Description: Title in English: Sunday poetic educational considerations: On turns and balancing in education The book provides a reflection of selected issues in education in a form of shorter texts which can be labelled as “Sunday poetic considerations”. They are (hopefully) characterized by a skilful use of language, discussion of important matters, and a happy ending. This collection comprises ten poetic considerations all debating twists, turns, and balancing in upbringing and education – they concern school, school education, curriculum, teaching and learning, educational professions and mainly the teaching profession. The book is aimed at general public – not necessarily experts in the field.

Description: The successful connection between content knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge and pedagogical knowledge is considered a parameter for success in teacher education. In recent years, history didactics has also dealt intensively with the question of how the relationship between these three facets should be aligned for the various phases of history teacher education. However, one focus to date has been on the interplay between educational sciences and history didactics. This anthology, on the other hand, attempts to bring historical science and history didactics into a more intensive dialogue. To achieve this, various scholars specializing in modern and contemporary history contribute articles that are commented on by history didacticists. The volume covers various topics, including global history, but also the history of Northern and Eastern Europe or queer history. Likewise, a view into practical museum work is opened up. The resulting dialogue shows that the various subdisciplines of historical scholarship can benefit enormously from an exchange with each other.

Description: Nowadays, media determine the daily routine of schools. But what are media? How has media been fought about over the centuries? This volume offers the foundations for a qualified confrontation with questions of media reflection and the use of media in school praxis. A historical overview shows the structures of the debates around the possibilities and dangers of the use of media, and thus serves to make the debate more objective. The comprehensible and competent representation of the central concepts, developments and discoveries of media theory make this book essential reading for students in education and student teachers from diverse subject areas.

Description: The present book by the Hamburg teacher and historian Uwe Schmidt on Hamburg schools in the "Third Reich" is the first comprehensive presentation of the school system in the Hanseatic city between 1933 and 1945. It is based on in-depth source research. The extensive study covers all types of schools and goes beyond the borders of the Hanseatic city before 1937: for the first time, it examines the school history of the former Prussian towns of Altona, Harburg and Wandsbek as well as other surrounding communities, which were added by the Gross-Hamburg Act in 1937.In addition to the content of this monograph, the qualified register of persons with biograms and, above all, the survey of the individual Hamburg schools and their history, which has been compiled with great effort, are particularly commendable, making this study a useful reference work. The work is divided into two parts: Volume 1 contains only the comprehensive presentation of the contents, while Volume 2 contains a listing of abbreviations, the list of schools from 1933 to 1945, statistical lists, references to sources, bibliography and sources, the registers (persons, subject and geographical index), the index of illustrations as well as information on authors and editors, the series and the Verein für Hamburgische Geschichte.

This is how they are currently perceived in public and academic discourse. This attribution can be explained against the background of findings, for example, regarding the percentage of boys attending secondary schools or the school-leaving qualifications achieved. The author asks which factors favour a development that is contrary to expectations and successful in terms of education, despite negative framework conditions. On the basis of autobiographical narrative interviews, orientations guiding male adolescents' actions are elaborated.
