    Description: Title in English: Summary of Best Practice : Experiences in Inclusive Education An inclusive school strives to involve all actors in the life of the school. Management, faculty, assistants and counselors, pupils, parents and carers are all seen as important partners in education and upbringing. The basis of this partnership is mutual trust and belief in a common goal – the development of the educational potential and personality of each student. The school, which manages to build a positive climate, thus provides a pleasant environment in which all actors feel good and are themselves interested in participating in the life of the school. The publication is based on the best practice of schools in the Czech Republic. We convey their experiences, the challenges they faced and the ways in which they dealt with them. The Summary contains interesting ideas, tips for specific activities and proven measures.

This compilation discusses many current themes, such as changes in teaching and working methods at different levels of education, change management and curriculum work. The book also provides an insight into how children experience stories of news reports or how girls construct girlhood in their stories. All the articles in this compilation are combined with a review of educational change, along with a methodological connection: the material of all the articles is collected using the method of empathy-based stories. The book shows how multipurpose this method is: it is equally suitable for examining the perceptions of children as well as for examining a whole organizational change. The book presents not only the practical research carried out with the method, but also provides a guide to the methodology and introduces good practices. "
    Description: "Aikamme kasvatus: vain muutos on pysyvää? -teos esittelee 14 eläytymismenetelmätutkimusta, jotka kaikki tarkastelevat kasvatuksen kentällä tapahtuneita muutoksia. Teoksessa pohditaan monia ajankohtaisia teemoja, kuten opetus- ja työtapojen muutosta eri koulutusasteilla, muutosjohtamista ja opetussuunnitelmatyötä sekä tulevaisuustaitoja. Teos tarjoaa näkökulman myös muun muassa siihen, miten lapset kokevat uutisten väkivaltakertomusten hahmot tai miten tytöt rakentavat kertomuksissaan tyttöyttä. Lisäksi teoksen ajankohtaisina teemoina pohditaan mm. erilaisia isyystyyppejä, nuorten kännykän käytön rajoittamista sekä ammattikoululaisten suhtautumista maahanmuuttajiin. Kaikkia edellä kuvattuja artikkeleita yhdistää kasvatuspainotteisen muutoksen tarkastelun ohella metodologinen yhteys: kaikkien artikkelien aineisto on kerätty eläytymismenetelmää käyttäen. Teos osoittaa, kuinka monikäyttöisestä menetelmästä on kyse: se sopii yhtälailla lasten käsitysten tutkimiseen kuin kokonaisen organisaatiomuutoksen tarkasteluun. Teos esittelee paitsi menetelmällä tehtyjä käytännön tutkimuksia, tarjoaa myös käyttöohjeen menetelmään vasta tutustuvalle tutkijalle.     Description: This book is the first Finnish-language collection of research on superdiversity. At the core of the book is the growing migration to Finland since the turn of the 1990s and its numerous effects on Finnish society. The interdisciplinary examination of superdiversity is important at the current moment: Finland as a society has reached the point where certain social categories, such as ethnic background, country of birth, mother tongue or gender, are not necessarily sufficient to understand the increased diversity and its consequences. The book consists of a comprehensive introduction to the topic and thirteen chapters. In Finland, research on superdiversity is carried out especially in critical sociolinguistics and applied language studies, education, cultural studies, social sciences, and urban studies. Therefore, these disciplines are strongly represented in the collection, and the chapters approach a variety of topics including refugees’ mental health, experiences of multilingual families, the diversity of education and working life, discursive practices in social media, issues of urban planning and pro-asylum activism.

    Description: Title in English: Productive culture of teaching and learning in didactic case studies The book introduces the issue of productive culture of teaching and learning in broader didactical context. In the first part of the book, three areas of productive culture of teaching and learning are as theoretical framework presented: 1. clarity, structure, coherence, 2. cognitive activation, instrumentalization, semantization, 3. Supportive learning environment. The second part of the book presents 17 didactic case studies that have been developed by teams that consisted of researchers and teachers from schools.     Description: "The stability and quality of work careers are major social and economic issues, as the funding of the Nordic welfare state is based on the employment of working-age people and the tax revenue collected from work, production and consumption. This edited volume examines how work careers have developed in specific industrial sectors and at different levels of education in recent decades. The research results are based on the linked employer-employee data of Statistics Finland, company statistics and interviews with industry experts. Careers are examined from several different perspectives, including career stability, employment status, income development, mobility between industries and places of work, and on-the-job training. Based on the results, careers have not weakened between cohorts on average in Finland. Instead of the often-expressed perception of greater job instability, there is high stability of employment combined with high mobility within the careers, owing to the high frequency of changing industries and jobs. However, the career development of women and the low-skilled lags behind that of men and the more highly educated, meaning that equality in earnings has not progressed. Other key findings of the study suggest that adult education differs according to the level of education, and that companies' investments in intangible capital anticipate positive career outcomes for employees."

    Description: Title in English: 3A Procedure: Instrument for Reflection and Evaluation of Instruction 3A procedure – designation for the methodological procedure of reflection and qualitative analysis of teaching, which is associated with the evaluation of the quality of teaching and the proposal of improving changes. The concept of 3A methodology follows the tradition of didactic analysis focused on the content of education as developed in the didactic approach of W. Klafki (1967). The idea here is that the teacher first reflects on the question “what will I teach / what will the pupils learn” and derives the choice of teaching practices, i.e. “how will I teach / how will the pupils go about learning”, from the answer to this question. The method of research on teaching presented here is intended to meet the needs of teachers first and foremost by addressing the questions that teachers actually have to address when they prepare lessons, when they work with pupils in them, and when they reflect on ways to improve them. The book will offer teachers the opportunity to engage with research findings and to put them into practice.

    Description: This book explores the media coverage of three prominent Finnish labor market cases in the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat. It analyzes how this arena supported or undermined the power positions of each side and the reaching of the contract. The cases in study are the first proper general agreement in 1968 (Liinamaa 1) and the endeavors for so-called “social contract” by the Government of Esko Aho (1991) and Juha Sipilä (2015). The study identifies changes and continuities in the political discourses, in the ways of making validity claims in political argumentation, and in media/journalistic interventionism. These content analytical viewpoints illustrate the theoretical ideas about mediatization of politics presented in the book. By analyzing corporatist and pluralist aspects of decision making, the book opens a view in the relationships among labor market organizations, the Government, and the media in the three decades studied.
    Description: Teoksessa kuvataan, millainen julkisen politikoinnin areena Helsingin Sanomissa rakentui kolmessa merkittävässä työmarkkinatapauksessa ja miten tämä areena tuki tai horjutti sopimusten syntyä ja osapuolten asemaa. Tarkasteltavina ovat vuonna 1968 solmittu Suomen ensimmäinen varsinainen tulopoliittinen sopimus (Liinamaa 1) sekä Esko Ahon ja Juha Sipilän hallitusten yritykset niin sanotuiksi ”yhteiskuntasopimuksiksi” vuosina 1991 ja 2015. Tutkimuksen kohteena olevista jutuista tunnistetaan muutoksia ja pysyvyyksiä, jotka liittyvät niin tulopolitiikan puhetapoihin, julkisen argumentoinnin tapoihin kuin median/journalismin toimintaan. Nämä sisällönanalyysin näkökulmat havainnollistavat kirjassa esitettäviä politiikan medioitumista koskevia teoreettisia ideoita. Päätöksenteon korporatistisia ja pluralistisia piirteitä analysoimalla kirja avaa näkymän siihen, miten hallituksen, työmarkkinajärjestöjen ja median suhde on eri vuosikymmeninä julkisuudessa asettunut.

    Description: Discursive study of religion (DSR) has become an increasingly recognised and applied approach to the study of religion. It asks: What passes for ‘religion’ in society? How do different constructions of ‘religion’ affect other social spheres such as politics, law, and everyday life, and vice versa? In this collection, Finnish scholars—many of them internationally recognized authorities on the subject—discuss DSR’s theoretical underpinnings, map the variety of discursive approaches, and apply the approach to case studies of politics, spirituality, and history.
