    Description: Zum niederländischen Militär in der frühen Neuzeit gehörte es, dass Soldaten regelmäßig gemustert wurden. Die Schlagkräftigkeit des Militärs sollte aufrechterhalten werden. Dazu reisten Musterungskommissare in die Garnisonsorte und begutachteten die Truppen. Neben ihren Amtsgeschäften widmeten die Kommissare sich oftmals intensiv "touristischen" Vergnügungen. Die Berichte geben in niederländischer Sprache daher nicht nur Einblicke in das Musterungswesen selbst, sondern vor allem in das Reisen im 18. Jahrhundert. Dabei lassen sie in deutlicher Form das soziale Leben der Zeit nachvollziehen.

Jahrhundert war ein Jahrhundert des weltumspannenden politischen, ökonomischen und sozialen Wandels, der alte Herrschaftssysteme herausforderte und neuen politischen und gesellschaftlichen Kräften in zwei Revolutionen zum Durchbruch verhalf. Die vorliegende Untersuchung thematisiert diesen Prozess am Beispiel der transatlantischen Beziehungen zwischen den Niederlanden und den nach Selbstständigkeit strebenden Kolonien in Amerika zwischen 1776 und 1782. Den amerikanischen Kolonisten ging es um zweierlei: einerseits um die völkerrechtliche Anerkennung ihres Abfalls vom englischen Königreich und andererseits um die finanzielle Unterstützung der amerikanischen Revolutionäre durch die anderen europäischen Staaten. Hierbei spielten die Republik der Vereinigten Niederlande diplomatisch und die Amsterdamer Finanzhäuser ökonomisch eine viel zu lang unterschätzte Rolle. In einer Nahbetrachtung der diplomatischen und finanztechnischen Aktionen der beteiligten Diplomaten, Politiker und Kaufleute und ihrer jeweiligen Einschätzungen durch Roland Richter wird die Komplexität des historischen Prozesses erkennbar und ein weiterführender Beitrag zur transatlantischen Niederlandeforschung geleistet.

    Description: Learning devices can be embedded into organizational contexts. Through them learning processes can be intentionally activated as to transform employees while working. Workplaces have their own learning potential due to their high level of structuring and regulation. Their learning potential transform organizational actors while they are in the productive actions. Identifying embedded learning processes helps in intercepting learning valencies of workplace experiences and observing learning actions that can lead to transformative processes. Results of related research activities are presented in the volume. They have been carried out in more than ten years of research implemented in three types of organisations: business, museum, prison. Research experiences are analysed by using a model of study that is based on the reconstruction of the learning processes as they are experienced by the actors considered. Moreover the model is based on the analysis of learning actions that are embedded into the productive and service provision processes. Factors and conditions are analysed as well through which organisations can act on employees transformation.

    Description: Fuzzy knowledge is not (only) a problem, but a capital of educational science. Based on this thesis, the author examines the educational discourse on the basis of the journal for educational science. In contrast to pedagogical certainties and calculabilities, the logical structure of fuzzy knowledge has a grammar that goes beyond simple truth values. In the form of a (metatheoretical) typology, different theoretical approaches to the topic of imprecise knowledge are systematized and exemplified with reference to concrete pedagogical problems.
    Description: Unscharfes Wissen ist nicht (nur) ein Problemfall, sondern ein Kapital der Erziehungswissenschaft. Ausgehend von dieser These untersucht der Autor den erziehungswissenschaftlichen Diskurs anhand der Zeitschrift für Erziehungswissenschaft. Die logische Struktur unscharfen Wissens weist im Gegensatz zu pädagogischen Gewissheiten und Kalkulierbarkeiten eine Grammatik jenseits einfacher Wahrheitswerte auf.     Description: The keynote of the recent history of the faculty of educational science of Florence University is change. This has emerged in response to the demands for education expressed by a new knowledge society, spawned by the processes of globalisation, and the social need to foster interculturalism and the dialogue between diversities. In this new dimension of change, education becomes the framework for preparation, but also for re-integrating and updating life itineraries that are swift and precarious, veined with insecurity and disillusionment. Even in the new approach, the scientific and cultural benchmark continues to be a consistent adherence to the secular, historic-pedagogic and educational tradition represented by the masters of the "Florence School". Since its creation in 1996, the new faculty has staked forcefully on the centrality of training in relation to the traditional focus on the professionalism of primary and secondary school teachers, and on the new extra-scholastic training issues: the educational professions; pedagogic care; the social education of adults; the technologies of education and instruction; the philosophic, sociological, psychological and anthropological dimension of education; the broad sphere of hardship and marginalisation and the different faces of diversity.

    Description: Dem Vergleichen wird in der Geschichtswissenschaft die Funktion einer historischen Methode zugesprochen, für den Geschichtsunterricht dient es als Methode zur Förderung historischer Kompetenzen. In den Geschichtslehrwerken der Sekundarstufe II taucht es in der Regel in Form von Aufgaben auf. Doch wie relevant sind Vergleichsaufgaben in Lehrwerken überhaupt und welche Fertigkeiten und Kompetenzen benötigen Lernende in der Sekundarstufe II zur (schriftlichen) Lösung einer historischen Vergleichsaufgabe? Diesen Fragen wird mit Hilfe einer zweiteiligen Untersuchung auf der Grundlage einer umfangreichen Frequenzanalyse von Aufgaben in Geschichtslehrwerken der Sekundarstufe II in NRW sowie einer Korpusanalyse von Lernendentexten zu einer authentischen Vergleichsaufgabe aus einem Geschichtslehrwerk nachgegangen. Die Arbeit verbindet den geschichtsdidaktischen Zugang mit dem linguistischen Ansatz der Funktionalen Pragmatik, um das Vergleichen als Handlungsmuster des Geschichtsunterrichts zu bestimmen und es im Hinblick auf seinen kommunikativen Zweck in Teilhandlungen aufzuschlüsseln. Der Zugang wird ergänzt durch den Bezug zur Schreibdidaktik, der gerade im Hinblick auf wissenschaftspropädeutisches Arbeiten in der Sekundarstufe II eine wichtige Rolle spielt. Aus den Ergebnissen der Untersuchungen wird auf der Grundlage eines Indikatorenmodells ein praxisorientierter Weg zum Umgang mit Vergleichsaufgaben im Geschichtsunterricht vorgeschlagen.

Die Geschichte des sexuellen Schutzalters zeichnet Sonja Matter anhand österreichischer Strafprozesse wie auch nationaler und internationaler Gesetzesreformen und Kinderrechtsdebatten nach. Die sexuellen Rechte der Kinder standen meist nicht im Mittelpunkt, vielmehr dominierten die Interessen und Gesellschaftsvisionen der Erwachsenen. Nach der nationalsozialistischen Herrschaft galt der Kampf gegen sexuelle Gewalt an Kindern als Möglichkeit, eine »sittliche« Gesellschaft herzustellen. Im Zuge einer sexuellen Liberalisierung stand dagegen das Interesse im Zentrum, die Sexualität von Kindern zu »befreien«, um eine liberalere Gesellschaft zu verwirklichen. Erst die autonome Frauenbewegung der 1980er Jahre verknüpfte die Problematik der sexuellen Gewalt an Kindern dezidiert mit einer Herrschaftskritik. Die Auseinandersetzungen waren von der Frage begleitet, wann Kindheit endet und in welchem Verhältnis Gewalt und Begehren stehen."

    Description: Höhere Lehrerbildung und eine Mathematische Gesellschaft, beide in Dresden institutionalisiert und bewährt, sind ungewöhnlich für eine technische Bildungsstätte in den 1860er/1870er Jahren und zogen hervorragende Mathematiker und Physiker an. In dieser Tradition nahmen die fünf Ordinarien Karl Rohn, Georg Helm, Martin Krause, Walther Ludwig und Gerhard Kowalewski, die später das Rektorat der Technischen Hochschule Dresden innehatten, ihre Arbeit auf. Waltraud Voss zeigt, wie sie den gesellschaftlichen Verhältnissen entsprechend Reformen mitgestalteten, sich für Neues einsetzten und dabei in Lehre und Forschung stets auf das ausgeglichene Zusammenspiel von Theorie und Praxis bedacht und bestrebt waren, die Mathematik breiteren Kreisen der Dresdner Bevölkerung näherzubringen.

    Description: Lieselott Herforth (1916-2010) war von 1965-1968 die erste deutsche Universitätsrektorin (TU Dresden) - und als Physikerin erfolgreich in einer Männerdomäne. In Berlin, Leipzig, Merseburg und Dresden beschäftigte sie sich u.a. mit radioaktiven Isotopen und der Strahlenmessung. Ihr Grundlagenwerk »Praktikum der Angewandten Radioaktivität und Radiochemie« (gem. mit Hartwig Koch) wird noch heute bundesweit in der Lehre eingesetzt und stetig aktualisiert. Spät trat sie in die SED ein und war Mitglied mehrerer hoher Gremien der DDR. Neben der Forschung engagierte sie sich für den wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchs und die Gleichstellung. Diese erste umfassende Biographie anlässlich ihres 100. Geburtstags zeichnet den Werdegang der Pionierin nach.

    Description: In the period following the Second World War Giulio Preti was one of the leading exponents of Italian philosophy. A master of open critical thought, cultivated in the light of a rationalism that dialogued with, and integrated into his own philosophical model, many of the currents and stances of the global research scenario. Phenomenology, Marxism, pragmatism, neopositivism, transcendentalism and structuralism: in Preti all of these found an organic and original synthesis. Further, his particular brand of rationalist-critical thought touched on many aspects of philosophical knowledge: theoretical philosophy, the philosophy of science, that of language and that of art, from ethics to politics and even taking in the history of philosophy, offering authoritative contributions in every sphere. One hundred years after his birth, the University of Florence and the heir to the Faculty in which he lectured at length, the Faculty of Education, has decided to honour his memory with this anthology of studies, penned by former pupils and others and also by younger scholars, to once again focus the wealth of this thought and its, in many respects, current relevance. Even now, this particular brand of open, critical rationalism can offer a benchmark for addressing the new issues for philosophical reflection thrown up by modern society and culture.

Investing in capacity building is one of the strategic keys to face the challenges of a sustainable future, as stated in the 2030 Agenda, aiming to transform, through a long-term vision, the paradigm of dominant development. Within this framework, the volume aims to offer operational elements to address the issue of Capacity building and define the territory as a space of conflicts, governability, agreement and participation undergoing constant change. Thus, participatory territorial planning -a mere technical instrument in itself- becomes a space for awareness, appropriation and leadership of the population.     Description: As in all medieval cities, writing became increasingly important in Hamburg in the course of the later Middle Ages. In addition to the creation of various city books, there was a growing need to safely store the originals of important documents. These were collected in the so-called Threse, which soon formed a separate section of the emerging municipal archive. Although the holdings in the Hamburg State Archives are largely complete (with the exception of some losses due to the Second World War, among other things), the indexing by Johann Martin Lappenberg, which took place after the fire in Hamburg City Hall in 1842, still forms the basis for working with the material today. A comprehensive scholarly reappraisal remained a desideratum for a long time.

    Description: On the one hand, expectations of primary school teachers are high. On the other hand, a specific pedagogical professionalism of primary school teachers is doubted again and again. In fact, a compilation of requirements and competences that apply specifically to primary school teachers does not yet exist. While in the discourse on professional theory, challenges for and demands on the professionalism of secondary school teachers seem to be discussed and empirically developed, in the discourse on primary school pedagogy, methodological-didactic questions as well as structural framework conditions come into view, without grasping the consequences for the actions of primary school teachers and framing them in terms of professional theory. The aim of this volume is therefore to link the two discourses more closely and to look at the professionalisation of primary school teachers from different perspectives.
    Description: Einerseits sind die Erwartungen an Grundschullehrkräfte hoch. Andererseits wird immer wieder eine spezifische pädagogische Professionalität von Grundschullehrkräften bezweifelt. Tatsächlich existiert eine Zusammenstellung von Anforderungen und Kompetenzen, die speziell für Grundschullehrkräfte gelten, bislang nicht. Während im professionstheoretischen Diskurs vorrangig Herausforderungen für und Anforderungen an die Professionalität von Lehrkräften der Sekundarstufe diskutiert und empirisch erschlossen zu werden scheinen, geraten im grundschulpädagogischen Diskurs methodisch- didaktische Fragen sowie strukturelle Rahmenbedingungen in den Blick, ohne dabei die Konsequenzen für das Handeln von Grundschullehrkräften zu fassen und professionstheoretisch zu rahmen. Ziel dieses Bandes ist es daher, die beiden Diskurse stärker miteinander zu verbinden und die Professionalisierung von Grundschullehrkräften aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven in den Blick zu nehmen.

    Description: Dem niederländischen Regierungssitz Den Haag kam durch die weit ausgreifende Politik der Republik zwischen den westfälischen Friedensschlüssen und den ersten beiden Jahrzehnten des 18. Jahrhunderts eine Schlüsselstellung im europäischen Gesandtschaftswesen zu. In den Kriegen, die auf die Epochenwende 1648 und 1659/60 folgten, wurde nicht mehr wie in den vorhergehenden Religionskriegen um die Existenz gerungen, sondern um die Aufrechterhaltung oder Wiederherstellung einer gedachten Machtbalance. Daraus erwuchs den Gesandten eine neue Aufgabenfülle und politische Rolle. Das blieb nicht ohne Wirkung auf die Gesandten, die Veränderungen nicht nur ertrugen, sondern zunehmend selbst gestaltend eingriffen. Diese dynamischen Prozesse in der Arbeitsweise von Gesandten dreier Höfe am niederländischen Regierungssitz Den Haag stehen im Mittelpunkt der vorliegenden Arbeit. Indem aufgearbeitet wird, wie Den Haag von einem Treffpunkt von Gesandten zum Brennpunkt europäischer Diplomatie wurde, möchte die vorliegende Studie einen Beitrag zur Geschichte des Gesandtschaftswesens im frühneuzeitlichen Europa leisten.

    Description: Die Entscheidung darüber, ob ein Kind die Volksschule besuchen kann oder in einer besonderen Schule unterrichtet werden muss, ist ein umstrittener Vorgang. Ab Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts wurde der Umgang mit »schwachsinnigen« Kindern anhand eines sogenannten Aufschreibesystems - Beobachtungsbögen, ärztliche Untersuchungen, IQ-Tests, Gutachten - dokumentiert und organisiert. Bis heute nimmt diese Praxis eine Schlüsselfunktion bei der Entscheidung über den schulischen Verbleib der Kinder ein. Jona Tomke Garz untersucht in seiner interdisziplinär angelegten historischen Studie das sonderpädagogische Aufschreibesystem am Beispiel Berlin mit Fokus auf die damit verbundenen Wissenspraktiken. Dabei zeigt er auf, welche Bedeutung das Beobachten, Schreiben und Verarbeiten für die Formation des Wissens über »Schwachsinn« hat - gerade im Hinblick auf die Institutionalisierung und Professionalisierung der »Schwachsinnigenpädagogik«.

Wissenschaftler erforschten die Strukturen der ehemaligen Landesverwaltung und deren Leiter. Zusammenhängende Angaben dazu lagen jedoch bisher nicht vor. Neben Landräten, Oberbürgermeistern und ihren Stellvertretern stellt Torsten Hartisch auch das leitende Personal der Oberlandratsämter, der Hauptabteilungen, Abteilungen und Referate der Provinzialverwaltung bzw. der Landesregierung in rund 490 Kurzbiografien vor. Ergänzt wird der Band mit einer Aufstellung der Mitglieder der Kreisräte, der Stadträte der kreisfreien Städte, der Vorstände der Kreistage und der Stadtverordnetenversammlung (rund 2000 Personen im Personenindex). Eine Aufstellung der wichtigsten Verwaltungsstrukturen auf Landesebene hilft bei einem schnellen Einstieg und Überblick.

Angelika Strobel analysiert die Auswirkungen dieser gesundheitspräventiven Maßnahmen auf die Verwaltungsapparate und die Bevölkerung. Am Beispiel der ländlichen Selbstverwaltung und der Eisenbahnbetriebe verdeutlicht sie die Praxis von Public Health in der Verwaltung des russischen Imperiums und leistet damit einen Beitrag zur Geschichte von Verwaltungspraxis und Staatlichkeit in der europäischen Moderne.

Im Fokus dieser kulturwissenschaftlichen Arbeit stehen die KünstlerInnen, ihre Arbeitsweisen und die in den Gruppen entstandenen Werke. Durch eine Kombination aus Interviews, historischen Bild- und Textquellen sowie den materiellen Objekten wird ein umfassendes Gesamtbild der Textilzirkel gezeichnet. Dabei wird der kulturpolitische Hintergrund beleuchtet und die strukturellen sowie künstlerischen Entwicklungen im Laufe der Jahrzehnte reflektiert. Sie widerspiegeln zugleich den kulturellen und gesellschaftlichen Wandel innerhalb der DDR. In einem Ausblick wird der Verbleib der textilkünstlerischen Gruppierungen nach der Wiedervereinigung betrachtet.

    Description: Aus dem Beginenkonvent bei St. Jacobi in Hamburg sind 14 mittelniederdeutsche Handschriften überliefert, die einen einzigartigen Einblick in das religiöse Leben spätmittelalterlicher Frauen ermöglichen. Die Gebetbücher, zusammen mit Archivalien aus dem Konvent wie den Rechnungsbüchern der Meisterinnen oder Testamenten, weisen auf eine aktive Rolle des Konvents im spätmittelalterlichen Hamburg hin. Von ihrem religiösen Profil her fallen in den Hamburger Gebetbüchern insbesondere ordensübergreifende Einflüsse der Devotio moderna auf. Dies zeigt, dass diese Literatur unbedingt in einem geographisch und religiös weiteren Kontext zu lesen ist. Allein schon liturgische und materielle Ähnlichkeiten zu Traditionen norddeutscher Bistümer und Klöster, z.B.     Description: The enforcement of the sentence in a (re)educational perspective is a highly debated topic in different approaches, including the multidisciplinary ones. In this volume, the topic is discussed from a compensatory perspective, namely through the acknowledgement of the need to prepare educational tools to contrast the 'adverse educational actions', to which the prison population may be exposed, and to the phenomenon of repeated infractions. In addition to the elements of the treatment program (which is structured, intentional, legally regulated and procedure-like), every phase of the sentence enforcement, even those taken for granted, includes an educational value and presents itself as a growth and improvement opportunity for each prisoner. As evidence to the variety of experiences (in the educational sense), this volume collects a series of contributions by professionals from the criminal justice system who support the changing processes of prisoners.

The essay also adds some critical considerations suggested by more recent studies published at an international level close to the translations and corresponds to the conclusion of the second Meridiano of Mondadori devoted to the writer’s works. It takes on a sum of knowledge that transformed it, gradually assuming a somewhat exorbitant dimension. A work represents for Magris the sea into which all the rivers of writing have flowed, just as for Pirandello with his Uno, nessuno e centomila.

Doch Moore, Sümpfe und Bruchgebiete wurden schon seit der frühen Neuzeit zu Schauplätzen von Meliorationsprojekten. Sie bezweckten die Erweiterung agrarischer Nutzflächen und trugen zur Intensivierung des Ackerbaus wie auch zur Entwicklung von Handel und Verkehr bei. Meliorationen gingen häufig mit Migrationen und neuen Siedlungsgründungen einher. Im Band wird deshalb neben agrarischer Expansion und Mobilität auch der Begriff "Kolonie" mit seinen unterschiedlichen Bedeutungsdimensionen wie Kolonialisierung, Kolonisierung und Kolonisation untersucht. Die Meliorationsbeispiele aus Mittel- und Ostmitteleuropa belegen die vielfache Verschränkung ökonomischer, demographischer, ökologischer und kultureller Fragen und zeigen neben dem zeittypischen Fortschrittsglauben – gerade auch aus heutiger Perspektive – lehrreiche Schattenseiten des Eingriffs des Menschen in die Natur.

With this volume, the first biography of Georg Hermann Stoltz (1845-1939) is available. It provides valuable insights into the life of a man who, as a successful merchant and company founder in Brazil and Hamburg, has rendered outstanding services to relations between South America and Europe. The biography was written by Hans Joachim Schröder; it is the 21st volume in the series "Mäzene für Wissenschaft" published by the Hamburg Scientific Foundation. in many respects, Georg Hermann Stoltz is a typical representative of the group of Hamburg patrons who established the Hamburgische Wissenschaftliche Stiftung with their donations in 1907, thus enabling the foundation of the Hamburg University twelve years later: Like most others, he worked as an overseas merchant. Like some of the other members of the group, he built up extensive trade between South America, especially between Brazil and Hamburg. In the course of his long life he thus became a pioneer of German-Brazilian relations. His wealth allowed him to establish a generous residence in Wentorf near Hamburg and a foundation in Lüneburg, where he attended school at the Johanneum. In all this he became the ancestor of a large family that is still alive today.

    Description: The birth and development of disciplines, as organized knowledge that guides the interpretation of reality, are inscribed in the heritage of the knowledge of our species. These follow the triple regulating principles of the historical flux of the meanings of feeling and thinking: cognitive potential, mental processing, intangible and tangible products. The flow from the indistinct feeling of the origins evolves through the archaic forms of the magic thought; to the ancient forms of declarative thought up to the modern forms of demonstrative thought. The latter with the separation between disciplines does not recognize the interconnection inherent in reality, loses the scientific revolution character and generates the unsustainable human development on the planet. From the global interconnection experience of the contemporary world, a new paradigm comes to life: transdisciplinarity, whose epistemology recomposes the knowledge and reality’s unity and diversity beyond the barriers between disciplines.

    Description: Eleonora Ramirez de Montalvo is one of the most important historical figures of woman’s assistance and education during the seventeenth century. She is the founder of two lay congregations: the Minime Ancille of the Divine Incarnation (1647) and the Minime Ancille of the Holy Trinity (1650). This volume lists and describes in an analytical way the papers produced and preserved by the second of these, also known Montalve alla Quiete, which for over two centuries carried out an intense activity and exerted a considerable influence in Tuscany. The study of this archive provides a unique range of information both on the economic and political events, and on the relationships maintained by the Montalve with society growing its prestige and heritage. It also offers the opportunity to undertake countless historical research on facts that concern Florentine territory and the rest of Tuscany.

Die landwirtschaftlichen Güter der königlichen "Tafel" (mensa regia) lagen wie ein Archipel über das Territorium der Adelsrepublik verstreut. Sie bildeten eine herrschaftliche Kontaktzone, die sich durch sprachliche, konfessionelle und strukturelle Diversität auszeichnete und in der auch unterschiedliche Herrschaftskulturen aufeinandertrafen. Dies gilt besonders für die Jahrzehnte nach 1697, als mit August II. (dem ""Starken"") und August III. zwei sächsische Kurfürsten auf dem polnischen Thron saßen. Die königliche Eigenwirtschaft entwickelte sich nun zunehmend zu einer Keimzelle der Bürokratisierung und des frühmodernen Staates auf dem Territorium Polen-Litauens. Peter Collmer zeigt am Beispiel der polnisch-litauischen Adelsrepublik, was Vielfalt für die Konzeption und Realisierung von Herrschaft vor dem Zeitalter des Nationalismus bedeutete. Er versteht Herrschaft als kommunikativen Prozess und kontrastiert die Geschichte der Institutionen immer wieder durch Einblicke in die Lebenswelten der Akteure.

    Description: This volume shows the outcome of a series of meetings and seminars which, on several levels, contributed to the construction of the International Conference La ricerca sull’Educazione in età Adulta nelle università italiane held at the University of Florence on the 23rd and 24th November 2017. The different contributions have tried to answer the question on the origin and development of adult education in Italy within academic contexts. What does it mean to work in this research field? The interviewed directors have reflected on a number of research approaches and have reconstructed the variety of theories, models and authors which outlined the development of this discipline in Italy over the last fifty years. Among the covered topics are: increasing the educational quality of the workplace, understanding the education incorporated in the workplace, studying the aims of education in formal and informal contexts. This has led to a new and original theme, which had however not been touched by the Italian academic literature, namely the question of inequalities and relative poverty, two important phenomena for understanding the development of future societies.

    Description: Media Education (ME) has come a long way. Today, it can no longer be considered a field of study reserved for semiotic and communication researchers. Nor can it be regarded as a privileged practice of those teachers, who for some reason consider media of fundamental importance. On one hand, ME is now part of the agenda of international organizations, which consider the development of media competences a necessary requisite to fully exercise citizenship in the current contemporary society. On the other, ME practices are becoming increasingly widespread in schools involving a growing number of teachers. Notwithstanding, teaching the media still seems to be a rather solipsistic task where «everything is fine». Indeed, in ME there is a tremendous lack of research concerning the educational practices' quality and effectiveness. This book tries to cope with these issues by providing a set of instruments to design, develop and evaluate ME activities in schools, and supporting the enhancement of media educators' knowledge and skills.

    Description: Seven European Regional Governments, together with Earlall and universities and research centres, have undertaken to refine a first draft of a Joint Progress Report of Regions on Implementation of European Lifelong Learning Strategies in the perspective of the Europe 2020 Strategy. The purpose of this exercise is to demonstrate the usefulness and need to make an instrument available to European Regional Governments that helps to understand and evaluate the educational conditions of the regional population when compared with other regions. The Report shows how, over the decade, all the Regional Governments have undertaken to adapt training systems to the demographic dynamics characterised by the general ageing of the population and by migratory phenomena. Simultaneously the Report also shows the need for urgent improvements in some fields where the impact of policies is still too modest and where the risk of stagnation must be dealt with (for example, lifelong learning policies and NEET reduction).

Zu ihrem Renommee trug bei, dass sie zahlreiche prominente Autoren wie Hannah Arendt, Raymond Aron, Hans Kohn, Herbert Lüthy, George F. Kennan oder auch die Exkommunisten Arthur Koestler, George Orwell und Richard Löwenthal versammelte. Joachim Gmehling zeigt, welches Bild in der Zeitschrift vom nationalsozialistischen und sowjetkommunistischen Herrschaftssystem gezeichnet wurde und wie der Vergleich der beiden Diktaturen ausfiel. Dabei rekonstruiert er nicht nur den Einfluss der zeitgenössischen Totalitarismustheorien sowie die Imperative der US-amerikanischen Besatzungspolitik in Westdeutschland, sondern geht auch auf die CIA-Hintergründe des Periodikums ein.     Description: The fundamental principles of freedom, security, democracy, and the regulatory mechanisms of the European Union, as well as the pronouncements of the European Convention for the protection of Human Rights and fundamental freedoms (ECHR) can be subject to dangerous violations within criminal justice systems. When these violations are perpetrated by the actors called to protect the same rights and freedoms, the institutions must also prepare the educational devices which are required for their prevention. This volume intends to investigate the complexity of educational actions - primarily informal ones - which accompany the creation of the operators’ knowledge of the analysed systems, as well as the methods of their growth. The contents are discussed starting from the research hypotheses, and on the basis of the experimentation of the embedded learning in the prison of Chieti (under the supervision of the Department of Education and Psychology of the University of Florence).

The aim of the initiative was to highlight a topic/problem which has little or no resonance in civil society, or in study and research contexts, namely, training and career guidance for disabled adults. The volume also recounts a course of studies carried out by Le Rose, a cooperative from the municipality of Florence, involving empirical research on the relationship between disability and job placement. As well as proposing an interdisciplinary and multifaceted reflection on a definitely innovative topic, the intention is to emphasize the central place of work in the lives of all people and the role that suitable education and training plays in constructing the adult identity. Care for the place where the job training is carried out, as well as attention to the relationships and actions pursued by the workers undertaking to develop job placement programmes, are central dimensions for the construction of a renewed culture of inclusion, citizenship and social and personal recognition.

    Description: The volume examines the crucial and current connection between orientation, training and teaching professionalism. The various contributions make references to the new regulation on the subject, and focus on the institutional task and the pedagogical role played by orientation and training in creating a new physiognomy of the teachers’ professionalism: an initial orientation, an in itinere orientation and an outgoing orientation, alongside personal and professional training, intended as an open and ongoing process. These are two fundamental devices to grasp the complexity of being a teacher and working in schools nowadays. They are also accompanied by the traineeship, which in this context is examined through the report of a multi-year work.

Rebekka Becker betrachtet dieses Spannungsverhältnis, indem sie Analogien zwischen literarischen Inszenierungen temporärer Ausbrüche aus der institutionellen Ordnung und einer modernen Phänomenologie der Muße aufzeigt. Dieser Blick ist nicht selbstverständlich, da Muße im höfischen Roman bislang vor allem als gesellige kurzwîle konzeptionalisiert wurde. Gerade in Abgrenzung zu Formen höfischer Vergnügungskultur zeichnet die Autorin eine Topographie von Muße nach, in der sich das spezifische Zusammenspiel von Muße, Minne und Naturraum offenbart. Ihre Studie schließt die Poetologie der Texte mit ein und ist damit auch für das Untersuchungsfeld von Muße und Lektüre relevant.

    Description: The idea behind this book – devoted to the relations between adults and children – emerged within a specific educational experience launched in an experimental manner in 2006 by the faculty of educational science of Florence University and now in its fourth edition. These are teaching courses held in the evening and on Saturdays to make it easier for students with daytime jobs to attend the lessons. The quest for new forms of organisation was accompanied by a meditation on teaching, which brought out several very interesting educational themes which were effectively transversal to the various disciplines. This book presents the results of this methodological approach, aimed at fostering a conscious, reflective and personal learning. As the title suggests, the essays are designed to focus the question of the educational relationship within a multidisciplinary perspective. Us-them, to remind ourselves that adults have a fundamental and inescapable responsibility. The relationship is typically asymmetrical, with special features and decidedly variable over time. It has in fact been marked for centuries by a failure to recognise the needs of the youngsters and their own subjectivity, to the point of arriving at disturbing levels of violence and coercion. Such cases have been justly referred to a 'black pedagogy', which sadly is far from being everywhere a thing of the past, and even in Italy has left deep and persistent traces. For these reasons the study of the educational relationship has numerous relevant aspects of interest, all extremely topical, and represents a fundamental argument that adults must consciously address. Educators and teachers, parents and students, can all thus enhance their sensitivity and competence with a view to consolidating the reflective practices that are now considered absolutely indispensable for those who live in contact with children and adolescents.

    Description: Since the mid 20th century, the criticism of mass culture has been marked by the "apocalyptic" positions of many authors. Through the texts and ideas of three these "apocalyptic" authors (or, at least, of three authors defined as such: Adorno, Pasolini and Baudrillard), but also through the most current criticisms of ICT, the text suggests to re-read the apocalyptic authors. At the same time, it highlights the limits of information and communication technologies and their partial outdatedness, while also trying to draw inspiration from them in order to develop a model of media education which may keep alive the dialectical charge between the possibilities offered by technology and the pitfalls it sometimes hides. The apocalyptic authors, in fact, can support the need for a semiological, critical-sociological and pedagogical work, which considers the media as a problem, and creates and gives the subjects the analysis, interpretation and (critical) use skills of the media themselves. The aim is to create a form of literacy with respect to old and new "languages of knowledge", but above all with respect to the formation of critical and thoughtful, free and creative "well-made heads".

    Description: Nach der Zuspitzung der Krise in Jugoslawien nach 1989 versuchte die österreichische Außenpolitik, einen Beitrag dazu zu leisten, die bewaffneten und ethnischen Konflikte zwischen den Völkern in Jugoslawien, insbesondere in Bezug auf die zunehmende Verschlechterung der politischen Lage im Kosovo, zu entschärfen und die internationale Staatengemeinschaft darauf aufmerksam zu machen. In dieser Hinsicht nahm Österreich im Vergleich zu vielen anderen europäischen Staaten eine Vorreiterrolle ein und unternahm zahlreiche Initiativen zur Internationalisierung der Kosovo-Frage. Die aktive Rolle Österreichs in der Kosovo-Frage manifestierte sich in einer Frühwarnfunktion.

    Description: Seven European Regional Governments, together with Earlall and universities and research centres, have undertaken to refine a first draft of a Joint Progress Report of Regions on Implementation of European Lifelong Learning Strategies in the perspective of the Europe 2020 Strategy. The purpose of this exercise is to demonstrate the usefulness and need to make an instrument available to European Regional Governments that helps to understand and evaluate the educational conditions of the regional population when compared with other regions. The Report shows how, over the decade, all the Regional Governments have undertaken to adapt training systems to the demographic dynamics characterised by the general ageing of the population and by migratory phenomena. Simultaneously the Report also shows the need for urgent improvements in some fields where the impact of policies is still too modest and where the risk of stagnation must be dealt with (for example, lifelong learning policies and NEET reduction).

    Description: In Europe the social economy employs almost 15 million workers. During the crisis years, unlike other sectors, it has often generated an increase in jobs. The aim of this comparative study is to investigate how to allow the supply and demand for young people to meet in the different types of social economy bodies. In particular, it concentrates on the problem of how to bring into line initial university training and the skills required by these organizations. The focus is placed on the varied family of training workers present in at least 75% of the organizations, whose professionalism is nevertheless rarely acknowledged. The papers proposed in this book try to identify the most suitable solutions at the level of curriculum, career development and accompanying measures, while drawing solutions from objective findings and not from training system needs or convictions.

Doch welchen Einfluss hatte die Trennung zwischen Ost und West auf die sozial- und kulturhistorische Selbsterforschung Europas in der zeitgenössischen Geschichts- und Literaturwissenschaft? Barbara Picht macht das Ost-West-Paradigma selbst zum Untersuchungsgegenstand der Wissenschaftsgeschichte, anstatt es zu übernehmen. Sie analysiert signifikante kulturelle Selbstentwürfe im Europa des Kalten Krieges mit einem Schwerpunkt auf Geschichte und Literatur. Am Beispiel des Werkes von Fernand Braudel und Robert Minder (Frankreich), Werner Conze und Ernst Robert Curtius (BRD), Walter Markov und Werner Krauss (DDR) und Oskar Halecki und Czesław Miłosz (Polen bzw. US-amerikanisches Exil) zeigt sie, dass die »Interpreten Europas« der bipolaren Logik der Systemkonfrontation nicht gehorchten. Die »institutionelle Macht« des Kalten Krieges war sehr wohl zu spüren, doch vom beherrschenden Bild des iron curtain muss man sich lösen, geht es um die Geschichte der europäischen Geistes- und Kulturwissenschaften im Systemkonflikt.
