Beschreibung: The court and court society in the Hispanic world (16th-18th centuries): The courtly world has emerged as a propitious intellectual and historiographical space for thinking and writing the history of early modernity. Ever since the renewal of the so-called ‘political history,’ but also after the perspective of cultural studies, the courtly has become the privileged scenario for the study of the political society of the Modern Age, starting from the analysis of the formation of the different social actors’ different political identities in dispute, as well as the tracking of hidden interests in decision-making in order to understand power groups or networks. Similarly, the courtly cannot but be thought of as that singular scenario and/or space of conjunction and indistinction between the political (public) and the economic (private), as well as a locus of identity formation and dispute. In this sense, the study of the Ancien Régime societies cannot ignore the courtly, which is a key element for understanding and analyzing one of the articulating elements of the globality of the European monarchies, particularly the Hispanic monarchy. As this work describes, this global perspective allows us to understand the importance and imprint of the courtly in America. Therefore, the aim is to analyze and understand the court and the courtly world from multiple perspectives. The articles that make up this work problematize the courtly from different geographical spaces, but above all from different intellectual concerns and preoccupations: princely and courtly education, the problem of the King’s favorite, the religious, the nobiliary, the place of the feminine in the court or, also, the materiality of the courtly texts and the materiality of the government of the monarchy from the court.

Beschreibung: El mundo cortesano se ha erigido como un espacio intelectual e historiográfico propicio para pensar y escribir la historia de la primera modernidad. Desde la renovación de la denominada ‘historia política’, pero también desde los estudios culturales, lo cortesano ha devenido en el escenario privilegiado de estudio de la sociedad política de la Edad Moderna, partiendo de análisis de la conformación de las diferentes identidades políticas en disputa de los distintos actores sociales, como también del rastreo de intereses ocultos en las tomas de decisiones para comprender redes o grupos de poder. Asimismo, lo cortesano no puede dejar de pensarse como ese escenario y/o espacio singular de conjunción e indistinción entre lo político (público) y lo económico (privado), así como un locus de conformación y disputa identitaria. En este sentido, el estudio de las sociedades del Antiguo Régimen no puede obviar lo cortesano, máxima para comprender y analizar uno de los elementos articuladores de la globalidad de las monarquías europeas, singularmente de la monarquía hispánica. Esta perspectiva global nos permite comprender, como se realiza en esta obra, la importancia e impronta de lo cortesano en América. Por lo tanto, esta obra busca analizar y comprender la corte y el mundo cortesano desde múltiples perspectivas. Los artículos que conforman esta obra problematizan lo cortesano desde diversos espacios geográficos, pero sobre todo desde distintas inquietudes y preocupaciones intelectuales: la educación principesca y cortesana, el problema del valimiento, lo religioso, lo nobiliario, el lugar de lo femenino en la corte o, también, la materialidad de los textos cortesanos y la materialidad del gobierno de la monarquía desde la corte.

Beschreibung: El siglo XIX elevó la Guerra de la Independencia al rango de mito fundador de la nación española: el Dos de Mayo, el sitio de Zaragoza, la batalla de Bailén suenan todavía hoy como las hazañas de una gesta patriótica sin parangón. Esta interpretación tiene una historia: la sacralización de las guerras napoleónicas, en tanto que mito liberal, elaborado en los años 1830, conoció numerosos vaivenes, al paso de una historia política sobresaltada. ¿Qué lugar ocupa este mito en la vida política española del siglo XIX? A todas luces, el mito y las memorias de la Guerra de la Independencia, desde 1808 hasta la celebración del centenario, constituyen un verdadero hilo conductor que permite indagar en la arqueología del sentimiento nacional español y sus posteriores vicisitudes.

Beschreibung: Beacons and swamps is a proposal for dialogue with the historiography of Argentine prisons, which saw provincial prisons as "swamps": immobile, grey, unchanging spaces. Although it is true that the pace of change in the provinces differed enormously from that of the capital, the work of the local prison reformers was to build "beacons" of modernity, in the style of the one installed in Buenos Aires: the famous National Penitentiary. Much has been discussed about the "panopticon", that institutional model of the society of control, but little is known about those "swamps" that constituted "the grey punishment of the majority". The aim of this book is to explore what is hidden in those provincial confinement spaces, where most of the national prison population was punished. It is based on the hypothesis that it is precisely there, under those swamps, that the original Argentine prison is hidden, because it was forged in those grey places of transition rather than in the "modernising beacons" of Buenos Aires or Ushuaia. Far from the "model", and from the punitive "should be", the embryos of the contemporary prison are hidden in the marshes. Delving into the mud and unearthing these vestiges, investigating the logic of the functioning of provincial prisons, will allow a better understanding of the emergence and consolidation of the punitive devices that characterise Argentine prisons today.

Beschreibung: Faros y pantanos, es una propuesta de diálogo con la historiografía de las prisiones argentinas que vio en las cárceles provinciales, “pantanos”: espacios inmóviles, grises y sin cambios. Si bien es cierto que los ritmos de cambio provinciales diferían enormemente con el de la capital, el trabajo de los reformistas penitenciarios locales fue el de construir “faros” de modernidad, al estilo del instalado en Buenos Aires: la célebre Penitenciaría Nacional. Se ha discutido mucho sobre el “panóptico”, aquel modelo institucional de la sociedad de control, sin embargo, poco se conoce de aquellos “pantanos” que constituyeron “el gris castigo de la mayoría”. La apuesta de este libro es explorar lo que esconden aquellos espacios de reclusión provinciales, donde se castigaba a la mayor parte de la población carcelaria nacional. Se parte de la hipótesis de que, precisamente allí, debajo de aquellos pantanos se esconde la prisión argentina primigenia, porque se fraguó en esos grises lugares de transición más que en los “faros modernizadores” de Buenos Aires o Ushuaia. Apartadas del “modelo”, y del “deber ser” punitivo, se esconden en la marisma los embriones de la prisión contemporánea. Adentrarse en el barro y desenterrar esos vestigios, investigar acerca de la lógica de funcionamiento de las cárceles provinciales, permitirá comprender mejor el surgimiento y la consolidación de los dispositivos punitivos que caracterizan a las cárceles argentinas hoy.

Beschreibung: What is 'typically' habsburgish about the network of cities that were under the rule of the imperial dynasty for several centuries? As a place of artistic and intellectual production, as an economic hub, as a decision-making centre, the limited space of the city interacted with the empire. The contributions brought together in this book study the influences and exchanges (economic relations, political culture, artistic productions) that shaped the territories governed by the Habsburgs in Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Hungary, Austria and America, from the modern era to the contemporary period. The traces of these interactions testify of the unique role played by urban cooperation in the development of a composite monarchy.

Lieu de production artistique et intellectuelle, cœur économique, centre décisionnel, l’espace limité de la ville agit en interaction avec l’empire. Les contributions rassemblées ici étudient les influences et les échanges (relations économiques, culture politique, productions artistiques) qui ont façonné les territoires gouvernés par les Habsbourg en Espagne, en Italie, aux Pays-Bas, en Hongrie, en Autriche et en Amérique, de l’époque moderne à l’époque contemporaine. Les traces de ces interactions témoignent du rôle exceptionnel qu’a joué la coopération urbaine dans le fonctionnement d’une monarchie composite.

Beschreibung: Was ist ""typisch"" habsburgisch an dem Netzwerk von Städten, die mehrere Jahrhunderte lang unter der Herrschaft der kaiserlichen Dynastie standen? Als Ort der künstlerischen und intellektuellen Produktion, als wirtschaftliches Herz und als Entscheidungszentrum agierte der begrenzte Raum der Stadt in Wechselwirkung mit dem Reich. Die hier versammelten Beiträge untersuchen die Einflüsse und den Austausch (wirtschaftliche Beziehungen, politische Kultur, künstlerische Produktionen), die die von den Habsburgern regierten Gebiete in Spanien, Italien, den Niederlanden, Ungarn, Österreich und Amerika von der Neuzeit bis in die Gegenwart prägten. Die Spuren dieser Interaktionen zeugen von der außergewöhnlichen Rolle, die die städtische Zusammenarbeit für das Funktionieren einer zusammengesetzten Monarchie spielte.

Beschreibung: La importancia del adorno de interiores en el siglo xviii apenas ha dejado vestigios materiales más allá de las residencias palaciegas, siendo igualmente escaso el estudio de sus fuentes. Entre estas últimas se encuentra el plan decorativo para los apartamentos de la duquesa de Alba en el Palacio de Buenavista (1792), raro testimonio escrito en forma de viaje pintoresco por el comerciante de sedas y adornista François Grognard, quien hizo un diseño ex profeso a la moda. La traducción al español de este apasionante relato se acompaña de la transcripción anotada de la correspondencia manuscrita conservada en la Bibliothèque municipale de Lyon, y tres estudios particulares sobre Grognard, el palacio de Buenavista y la actividad de los adornistas. El libro es una contribución novedosa al conocimiento de la intensa actividad artística y comercial de Madrid y de las relaciones internacionales a través de un intermediario culto y moderno.

In a series of seminars, organised by the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History in Mexico City, Lima, Bogotá and São Paulo, scholars from different disciplines presented innovative studies on the history of religious normativity and its practices. Based upon the Lima colloquium, the present volume focuses on the viceroyalty of Peru (16th-19th centuries).

Beschreibung: Este libro quiere aportar conocimiento y arrojar luz sobre los hechos transcurridos durante la Guerra Civil y tras los años de dictadura, en relación al papel que jugó la Iglesia en esta época histórica. Los lectores verán enseguida cómo las relaciones entre religión y Estado pasaron por diferentes vicisitudes y etapas, y que en puridad deberíamos hablar del papel que jugaron las Iglesias (en plural) o si se prefiere de los papeles (en plural) que jugó la Iglesia. En los largos cuarenta años de la dictadura, la Iglesia sufrió importantes transformaciones, al compás de las que se experimentaban en el tejido social. Los lectores las encontrarán en estas páginas y comprobarán, una vez más, que la historia no se escribe de forma lineal.

Beschreibung: This book aims to study the history of the University of Tortosa from its canonical erection in 1600 to 1717, when it was transferred to Cervera. Through four chapters the place of the University of Tortosa in the set of the Universities of the Crown of Aragon is studied, through the proposopography of rectors, lecturers and graduates. It was a Convent-University run by the Order of Preachers that exclusively taught Philosophy and Theology. The documentary appendix includes the Statutes of the Colegio de San Matías and San Jaime, the Statutes of the University, as well as the list of graduates that has been preserved for the periods 1600-1623 and 1659-1717. Among them, there are numerous regular and secular clergymen from Valencia, Catalonia, Aragon and Mallorca.---Este libro pretende estudiar la historia de la Universidad de Tortosa desde su erección canónica en 1600 hasta 1717, año en el que fue transferida a Cervera. A través de cuatro capítulos, se estudia el lugar de la Universidad de Tortosa en el conjunto de las Universidades de la Corona de Aragón, mediante la proposopografía de rectores, lectores y graduados. Era un Convento-Universidad que estaba en manos de la Orden de Predicadores, y en el que se enseñaba exclusivamente Filosofía y Teología. El apéndice documental incluye los Estatutos del Colegio de San Matías y San Jaime, los Estatutos de la Universidad, así como la relación de los graduados que se ha conservado para los períodos 1600-1623 y 1659-1717. Beschreibung: "Ecclesiastical institutions and actors were essential for the formation of normative orders in early modern Ibero-America. However, both legal historiography, due to its strong legalistic, state-centred imprint, and general historiography on colonial times, more inclined towards secular law, have only rarely discussed the contribution of ecclesiastical normativity to the formation of that normative texture which, in the historiographical tradition, has been called ‘derecho indiano’. In light of this situation, the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History has organised a series of seminars in different Latin American cities in order to offer an interdisciplinary forum dedicated to the research of ‘ecclesiastical normativities and institutions in Ibero-America’ between the 16th and 19th centuries. The present volume is the first in a series of publications that document the results of this cycle of seminars celebrated in Mexico City, Lima, Bogotá and São Paulo. The book, focusing on New Spain, is divided into five thematic parts. The first section presents investigations on canon law and moral theology that deal with characteristic aspects of multinormativity and the teaching of those disciplines in early modern times. The second section examines diocesan governance and ecclesiastical power in Mexico City and Puebla via statutes of the cathedral chapter, members of the ‘curia arzobispal’ and pertinent legal opinions. In the third section, the contributors reflect on the normativity and administration of sacraments, drawing on conciliar norms, treatises, pragmatic literature but as well on registers of baptisms and confessions. The fourth section deals with ethnic groups in courts of justice, both civil and ecclesiastic ones: indigenous people accused of ‘hechicería’ in a tribunal of Tlaxcala and Afro-Mexicans who started litigation in the archiepiscopal court of Mexico. The articles of the fifth section cover the topics of beatification, devotion and cultural expressions (music, images) from a normative perspective and extend the period of investigation to the 19th century. The articles on ecclesiastical institutions and normativities in New Spain collected in this volume propose new research fields for legal history and the history of the Church, which at the same time are relevant for social and cultural history. The editors’ purpose has been to present approaches that explore the relationship between different types of normativities, their local adaptations, the ties with global debates, the forms of solving conflicts, as well as the role of jurists, theologians and other actors. The topics discussed by the authors represented in this volume – who cultivate the disciplines of history, legal history, church history, ethnohistory, art history and the history of music – contribute to a better understanding of the normative religious universe in Spanish America."

Beschreibung: The purpose of this book is to explain the process of establishing the seven Spanish grand colleges where a large part of the State and the Church elite servants were educated in the 16th and 17th centuries. To this end those colleges are considered, first, in the framework of the European collegiate movement, before placing them in the Spanish one. A study of the institutional system of those foundations follows and, in the process, several given truths are challenged. The book closes with an analysis of the careers of the individuals educated in those ‘schools’ for high bureaucrats – labelled as ‘schools of empire’ – which, with the time, became a power within the State thus causing its disappearance.---El propósito de esta obra es explicar el proceso de creación de los siete colegios mayores, en los que se formó gran parte de la elite que gestionó las principales instituciones del Estado y de la Iglesia en la España de los siglos XVI y XVII. Para ello, se sitúan primero los colegios en el contexto general del movimiento colegial europeo, antes de considerar específicamente el movimiento colegial español. Se describe después el sistema institucional de esas fundaciones, consideradas como un todo, y se cuestionan algunos planteamientos generalmente aceptados en torno a las mismas. En la tercera parte se analiza la proyección profesional de los colegiales formados en esas “escuelas” de formación de altos burócratas –a las que se denomina “escuelas de imperio”– los cuales, con el tiempo, acabarán convirtiéndose en una potencia dentro del Estado, provocando así su desaparición.

Beschreibung: Alternatives to the restored 1812 Spanish Constitution preceded the second constitutional period. The Doctrinairism, professed by a relevant part of the deputies in the Cortes, and by most of the governments, was the most important influence. All of them defended a model similar to the French Charte constitutionnelle of June 4, 1814; consequently, they vehemently opposed the single-chambered system, the suspensive veto and the preeminence of the Legislative branch, among other characteristics of the 1812 Constitution. This book aims to confront the ideas of the Constitution and the constitutional types of the two main ramifications of Spanish liberalism through the analysis of General and deputy Rafael del Riego cases, an eloquent expression of that political struggle.

Beschreibung: La instauración del segundo periodo constitucional en 1820 venía precedida por alternativas a la Constitución restaurada, las más importantes de las cuales estaban influidas por el moderantismo y doctrinarismo que profesaban una parte relevante de diputados en las Cortes inauguradas en junio de ese año y la mayoría de los Gobiernos del periodo. Todos ellos defendieron un modelo similar a la Charte constitutionnelle francesa de 4 de junio de 1814 y, en consecuencia, se opusieron con vehemencia al sistema monocameral, al veto suspensivo y a la preeminencia del Legislativo entre otras características que ofrecía la de 1812. Este libro tiene por objeto la confrontación de las ideas de constitución y los tipos constitucionales de las dos principales ramas del liberalismo a través del análisis de los casos que afectaron al general y diputado exaltado Rafael del Riego. En ellos, esa lucha, a través de una de sus expresiones más elocuentes -el enfrentamiento entre el Ejecutivo y el Legislativo y el surgimiento de prácticas espurias-, se manifiesta de una manera elocuente.

Beschreibung: Las Brigadas Internacionales forman parte indisociable de nuestra memoria histórica asociada a la Guerra Civil, una memoria histórica bien distinta según de qué lado de las trincheras se estuviera, así como de la ideología y valores de los que nos hagamos partícipes los españoles y cuantos extranjeros los asuman como propios. Sobre ellas no dejan de aparecer estudios e investigaciones como los que hoy se reúnen aquí, que tienen su origen en algunas de las ponencias y comunicaciones presentadas en el Congreso Internacional del Antifascismo Combatiente, desde las Brigadas Internacionales a la “resistencia”, que tuvo lugar en Barcelona con motivo del 75.º aniversario de la creación de las Brigadas los días 27, 28 y 29 de octubre de 2011. Participaron en tal evento destacados especialistas españoles y extranjeros que abordaron la cuestión desde diversas perspectivas enriqueciendo así nuestro cocimiento de su participación en la GCE y su significación histórica.

Boxer, antiguo espía británico y profesor de historia colonial portuguesa y holandesa, publicó un artículo donde describía un bello códice que él mismo había adquirido en una subasta. El hoy denominado Códice Boxer, creado bajo el gobierno de Gómez Pérez Dasmariñas (1590-1593) en la colonia española de Filipinas, es un documento absolutamente excepcional tanto por su contenido textual como por sus bellas ilustraciones en color, probablemente realizadas por un artista chino del parián de Manila. En sus páginas reúne veintidós jornadas, derroteros y, sobre todo, relaciones etnográficas de procedencia diversa, la mayoría escritos originalmente en castellano, y otros traducidos del portugués o del chino. Entre textos e imágenes, ofrece información sobre los pueblos nativos de Guam y Filipinas, el sudeste asiático (Borney, Maluku, Java, Aceh, Patani, Siam, Nueva Guinea), las costas de Champa y Vietnam, el norte de Formosa (Taiwán), Japón y China. El Códice, sin embargo, plantea innumerables interrogantes acerca de su autoría, su cronología precisa, sus finalidades y su carácter culturalmente híbrido. El presente libro reúne, por primera vez, diversos estudios con el objetivo de dar respuesta a todas estas cuestiones.

Para llevar a cabo la misión, González de Mendoza realizó una ingente labor de acopio de noticias sobre historia, geografía y tradiciones que le permitieran conocer la sofisticada complejidad de la civilización china. Con el presente libro, Diego Sola no solo reconstruye la biografía de González de Mendoza, que descubrió a Occidente cómo eran China y sus habitantes, sino que recupera la notable influencia que ejerció en los escritores españoles y europeos de su generación.

Beschreibung: The main purpose of this book is to contribute with the discussion about criminal proceedings and how doctrinal opinions spread through the South of Italy, Iberian countries and New Spain in the Early Modern age. Some relevant topics are judicial discretionary, protection and application of royal competencies, as well as the importance of the decisiones in regard to the procedural activity within the high courts of Portugal and Sicily. The interdependence between Criminal law, doctrinal discourses and judicial practice within the scope of the European ius commune is a basic feature of the chapters contained in this book.---El propósito principal de esta obra colectiva es la contribución al conocimiento de los procedimientos penales y de la difusión de las diversas tendencias doctrinales en el ámbito del sur de Italia, los territorios ibéricos y Nueva España en la temprana Edad Moderna. Algunos temas relevantes son la discrecionalidad judicial, la protección y aplicación de las competencias reales, así como la importancia de las decisiones en lo que atañe a la actividad procesal en el seno de los altos tribunales de Portugal y Sicilia. Beschreibung: This volume, which focuses on the relations between the two branches of the Habsburg dynasty in the modern era, examines the ways in which identity was constructed exploring the idea of a joint policy of the House of Austria in Europe. It also examines, through various case studies, the movement through the Habsburg possessions of individuals who belonged not only to the elite but to a variety of social and professional circles - artists, ecclesiastics, merchants and scholars. Ce volume consacré aux relations entre les deux branches de la dynastie de Habsbourg à l’époque moderne s’intéresse aux modalités d’une construction identitaire et soumet à l’analyse l’idée d’une politique conjointe de la Maison d’Autriche en Europe, avant d’aborder, à travers quelques études de cas, la circulation à travers les possessions des Habsbourg d’individus appartenant non pas aux seules élites mais à des milieux sociaux et professionnels variés – artistes, ecclésiastiques, marchands et savants.

Beschreibung: This book, written by Rafael Ramis-Barceló, brings together three studies on the University of Lleida (1561-1717). The first is a description of the Studium of Lleida during the pontificate of Antonio Agustín. It was a Golden Age, with great professors, although with frequent conflicts. The second is an analysis of the Faculty of Civil and Canon Law from the death of Felipe V until the transfer of the University to Cervera. The third deals with the Faculties of Arts and Theology for the same period. These two final chapters study the decline of the University and its problems during the Baroque Age. The book –with new sources, from different Catalan archives– aims to offer an overview of the last period of the Studium of Lleida and its intricate transfer to Cervera.----------Este libro, escrito por Rafael Ramis-Barceló, reúne tres estudios sobre la Universidad de Lérida (1561-1717). El primero es una descripción del Estudio de Lérida durante el pontificado de Antonio Agustín. Fue una época dorada, con grandes maestros, aunque con frecuentes conflictos. El segundo es un análisis de la Facultad de Leyes y Cánones desde el fallecimiento de Felipe V hasta la transferencia de la Universidad a Cervera. El tercero trata las Facultades de Artes y de Teología durante el mismo período. Estos dos capítulos finales inciden en la decadencia de la Universidad y a los problemas que tuvo que afrontar durante el Barroco. Beschreibung: "The Third Mexican Provincial Council, celebrated in 1585, has always been considered a cornerstone of the canonical law of Spanish America, both with regard to its content and the long period and vast territory in which it was in force. New possibilities of research had been made possible due to the publication of the working manuscripts in recent years, enabling a better understanding of the juridical work produced by the bishops. Given these new materials, the author has delved deeper into the drafting processes carried out by the provincial council. Taking a close look at the reports sent to the council, the theological and juridical treaties, and other conciliar and synodal legislation, along with the consultations to jurists and theologians, the author has identified different processes of drafting of the conciliar decrees. The result of this research allows us to relocate the authorship of the conciliar decrees to the Mexican episcopate as well as establish the degree of their originality. Locality of the law and its significance in the legal order in force at that time is one of the characteristics of the body of decrees promulgated at the Third Mexican Provincial Council."

Beschreibung: The book presents the catalogue of Hispanic doctors in Civil and Canon Law graduated at the University of La Sapienza in Rome from 1549 to 1774. It also includes a list of Portuguese graduates. In La Sapienza, contrary to what has been maintained by many scholars, hundreds of foreign students received their doctorate degrees in Civil and Canon Law. The book, after a presentation of the College of Consistorial Lawyers and the Professors of the Faculty of Civil and Canon Law, emphasizes the international character of the doctoral students and focuses on Spaniards. Decisive contributions can be made going through the list of graduates, supervisors, examiners and witnesses, not only to the identification of Hispanic civilists and canonists, but also to the study of the academic, cultural and political networks, woven in Rome during the Modern Era.--------El libro presenta la nómina de doctores hispanos en leyes y cánones en la Universidad de La Sapienza de Roma desde 1549 hasta 1774. Se incluye asimismo una nómina de graduados portugueses. En La Sapienza, contrariamente a lo que se ha sostenido mayoritariamente, se doctoraron en ambos derechos centenares de estudiantes extranjeros. El libro, tras una presentación del Colegio de Abogados Consistoriales y de los profesores de la Facultad de Leyes y Cánones, enfatiza el carácter internacional de los doctorandos y se centra en los hispanos. A través del elenco de graduados, promotores, examinadores y testigos se puede contribuir decisivamente no sólo a la identificación de legistas y canonistas hispanos, sino también al estudio de las redes académicas, culturales y políticas que se tejieron en Roma durante la época moderna.

Beschreibung: The purpose of this book is to make a comparison the books of statutes of the seven Spanish elite colleges – the colegios mayores – and their changes throughout the time. To do so those books have been deconstructed first and reordered later, in accordance with the type of members of the college communities, their internal organization, core values and rules regarding daily life and the protection and control of the colleges. In practical terms this work is a companion book of part II of Escuelas de imperio. La formación de una elite en los Colegios Mayores (siglos XVI-XVII) (2019), where the foundations of the Spanish collegiate system are analyzed. The book includes a transcript of the constitutions and statutes of the College of Santa Cruz in Valladolid, whose last printed edition is from 1786.

Se ha procedido para ello a una deconstrucción de sus normas y la reordenación posterior en base a las categorías de miembros de las comunidades colegiales, su organización interna, los principios por los que se regían, las normas que regulaban su vida cotidiana, y las que debían asegurar la protección y el control de las fundaciones. A efectos prácticos, esta obra quiere ser un “libro de acompañamiento” de la parte II de Escuelas de imperio. La formación de una elite en los Colegios Mayores (siglos XVI-XVII) (2019), en la que se analizan los fundamentos del sistema colegial español. El libro se completa con una transcripción de la constituciones y estatutos del Colegio de Santa Cruz de Valladolid, cuya última edición impresa es de 1786.
