    Description: Two different sanctioning systems are applicable to young adult offenders in Germany: juvenile criminal law and adult criminal law. The present study provides an overview of the various sanctions applied to these adolescents aged between 18 and 20 and of their reconvictions during an observation period. Based on data from the German Federal Central Criminal Register (Bundeszentral- und Erziehungsregister), the study covers all convictions and juvenile diversional measures in a specific reference year. This data set allows a detailed examination of the applied sanctions and measures, the proportion of juvenile and adult criminal law, and the reconviction rate differentiated by gender, age, offence and other variables. The empirical analysis also addresses regional differences in sanctioning and examines, if juvenile criminal law is “milder” and/or more effective than adult criminal law – questions that play an essential role in the debate on suitable sanctions for young adults.
    Description: Die Untersuchung nimmt eine Bestandsaufnahme der strafrechtlichen Behandlung von Heranwachsenden vor und analysiert die Rückfälligkeit dieser Altersgruppe nach jugend- und nach erwachsenenstrafrechtlichen Reaktionen. Dabei werden zentrale Fragestellungen empirisch überprüft, die im Rahmen der Reformdiskussion um die Heranwachsendenregelung des § 105 I JGG eine Rolle spielen: Inwiefern fällt die strafrechtliche Behandlung von Heranwachsenden regional unterschiedlich aus? Ist das Jugendstrafrecht für Heranwachsende „milder“ als das Erwachsenenstrafrecht? Gibt es Hinweise auf eine bessere Wirksamkeit jugend- oder erwachsenenstrafrechtlicher Reaktionen bei Heranwachsenden? Ausgewertet werden Daten des Bundeszentral- und des Erziehungsregisters, die nicht nur alle im Bezugsjahr gegenüber Heranwachsenden ergangenen Verurteilungen abbilden, sondern auch den bedeutsamen Bereich der jugendstrafrechtlichen Diversion (§§ 45 I, II, III und 47 JGG) abdecken. Abgerundet wird die Analyse durch eine ergänzende Untersuchung von nicht im Bundeszentral- und Erziehungsregister enthaltenen Entscheidungsarten (insbesondere Einstellungen nach der StPO) anhand von anderen Datenquellen.

    Description: The volume discusses the possibilities and limits of the documentary method in terms of basic theory, methodology and methodology. Triangulation is important in two ways: as a research practice in itself and as a way of identifying blind spots. The interest in the topic of triangulation - taking on different perspectives - relates above all to questions about the possibilities and limits offered by the documentary method for triangulation in terms of basic theory, methodology, and method. This goes beyond the common understanding of triangulation as mixed methods, which involves the combination of different methods and the validation of results. The second part of the book deals with "blind spots" of the documentary method, which become clear in comparison with other methodologies and procedures of empirical social and educational research, but which are also constituted and revealed in the actual research practice (in the field of research). Both dimensions are taken into account in the volume.; Der Band diskutiert in grundlagentheoretischer, methodologischer und methodischer Hinsicht Möglichkeiten und Grenzen der Dokumentarischen Methode. Triangulation ist dabei in doppelter Weise von Bedeutung: einmal als Forschungspraxis an sich und einmal als Möglichkeit der Identifikation blinder Flecken. Das Interesse am Thema Triangulation – Einnahme unterschiedlicher Perspektiven – bezieht sich vor allem auf Fragen danach, welche Möglichkeiten und Grenzen die Dokumentarische Methode für Triangulationen in grundlagentheoretischer, methodologischer und methodischer Hinsicht bietet. Damit wird über das gängige Verständnis von Triangulation als Mixed Methods hinausgegangen, bei dem es um die Kombination verschiedener Methoden und die Validierung von Ergebnissen geht. Im zweiten Teil des Buches geht es um „Blinde Flecken“ der Dokumentarischen Methode, die im Vergleich mit anderen Methodologien und Verfahren der empirischen Sozial- und Bildungsforschung deutlich werden, sich aber auch in der eigentlichen Forschungspraxis (im Forschungsfeld) konstituieren und offenbaren. Im Band werden beide Dimensionen berücksichtigt.

    Description: Prototypes migrate from the workshops to society. They are no longer considered deficient because of incomplete objects. Rather, it is through the design of the material provisional that the social day after tomorrow is shaped and technologised. The production and reception of these artefacts is transformed from an exclusive expert activity to a public social practice: Prototypes are produced in publicly accessible Makerspaces and celebrated in urban event formats. Sascha Dickel shows that this can also be accompanied by a new form of criticism that does not oppose the technologization of the social, but opens up ways to design alternative futures in a technologically integrated world.
