odvzame pravica do ljubezni do domovine. Avtorji obravnavajo ljubezen do domovin/e pri izseljencih, priseljencih, pripadnikih etničnih in spolnih manjšin, otrocih iz mešanih zakonov, anarhistih ter družbenih kritikih in aktivistih. Tako avtorji prispevkov kot njihovi akterji se zavzemajo za razumevanje in prakticiranje kritičnega domoljubja, za držo, ki jo najbolje povzemajo besede »misli s svojo glavo«.

    Description: Il volume è dedicato allo studio dei boschi della Repubblica di Venezia, delle loro caratteristiche, dei metodi di gestione, del complesso meccanismo di approvvigionamento del legname per la cantieristica navale e della sua utilizzazione da parte dell’Arsenale. Vengono affrontate tematiche relative all’evoluzione dei sistemi costruttivi e dei costi di produzione di galee, galeazze e altre imbarcazioni a remi; da fine Seicento anche di vascelli, fregate e altri bastimenti a vela, in connessione con la trasformazione delle tecniche della navigazione e di quelle della guerra sul mare. Sono prese in considerazione le complesse questioni attinenti alla pressione esercitata sui boschi, soprattutto quelli di rovere, che forniscono la materia prima essenziale; i particolari regimi giuridici cui vengono sottoposti, sottraendoli alla disponibilità delle comunità locali; gli strumenti, a volte fortemente innovativi, usati a fini di conoscenza e di controllo, quali la compilazione di catastici e mappe; il ruolo esercitato dagli organi politici e tecnici dell’Arsenale nell’opera di governo e gestione; i valori e i limiti della riforma forestale che viene faticosamente approvata negli ultimi anni di vita della Repubblica.

    Description: E.A. Martel (1859-1938) is rightly regarded as one of the most important people in the history of cave study. Writing in French, as he did, his work was little known in those parts of central Europe that were in the Austrian empire. Thus much of what he wrote about the Classical Karst was not readily accessible to those now living in that area. It is for that reason that this English translation of his 1894 publication has been made. Martel had been in Slovenia from 14 September 1893 to mid October. He was shown the principal caves and karst features of the region by Wilhelm Putick who had been exploring these places from 1886 onwards. This assistance had been authorised by Count Falkenhayn, the Minister of Agriculture in Wien. Such was the importance with which Martel was regarded internationally.

    Description: The present volume of proceedings represents the first Slovenian book uniting well-nigh all the humanistic disciplines in a common task: to reflect on the role of scholarly editions in their own field. Moreover, it is the first to reflect systematically on the methodological and ecdotic issues of scholarly editions in the light of the possibilities opening with the electronic presentation of texts. While some humanistic disciplines in Slovenia boast a long tradition of scholarly editions, reaching back to the first half of the 19th century, others have begun to consolidate their editorial standards fairly recently.

Founder of the People's Party after World War I, lawyer and journalist in the 1920s and 1930s in Nuoro, stronghold of the antifascism of an educated and courageous professional bourgeoisie. Mannironi, in the post-World War II period, would be one of the most active members of the Commission of 75 in the Constituent Assembly, later a Christian Democratic parliamentarian for five terms in the House and Senate, undersecretary of key ministries, and finally a minister. Private correspondence, articles, records of the repressive apparatuses during the regime, and parliamentary reports composed a picture that transcends the individual biography by revealing the commitment of the new ruling class, that would build the foundations of the Italian republican democracy by opening it to regional autonomy.

    Description: The monograph presents the results of two-year excavations (1982 and 1983) on the late-antique fortified hilltop settlement Korinjski hrib above Veliki Korini in Suha Krajina, where the remains of five defence towers and an early Christian church were explored. The settlement was initially recognized as a military post and as such represented an exception in the Eastern Alpine area. Such a definition raised some doubts and dilemmas. These dilemmas are presented - in addition to geographical outline and research history - in the Introduction.The following set presents - in text and with abundant graphic material – field reports of excavations of towers, the church, and a small cemetery.All groups of finds (non-pottery, pottery and coins) and anthropological and archaeological studies are also presented.An extensive chapter is devoted to the interpretation of architectural remains (towers, church, the fort as a whole).The conclusion also discusses the prehistoric settlement, and the results of structural survey of the ruins of church of St George just below the fort.
    Description: V monografiji so predstavljeni rezultati dveletnih izkopavanj (1982 in 1983) na utrjeni poznoantični višinski naselbini Korinjski hrib nad Velikim Korinjem v Suhi Krajini, kjer so bili raziskani ostanki petih obrambnih stolpov in zgodnjekrščanske cerkve. Naselbina je bila že v začetku prepoznana kot vojaška postojanka in je kot taka predstavljala izjemo v vzhodnoalpskem prostoru. Taka opredelitev je zato vzbudila tudi nekatere dvome o njeni pravilnosti. Omenjene dileme so − poleg geografskega orisa in zgodovine raziskav − predstavljene v uvodnem delu. Sledi obsežen sklop, ki v tekstu in z bogatim slikovnim gradivom predstavi terenske izvide izkopavanj stolpov, cerkve in pripadajočega manjšega grobišča.Obsežno poglavje je posvečeno interpretaciji arhitekturnih ostankov (stolpi, cerkev, utrdba kot celota). V zakjučku je obravnavana še prazgodovinska poselitev ter rezultati strukturnega pregleda danes porušene cerkvice sv. Jurija tik pod utrdbo.

    Description: Knjiga Inovativne politike za alpska mesta predstavlja rezultate projekta CAPACities, v katerem smo preučevali vlogo mest v alpskem svetu. Pri tem smo se osredotočili na definicijo malih alpskih mest, njihovo vpetost v policentrični razvojni koncept, bistveni poudarek pa je bil na njihovi konkurenčnosti in privlačnosti. Teoretske podlage smo nadgradili z analizo razpoložljivih podatkov, še pomembnejše pa so bile aktivnosti v pilotnih območjih, s katerimi smo skušali ugotovitve prenašati v prakso. Predstavljene specifike pilotnih območij in tam izvedene aktivnosti so nam bile v pomoč pri izdelavi smernic in orodij za spodbujanje razvoja malih alpskih mest.

The Project examined the current territory of Cagliari from a "between sea and lagoon" reading perspective, tracing the historical events and the geological and archaeological phenomena of the various settlements, from the Judicial citadel of Sancta Caecilia, Ilia, Ygia, on the shores of the Santa Gilla Lagoon, to the Castel di Castro/Caller with its Appendices of medieval and modern times. Following the same time frame, the Proceedings of the Conference sees the light of day in two parts, the first of which focuses on the historical-urban affairs of the buried and almost forgotten Sancta Caecilia, Sancta Ygia. The second, on the other hand, deals with Cagliari in the modern age, focusing on the political-institutional, economic, social and settlement aspects of the port district, which was more linked to the lagoon and the sea, as with other cities of the Hispanic Monarchy.

    Description: Presented are seven folktales from Resia in northern Italy with a strong Slovene minority. On CD are presented narratives which have been recorded on magnetic tape by Academician Milko Matičetov. Translations from the Resian dialect in Slovene and in Italian language are published in accompanying book. One folk tale was recently recorded by Roberto Dapit in the Resian village of Lischiazze/Liščaci, and has been included in the collection to illustrate contemporary Resian narrative tradition. The tales recorded on the compact disk represent four different language groups of the Resian dialect, namely that of Stolvizza/Solbica, Oseacco/Osojane, San Giorgio/Bila, and Gniva/Njiva. This work was done within the project Zborzbirk.
    Description: Predstavljenih je sedem rezijanskih pravljic: na zgoščenki v govorjeni besedi po magnetofonskih posnetkih akademika Milka Matičetovega, v knjigi pa v slovenskem in italijanskem prevodu. Eno izmed pravljic je nedavno posnel Roberto Dapit v Liščacih v Reziji (Italija), in je vključena v ta izbor zato, da bi pokazali, kako ljudsko pripovedništvo v Reziji še naprej živi. Pravljice, ki jih lahko poslušamo na tej zgoščenki, so bile zbrane iz arhivskih posnetkov in pripovedovane v vseh glavnih rezijanskih jezikovnih področjih oz. predstavljajo štiri različne govorne skupine rezijanskega narečja območij Solbice, Osojan, Bile in Njive. Delo je nastalo v okviru bilateralnega projekta ZBORZBIRK Kulturna dediščina v zbirkah med Alpami in Krasom.

    Description: According to a well-established Italian university tradition, the verification of learning of a subject belonging to the cultural area of the 'STEM disciplines' involves passing a written test and an oral test. While the latter is intended as verification of the acquisition of both the conceptual foundations and the theoretical formalism of the discipline, the written test is intended to verify problem solving skills according to the "knowing means knowing how to do" paradigm, of whose formative validity the authors of this manual are convinced supporters. Usually there are many very good textbooks that cover the theoretical part, while there are chronically few textbooks that propose problems at the right level of complexity, also offering detailed and commented solutions. This is particularly true for those disciplines corresponding to the last year of the three-year cycle of a Bachelor's degree. In order to at least partially fill this gap, a textbook is proposed here that brings together a rich and varied series of problems (with solutions and comments) in the physics of atoms, molecules and crystalline solids. These topics, which constitute an indispensable body of knowledge in modern physics, represent the core of the discipline 'Structure of Matter', as defined by the Italian university taxonomy.

    Description: Secondo una consolidata tradizione universitaria italiana, la verifica dell’apprendimento di una materia appartenente all’area culturale delle “discipline STEM” prevede il superamento di una prova scritta e di una prova orale. Mentre quest’ultima è intesa come verifica di acquisizione tanto dei fondamenti concettuali quanto del formalismo teorico della disciplina, la prova scritta intende verificare le capacità di problem solving secondo il paradigma “sapere significa saper fare”, della cui validità formativa gli Autori di questo manuale sono convinti sostenitori. Usualmente esistono molti validissimi manuali che coprono la parte teorica, mentre è cronicamente scarso il numero di manuali che propongano problemi al giusto livello di complessità, offrendone anche la dettagliata e commentata soluzione. Questo è particolarmente vero per quelle discipline che corrispondono all’ultimo anno del ciclo triennale di una laurea di primo livello. Al fine di colmare almeno parzialmente questa lacuna, qui viene proposto un manuale che raccoglie una ricca e variegata serie di problemi (con soluzioni e commenti) di fisica degli atomi, delle molecole e dei solidi cristallini. Questi argomenti, che costituiscono un irrinunciabile corpus di conoscenze in fisica moderna, rappresentano il cuore della disciplina “Struttura della Materia”, come definita dalla tassonomia universitaria italiana.

    Description: How do contemporary Tasmanian Aboriginals think of the body? How do they think of the dead body and of their human remains? This work examines the intersection of different cultural, biological and legal concepts of authenticity and belonging as these concepts come into focus as the stake of disputes over Aboriginal remains. In claiming remains, Tasmanians engage a complex set of discursive practices in which the aboriginal body is denoted, performed and negotiated in various ways as the sign of ancestral rights. Petrović-Šteger attends particularly to the language in which Tasmanian human remains are accounted for, appropriated and resignified in the context of the British policy on repatriation. Her work examines naturalist interpretations of both Tasmanian Aboriginal and Western ideas of biology, ancestry and kinship. Attending to a number of recalcitrant concepts—including those of the authority of science, purity of indigenous peoples and exclusive rights of descendants—Petrović-Šteger considers questions arising from contemporary data collection processes as they image and measure remains, and subject them to DNA and isotopic analysis. The collection also broaches the question of how contemporary understandings of Tasmanian indigeneity and ancestral rights are constituted and promoted through the use of various scientific, museological and representational technologies.

    Description: Over the past three decades, there has been a growing interest in the link between severe visual disorders (low vision and blindness) and the presence of autism spectrum disorders. Starting from an approach that focuses on the centrality of the person and adopts a biopsychosocial perspective, the text aims to investigate this comorbidity, proposing research questions, theoretical reflections, and intervention insights.     Description: The monograph presents the entire course of archaeological and dendrochronological investigations of two pile dwelling cycles at the Hočevarica site in the Ljubjansko barje, which occurred approximately in the 37th and the first half of the 36th century BC.In addition to artefacts from Hočevarica (A. Velušček), the results from paleobotanical investigations (M. Jeraj), a classification of the material from a necklace ring (D. Skaberne and A. Mladenovič), analyses of metallurgic instruments (Ž. Šmit) as well as organic remains of mammals (B. Toškan and J. Dirjec), fish (M. Govedič, J. Pavšič and J. Dirjec) and birds (F. Janžekovič and V. Malez) are also presented.

    Description: The work is a critical edition of the preserved fragments of five notary codices from Piran (1289–1305) with notes made by the notary Dominicus Petenarius. Notaries entered into notary codices the essential features of business transactions in stenographic form, specific writing and simple Latin. This is a valuable type of sources for the study of medieval and later history. The entries portray the economic and social life of cities and their surroundings, their administration, judicial system, everyday life, population development, urban image, as well as culture and arts, all of which serve the purposes of research conducted by experts in various fields. The edition is equipped with a standard critical apparatus and an accompanying study which is also translated into English. The main part of the text encompasses the transliteration of the manuscript comprising 518 agreements with different contents. Each is marked with a successive number, defined with regard to its content and dated. The specific features of the original and inconsistencies in writing are described in notes. The work comes with an index of names, a subject index and a list of entries in which each entry is marked with the original annotation of the page in the original, date, type of contents, short summary of the contents and the page in the publication.
    Description: Piranska izpostava Pokrajinskega arhiva Koper hrani med svojim srednjeveškim gradivom 17 notarskih sešitkov in njih fragmentov. Fragmenti petih notarskih sešitkov, ki so predmet znanstvenokritične objave, vsebujejo kratke povzetke poslovnih dogovorov Pirančanov v poldrugem desetletju pred sedmimi stoletji. Zapisi so objektivni in zanesljivi, razkrivajo pa nekdanjo poslovno prakso od trgovskih družb, prek trgovanja na kredit, posojanja denarja, udinjanja pri delodajalcu, prodaje ali oddaje nepremičnin v zakup ipd.

On various karren their record is especially rich, revealing to us the many factors that in diverse conditions formed the karst surface on various carbonate and other rock.We have tried to present the most characteristic rock features and through them the most important factors and processes in the formation of the karst surface, the methods of studying them, and the most outstanding examples.Forty-nine contributing authors offer a wide spectrum of content and examples of rock forms from many karst regions around the world.The first part of the book offers an orderly-organized survey and description of the most characteristic rock forms and presents the physical and chemical corrosion of rock, biocorrosion, the modeling of rock forms, their detailed morphometrics, and numerous descriptions of individual rock forms. The second part is devoted to various examples of rock forms found around the world from Slovenia through North and South America to Australia and Asia.
    Description: Skalne oblike so pomembna sled oblikovanja in razvoja površinskih kraških pojavov. Še zlasti bogat je njihov zapis na različnih škrapljah. Razkriva nam številne dejavnike, ki v raznovrstnih razmerah oblikujejo kraško površje na različnih karbonatnih in drugih kamninah. Skušali smo zajeti najbolj značilne skalne oblike in skozi njih najbolj pomembne dejavnike in procese oblikovanja kraškega površja ter načine njihovega raziskovanja in najbolj izrazite primere. Širok spekter vsebine razkriva tudi nabor 49 avtorjev in primeri skalnih oblik s številnih kraških področji sveta. Prvi del knjige smiselno podaja pregled najbolj značilnih skalnih oblik in njihov opis, predstavlja fizikalno-kemično raztapljanje kamnine, biokorozijo, modeliranje skalnih oblik, njihovo podrobno morfometrijo ter številne opise posameznih skalnih oblik. Drugi del knjige je posvečen različnim primerom skalnih oblik širom sveta od Slovenije, prek severne in južne Amerike do Avstralije in Azije.

    Description: Il volume ricostruisce, avvalendosi di un ampio scavo archivistico, uno degli aspetti meno noti dell’esilio risorgimentale: il sequestro dei patrimoni di coloro che furono costretti ad abbandonare il suolo patrio. Nel 1853, quando il feldmaresciallo Radetzky, governatore generale del Regno Lombardo-Veneto, impartì l’ordine di sequestrare i beni degli esuli politici, la macchina amministrativa asburgica si mise lentamente in moto, impossessandosi temporaneamente delle loro fortune. Privati delle consuete rendite, gli uomini e le donne trasferitisi oltreconfine furono profondamente toccati dai provvedimenti di sequestro, che fornirono nuovi argomenti alla leggenda nera del malgoverno austriaco sulle province italiane dell’impero. Queste pagine ripercorrono quelle vicende da una prospettiva economica, sociale e giuridica, indagandole nell’agire dell’amministrazione austriaca, nelle traversie degli emigrati colpiti dai provvedimenti e nelle difficoltà delle loro famiglie rimaste in patria. Ne emerge un quadro vivido, nel quale il legame tra politica e proprietà si esplicita in un intreccio tra controllo pubblico, prassi burocratica e strategie famigliari.

    Description: In recent decades, university degree programs have undergone a partial shift in their meaning and orientation, seeing an increase in the prominence of the professionalizing aspects of the training imparted. This partial shift in the direction of training has also entailed greater interaction with the world of work, with a view to an education in which the centrality of male and female students and the building of germinal foundations for their future were fundamental criteria. In this regard, the experience of curricular internships of first professional training was initiated and gradually increased in some degree programs. This occurred significantly in the three-year and specialized, later and still called master's degrees, of the educational and pedagogical field. The present volume aims to witness and analyze the specificity of these internships, as they developed in the courses of the relevant degrees at the University of Cagliari, in the period before the pandemic and during it. To do so, the theoretical-practical frame of reference is first outlined, and then the various actors involved, faculty, students and graduates, and representatives of the internship host institutions, are given the floor to narrate their experiences and to read and evaluate their main strengths and weaknesses.

    Description: Negli ultimi decenni, i corsi di laurea universitari hanno conosciuto una parziale modifica del loro senso e orientamento, vedendo crescere il rilievo degli aspetti professionalizzanti della formazione impartita. Questo spostamento parziale della direzione formativa ha comportato anche una maggiore interazione con il mondo del lavoro, nell’ottica di una formazione in cui la centralità di studenti e studentesse e della costruzione di basi germinali per il loro futuro risultassero criteri fondamentali. A tale riguardo, in alcuni corsi di laurea è stata avviata e progressivamente incrementata l’esperienza di tirocini curricolari di prima formazione professionale. Ciò è avvenuto in maniera significativa nelle triennali e specialistiche, in seguito e tuttora denominate magistrali, dell’ambito educativo e pedagogico. Con i commi 594-601 della legge 205 del 2017, tali corsi sono stati anche formalmente riconosciuti come deputati alla formazione rispettivamente degli educatori sociopedagogici e dei pedagogisti. Il presente volume intende testimoniare e analizzare la specificità di questi tirocini, per come si sono sviluppati nei percorsi delle relative lauree dell’Università di Cagliari, nel periodo precedente la pandemia e durante la stessa. Per fare ciò, viene delineato dapprima il quadro teorico-pratico di riferimento, e successivamente viene data la parola ai diversi attori coinvolti, docenti, studenti e laureati, rappresentanti degli enti ospitanti i tirocini, affinché narrino le esperienze e ne leggano e valutino i principali punti di forza e debolezza.

    Description: Modern science started studying the Smlednik Castle over a century and a half ago. However, what might be even more important is the fact that more or less intense conservation works have been carried out at this location for over half a century. Regardless of this there is almost no expert literature on the castle to be found: short papers can be counted on the fingers of one hand, while monograph publications are sought in vain. The situation regarding contributions that promotes cultural heritage is somewhat better. The purpose of the book in front of you is thus clear: to present the history of the research and conservation efforts as well as the findings gained from the latest research in one book.This is the English translation of the original publication in Slovenian Grad Smlednik. Raziskave 2011-2012 published in 2013 as the second issue of the series Monografije CPA. The translation differs from the original in two ways. First, it omits the appendices. Secondly, a chapter on 3D scanning of the Smlednik Castle in 2007 including interactive 3D model is added.

    Description: Tra la fine del XVI e l’inizio del XVII secolo il «fontanaro e ingegniero de acqua» Giovanni Antonio Nigrone compose un manoscritto in cui raccolse la sua esperienza professionale maturata lavorando tra Napoli, Firenze e Roma. L’opera, composita e variegata, contiene un ricco catalogo di disegni di fontane e un’ampia rassegna di strumenti meccanici per lo sfruttamento dell’acqua, accanto ad argomentazioni teoriche sui più importanti temi della cultura del tempo, dalla fisica naturale all’astrologia, passando per la storia. Conservato per secoli nel convento napoletano di S. Efrem Nuovo e divenuto poi patrimonio del Regno d’Italia alla metà del XIX secolo, il testo di Nigrone viene pubblicato qui per la prima volta, insieme ad un apparato critico di note e schede e a un saggio introduttivo che aiutano a contestualizzarlo nel tempo in cui fu concepito.

    Description: Amandus Ivanschiz (in Slovenian literature “Ivančič”) belongs to a group of today little known 18th-century composers. He was, however, in his own time all over Central Europe well known and largely copied monastic composer. Around 200 compositions survived to this date in various copies now preserved in Slovenian, Croatian, Austrian, Czech, etc. archives. However, only a few of his compositions are available to modern performers. In volume 3 of the Monumenta artis musicae Sloveniae series are published three “Simphoniae” for two violins and bass, i.e. triosonatas, typical for Viennese musical circles of the 1750s and 1760s. The music is accompanied by an introductory presentation of the composer’s works and Revision Report by Danilo Pokorn (1984).The digitized version of the edition (2020) includes a New Introduction as well as Corrigenda by Maciej Jochymczyk bringing to the reader’s attention new information on father Amandus and corrigenda of the earlier edition.
    Description: Amandus Ivanschiz (Ivančič) sodi med danes manj znane skladatelje 18. stoletja, čeprav je bil v svojem času razmeroma močno prisoten v srednjeevropskem glasbenem prostoru. O tem priča ok. 200 njegovih skladb, ki so se v prepisih ohranile širom srednje Evrope: v slovenskih, hrvaških, avstrijskih in čeških arhivih. Izvajalcem in raziskovalcem glasbene kulture je še vedno dostopen le majhen del njegovega opusa. Tretji zvezek zbirke MAMS v sodobni notni izdaji prinaša tri Ivančičeve simfonije za dve violini in bas oz. triosimfonije, kakršne so bile značilne za dunajske skladateljske kroge 50-ih in 60-ih letih 18. stoletja. Zvezek je opremljen z uvodno študijo o življenju in delih patra Amandusa in revizijskim poročilom Danila Pokorna (1984).Digitalizirana po-izdaja iz leta 2020 prinaša dodatni Novi uvod in Corrigenda Macieja Jochymczyka s posodobljenimi podatki o skladatelju in popravki zgodnejšega vedenja.

    Description: Zbornik je nastal ob 30. mednarodnem geografskem kongresu, ki je od 15. do 20. avgusta 2004 potekal v Glasgowu na Škotskem. Avtorji so v 26 prispevkih podali razmeroma celovit geografski pregled Slovenije. Po splošnem uvodnem opisu in umestitvi Slovenije v Evropo so prikazane njene naravnogeografske značilnosti, podnebje, vegetacija, prebivalstvo. poselitev in naselja, raba tal, industrija in turizem. Predstavljene so tudi možnosti nadaljnjega razvoja. S tem so mednarodni geografski srenji predstavljene geografske discipline, s katerimi se slovenski geografi najbolj intenzivno ukvarjamo. Knjigo bogatijo številni kakovostni tematski zemljevidi, povedne fotografije in preglednice. Na zadnji platnici je še pregledni zemljevid Republike Slovenije.

    Description: All’Ufficio Assistenza Sociale, di cui si presenta l’inventario, fu attribuito il compito di sovraintendere alle attività riguardanti la lotta antitubercolare, la propaganda igienica e le varie forme di assistenza all’infanzia, il contrasto all’accattonaggio e al proliferare delle baracche. Sua competenza era inoltre quella di programmare le provvidenze per le famiglie sfrattate da ricollocare nei ricoveri, nelle nuove borgate o nelle case convenzionate, a seconda del loro livello economico. La concessione di sussidi agli indigenti e di premi per le famiglie numerose conclude infine la molteplicità delle attribuzioni dell’Ufficio Assistenza Sociale. Tra tutti questi settori di intervento quello su cui si è concentrata l’analisi delle fonti, con il saggio di Simona Lunadei che accompagna l’inventario, è quello che riguarda l’assistenza ai minori attraverso le istituzioni di cui il regime si è avvalso, potenziandole e trasformandole rispetto al regime liberale.

    Description: La Società Teatrale Internazionale (STIn) rappresenta un caso di studio eccezionale nel panorama italiano. Fondata nel 1908 da un gruppo di speculatori convinti di risolvere la crisi del teatro attraverso i mezzi propri della grande industria, la STIn è nazionalizzata nel 1926 dal Governatorato fascista di Roma e liquidata nel 1931. Nei suoi 23 anni di vita la STIn gestisce i maggiori teatri italiani, dal Costanzi di Roma al Regio di Torino, stringe accordi con numerose sale internazionali e coinvolge i principali artisti, impresari e compositori della sua epoca, da Mascagni, che della società sarà azionista e direttore, all’editore Sonzogno. La complessa ed entusiasmante parabola della STIn può essere ricostruita attingendo ai numerosi fascicoli dell’archivio societario che, conservato presso l’Archivio Storico Capitolino di Roma, rappresenta uno dei pochi archivi di società teatrale giunto a noi integralmente per ampi tratti della sua storia. Dell’Archivio STIn, recentemente riordinato, questo volume pubblica l’inventario.

    Description: Gli otto contributi qui raccolti offrono una piccola ma efficace campionatura dell’incidenza e dei riflessi che situazioni di bilinguismo (e di biculturalismo) possono avere sulla confezione e sulla diffusione di scritti agiografici di diversa natura, testi “aperti” per eccellenza, sottoposti spesso a più o meno invasivi processi di riscrittura, anche in relazione al medium linguistico utilizzato. I saggi hanno come oggetto testi e culti appartenenti a epoche e a contesti geografici nei quali fu attiva una situazione di bilinguismo, sia esso quello greco-latino dell’Africa proconsolare del III-IV sec., o della Sicilia tardoantica o ancora della Sardegna tra VI e XI sec., sia quello latino-lingue volgari della Toscana medievale o del Portogallo del sec. Archaeological, geological, historical, settlement and social aspects, funded under Regional Law Aug. 7, 2007, No. 7: "Promotion of scientific research and technological innovation in Sardinia. basic research projects," presented by CNRISEM (PI Marcello Verga, succeeded by Maria Grazia Mele), together with the University of Cagliari (coordin. of Research Unit No. 1 Rossana Martorelli). The Project examined the current territory of Cagliari from a "between sea and lagoon" reading perspective, tracing the historical events and the geological and archaeological phenomena of the various settlements, from the Judicial citadel of Sancta Caecilia, Ilia, Ygia, on the shores of the Santa Gilla Lagoon, to the Castel di Castro/Caller with its Appendices of medieval and modern times. Following the same time frame, the Proceedings of the Conference sees the light of day in two parts, the first of which focuses on the historical-urban affairs of the buried and almost forgotten Sancta Caecilia, Sancta Ygia. The second, on the other hand, deals with Cagliari in the modern age, focusing on the political-institutional, economic, social and settlement aspects of the port district, which was more linked to the lagoon and the sea, as with other cities of the Hispanic Monarchy.

    Epikarst – A Promising habitat (2022)

    Description: The book represents a detailed study of the fauna of drips and drip pools in six caves in Slovenia. Drips and drip pools are important because they are just about the only way of assessing the epikarst community. Using a special sampling device, it was possible to sample individual drips for extended periods of time. A total of 37 species of copepods were found in drips and drip pools. Significant differences in the fauna between drips and pools, presumably because of differential survival and reproduction in pools were found. Somewhat surprisingly it was found that the kind of pool, e.g., mud-bottomed compared to calcite bottomed, made little difference.

    Description: The hill of Panorama in Ptuj is one of the most important areas of Roman Poetovio. Chance finds and small-scale excavations in the past centuries have revealed the existence of significant archaeological remains that included buildings with numerous rooms and objects dedicated to a variety of deities, the remains of a sanctuary dedicated to the Nutrices, an Early Christian church, an aqueduct and a cemetery. The geophysical investigations have revealed the urban design with a rectilinear grid of streets and building plots.The first few chapters of the book present the history of archaeological research on Panorama, the analytical approaches and the geophysical investigations with the methods employed and the final results. The main chapters correlate the archaeological data of differing quality and nature (chance finds, rescue excavations, old and modern archaeological investigations, geophysical surveys) and locate them with a series of plans. The comprehensive overview is supported by a Catalogue of stone monuments that presents the basic data, descriptions, bibliography, commentary and photographs of the stone objects recovered on Panorama.
    Description: Na griču Panorama na Ptuju, kjer leži eden pomembnejših predelov antičnega mesta Poetovio, so geofizikalne raziskave razkrile urbanistično zasnovo s potekom ulic in pravokotnimi stavbnimi parcelami. V knjigi je združeno dozdajšnje vedenje o Panorami, hkrati gre za nadaljevanje sistematične predstavitve arheoloških najdišč Ptuja. Uvodna poglavja prinašajo zgodovino arheoloških raziskav, izhodišča analize in potek geofizikalnih raziskav z uporabljenimi metodami ter glavnimi rezultati. V osrednjih poglavjih smo povezali arheološke podatke različne kakovosti (naključne najdbe, zaščitna izkopavanja, stara in moderna arheološka raziskovanja, geofizikalne preglede) in jih umestili v prostor s pomočjo številnih načrtov. Celovito sliko dopolnjuje dodatek – Katalog kamnitih spomenikov z osnovnimi podatki, opisi, literaturo, komentarjem in fotografijami.

    Jama Velika Pasica = The Cave Velika Pasica (2022)

    Description: This bilingual scientific monograph with many illustrations presents the Velika Pasica cave, located on the outskirts of the Gornji Ig village on the Krim massif, around 20 km south of Ljubljana, Slovenia. The book presents ecological, taxonomical and biodiversity studies, as well as morphological and historical facts referring to the cave. The cave is small for Slovenian standards, as it is only 105 metres long. On the basis of the specimens collected in the cave, 13 new species from terrestrial and aquatic habitats have been described so far. A considerable number, even on the global scale. The cave was first renowned for the rare cave-dwelling beetles, snails as well as other species. In 2000, a rich community of aquatic animals was discovered, which were not expected to be present there. Since 2006, there have been regular measurements of ecological parameters as well as sampling of fauna from four permanent drips. Fauna was washed-out from a thin layer of dolomite, from which the cave roof consists. The measurements include water and air temperature as well as discharge, measured in one hour intervals. Furthermore, 88 analyses of drip water and an equal number of fauna sampling were conducted. The measurements in the cave were being conducted simultaneously with the measurements of the meteorological parameters on the surface, in the immediate vicinity of the cave entrance.
    Description: Dvojezična, bogato ilustrirana znanstvena monografija je prikaz jame Velika Pasica na Gornjem Igu, na pobočju Krima. V knjigi so poleg nekaterih morfoloških in zgodovinsko zanimivih podrobnosti predstavljene zlasti ekološke, taksonomske in biodiverzitetne študije. Jama je za slovenske razmere majhna, saj je dolga le 105 m. Na podlagi primerkov iz te jame je bilo doslej opisanih kar 13 novih vrst kopenskih in vodnih podzemnih živali, kar je izjemno tudi v svetovnem merilu. Jama je bila najprej poznana kot nahajališče redkih vrst jamskih hroščev in polžev, kasneje pa tudi drugih vrst. Leta 2000 je bila v jami odkrita bogata združba vodnih živali, ki jih tam ne bi pričakovali. Od leta 2006 v jami potekajo redne meritve ekoloških razmer in odvzem bioloških vzorcev iz štirih curkov vode, ki prenikajo iz tanke plasti v jamskem stropu. Meritve obsegajo temperaturo vode in zraka in pretok, in sicer v enournih intervalih, narejenih pa je bilo tudi 88 analiz prenikle vode in bilo odvzeto prav toliko vzorcev vodnih živali. Meritve v jami so potekale vzporedno z meritvami meteoroloških razmer na površju, v neposredni bližini jamskega vhoda.
