    Description: Acta Slavica Estonica is an international series of publications on current issues of Russian and other Slavic languages, literatures and cultures. The first part of the book contains chapters about the general history of school textbooks for reading and the story of the heritage of two authors (Vyazemsky and Fet) in them. The second part of the book presents chapters on various Russian poets (Batyushkov, Zhukovsky, Pushkin, Koltsov, Tyutchev, Maikov) whose poems found a firm place in the reading materials for schools. The chapters of the monograph give an idea of different aspects of the history of these texts and their reception. The monograph has two supplements. In the first there is a list of 108 textbooks and books of reading which are all included in the unique data base accessible in the Internet (www.ruthenia.ru/canon). The second supplement offers a list of the most popular authors and their texts included in the textbooks of the 19th century.

    Description: Acta Slavica Estonica is an international series of publications on current issues of Russian and other Slavic languages, literatures and cultures. This issue of the subseries “Blokovskii sbornik” continues the series of studies started by Zara Mints in 1964. The majority of works from Section I of the book, “The Art of А. Blok in the Context of 19th–20th Century Literature,” is devoted to the study of the poet’s works, his perceptions of preceding writers’ works, and his biographical and artistic contacts with contemporaries. The articles in Section II, “Silver Age Literature: Creative and Social Strategies,” are mainly focused on artistic works and essays of modernist literati contemporary to Blok or to some extent resonating with his poetry and artistic worldview.

    Description: The Finnish novelist Kaarlo (Kalle) Alvar Päätalo’s (1919–2000) main work, the Iijoki series, consists of 26 novels (comprising ca. 17 000 pages) and was written in 1971–1998. In this book the text corpus in Kielipankki concerning Päätalo’s works is introduced to the readers, as well as the possibilities of digital text mining. This book includes scientific articles concerning the works of Kalle Päätalo. It also gives ideas for the research that can be carried out in the future. The authors of this book are researchers in the fields of history, linguistics and literature, respectively. The research results presented in this book speak for the fact that the Iijoki series is a significant source material for future research, for example from the point of view of oral history, language variation, metalanguage, swearing and the reader’s reception. The possibilities for future research seem to be quite plentiful.

    Description: In this book [titled Home, welfare work and vulnerability] the authors take the reader on welfare workers’ home visits to clients in need of support in their living. Welfare workers refer to professionals in health and social care who in the book are represented among others by social workers, social care workers and nurses. The main concepts of the book are home, welfare work and vulnerability and these are contemplated from different angles. Welfare work entails encountering people who are in vulnerable situations in the midst of their everyday lives. They may need support in coping with their mental health, with physical illnesses, with the challenges of achieving sobriety and recovery or perhaps with the difficulties accompanying old age. On the one hand their ability to act is limited and weak but on the other they have many kinds of strengths and resources. The book addresses a significant turning point in welfare services and work at which the objective is defined as the right of every individual to their own home and making living at home feasible for as long as possible. In the last fifty years or so many societal factors have made possible the dismantling of institutions, the reduction of places and the shortening of stays in institutions, the further development of care in the community, the construction of small residential and care facilities and most recently the further development of services to be taken into people’s homes. The last stage of this dismantling of institutions is referred to in the book as the “home turn”. As a societal change the home turn is complex – and that is how it is approached in the book. When one’s own home is the main place in which welfare policy and work are implemented, it is important to scrutinize more closely what actually occurs there and what special issues are connected to this given context. The book offers a timely point of view on the development of welfare services and the grass-root level welfare work done in the homes. It draws on interaction research based on ethnomethodology and human geography. Research data consist of recordings of home visits, researcher’s field diaries and interviews with clients and workers. The work includes both chapters providing conceptual and theoretical overviews and empirical research on the encounters between client and worker(s) on home visits. Welfare work accomplished in people’s homes entails many tensions and ethical issues which are analysed in the book and made visible through the means of research.

    Description: Title in English: Pronunciation in Learning German at Secondary Schools. This publication presents an empirical research of pronunciation mistakes of Czech students learning German as a second foreign language at elementary school. The aim of the research was to verify the extent of the students’ pronunciation difficulties with German pronunciation phenomena error-prone for Czech native speakers. The research determined in what way these errors manifest themselves in the transfer from the students’ previously acquired languages, i.e. their mother tongue (Czech) and the first foreign language learnt (English). Within the theoretical foundation, the focus is put on different concepts of pronunciation in terms of foreign language teaching objectives, definitions of language errors and their causes, the development of the German pronunciation standard and methodological approaches to error analysis.

    Description: This edited volume discusses multiple job holding as part of Finnish working life. The articles in this book examine this little researched phenomenon through a wide range of empirical data. Based on Statistics Finland's register data, different ways of combining jobs are classified. Interview material sheds light on the conditions for holding multible jobs. A new perspective is provided by the chaos theory of careers. According to the results of the study, very different paths lead to becoming a multiple job holder. The combination of jobs is influenced by the life path and interests of the individual, as well as by constraints and opportunities available. Motives can also be linked to professional networks, decisions made by immediate family, coincidences or whims. This book helps to understand the diversity of ways of working. At the same time, it illustrates the challenges faced by those who work multiple jobs as they try to operate within simpler models and categorisations of labour. It is essential reading for anyone interested in the changing nature of work, especially researchers, students and policy-makers.

    Description: The volume is a comprehensive handbook of oral history and memory studies in Finland. The Finnish research field has originally emerged at the collaborative intersection of history, folklore studies, and ethnology. Since then, this field has developed into vibrant multi- and cross-disciplinary arena characterized by a strong focus on methodological issues related to memory in culture and theoretical engagement with studies on narration and processes of remembering. The chapters of the book explore the perspectives on the production of memory-based knowledge in oral history interviews and collection campaigns of written reminiscences. Moreover, the book introduces versatile methodological approaches to the study of memory and memories, ranging from narrative to corpus analysis, and investigates the multiple media of remembrance from documentary film to museum exhibition. The chapters of the book also engage the field’s disciplinary position and interrogate the potentials and challenges related to the application of the methods of oral history research and the use of memory-based knowledge beyond academia in political, societal, and community-based projects.

    Description: Uzun yıllardır uygulanan liberal-kapitalist yönetişim modeli, bireyselleşmeyi ve piyasayı egemen kılıp, özel sektörü büyüterek, devleti ve hizmetlerini sınırlandırarak varlığını bugüne kadar sürdürdü. Ancak COVID-19 krizi ile birlikte bu ekonomik sistemin nasıl bir sonuç doğurduğuna hep birlikte şahit olduk. Dünyanın en büyük ekonomilerine sahip ülkelerin salgınla mücadelede ihtiyaç duyulan en temel koruma malzemelerini sağlamakta aciz duruma düşmesi, hastaları seçerek tedaviye almaları ve diğerlerini ölüme terk etmeleri, ölen insanlarını taşıyacak tabutları ve gömecek yerlerinin olmaması mevcut sistemlerin ne kadar insani olduğu sorununu somut bir şekilde ortaya çıkardı. Uluslararası rekabette en başarılı ülkeler, üstünlük sağlayan sektörlere ve üretime odaklanarak ekonomik gelişme stratejilerini bugüne kadar sürdürdüler. Ancak uzun tedarik zincirlerine ve küreselleşmeye dayalı bu yapı çökerken, katı sınırlar ve ulusal üretimlerle bu boşluğu doldurma arayışı ön plana çıktı. Ekonomiyle birlikte fonksiyonları zayıflayan, hizmet alan ve kapasitesi kısıtlanan devlet aygıtı ve yapısı, yaşanan salgınla birlikte büyük bir krizle karşı karşıya kaldı. COVID-19 salgınıyla birlikte ekonomik gelişmelere rağmen, sağlık hizmetlerinin ve tarımsal üretimin acil hallerde yarattığı etkilerinin insanlığı tehdit edecek boyutlara nasıl ulaştığını yaşayarak tecrübe ettik. Salgın ile birlikte tarımsal üretim başta olmak üzere temel ihtiyaçları karşılayacak üretimi yapabilmenin önemini bir kez daha anladık. Maske, solunum cihazı, ilaç ve aşı gibi halk sağlığı alanlarında üretim ve hizmetleri sunmanın ne kadar önemli olduğunun bilincine vardık. Üretimlerin stratejik öneminin dönemsel ve ihtiyaçlara göre değişebildiği gerçeğini bir kez daha yaşadık ve paramız olsa da bazı ürünleri ve hizmetleri satın alamayacağımızı gördük. Salgın, küresel düzeyde neredeyse hepimizi ruhsal, fiziksel ve sosyal açıdan eşitleyerek; sağlık, eğitim, gelir eşitsizliği, yoksulluk, işsizlik, göç, iklim krizi, temel insan ihtiyaçlarına erişim dahil her alanda yeni farkındalıklar oluşturdu. Salgın, bir yönüyle bencilliği besledi, dayanışmayı azalttı, yalnızlığa, biyolojik olduğu kadar psikolojik sorunlara ve bilgi kirliliğine yol açtı, ölüm korkusunu bireysel olmaktan çıkarıp, toplumsallaştırdı. Diğer yönüyle de dayanışma ihtiyacını artırdı ve ortak kader duygusunu güçlendirdi. Bu nedenle sosyal uyumu esas alan bir anlayışa olan ihtiyacımız daha fazla önem kazandı. Bundan dolayı toplumsal savrulmayı önleyecek ve panik yaşanmasına fırsat vermeyecek yapılanmaya ihtiyacımız arttı. 1980 sonrasında neoliberal rüzgârların etkisiyle yapılan özelleştirmelerle Türkiye’de de devlet nispeten küçültüldü, ekonomik ve sosyal sorunların yaşandığı bir dönemde küresel salgınla karşılaşıldı. Ancak genel sağlık sigortası, hastane sayısı, yatak kapasitesi gibi alanlarda sahip olduğumuz potansiyel ve kriz yönetme becerimiz sayesinde süreci nispeten daha iyi şartlarda geçirmekteyiz. Fakat bu gerçeğe rağmen ülkemizin de yeni şartlara adapte olmasını sağlayacak, krizi en az zararla atlatacak ve 21. yüzyılın ihtiyaçlarını karşılayacak yeniden yapılanmaya ihtiyacı artmaktadır. Ekonomik ve sosyal alanda yaşananlar yeni bir paradigma değişikliğine ihtiyaç olduğunu gösteriyor. Çünkü doyumsuzluğu ve obeziteyi besleyen sınırsız ihtiyaçlar algısı yerine, ihtiyaçların sınırlı olduğu ve isteklerin sınırlandırılabileceğini esas alan, bilgi hariç kaynakların sınırlı olduğu ilkesine dayalı yeni bir ekonomik düzeni inşa edecek bir paradigma değişikliğine yönelik beklenti artıyor. Kriz sürecini en az zararla atlatabilmek için hep birlikte dayanışma içinde mücadele ederek, küresel düzeyde yükselen işkollarını ve meslekleri esas alarak, endüstrileri ve iş piyasalarını yeniden yapılandırmak gerekiyor. Bu kitabın editörlüğünü üstelenen, yazar olarak katkıda bulunan ve hazırlanmasında görev alan fakültemizin çok kıymetli hocalarına bu vesileyle bir kez daha çok teşekkür ediyorum. 84 yıllık birikimimize uygun bir şekilde dünyada ve ülkemizde yaşanan ve yaşanacak sorunlara öğretim üyelerimiz kayıtsız kalmamış, var olan zor şartlara rağmen alternatifler üreterek, yol gösterici öngörülerde bulunmuşlardır. Hiç kuşkusuz bu kitap ön çalışma niteliğindedir, verilere ulaşıldıkça detaylandırılacaktır. Ufuk açıcı ve faydalı olması dileğiyle saygılar sunuyorum.

Ancak gelecek yönelimlerinde, kompleks niteliklerle çok daha hızlı seyreden teknolojik gelişmeler ile yasal ve etik düzenlemeler senkronize değildir.     Description: Engellilik Tarihi Yazıları, 15-16 Kasım 2018 tarihinde İstanbul Üniversitesi Engelliler Uygulama Merkezi ve İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Sağlık Daire Başkanlığı Engelliler Müdürlüğü işbirliği ile düzenlenen Dünden Bugüne Engellilik-Engellilik Araştırmaları Konferansı’nda sunulan çalışmalardan derlendi. Engellilik meselesini disiplinler arası bir yaklaşımla inceleyen ‘Engellilik Araştırmaları’, kuramsal ve uygulamalı bir bilim alanıdır. Bu alan 1970’li yıllarda Amerika Birleşik Devletleri ve İngiltere’de başlayan engelli hakları hareketinin akademik çalışmalara yansımasıyla ortaya çıktı. Sonraki yıllarda engelliliği sosyal, kültürel, tarihsel, hukuki, politik ve etik yönleriyle ele alan disiplinler arası bir araştırma alanı olarak Amerika ve Avrupa’ya yayıldı, pek çok üniversitede lisansüstü, hatta lisans düzeyinde programlar başlatıldı. Türkiye’de 2017 yılında, engellilik araştırmalarının geliştirilmesi amacıyla, İstanbul Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü Engellilik Araştırmaları Anabilim Dalı kurularak, yüksek lisans programı açıldı. Engellilik deneyiminin kişisel ve toplumsal düzeyde etkilerini incelemeyi hedefleyen bu programın belkemiğini oluşturan konulardan birisi de, toplumlarda engelliliğin tarihsel ve sosyokültürel boyutlarıydı. Türkiye’de engelliliğin tarihsel ve sosyo-kültürel boyutlarını ilgilendiren alanlarda farklı disiplinler tarafından yapılmış bazı çalışmalara rastlanmaktadır. Bununla birlikte, engellilik çalışmalarıyla ilgilenen araştırmacılar için kaynak ihtiyacı açık bir şekilde eksikliği hissedilen bir konudur. Engellilik Tarihi Yazıları bu amaçla yola çıkmış bir çalışmanın ürünüdür. 2018 Kasım ayında İstanbul’da gerçekleştirilen Engellilik Araştırmaları Konferansı’nın teması Türkiye’de engelliliğin tarihsel, kurumsal, hukuksal ve sosyo-kültürel açıdan incelenmesi hedef alınarak, Dünden Bugüne Engellilik olarak belirlenmişti. Bu konferansta düzenlenen çeşitli panellerde Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’ndan Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’ne uzanan geniş bir tarihsel süreç içinde eğitim, istihdam, sosyal yaşam, edebiyat, din gibi alanlarda engellilik konusunda araştırma sonuçları ve bildiriler sunuldu. Ayrıca, Türkiye’de fiziksel tıp ve rehabilitasyonun, özel eğitimin, engellilikle ilgili politikaları oluşturan ve yürüten kurumların tarihsel süreçleri, ilgili konuların uzmanları olan öğretim üyeleri ve bürokratlar tarafından aktarıldı. Engelli hakları ve savunuculuk konusunda sivil toplumdaki hareketlilik 2000 yılı öncesi ve sonrasında faaliyet gösteren önemli sivil toplum örgütü temsilcilerinin yer aldığı panellerde tartışıldı. Bu konferansta sunulan araştırmalardan bazıları ve konferansta sunulmamış olmakla birlikte konuya doğrudan katkı sunabilecek diğer araştırmalar Engellilik Tarihi Yazıları’nda bir araya getirildi. Böylelikle, Türkiye’de henüz yeni gelişmekte olan engellilik tarihi çalışmaları alanında ilk safhada izlenen yaklaşımları ve yapılan araştırmaları görmeyi mümkün kılan ilk derlemenin araştırmacılara sunulması hedeflendi.

The publication deals with the topic of measuring metacognition, with special emphasis on a specific group of intellectually gifted children. It briefly presents the construct of metacognition itself, its relation to intellectual giftedness, together with a taxonomy of metacognitive phenomena. Next, the most important methods developed to assess metacognition are discussed and critically appraised. The monography covers both the methods, in which the data are registered during the execution of the stimulus task (on-line methods), and the methods, where the data are recorded with some time lag (off-line methods). The most extensive part of the publication is devoted to the topic of various measures, used to express the level of metacognitive monitoring.

Ensuring satisfactory quality of life will bring about decent socio-economic conditions, such as in the conceptualization of decent work. Newly improved conditions will also bring higher quality, and policymakers and decision-makers at the institutional level have great responsibilities in this context. This book addresses quality of life and its related issues from an interdisciplinary perspective and discusses them at a conceptual and theoretical level. The book includes classifying the quality of life indicators by considering their individual, social, economic, and organizational context. The application section examines the quality of life of international students, a fragile population group who’ve experienced various disadvantages during the COVID-19 global health crisis. As a matter of fact, each international student provides human capital at the global level, and serves to construct an incorruptible and inexhaustible value in shaping a future that concerns all of humanity.     Description: Title in English: Physical activity as an effective means of non-pharmacological care in oncology. Much of the existing research confirms the assumption that regular physical activity can play a crucial role in nonpharmacological therapy and quality of life management in cancer survivors. The treatment of oncological diseases itself brings about numerous undesirable side effects, such as cardiotoxicity, anxiety, depression, sarcopenia, polyneuropathy, cancer fatigue and sleep disorders. Regular physical activity is associated with significant benefits for health including a lower risk of developing certain types of tumours and elimination of the accompanying undesirable effects of oncological treatment. A number of epidemiological studies found a correlation between regular physical activity and lower mortality linked to oncological diseases. The minimal amount of the activity needed to gain this benefit has not been established, however, the recommendations of ACSM indicate that at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity are needed per week. Physical exercise as nonpharmacological treatment is a domain of cancer survivors therapy whose aim is to incorporate targeted controlled exercise programmes into the overall treatment plan of the patients. Exercise programmes can be performed both in the duration of the illness as well as in the period prior to the treatment or in the course of adjuvant antitumour treatment (including chemotherapy) and in survivors. When prescribing physical activity it is necessary to take current health condition of the patient into account including their comorbidities, age or the level of physical fitness. If controlled physical activity is to become an indispensable part of oncological treatment it will be necessary to prove the therapy is safe and cost-effective.

    Description: Nothing exceptional happened in front of the youth association building in Kalajoki on 9 September 1953. There was a minor confrontation between regional police forces and local youth, but hundreds of similar events happened in small municipalities across Finland. The event took about ten minutes, nobody was seriously hurt, and collective feelings quickly calmed down. However, after extensive investigations, the regional prosecutor thought otherwise and prosecuted half a dozen local men for rebellion against the state in January 1954. The district court agreed. The municipality was shocked, and the Finnish society was taken by surprise. The case ended up in Supreme Court. This book analyses why and how the last rebellion in the history of Finland occurred in a tiny municipality on the west coast of Finland. The analysis is based on historical microsociology that integrates the insights of microhistory and microsociology into event structure analysis and collective memory studies.

    Description: Matti Kurikka (1863–1915) is a multi-dimensional and controversial character in Finnish history. He was a playwright, a journalist, a socialist, and a theosophist, as well as a speaker for sexual emancipation and women's rights. Kurikka was born in Ingria, and his activities spanned not only Finland, but also Australia and North America, in both of which he led utopian communities. This biographical study explores Kurikka as a literary and political figure and a builder of utopias, whose life opens fascinating views on the societal and cultural currents of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The book critically re-evaluates earlier research on Kurikka and highlights forgotten phases of his life by using new source materials found in three continents. The sources include digitized newspapers and periodicals, Kurikka's plays and non-fictional books, oral history, and political cartoons.

    Description: Diplomalar eğitim tarihi açısından önemli belgelerdir. Onları veren okullar, okutulan dersler ve giderek o dersleri okutan hocalar hakkında ilginç bilgiler verirler. Yükseköğretim tarihi ile ilgilenmeye başladıktan sonra birer belge niteliği taşıyan çeşitli alanlardaki diplomaların kendilerini ve kopyalarını toplamaya başladım ve zaman içinde bir diploma koleksiyonu ortaya çıktı. Bunlara öğrenci kimlik ve belgeleri de eklendi. On yıl önce bunlardan bir sergi açma gündeme geldiyse de çeşitli nedenlerle gerçekleşemedi ve hazırladığım sergi kataloğu da bir taslak halinde kaldı. Yakın dönemde bu projeye eski bir mensubu olduğum İstanbul Üniversitesi tarafından sahip çıkıldı. Bu kitap İstanbul Üniversitesi Rektörlüğü tarafından düzenlenmesi planlanan “Osmanlı’dan Cumhuriyet’e Yükseköğrenim Diploma ve Belgeleri” adlı serginin genişletilmiş kataloğudur. Sergi özel koleksiyonumda bulunan diploma ve belgelerin seçilmiş bir bölümünü içerecektir. Kitapta ise koleksiyonumda bulunan tüm diploma ve belgelere yer verildiği gibi belirli bir alan veya okul için kronolojik açıdan boşluk olan yerlerde sürekliliği sağlamak amacıyla çeşitli kaynaklardan alınan bazı diploma ve belgeler de verilmiştir. Ayrıca, diploma ve belgelerin yanına ilginç bazı fotoğraflflar da eklenmiştir. Böylece diplomalar üzerinden Türkiye’deki yükseköğretimin tarihinin ana hatları da verilmeye çalışılmıştır, Diplomalar büyük bir çaba gösterip emek harcayarak onları elde etmiş olan sahipleri açısından hem manen ve hem de kendilerine bir iş sağlaması bakımından maddeten büyük değer taşır ve korunur. Ancak, piyasada çok sayıda eski diplomanın satılır olması ailelerdeki aidiyet duygusunun genellikle zayıf olmasından dolayı kişilerin ölümünden sonra çocuklarının anne veya babalarının diplomalarını evde koyacak bir yer bulamamalarından olsa gerek eskiciye satmalarından kaynaklanmaktadır. Kitapta bulunan ve kaynak gösterilmemiş olan tüm diploma, belge ve fotoğraflflar özel koleksiyonumdadır. Elli yıllık geçmişi olan ve artık tarihsellik kazanmış bulunan kendi diploma ve bazı belgelerimi de kitaba ekledim. Burada sunulan diplomaların ve belgelerin bir bölümü daha önce yaptığım çeşitli yayınlarda yayınlanmış olmakla birlikte önemli bir bölümü ilk kez yayınlanmaktadır. Kitap düzenlenirken diploma ve belgeler tıp ve sağlık bilimleri, sosyal bilimler, fen bilimleri ve mühendislik olmak üzere kendi içlerinde alt bölümlere ayrılan dört ana grup altında toplanmıştır. Her bölümün başında o okulun veya kurumun geçmişine ilişkin çok kısa bir bilgi verilmiştir. Aynı kökten gelen farklı okul ve kurumlar için verilen bilgilerde ister istemez bazı küçük tekrarlar da olmuştur. Bazı çok önemli kişi veya olaylar hakkında da kısa açıklamalar yapılmıştır. Kitabın son kısmında doğrudan yükseköğrenim ile ilişkili olmamakla birlikte eğitim tarihimiz açısından önem taşıyan bazı diploma ve belgelere de yer verilmiştir. Ayrıca, kitaba Türkiye’deki yükseköğretimin toplu bir kronolojisi de eklenmiştir. Bazı okullar ve dönemler için diploma ve belge bulmak son derece güçtür. Örneğin, İnâs Darülfünunu’nun bu güne kadar bilinen iki diploması vardır. Bu güne kadar Darülfünun-ı Şâhâne’den 1908 öncesinde verilmiş Ulûm-ı Âliye-i Diniye Şubesi’ne ilişkin bir diploma dışında başka bir diplomaya rastlanmamıştır. Burada sunulan tıp, sosyal ve fen bilimleri alanlarındaki diploma ve belgelerin çok büyük bir çoğunluğu doğal olarak İstanbul Üniversitesi’nin geçmişine ilişkindir.

    Description: Finnish psychiatric practice has been heavily based on institutionalization, and mental hospitals have played important cultural and historical roles in Finland. Our multidisciplinary research focuses on the bodily, spatial, affective, and multisensory aspects of the memories of patients, relatives, staff, and their children. The memories were collected and archived in the Finnish Literature Society in 2014–2015. These 92 written pieces cover the period from the 1930s to the 2010s. They reflect significant changes in Finnish psychiatry and provide crucial insights into the various meanings of mental hospitals in people’s lives, and the social and cultural forces that shape attitudes to and ideas about mental health problems, psychiatric care, and service users today. Drawing on our backgrounds in history, artistic research, and visual, cultural and literary studies, we provide new ways of reading and interpreting the memories and experiences in psychiatry. The study discusses memory, mental hospitals as lived spaces, the history of Finnish psychiatry and the relation between the memories of the different groups of writers. The chapters approach memories from the perspectives of affects and atmospheres, violence and abuse, everyday life at the hospital in the 1930s, feelings of fear and safety in the memories of the children of the staff, and the historically and culturally contingent tensions between hospitals and homes.

    Description: 2014 yılında yaz başında (09 Haziran) yaptığımız toplantıya dayanıyor bu kitabın hikâyesi. Toplantıda İstanbul Üniversitesi’nde gönüllülüğü nasıl yaygınlaştıracağımızı tartışmıştık. Hayata geçirebileceğimiz çeşitli uygulamalardan söz etmiş, ancak ne yaparsak yapalım uygulamaların araştırmaya dayanması gerektiğinin altını çizmiştik. Böylelikle Sosyoloji Araştırma Merkezi bünyesinde gerçekleştirdiğimiz “İstanbul Üniversitesi Öğrencilerinin Gönüllülük Algıları, Eğilimleri ve Deneyimleri” araştırması ortaya çıktı. Süreç içerisinde farklı bileşenler eklediğimiz bu araştırma, sonrasında “Üniversitede Gönüllü Olmak” başlığıyla kitaba dönüştü. Ayrıca bu araştırmadan hareketle öğrencilerin gönüllülük konusundaki farkındalıklarını artırmak amacıyla Gönüllü Akademisi (seminer, atölye, film okuması, STK ziyareti vb. etkinliklerden oluşan 10 haftalık bir program) ve Gönüllü Ol İstanbul Platformu (gönüllü olmak isteyenlerle gönüllü arayan STK’ları, projeleri, kampanyaları buluşturmak, eşleştirmek için kurulan İstanbul Üniversitesi öğrencilerine yönelik platform) hayata geçirildi. Elbette araştırma ve uygulamaların tamamı öğrenci arkadaşlarımızla ve hepimizin gönüllü çalışmalarıyla ilerledi. En başından itibaren gönüllülük üzerine yapılan çalışmaların doğasını yitirmemesine özen göstermeye -ne kadar başarabildik bilmiyoruz elbette- gayret ettik. Gerek Gönüllü Akademisine gerekse düzenlediğimiz gönüllülük çalışmalarına 1000’den fazla öğrenci dahil oldu. Bunun yanı sıra Sosyoloji Bölümü bünyesinde Sivil Toplum ve Gönüllülük dersi açıldı ve öğrencilerin ilgi gösterdiği önemli seçmeli derslerden biri hâline geldi. Bunu yine Sosyoloji Bölümü bünyesinde açılan STK ve Sosyal Sorumluluk Yönetimi Tezsiz Yüksek Lisans programı takip etti. Bu program STK alanındaki öncü ve deneyimli isimlerin verdiği dersler üzerine temellendirildi. Daha çok sektörde çalışan profesyonellerin, STK alanında çalışmak isteyenlerin ve gönüllülerin katıldığı bir program olarak hâlen sürdürmekteyiz. Bununla birlikte gönüllülük, STK’lar ve ilgili konularda paneller ve çalıştaylar düzenledik. Son olarak Gençlik ve Spor Bakanlığı için Türkiye Gönüllülük Araştırmasını gerçekleştirdik. Bu çerçevede İstanbul Üniversitesi Edebiyat Fakültesi Sosyoloji Bölümü olarak her düzeyde gönüllülük ve STK’lar alanında çalışma yapmaya, öğrenciler arasında gönüllülüğü yaygınlaştırmaya, STK alanında bilgi ve deneyim paylaşımını sağlamaya ve bu alanda ilişki ve işbirliğini geliştirmeye devam ediyoruz. Bu kitabın hazırlayıcı adımlarından biri ise 18 Nisan 2018’de İstanbul Üniversitesi’nde düzenlediğimiz “Üniversitelerde Gönüllülük Dersi Müfredat Çalıştayı”dır. Akademisyenlerin, STK profesyonellerinin, gönüllülerin, öğrenci kulüplerinden temsilcilerin vb. katıldığı bu çalıştayda üniversitelerde gönüllülük müfredatını katılımcı bir perspektifle ele aldık. Bu çalıştayın katılımcılarının fikirleri elinizdeki çalışmanın biçimlenmesinde önemli bir rol oynadı. Çalıştay raporu hazırlandı, ancak raporu yayımlayamadık. Müfredat çalıştayından sonra üniversitelerde seçmeli ders fikri ve bu ders için hazırlanacak materyaller konusunda yeni adımlar planladık. Ancak farklı gündemler nedeniyle o dönem gerçekleştiremediğimiz bu çalışmaya Yükseköğretim Kurulu Başkanlığının 2020 Nisan ayında üniversitelerde “Gönüllülük Çalışmaları” dersinin seçmeli olarak açılmasına yönelik aldığı kararla yeniden döndük ve kitap çalışmalarımızı hızlandırdık. Bu çalışmanın kapsayıcı ve kuşatıcı olmasına özen göstermemiz ve farklı konuları ele alma arzumuz nedeniyle süreç biraz uzadı, ancak nihayet tamamlandı ve artık karşınızdayız. “Gönüllülük ve Gönüllülerle Birlikte Çalışmak” gönüllülüğü farklı boyutlarıyla ele alarak günümüzde gönüllülükle ilgili çok sayıdaki bağlamı ve kavramı okuyucuya sunma hedefini taşıyor. Ancak her bir bölümün kendi içinde belirdiği haliyle gönüllülüğü farklılaştıran boyutları göz ardı etmiyor. Günümüzde gönüllülüğün ancak tüm boyutları ile ele alındığı takdirde tarihsel ve toplumsal bağlamla ilişki kurmanın mümkün olduğunu iddia ediyor bu kitap. Kitapta birçok başlık yalnız STK yöneticilerine hitap ediyor gibi görünmekle birlikte burada asıl hedef gönüllülük yapacak kişileri bilgilendirmek, onları gönüllülük faaliyetlerine hazır hale getirmek, STK yöneticilerinin farkındalığını sağlamak ve gönüllülerin gelecekte hayata geçirecekleri kendi gönüllülük girişimlerini daha nitelikli hâle getirmelerine katkıda bulunmaktır. Kitap okuyuculara gönüllülüğün farklı boyutlarını tanıma imkânı sunmaktadır. Kitabın iki boyutu olduğu söylenebilir: Birincisi gönüllülük deneyimi sınırlı olan ya da hiç gönüllü olmamış kişilere gönüllülüğün farklı boyutlarını göstermektir. İkincisi ise kişilerin gönüllülük çalışmaları organize etmeleri, bu yönde inisiyatif almaları durumunda gönüllülerle beraber nasıl çalışabilecekleri konusunda onlara yeni araçlar sağlamaktır. Evrensel boyutları olsa da gönüllülük toplumların kültürel, tarihi, dini, siyasi, ekonomik ve coğrafi birikimine bağlı olarak ortaya çıkar. Bu nedenle kitapta son 50 yıldır yaşanan yeni gelişmelere ve eğilimlere yer verirken Türkiye’nin kendine özgü bir gönüllülük anlayışına ve kültürüne sahip olduğunu unutmadan ilerlemeye çalışıyoruz. Türkiye’nin gönüllülük alanındaki köklü ve zengin birikiminin toplumun inanç ve yaşama kültürüne yaslandığını, gönüllülüğün karşılıksız bir dayanışmayı içerdiğini sıklıkla vurguluyoruz. Diğer taraftan gönüllülüğün farklı boyutlarını tanıtarak eleştirel bir perspektiften tartışmayı, bu tartışmayı derinleştirmeyi ve nitelikli hâle getirmeyi, yeni araştırma ve uygulama odaklarını göstermeyi amaçlıyoruz. Kitabın içerik tasarımında gönüllülük sahasının öncelikli konularına yer vermeyi amaç edindik. Bölümlerin bazıları kuramsal tartışmalara ve yaklaşımlara odaklanırken bir kısmı gönüllülüğün uygulama boyutuyla ilişkilidir. Ayrıca alandaki yeni eğilimlere ve tartışmalı konulara da kitapta bölüm düzeyinde yer verdik. Gönüllülüğün modern dönemde değişen doğasını ve 1970’li yıllar sonrasında gelişen neoliberal bağlamı ihmal etmeden ama güncel gelişmeleri de görmezden gelmeden gönüllülükle ilişkili temel konuları ele almaya çalıştık. Bu yaklaşım tanıyarak tartışmayı ve eleştirel bir perspektif geliştirmeyi içermektedir. Bu nedenle kitapta birbirleriyle çelişkili gibi duran, farklı perspektiflere sahip kavramlara ve yaklaşımlara yer verilmesi alanı tanıtmanın ve eleştirel bir perspektif geliştirmenin öncelikli bir hedef olmasıyla ilgilidir. Giriş dahil on altı farklı bölümden farklı bölümden oluşan kitapta yazarlar arasında ortak bir dil oluşturmaya çalışırken her bir yazarın ve konunun gerektirdiği perspektifi korumaya özen gösterdik. Her bölümün kendi içerisinde farklı konumlanma ve değerlendirmeler ihtiva etmesine imkân tanıdık. Bu nedenle kitabı okurken hem bir bütün hem de birbirinden farklı parçalarla karşı karşıya olduğunuzu hatırdan çıkarmamanızı diliyoruz. Yazarların gönüllülüğe bakışı, gönüllülüğü kavrama biçimleri, alandaki konumlanmaları, uygulama tercihleri vb. hususların bir zenginlik olduğunu düşünüyoruz. Kitabın yayımlanmasından sonra okuyuculardan gelecek geri dönüşler ve yazarların kendi aralarında yapacakları tartışmalar neticesinde hem kitabın mevcut halinin geliştirilmesi mümkün olacak hem de yeni yazarlar ve bölümlerin eklenmesiyle eser genişleyerek okuyucusuna yeni perspektifler sunmaya devam edecektir.

    Description: Title in English: Sources and Distribution of Selected High and Late Medieval Pottery Products. The publication is focused on late medieval pottery products with higher aesthetical effect. The key group is represented by stove tiles, where the unifying elements of relief decoration helped to define series of motifs for stoves with specific iconographic concept, which were found in various locations. The same approach can be also used with small ceramic sculptures, aquamaniles and relief-decorated floor tiles, even though the achieved information value in these cases is much lower. Micropetrographic, XRF and other analyses helped to identify the production centres and the distribution model of these ceramic groups. 3D documentation enabled a detailed comparison of differences between individual reliefs and specific traces of manufacturing procedures. Individual chapters contain active links to the source database of analysed items and to 3D models of selected specimens from reference collections.

    Description: Approximation of Turkish Law with European Union Law maintains its importance and actuality apart from the context of full membership goal as well. Global trade requires interplay between all world countries with regard to the development and formation of public and private law. Private law regulations in Continental Europe, that constitute models for Turkish law, have been developing under the influence of European Union Law. In any field of law, the authority of the European Union to intervene in national laws is limited to the competences provided by the Treaties. Therefore, acts of the European Union in the field of private law aims the improvement of the internal market and enhanced cooperation between the Member States both by harmonization of national laws and their implementation. Studies and proposals carried out by the European Union for the harmonization of laws should be/are closely followed by our country. Establishment of Customs Union between Turkey and European Union in 1995 with the 1/95 numbered Community Council Decision and initiation of accession negotiations in October 2005 have accelerated the harmonization process of Turkish law with the European Union law. In the heat of these events, it can be observed that the preamble of most of the main codifications and secondary regulations in the field of company law, banking and capital markets law, intellectual and commercial property law, competition law, consumer law and protection of personal data law; reflects the aim of approximation with European Union legislation. Turkey’s geographical location, parallelly the fact that majority of the states, which Turkey has economical, cultural and sociological relations with, are members of the European Union following the impact of European Union on the model laws of Turkish laws, including Swiss law which keep tab on European Union law, necessitates the harmonization of European Union law to remain on Turkish lawyers’ agenda in the future as well. Hence, this Book Project has been prepared by the first documentation center acknowledged by European Union’s competent publishing and distribution bodies, Istanbul University Faculty of Law European Law Application and Research Center, with the object of providing a source for publications and conferences of Turkish lawyers who are keen to work in this field. This Project is an academic study and reflects the evaluation of the authors on harmonization of Turkish law with European Union law and their opinions for the methodology for an approximation of Turkish legislation. Although it is not either an official report or an action plan, it has been prepared with the view of providing a reference to public authorities, especially Ministry of Foreign Affairs Directorate for European Union Affairs and European Union harmonization offices in other relevant ministries. The preparation phase of this Project includes determination of the subdisciplines of Turkish private law, in which harmonization with European Union law, has been taken in regard. The specification of a certain topic is left to the authors. As a matter of course, it was not possible for us to cover all the subdisciplines of private law likewise to examine the entire European Union acquis in the included fields. Our perspective is to provide an insight into European law, its comparison with European Union law and evaluation of alignment. With this regard, every contributor examined the regulation which includes the most general rules on that topic. Although the examined regulations have been enacted on the legal basis of the Treaties, the relevant articles have been explained under the “Remarks” title. In this way, with the exception of topics under “Competition Law” chapter, only the masthead of the acts of European Union organs are shown under the “Legislation” title. Besides, all the examined European Union legislation and their legal basis are shown in the European Union legislation list and index at the end of this book. Subdisciplines of private law to be studied has been designated taking into account several factors, such as the necessity of reevaluation and updating with the current acquis, despite the fact that Turkey’s remarkable progress in the past according to the European Commission country reports; Ministry of European Union’s Action Plan covering the years of 2016-2019; 11th development plan of Turkish Presidency. Thus, the Project touches on Company Law, Financial Services, Consumer and Health Protection, Intellectual Property chapters which have been opened for negotiations, and Competition Policy chapter that has not yet been opened for negotiation alongside the Protection Of Personal Data which is not itself a negotiation chapter but concerns several chapters of negotiation. Regulations in the aforementioned fields have been analyzed under the Company Law, Banking and Capital Markets Law, Intellectual and Commercial Property Law, Competition Law, Consumer Law and Protection of Personal Data Law main titles. Within the scope of the Project, contributors were expected to prepare their work according to the following outline: I. Legislation A. European Union Legislation B. Turkish Legislation; II. Remarks A. European Union Law, B. Turkish Law; III. Assessments and Suggestions. By this means, the necessity of the readers to get conveniently informed solely on the European Union Law or Turkish law related to that subject is considered. Assessments and suggestions have been provided under a separate title with the view of improving on the perception of approximation with European Union which only focuses on the translation of legislation and relation of European Union law with Turkish law can be put forward in an integrated mindset. Under this title, the conclusions reached by evaluating Turkish law and European Union law have been placed in numerical order. In other respects, contributors were provided flexibility in terms of methodology to be used for their remarks and assessments and freedom to include the Turkish translation of the relevant European Union legislation and place article proposals for Turkish legislation. Editorial Board elaborated on determining the main subjects and, alongside the review of all studies with respect to the fundamental aim of this book, providing for systematical coherence thereof.

    Description: Türk hukukunun Avrupa Birliği hukukuna uyumunun sağlanması, tam üyelik hedefi bağlamında ve bunun dışında ülkemizde önemini ve güncelliğini koruyan bir meseledir. Küresel ticaret, yalnızca ülkemiz değil bütün dünya ülkelerinde kamu ve özel hukukun gelişim ve şekillenmesinde etkileşim içerisinde olmayı gerektirmektedir. Türk hukukunda özel hukuk alanında ağırlıkla takip edilen mehaz hukuk düzenlemeleri ise Avrupa Birliği’nin etkisi altında gelişmektedir. Avrupa Birliği organlarının herhangi bir hukuk alanında düzenleme yapma yetkisi kurucu anlaşmalarla üye devletlerin Birliğe bırakmış olduğu yetkiler ile sınırlıdır. Özel hukuk alanındaki Avrupa Birliği tasarrufları, temel olarak iç pazarın geliştirilmesi/ güçlendirilmesi ve tüm üye devletlerin hukuk düzenlemeleri ile uygulamalarının uyumlaştırılması hedefine yönelir. Bu alanda Avrupa Birliği tarafından yürütülen iç hukukların yakınlaştırılmasına yönelik çalışmalar ve tasarruflar ülkemizce yakından takip edilmektedir/edilmelidir. 1/95 sayılı Ortaklık Konseyi Kararı ile 1995 yılında Gümrük Birliği’nin tesisi ve Ekim 2005’te katılım müzakerelerinin açılması Avrupa Birliği mevzuatıyla uyum sürecine ivme katan gelişmelerdendir. Bu gelişmelerin etkisinde ülkemizde şirketler hukuku, bankacılık ve sermaye piyasası hukuku, fikrî ve sınai mülkiyet hukuku, rekabet hukuku, tüketici hukuku ve kişisel verilerin korunması hukuku alanlarında çıkarılan kanunların ve ikincil mevzuatın genel gerekçelerine Avrupa Birliği mevzuatıyla uyum amacının aksettirildiği görülmektedir. İşbu Kitap projesi 1973 yılında kurulan ve Avrupa Birliği’nin yetkili yayın ve dağıtım kuruluşlarınca tanınan Türkiye’deki ilk dokümantasyon merkezi olan İstanbul Üniversitesi Hukuk Fakültesi Avrupa Hukuku Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezi tarafından, Türk hukukçularının bu alanda yapacağı bilimsel eserlere ve toplantılara kaynaklık etme gayesiyle hazırlanmıştır. Proje, akademik çalışma niteliğindedir ve yazarların Türk ve Avrupa Birliği hukukunun uyumuna ilişkin güncel değerlendirmeleri ile mevzuat yakınlaştırmasının ne şekilde yapılabileceği hakkında görüşlerini içermektedir. Çalışmanın başta Dışişleri Bakanlığı Avrupa Birliği Başkanlığı ve diğer ilgili Bakanlıklar nezdinde bulunan Avrupa Birliği uyum komisyonları olmak üzere, kamu mercileri tarafından hazırlanan rapor veya ulusal program/eylem planlarının hayata geçirilmesine yardımcı olması amaçlanmaktadır. Hazırlık sürecinde öncelikle hukukumuzda Avrupa Birliği hukukuyla uyumun gözetildiği özel hukukun alt disiplinleri belirlenmiş, bu alanlarda ele alınacak konunun tercihi proje katılımcılarına bırakılmıştır. Proje, özel hukukun tüm alt disiplinlerini kapsamadığı gibi belirlenen alanlara yönelik tüm Avrupa Birliği müktesebatının da ele alınmadığının altı çizilmelidir. Her bir katılımcı, belirlediği konu başlığı altında konuyu en kapsamlı şekilde ele alan düzenlemeleri incelemektedir. İncelenen düzenlemelerin tamamı Avrupa Birliği Kurucu Antlaşmalarında iç pazarın işleyişine yönelik hükümlere dayanmaktaysa da bu hükümlere, incelenen mevzuatın gösterildiği künyeler yerine Avrupa Birliği hukukuna yönelik açıklamalar başlıkları altında yer verilmektedir. Böylelikle rekabet hukuku bölümü altındaki konu başlıkları hariç, Avrupa Birliği mevzuatı başlığı altında yalnızca Avrupa Birliği organları tarafından çıkarılan tasarrufların künyeleri gösterilmektedir. Bunun yanında incelenen tüm AB mevzuatının Avrupa Birliği Kurucu Antlaşmalarındaki dayanaklarının da gösterildiği listesi kitabın sonunda okuyucuların istifadesine sunulmaktadır. Alt disiplinler, Türkiye’nin belirli bir yol kat ettiği fakat güncel Avrupa Birliği mevzuatı ışığında uyumunun yeniden değerlendirilmesi ihtiyacının bulunduğu alanları kapsayacak şekilde Avrupa Komisyonu Türkiye Ülke Raporları ve 2016- 2019 yıllarını kapsayan Avrupa Birliği Bakanlığı tarafından hazırlanan Avrupa Birliği’ne Katılım İçin Ulusal Eylem Planı ve Cumhurbaşkanlığı 11. Kalkınma Planı gözetilerek belirlenmiştir. Bu nedenle çalışma, müzakerelere açılmış bulunan Şirketler Hukuku, Mali Hizmetler, Tüketicinin ve Sağlığın Korunması, Fikrî Mülkiyet Hukuku ve henüz müzakereye açılmamış bulunan Rekabet Politikası fasılları ile müzakereye açılmış ve açılmamış pek çok fasılda atıfta bulunulan kişisel verilerin korunması alanlarına temas etmektedir. Mezkûr alanlarla ilgili düzenlemeler Şirketler Hukuku, Bankacılık ve Sermaye Piyasası Hukuku, Fikrî ve Sınai Mülkiyet Hukuku, Rekabet Hukuku, Tüketici Hukuku ve Kişisel Verilerin Korunması Hukuku ana başlıkları altında incelenmektedir. Proje kapsamında katılımcılardan çalışmalarını I. Mevzuat A. Avrupa Birliği Hukuku B. Türk Hukuku; II. Açıklamalar A. Avrupa Birliği Hukuku B. Türk Hukuku, III. Değerlendirme ve Öneriler planını takip ederek hazırlamaları beklenmiştir. Bu sayede her bir konuyla alakalı yalnızca Avrupa Birliği hukuku veya yalnızca Türk hukuku hakkında bilgi edinmek isteyen okuyucuların da çalışmadan rahatça istifade edilebilmesi gözetilmiştir. Değerlendirme ve önerilerin ayrı bir başlık altında sıralanmasıyla, Avrupa Birliği mevzuatıyla uyum anlayışının Avrupa Birliği mevzuatının tercüme edilmesinin ötesinde ve hukukumuzla ilişkisinin bütüncül bir yaklaşım ile ele alınarak ortaya konulması hedeflenmektedir. Bu başlık altında Türk hukuku ile Avrupa Birliği hukuku birlikte değerlendirilerek varılan sonuçlara numara sırası ile yer verilmiştir. Bununla birlikte katılımcılara değerlendirmelerinde izleyecekleri yol konusunda esneklik sağlanmış, katılımcılar Avrupa Birliği mevzuatının çevirisini çalışmalarına ekleme, madde önerisinde bulunma konularında serbest bırakılmıştır. Editörler Kurulu, bu noktada ana konu başlıklarının belirlenmesi ve tüm çalışmaların işbu Kitabın yöneldiği temel amaç doğrultusunda incelenmesi yanında, bunlar arasında sistematik bir ahengin sağlanmasına da özen göstermiştir.

    Description: Finnish Lapland is a historical borderland of Finnish and Sámi cultures. Such a region offers various social-political identifications for people to choose: people may see it possible to identify as Finnish, Laplanders, Lappish or Sámi, for instance. However, the choices have social and political limits, and some identifications are more contested than others. The book examines the processes of identifications in the middle parts of Lapland, just south of the region defined as Sámi homeland in Finland. While the study reveals differences and nuances in people’s thinking, it also shows that there is a recognizable sense of shared cultural specifity around the region. Lapland is conceptualized as an extraordinary place with unusual nature and history, characterized by particular livelihoods (such as reindeer herding) and lively cultural interaction. The book concludes that while Lapland is extraordinary as a historical dwelling region of indigenous Sámi, it may be politically significant to recognize it as a unique borderland of cultures with features of its own.

    Description: Title in English: Czech Problem Drama of the 1960s. In his monograph Czech Problem Drama of the 1960s, David Kroča (b. 1973), a literary scholar and educator at Masaryk University, focuses on a period that can in many respects be viewed as a turning point in the poetics of the original Czech drama. From the varied production of drama in the 1960s, which was rich in genre, he chose to research a specific stream called problem drama in which an ordinary dramatic conflict is substituted with an escalated confrontation of different opinions related to a particular problem. The introductory theoretical and context chapters consider the developmental tendencies in Czech drama as well as some important foreign resources. The core of the work consists of analytical and interpretative chapters which deal with the analysis of those dramas where the authors tackle serious existential problems and question social and moral responsibility.

    Description: A city forms the core of all political and philosophical projects. On one hand, a city is a place of human aspirations and pursuits; on the other, it represents a space of tension and anxiety. This dual and often paradoxical character of the city compels philosophers to constantly cogitate its current status. Philosophy is often defined as the child of the city (polis); it is thus the product of urban life. As a medium of social space and political unity, the city has become a stipulation for philosophical activity. In this sense, philosophy is not deprived of its conditions; alternatively, it is an activity that reveals itself within its prerequisite environment. The book reveals varied philosophical reflections on the city, focusing primarily on the urban crisis and debates on rights to the city. The book also attends to the city-philosophy connection in terms of language, borders, art, architecture, and meta-philosophy. The body of research on the city cannot be reduced to the sum of discourses of technical experts. Beyond this boundary, the city stands in its entirety at the heart of debates on equality, freedom, and liberation, surpassing all types of pragmatic discussion. Max Weber cites the proverb, “Stadtluft macht frei” (the urban air frees), serving as a reminder that a city is also a place of domination and freedom. In this respect, the city is the arena of all types of conflict.

    Description: This book presents an original historical source, entitled “An erudite and true narration of some changes that recently took place in the Grand Duchy of Moscow,” written by the Swedish ambassador to the court in Moscow and first printed in Stockholm in 1608. In his diplomatic report, the author vividly describes the political crisis in the Moscow empire, the tragic events of the Time of Troubles and the plots surrounding the successorship to the tsarist throne which he witnessed. He also depicts events that preceded these events, interpreting them in accordance with the territorial and confessional integrity of the Swedish Kingdom. In addition to the translation of the Swedish original into Czech, the book also contains a philological and historiographical essay, which sets the author’s work into the context of Swedish literature and political context at the turn of the 16th century. Thanks to its wide range of interpretive possibilities, the text is suitable material for students of philological and historical disciplines.

Popisuje také předcházející události, jež interpretuje v souladu s územní i konfesní politikou Švédského království. Kniha vedle překladu švédského originálu do češtiny obsahuje též doprovodnou filologickou a historiografickou studii, zasazující autorovo dílo do kontextu švédské literatury i politických souvislostí na přelomu 16. a 17. století. Díky širokým interpretačním možnostem představuje vhodný materiál pro studium filologických i historických oborů.

    Description: Understanding civilized society encompasses the understanding of cities given that the urban environment, which is a natural reflection of settled life, shapes the civilization of a society. Moreover, cities enriched with the effects of trading functions as centers of modernization. At present, cities are exposed to the influence of different dynamics, which are a result of modern life. This influence plays an important role in the shaping of city life and identity. This study, which is entitled Cities in History with Respect to Humans and Spaces, highlights the transformation of cities throughout history and aims to examine the histories of important cities from the social, cultural, political, and economic perspectives. The study emerges as a result of a meticulous evaluation of original scientific writings in urban history and aims to contribute to research in this field. First, the paper presents an examination of the effect of football on urban identity followed by discussions on the tales of cities penned by Ottoman geographers, the transformation of cities previously dominated by wooden buildings and the impact of fires, the identity of cities under the influence of ideologies, the role of squares in the identification of cities, the role of foundations in shaping city identity, and the effects of asitane, dargah, and khanqah structures in the formation of the social identity of cities.

    Description: Medeni toplumu anlamak, şehirleri anlamaktan geçer. Zira toplumun medenileşmesi yerleşik hayat ve onun doğal bir yansıması olarak şehir ortamında şekillenir. Bunun yanı sıra ticaretin etkisiyle zenginleşen şehirler modernleşmenin merkezinde yer alırlar. Günümüzde ise şehirler modern hayatın getirdiği değişik dinamiklerin etkisine maruz kalmakta, söz konusu etki şehir hayatı ve kimliğinin şekillenmesinde giderek daha fazla pay sahibi olmaktadır. Şehirlerin tarih boyunca yaşadığı dönüşümü ele alan “İnsan ve Mekan Açısından Tarihte Şehir” adlı bu çalışma, önemli şehirlerin tarihlerini sosyal, kültürel, siyasi ve ekonomik yönleriyle incelemektedir. Şehir tarihi araştırmalarına katkı sağlamayı amaçlayan bu çalışma alanında özgün bilimsel yazıların titiz bir şekilde değerlendirilmesi sonucunda meydana gelmiştir. İlk yazı futbolun şehir kimliğine etkisini incelemektedir. Ardından sırasıyla; Osmanlı coğrafyacılarının kaleminden şehrin neler anlattığı, önceden ahşap yapıların ağırlıklı olduğu şehrin yangınların etkisiyle dönüşümü, ideolojilerin etkisinde kalan şehir kimliği, meydanların şehrin kimliğindeki yeri, şehir kimliğinin şekillenmesinde vakıfların oynadığı rol ve yine şehrin sosyal kimliğinin oluşumunda âsitâne, dergâh ve tekke yapılarının etkileri ele alınmaktadır.

    Description: Türkiye’de beşerî bilimler sahasının ilk ve en büyük kurumu olan İstanbul Üniversitesi Edebiyat Fakültesi, kuruluşunun 150. yıldönümü olan 2020 yılında bir dizi etkinlik gerçekleştirdi. Elinizdeki kitap da yaşanan pandemi süreci dolayısıyla çoğu dijital ortamda gerçekleştirilen bu etkinlikler manzumesine bir ek ve Fakültemizin kuruluşunun bu önemli yıldönümüne bir armağan olarak tasarlanıp yayımlanmıştır. 1916-1933 yılları arasında neşredilen, tabiatıyla Mayıs 1929’a kadar Arap harfli olarak çıkarılan Felsefe, İçtimaiyat, Tarih, Coğrafya, Edebiyat dergisi Dârülfünun Edebiyat Fakültesi Mecmuası, çoğu Dârülfünun’da müderrislik ya da müderris muavinliği yapan hocaların veya yabancı bilim insanlarının dil, edebiyat, tarih, sosyoloji, felsefe, psikoloji, coğrafya başta olmak üzere beşerî bilimlerin çeşitli alanlarında kaleme aldıkları makalelerin neşredildiği mühim bir akademik yayın organıdır. Toplam 8 cilt ve 49 sayı olarak çıkan mecmuanın ilk sayısı Mart 1332 (1916)’de, son sayısı Kânunusani (Ocak) 1933’te yayımlanır. “Başlangıçta düzenli olarak iki ayda bir neşredilen mecmuanın 1. cildinin 6. ve son sayısı Kânunusani 1332 (Ocak 1916) tarihlidir. Bu sayıdan iki ay sonra yayımlanan ve üzerinde “sene 2, Mart 1331 1917, sayı 7” ibaresi bulunan nüshadan sonra mecmuanın 1. serisinin yayımı Mart 1922 tarihine kadar durdurulmuştur. Bu tarihte çıkan 1. sayı ile ll. cilde ve 2. seriye başlandığından Mart 1333 / 1917’de yayımlanan ve 1. serinin son sayısı olan nüsha herhangi bir cilde dâhil edilememektedir.” Türkiye’nin seferberlik içerisinde ve savaşın tam ortasında bulunduğu 1916 yılının çetin şartları altında, biraz da iktidarda olan İttihat ve Terakki Fırkası’nın resmî ideolojisi olan Türkçülük cereyanı etkisiyle daha çok Türk tarihi, dili, edebiyatı, içtimaiyatı alanlarına ait öncü metinlerin neşredildiği, önemli meselelerin tartışıldığı makalelerle kendisini gösteren Mecmua, daha sonra İslâm felsefesine ağırlık vermeye başlar. Fırkanın Kâtib-i Umumîsi olan ve 1912-1918 arası, kültür, edebiyat, matbuat ve bilim faaliyetlerinin hemen hepsinin bir yerinde bulunan Ziya Gökalp’ın, bu Mecmuanın da fikir babası, en azından yönlendiricisi olduğu kolaylıkla ifade edilebilir. Bergstrasser, T. Lefevr, Ernest Chaput, Franz Babinger, Gustave Lanson gibi yabancı Türkolog ve filologların da pek çok makalesi de telif veya tercüme yoluyla Mecmua’da yerini bulur. Söz konusu yıllarda Osmanlı Devleti’nin Almanya İmparatorluğu ile sadece askerî ittifakı değil, ticarî, sınaî, ilmî alanlardaki işbirliği Dârülfünun, dolayısıyla Mecmuadaki Alman hocaların varlığını izaha kâfidir. Savaşın sonuna doğru yani 1917’de yayınına ara verilen ve Millî Mücadele’nin zaferle sonuçlanmasının hemen ardından neşrine devam edilen Mecmua, 1933 Üniversite Reformuna kadar yayınını sürdürecektir. Çok ciddî maddi sıkıntıların yaşandığı 1922 yılında, Mecmuanın yeniden hayata dönmesi, döndürülmesi bu yayın faaliyetine atfedilen önem hakkında çok fikir vericidir. Hakikaten Dârülfünun Edebiyat Fakültesi Mecmuası, Türkiye’de dil, edebiyat, dilbilimi, felsefe, sosyoloji, psikoloji, ilahiyat ve coğrafya gibi alanlarda ilk ilmî, ciddî, sistemli neşirlerin yapıldığı, sonraki yıllarda daima bir başvuru kaynağı olan bir yayın faaliyeti olmuştur. “Türkolojinin Babası” olarak anılan Ord. Prof. M. Fuad Köprülü’nün Türk dili, edebiyatı, tarihi, inanç sistemi gibi konularda yazmış olduğu makalelerin 11’nin evvela bu mecmuda yayımlanmış olduğunu belirtmek herhâlde kastımızı ifadeye yardımcı olacaktır. Sadece Köprülü’nün etütleri değil, bu mecmuada neşredilmiş araştırma, tenkit, tanıtma vs türlerindeki pek çok makale, bugünün nesillerinin istifadesi için farklı zamanlarda muhtelif alanlardaki akademisyenler tarafından yeni yazıya aktarılmıştır. Bununla beraber bu muazzam ilim hazinesindeki yazıların pek çoğu da araştırmacılardan aynı gayret ve hizmeti beklemektedir. Sosyal Bilimler alanında çalışanlar için Osmanlı Türkçesiyle yazılmış metinleri okumak, okuyabilmek bir ayrıcalık ve bu tür metinlerin yeni harflerle neşri onlar için bir ihtiyaç değilse de yine bu sahalara mensup olan ama formasyonu gereği ya da çeşitli sebeplerle eski yazı okuyamayan pek çok araştırmacı için bu ve benzeri mecmua ve kitapların günümüz alfabesiyle neşri bir zarurettir. Elinizdeki kitap işte bu tür bir endişeden doğmuş ve böylesi bir ihtiyacı kısmen de olsa gidermek maksadıyla neşre hazırlanmıştır. “Kısmen” diyoruz zira ideal olan, elbette Mecmuadaki yazıların tümünün Latin alfabesiyle yayımlanması ve dilimizi, edebiyatımızı, tarihimizi, coğrafyamızı, düşünce ve inanç sistemimizi kendisine mesele edinen herkesin istifadesine sunulmasıdır. Biz, Edebiyat Fakültesi’nin kuruluşunun 150. yıldönümüne armağan olarak düşündüğümüz bu kitaba, görsellerle zenginleştirilmiş 16 adet yazıyı alabildik. Kitapta hangi yazıya, niçin yer verildiği konusuna gelince: 49 sayıda toplam 244 makalenin neşredildiği4 Dârülfünun Edebiyat Fakültesi Mecmuası’nda çıkmış bütün makaleler önemli ve değerlidir. Dolayısıyla sınırlı sayıda metne yer verilebilecek bu kitapta hangi yazının yer alacağına karar vermek kolay olmamıştır. Bununla beraber seçimi kolaylaştıracak bazı ölçütlerimiz vardı. Şöyle ki: Mecmua, Dârülfünun Edebiyat Şubesi’ne ait olduğu için, Şubenin değişik disiplinlerinde hocalığı bulunan isimlere öncelik verildi. Ayrıca Mecmuada çok sayıda ecnebi bilim insanının telif veya tercüme yazısının bulunması, belli oranda bu yazarlara da yer vermeyi gerektiriyordu. Seçimi kolaylaştıran diğer bir unsur ise Mecmuada neşredilen makalelerin alanlara göre sayısı ve oranıydı. Bu anlamda Türk Dili, Doğu Dilleri, Batı Dilleri, dilbilimi, tarih, edebiyat, bilim tarihi, İslâm felsefesi, estetik, coğrafya, sosyoloji, psikoloji gibi disiplinlere bu kitapta mutlaka yer ayrılmalıydı. Öyle de oldu. Kitaptaki yazıların daha önce yeni harflerle yayımlanmamış olanlardan seçilmesi, zaten mesainin başında bir ilke olarak benimsenmişti. Bununla beraber, daha önce neşredilmiş olmak, bir yazının kitaba girmesine mâni de olmadı. Zira asıl gaye, Mecmuanın içerik bakımından zenginliğini, öncülüğünü, dolayısıyla kıymetini aksettirmek ve günümüze taşımaktı. Kitaptaki bazı yazılar, doğrudan editörlerin tercihi doğrultusunda belirlendi. Bazı yazılar da alanın uzmanları ya da yazıları yeni harflere aktaran hocalarımızın, meslektaşlarımızın tercih ve tespitine bırakıldı. Bu 16 yazının ikisinin Farâbî ile ilgili olması yani M. Şemseddin Günaltay’ın Farabî ile ilgili birbirini takip eden iki yazısının kitaba derç edilmesi de UNESCO’nun 2020 yılını Farâbî yılı olarak belirlemesiyle ilgilidir ve bu büyük Türk-İslâm filozofunun hatırasını yâda vesile olması maksadıyladır. Görüleceği gibi kitapta yer alan bu 16 yazının tamamı, hâlihazırda Edebiyat Fakültesi’nin değişik programlarında görev yapan akademisyenler tarafından Latin harflerine aktarılmıştır.     Description: Narrative After Postmodernism takes a critical and practical look at the cultural theories of what comes after postmodernism or the postmodern. Alongside contemporary literary authors, the anthology studies diverse contemporary textual phenomena from TV shows to online fan theories and survivalist blogs. The essays compiled in this anthology tentatively apply the theories of the post-postmodern to contemporary texts to see how they might open up for analysis within their new theoretical frameworks or challenge them.The introduction, co-written by all the authors of this volume, introduces the most influential theories of post-postmodernism and contextualizes them within broader intellectual trends of the early 21st Century. The three essays comprising the first part of the volume discuss some of the theories of the postmodern in relation to contemporary works that seem to challenge them. Yet they also strive to clarify and sharpen some of the ideas proposed in the theories of the post-postmodern.The second part of the volume aims to show that it is not only the contemporary texts that move beyond the postmodern – the ways of reading literature and interpreting artworks in different media are also changing. The essays in the second part of the volume inquire about the effects of the contemporary literary culture on the methods of interpretation and ways of reading.

    Description: Contrary to the secularism thesis of the 20th century, religion did not disappear from the Western experience. Rather, religiosity took on new forms, which emphasized individuality, experientiality, and corporeality, and highlighted lifestyle consumption. These new spiritualities came to be understood as the opposite of religiosity: people identified themselves as being not religious, but spiritual. The book examines new spiritualities as a concept, a phenomenon, and a subject of research. It introduces the history of the concept and the different past approaches in the research field, and discusses the diversity of the phenomenon of new spiritualities, especially in 21st century Finland, through various case studies. The book shows the multiple ways in which new spiritualities intertwine with different sectors of the society and blur spirituality’s boundary with religion, health care, art, and popular culture, for example. The book is the first book-length presentation in Finnish of the field of new spiritualities.

    Description: Sofi Oksanen is the most visible and widely discussed Finnish author of the 21st century, yet her novels have gained less attention than her public performances. This study shifts the focus from the author’s persona to her literary art, proposing to read Oksanen’s fiction from the methodological viewpoint of the rhetorical theory of narrative. Accordingly, Oksanen’s six novels published to date – Stalinin lehmät, Baby Jane, Puhdistus, Kun kyyhkyset katosivat, Norma, and Koirapuisto – are considered as examples of authorial rhetoric and ethics, as narrative and textual constructions, and as affective readerly experiences. Instead of only following the rhetorical theory’s emphasis on character, plot, and progression, however, the study develops a new kind of narrative rhetoric, which also pays attention to language and politics. In the study, Sofi Oksanen emerges as a feminist narrative artist, who employs fiction as a serious rhetorical resource in order to say something worthwhile about the past history as well as the contemporary world.

    Description: Aviation psychology has gained importance due to aviation accidents largely being based on human factors. Aviation psychology is a discipline based on understanding and predicting the behavior of those engaged in aviation-related activities. Aviation psychology in particular came to the fore in the early 1900s with personality measurements in pilot selection. Today, aviation psychology is involved not only in the selection of suitable aviation personnel but also in aviation accident research, pilot peersupport programs, aviatic stress, human-machine interactions, flight phobia, gender-biased approaches in aviation, and aviatic communications. The role human factors have in aviation systems has changed with the developments in technology. These changes have brought along theoretical, experimental, and practical innovations in aviatic applications. The experienced innovations include many issues, from personnel employment qualifications to the difficulties experienced in human-machine interactions. We predict that the most effective way to meet the challenges of today’s and tomorrow’s rapidly changing technological developments will be through theoretical models and current research regarding implementation. Based on these facts , the need has emerged for a Turkish publication that is able to cover important areas in aviation psychology in Turkey . Although the chapters cover important topics in aviation psychology, they do not include every topic in the field. As such, this book marks just the beginning of future works from us on aviation psychology.

    Description: Havacılık kazalarının büyük oranda insan faktörlerine dayandırılmasıyla havacılık psikolojisi önem kazanmaya başlamıştır. Havacılık psikolojisi, havacılıkla ilgili faaliyetlerde bulunan bireylerin davranışlarını anlama ve tahmin etmeye yönelik bir disiplin olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Özellikle 1900’lü yılların başlarında pilot seçimlerinde kişilik ölçümlemeleriyle gündeme gelen havacılık psikolojisi, bugün sadece uygun havacılık personeli seçiminde değil havacılık kazaları araştırmaları, pilot akran destek programları, stres, insan-makine etkileşimleri, uçuş fobisi, havacılıkta cinsiyetçi yaklaşımlar ve iletişim gibi pek çok konuyu içerisinde barındırmaktadır. Havacılık sistemlerinde insan faktörlerinin rolü teknolojik gelişmelerle beraber değişime uğramıştır. Bu değişimler, havacılık uygulamalarında da teorik, deneysel ve uygulamaya yönelik yenilikleri beraberinde getirmiştir. Yaşanan yenilikler istihdam edilecek personelin ihtiyaç duyulan niteliğinden insan-makine etkileşiminde yaşanan zorluklara kadar pek çok konuyu içermektedir. Bugünün ve yarının hızla değişen teknolojik gelişmelerinin zorluklarını en etkili şekilde karşılamanın yolunun teorik modeller ve uygulamaya yönelik güncel araştırmalarla olduğunu öngörmekteyiz. Bu ihtiyaçlar ve dayanaklar bağlamında havacılık psikolojisinde ülkemizde önemli alanları kapsayacak Türkçe bir eser ihtiyacının olduğu düşüncesi ortaya çıkmıştır. Kitabımız ülkemizde halen Havacılık Psikolojisi alanında yazılmış ender kitaplardan biri olup, okuyuculara sivil havacılık psikolojisi alanındaki temel kavramları, araştırma alanlarını ve güncel uygulamaları tanıtmayı hedeflemektedir. Kitapta yer alan bölüm yazarlarının bazılarının sektörde aktif olarak görev almış olması, ilgili bölümlerde bu yazarların bilgi ve deneyimleriyle kitaba katkı sağlamıştır.     Description: Human lives are crucially shaped by encounters of otherness – or, rather, various othernesses. This book explores the ethical challenge of developing an appropriate and respectful relation to other human beings by analyzing a number of historical and cultural cases of relating to the other. The topics range from barbarism, racist stereotypes, female rhetoric, and vampires to philosophical analyses of Finnish writers like Eino Leino and Väinö Linna, and from lyrical depictions of pain to an “antitheodicist” reflection on Primo Levi’s Holocaust writing. A chapter on what it means to take a critical distance to other human beings in the context of the covid-19 pandemic concludes the volume. The authors approach these diverse issues (which are all aspects of the same basic problem of understanding and acknowledging otherness) from the perspective of an interdisciplinary humanistic reflection integrating literary analysis and philosophical argumentation.

Thus, the collection is primarily about barriers, their nature, localization, and possible effects. Under barriers, most people imagine material barriers for wheelchair users in the form of steps or sidewalk curbs. Only a few would think that barriers can be represented by loosely placed rugs, unfit lighting, large glass surface, a doorbell without visual output, unwanted attention, frequent asking and offering help, lack of language knowledge, pity, etc. Thus, the book broadens awareness of what can be considered a barrier. The texts are divided into three parts – theoretical, methodic, and empirical – and their arrangement follows the logic of thematic focusing from the most general to the most concrete types of barriers. While the theoretical part places the policies of accessibility into the wider context of scientific disciplines and their development – such as disability studies, disability geography or service design, the methodic part discusses the introduction of accessibility policies in the city of Brno, describing how it tried to make its space, services, and information more accessible. Finally, the empirical part offers 18 examples of relatively good barrier-free implementations that have been recently realized in Brno. This division reflects an effort to target several groups of readers. The first part thus addresses mainly students interested in accessibility issues, the second, methodic part is intended for politicians and municipalities searching for inspiration to implement their own accessibility measures and policies. The last part stating concrete examples of good barrier-free implementations is aimed at general public, at people who like to think about a whole range of topics related to accessibility of space, services, and information.

    Description: This study explores the narration of existential feelings, or feelings of being in the world, in post-war Finnish prose fiction. The book presents five case studies which address modern individuals’ struggles in boundary situations of their lives. Rigorous readings of the works of Kerttu-Kaarina Suosalmi, Lassi Nummi, Marko Tapio, Tyyne Saastamoinen and Eeva-Liisa Manner all show the influence of French existentialism and its predecessors on post-war Finnish modernism for the first time in literary studies. The outsider figures and their experiences of the absurd, which have enticed the cultural imagination since ancient cults and the Book of Job, connect to the atmosphere of shared melancholy in post-war Finnish culture and society. The study participates in the rich contemporary debates on the effects of literature by focusing on less-discussed aspects of bodily feeling, affect, emotion and mood in late Finnish modernism. The book’s methodological contribution to narrative theory is that it combines a phenomenological analysis of reading with a rhetorical theory of narrative and politically informed, multidisciplinary emotion studies. The five case studies show how modernist outsider prose fiction in Finland resorts to irony, metafiction, allegory and the imaginative to generate ethically challenging narrative tension and an ambivalence of negative and positive emotion in readers. The opposing impulses of the aesthetic response produce an openness of interpretation. This openness provides us with the possibility of a more complex cultural understanding of emotion and ethics in the lives of strangers within literature and outside it.

    Description: Valco (1976–1980) was a state-owned company that manufactured cathode ray tubes for the television industry. The company’s scandalous failure has been widely identified as one of the largest investment errors in Finland’s economic history. This book is the first in-depth study of the roots, events, and consequences of that project. This study analyses Valco from a microhistorical perspective, looking at the numerous factors that led to its failure, from the company’s founding process to investigations after its demise. These events are linked to broader phenomena in economic and business history, such as the changing economic policy of the government and the emergence of global supply chains in the electronics industry. Valco is a significant single case with a concrete impact on Finland’s economic history. First, it changed the general perception of state-owned companies and, because of this, also more general perceptions of the role of the state in the economy. As a result, the initiative to develop the electronics industry was transferred to private companies such as Nokia. Second, Valco’s case revealed the problems of state ownership of companies in a very concrete way. Due to Valco’s failure, the objectives of state ownership were clarified, and the corporate governance system was modernised. In this way, Valco is linked to the modernization of Finnish state capitalism from the 1970s onwards.

The volume „Anthropocentrism in language and speech” was prepared in memory of Mikhail Shelyakin (1927–2011), a long-time professor of the Russian language at the University of Tartu. The relation between language and the human being was M. Shelyakin’s central topic during the final period of his research. The articles focus on anthropocentrism of the linguistic sign and its realization in speech. They continue and develop the problems studied by M. Shelyakin mainly on the basis of Russian. The volume consists of three parts: anthropocentrism in word-formation and grammar, anthropocentrism in phraseology and the lexical system, and the impact of anthropocentrism on contrastive studies, translation, and the teaching of foreign languages.

    Description: Title in English: Personal marketing in management of human resources Personnel marketing is currently taking shape as a separate industry that connects the management of human resources with marketing and places each employee into the role of a customer. The connection of these two areas creates an effect with synergy, which leads to better work with human capital. However, even despite the current need for innovative approaches to acquiring employees, the potential of personnel marketing is unsatisfactorily utilised both in the Czech Republic and abroad. In professional and scientific literature, foreign and mainly domestic, there are very few publications focused on personnel marketing comprehensively. They have explained its innovativeness, how activities carried out in personnel marketing differ from “classic” personnel-related activities. What is the relationship between personnel marketing and the employer’s brand. It is synonymous, or building the brand is part of the communication strategy. Something else unknown relating to personnel marketing is its practical use. In Czech and world literature there is a lack of information about reality if practical application of personnel marketing is tied to an enterprise’s size. It is also possible in connection with personnel marketing to state critically that in both professional and scientific literature, there are rarely models available which illustrate factors leading to job satisfaction. In the terminology of personnel marketing these are factors of internal personnel marketing. Models which would currently illustrate factors of external marketing and/or enable understanding of personnel marketing as a whole were not identified by the author. The main objective of the monograph was to define tools and attributes of external and internal personnel marketing and resources supporting employees’ satisfaction and stability, which are important for effective management of human resources. In order to achieve this objective, quality research was conducted, along with two mutually corresponding quantitative studies – pre-research and main research. The aim of the qualitative research was to find out whether business practice is familiar with personnel marketing and how it perceives the contents of personnel marketing and to identify tools of internal and external personnel marketing applied in practice. The outputs of the qualitative research were the basis and source for realisation of quantitative research studies. Quantitative research was carried out in two steps. The pre-research research was focused on the most important employers in the Liberec Region, and the respondents were experts in human resources from these companies. The aim was to determine the perception of personnel marketing, determine the numerousness and effectiveness of personnel marketing tools, to determine the importance of individual resources for stabilisation/satisfaction of employees. Based on the results of this quantitative research, it was not possible to determine whether application of personnel marketing was tied to the company’s size. Therefore, the main quantitative research was conducted. The main quantitative research was based on findings of pre-research and was focused all on employers in the Liberec Region. The respondents were HR experts from these companies. The aim was to determine the perception of personnel marketing, along with determination of the frequency of use and the importance of personnel marketing tools and to determine the degree of importance of resources that would lead to satisfaction/stabilisation of employees. The aim of the finding was also to determine whether the size of the company had an effect on individual responses. For example, an effort was made to determine if the importance of individual personnel marketing tools varied depending on company size. Yapay Zeka çalışmalarının amacı “insan gibi düşünen” ve “insan gibi hareket eden (davranan)” makineler geliştirmek olunca, insanı anlamak ve bir makineyi ona benzetmenin ne kadar zor olduğu ama bunun yanısıra İBE’nin de ne kadar önemli bir alan olduğu bir kez daha doğrulanmış oluyor. Bugün, İnsan-Bilgisayar Etkileşimi (İBE) büyük bir literatür üzerine inşa edilmiş disiplinler arası bir araştırma alanı olarak bilim dünyasında dikkat çekiyor. Masaüstü ve mobil sitelerden sesli asistanlar gibi doğal kullanıcı arayüzlerine; kiosklardan arttırılmış, sanal ve karma gerçeklik ortamlarına uzanan geniş bir yelpazede söz konusu platformlar içinde kullanıcı deneyimini tüm katmanlarıyla anlamak büyük önem arz ediyor. Teknoloji çeşitliği karşısında kullanıcı çeşitliliği de önemli bir diğer araştırma odağı olarak öne çıkıyor. Post-demografik dönemde kullanıcıları sosyo-ekonomik statüleriyle segmentler üzerinde tanımlamak artık yeterli değil. Araştırmacılar kullanıcı ihtiyaçlarını daha doğru tespit edebilmek için her geçen gün bireye odaklanan persona odaklı bakışı daha çok sahipleniyor. Bu anlamda çocuklar, yaşlılar, engelliler gibi kendi has özel ihtiyaçları olan topluluklar üzerine şekillenen araştırmaların sayısı her geçen gün artıyor. Yukarıda kısaca ifade etmeye çalıştığımız bağlam üzerinden şekillenen İBE araştırmaları yurtdışında hareketli bir araştırma alanını tanımlarken, Türkiye’de bu alanda çalışan araştırmacı sayısı maalesef oldukça kısıtlı. Özellikle doktora seviyesinde açılan İBE odaklı dersler sayesinde alana yeni araştırmacı ve yayın kazandırma doğrultusunda özel bir çaba gösteriliyor. Elinizde tuttuğunuz bu kitap , bu çabanın değerli bir sonucu olarak hazırlandı. Doğrudan İBE alanı içine konumlanan özgün araştırmaları içeren bu yayın ilgili literatüre Türkçe katkı sağlamak suretiyle çok önemli bir işlevi yerine getiriyor. Son on yıldır Türkiye’de profesyonel dijital sektörün “kullanıcı deneyimi tasarımı”, “kullanıcı araştırmaları” gibi başlıklar altında İBE alanına yönelik somut ilgisinden bahsetmek mümkün. Elinizdeki bu kitabın sektöre bu bağlamda da ışık tutacağını düşünüyor, bu tarz özgün yayınların sayısının her geçen gün daha da artmasını umuyoruz.

Dünya Sağlık Örgütü tarafından “küresel salgın” olarak ilan edilen ve kaynağı henüz netlik kazanmamış olan virüsün en önemli özelliği hızlı bir şekilde damlacık yoluyla yayılmasıdır. Bu özelliği sayesinde kısa süre içerisinde geniş kitleleri etkilemiş ve dünyanın birçok ülkesinde binlerce ölüme neden olmuş, olmaya da devam etmektedir. Koronavirüsler insanları ve çeşitli hayvan türlerini enfekte edebilen RNA virüsleridir. Koronavirüslerin alfa, beta, gamma ve delta olmak üzere dört farklı cinsi vardır. Alfa ve beta koronavirüs insanları enfekte edebilirken, gamma ve delta koronavirüs sadece hayvanları enfekte edebilmektedir. COVID-19 hastalığına sebep olan “SARS-CoV-2” adlı yeni tip koronavirüs canlıların vücuduna göz, burun veya ağız yoluyla girmekte ve organizmaya giren virüs akciğer gibi solunum yolunda bulunan “ACE2 reseptörü” aracılığıyla hücrelere yapışmaya çalışmaktadır. SARS-CoV-2’nin neden olduğu hastalık Koronavirüs hastalığı-19 (COVID-19) olarak adlandırılmıştır. COVID-19 ismi “CO” ve “VI” koronovirüsten, “D” ingilizcede hastalık anlamına gelen “disease” kelimesinden, 19 ise vakaların görülemeye başlandığı 2019 yılından gelmektedir. Bu kitapta COVID-19 hastalığının farklı boyutları çok değerli öğretim üyelerimiz tarafından kaleme alınmıştır.     Description: The name Dârülfünûn was given to the university with a system similar to that of European models that was to be founded in the Ottoman Empire. This idea was introduced for the first time at the beginning of the Tanzimat, a period that can be considered the impetus for Ottoman modernization. In 1846, Board of General Education (Meclis-i Maarif-i Umûmiye) made the decision to set up a university, with Gaspare Trajano Fossati, a prominent architect of the time, being asked to design a massive building akin to European universities. The 1846 decision could not be implemented until 1863, and the first attempt at Dârülfünûn ended after two and a half years of free courses (serbest dersler). Afterward, the university building was allotted to the Ministry of Finance. The second attempt took place between 1869 and 1872 in the building that is now known as the Press Museum in Istanbul’s Çemberlitaş District, which had been built especially for Dârülfünûn. This second attempt also did not last long. However, the implementation of the General Education Regulations (Maarif-i Umûmiye Nizâmnâmesi) for the first time and the structuring of primary and secondary education in the following years in accordance with the aims of this regulation are included among the successful features of the second attempt. In fact, the fruits of this second attempt would be realized during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II (r. 1876-1909). In 1874- 1875, the third attempt occurred to found a university, this time under the name Dârülfünûn-ı Sultanî. For the first time, students at this new university, which included the Faculties of Law, Engineering, and Literature, were entitled to write a PhD dissertation in their field. Political instability generated by the period’s economic and social realities, as well as international pressure on the state, prevented this third attempt from producing the desired results. Nonetheless, while the expected outcome was yet to be realized, this third attempt paved the way for the establishment of independent educational institutions (i.e., modern schools). In 1900 and coinciding with the 25th anniversary of Sultan Abdülhamid II’s accession to the throne, the idea of establishing a university again came to the agenda, and the first university of the Ottoman Empire, Dârülfünûn-ı Şâhâne, finally began its uninterrupted education and training with five faculties: the Faculties of Literature, Science, and Ulûm-ı Âliye-i Dîniyye [Theology] and the previously established Faculties of Medicine and Law.

    Description: The book focuses on intangible and tangible heritage, language and vernacular religion of the Ingrians, Setos and Votes, three Finnic ethnic minorities sharing a long-standing identification with the Russian Orthodox faith. Written by 16 authors, the chapters are mainly based on nineteenth- and twentieth-century materials. The research history and collecting of folklore are also discussed.The historical area of the Ingrians and Votes is located in Ingria, adjacent to St. Petersburg, while the Setos have inhabited both sides of the border of southern Estonia and Russia. All three groups live on the borderline of the Eastern and Western Churches and cultural realms.Currently, the Ingrian and Votic languages are extremely endangered, while the Seto language has approximately 12,000 speakers. There is a high local interest in the maintenance and revitalisation of all three languages and cultural traditions.

    Description: Title in English: Education of Pupils with Learning Disabilities – Mathematics. Education of pupils with learning disabilities has been in the centre of attention of teachers, parents as well as the general public. When solving our project we verified several ways of teaching mathematics at an ordinary primary school, which might help included pupils to handle some of their problems with this subject. Key activities had been prepared in order to introduce new approaches to teaching pupils with learning disorders in heterogeneous classes, with respect to development and strengthening of pupils' competences. Our project gave a positive outcome in changing attitudes of the included pupils to mathematics and improvement of their results. Also, the structured way of teaching mathematics helped most pupils in the class.

    Description: We have regretfully observed for many years that the academic community in Tur key, except in some limited areas, has failed to provide the necessary contribution about the issues that Turkey has had to deal with on international level, because the debates have been confined to superficial, oversimplified, and outdated ideological points of view in daily politics. However, the fundamental theses, discussions, and prospective guidance of politics, law, economics, and international relations would be much more lasting and effective once they are shaped by the robust data and theses of the academic community in Turkey. We hope that the book The Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean in the Global and Regional Balance Based on the Axes of Geography, History, and Interna tional Law drawn up in cooperation between the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and Istanbul University can contribute to creating such a horizon and produce theses to this effect. No matter what topic of international relations one may address, it is impossible to understand and present it independently of other problems and topics. Therefore, we need to gain insight into all incidents and processes that affect and shape the Eastern Mediterranean, and within this framework put forward our projections on the future of Turkey, which is a common concern and asset for all of us. We currently observe manifestations of a biased perspective that is far from fair concerning the ongoing events in the Eastern Mediterranean. The initiatives of Turkey, seeking her rights arising from the international law and agreements since the very beginning through legitimate means and methods, have been encountered by some countries and so-called alliances, which disregard international law and agreements and consider all kinds of illegitimate actions as their rights. Undoubtedly, it is desirable to collaborate, make efforts, and negotiate with approaches in goodwill, respecting international law and agreements aiming at establishing peace as well as the rights, and laws of nations and states. However, it is impossible to take action before realizing and having others realize the following facts: Some countries, in the global order lacking justice established in the aftermath of the Second World War, had only rights and interests. Some others had only duties and responsibilities. This bizarre and unjust order lasted for years. However, the world has now changed and the parameters creating this unjust order have collapsed. We observe that it takes time for some countries to come to terms with this reality. Every state and nation, when it comes to the international order, shall have rights and interests as well as duties and responsibilities. Such a world where this just state of affairs prevails is not far away. This book offers a comprehensive perspective addressing the Eastern Mediterra nean issue within the context of not only history, law, and international relations but also geography, geopolitics, and biodiversity. I hope that the ideas, recommendations and outcomes offered in the book will pave the way for new perspectives to locate the Eastern Mediterranean in the blue shade of peace. I would like to thank Prof. Mahmut AK, the Rector of Istanbul University, for his leadership in the publication of the book as well as the academics contributing their articles. I am pleased and confident that this book will be appreciated by the readers as an invaluable source of scholarship on the Eastern Mediterranean.

Dolayısıyla Doğu Akdeniz’i, onu etkileyen ve şekillendiren bütün hadiseler ve süreçlerle ilgisini dikkatle anlamak, hepimizin ortak derdi ve değeri olan Türkiye’nin geleceğine dair öngörülerimizi de bu çerçevede ortaya koymak durumundayız. Bugün Doğu Akdeniz’de ortaya çıkan hadiselerde tarafgir ve adaletten uzak bakış açısının tezahürlerini görmekteyiz. Başından itibaren sadece uluslararası hukuktan ve anlaşmalardan kaynaklanan haklarını yine aynı hassasiyetle meşru araçlar ve yöntemlerle arayan Türkiye’nin girişimleri, uluslararası hukuku ve antlaşmaları yok sayan, her türlü gayrimeşru girişimi hak sayan birtakım ülkeler ve sözde ittifaklarla karşılanmıştır. Şüphesiz iyi niyetli, barışı tesis etmeyi hedefleyen uluslararası hukuka ve anlaşmalara saygılı, milletlerin ve devletlerin hak ve hukuklarına hürmet eden yaklaşımlarla hep birlikte çalışmak, gayret göstermek, müzakere yapmak arzu edilen bir tutumdur. Ancak şu gerçekleri görmeden ve göstermeden harekete geçmek de mümkün değildir. İkinci Dünya Savaşı sonrası kurulan adaletsiz dünya düzeninde bazı ülkelerin sadece hak ve menfaatleri vardı. Bazı ülkelerin ise sadece vazife ve yükümlülükleri vardı. Uzun yıllar bu garip ve adaletsiz düzen devam etti. Ancak artık dünya değişti, bu adaletsiz düzeni var eden parametreler çöktü. Bu gerçekliği bazı ülkelerin kabul etmekte geciktiğini görüyoruz. Uluslararası düzende her devletin, her milletin hak ve menfaatleri olduğu gibi, vazife ve yükümlülükleri de vardır. Bu adaletli tezin hakim olacağı bir dünya uzak değildir. Bu kitap, Doğu Akdeniz sorununu yalnızca tarih, hukuk, uluslararası ilişkiler açısından değil, coğrafi, jeopolitik ve biyoçeşitlilik açılarından da ele almak suretiyle konuya bütüncül bir perspektif getirmektedir. Umuyorum ki kitapta ortaya konulan düşünce, öneri ve sonuçlar Doğu Akdeniz’in bir barış maviliği içinde kalmasına dönük yeni yaklaşımların kapısını açar. It introduces the service of the counselling institutions which represent the critical role in the specific period. These are early intervention and special needs centres which combine the domain of social and school care. The text includes an overview of diagnostic methods concerning the early age as well as the summary of the diagnostic process in children with hearing disability at pre-school and school age. Students would be able to study the examples of tests and materials applicated in practice with the focus on the organization and principles of the tasks. This material is aimed to create a successful combination with the lectures and discussions. The text is designed as a study and supportive material for the group and individual work. The following aim is to share the experience during the debates.

    Description: Title in English: Special pedagogical diagnostics in education of individuals with physical disability Limited and disordered movement or ability to move has an impact on the educational process and vocational training of the people with physical disability. It is not always possible to be educated at the place of living, because all schools have non barrier access and are not able to ensure optimal conditions for inclusive education. Immobility often means limited participation of pupil in some lessons, limits the choice of the leisure time activities and complicates independent movement (on a wheelchair) in the social environment due to the lack of the non-barrier access to pavements, shopping centres and cultural centres and offices. In some cases, persons with severe disability have limited life space and are often socially isolated. Together with the inclusive trends in the society it is necessary to create resources which enable to teachers, assistants and leisure time teachers to work with people with physical disability. The base of presented e-book is aimed on the support including the educational process and the aim is to summarise and present possible intervention and compensation. The studying text should make the orientation in the presented field easier and provide support to students and special needs teachers and to other specialists to solve the problems in the sphere of support of people with physical disability.

    Description: Title in English: Communication and simulation techniques in deaf education: Methodical texts for the MUNI 4.0 project The text defines the basic concepts related to the compensation of hearing impairment. There are presented current possibilities of auditory prosthetics and it´s use in the everyday life of an individual and also in the educational process, including wireless technologies. Another part is devoted to the communication system option – visual-motor and auditory-social. The choice of the appropriate communication system depends on the individual needs. The authors main goal is to stress the importance of the early functional communication launching and also the of functional literacy in individuals with hearing impairment. The presented material should be used as a study support, which could follow the interpretation carried out during teaching session.

    Description: Title in English: Education of Students with Asperger Syndrome in the Inclusive Classroom. The methodological guide focuses on developing social, emotional, and communication skills of students with Asperger syndrome and their classmates, teachers, assistant teachers, and the school staff. We aim to extend knowledge on the specific approaches to students with AS in the inclusive classroom. We offer coping strategies in situations arising from the interaction between the school actors. A classroom adaptation and fostering positive relationships between classmates are the critical factors for positive school experiences of everybody. We present specific cases from the participatory classroom observation. Furthermore, we discuss the difficulties in the inclusive classroom and offer incentives to prevent these situations. We provide the readers with the specific activities for the groups with the students with AS.

    Description: Within the scope of the events of the 2019 Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Year, under the auspices of our Presidency and with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in partnership with Istanbul University, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Foundation University, and the Fuat Sezgin Islamic Science History Research Foundation, we had the honor of hosting the first International Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Symposium of Islamic History of Science on 13-15 June at Istanbul University. Our late Professor Fuat Sezgin, who questioned and evaluated the role of Islamic civilization in the development of sciences with a scientific attitude instead of taking a reactionary defensive stance against the views that limit the role of Islamic civilization in its contribution to inter-civilizational transfer only in certain historical periods, earned an unforgettable place in the history of Islamic science while he was still alive with the dozens of works he published with his commentary, hundreds of volumes of books he uncovered, nearly a thousand scientific tools he unearthed, the scientific institutions he pioneered, and the scientists he inspired. By remembering our late Professor Fuat Sezgin, who, despite all the obstacles and difficulties he faced, faithfully and patiently devoted his entire life to showing the place of the sciences developed in the Islamic world in the international history of science, and especially to objectively revealing the role of Islamic sciences in the development of the history of Western science, we hope to be able to make a modest contribution in terms of passing his scientific legacy on to future generations. The symposium we held to honor the legacy of Fuat Sezgin by remembering the works he carried out during his lifetime and to express our gratitude to him was attended by nearly 100 worthy academicians in the field of the history of science from 21 different countries, and this legacy left behind by our late Professor was honored with a total of 79 papers presented over three days. Prepared as a tangible fruit of the symposium and a permanent expression of our gratitude to our late Professor, this proceedings book has been created with the contributions of the esteemed academicians who participated in the symposium. It consists of an introduction section of three articles written on the life and works of our late Professor, and 38 articles in English, Arabic, and Turkish categorized under the titles of Fuat Sezgin’s Contributions to the History of Science, Astronomy, Mathematics, Medicine, Geography, Natural Sciences, and Islamic Studies. Hoping that this proceedings book we have published will have an important place in the history of Islamic Science literature and make a significant contribution to the field with the belief that it will open the horizons of young researchers, we are grateful to have the opportunity to thank the individuals and institutions for their support in organizing this important event and the preparation of this proceedings book.     Description: Title in English: Why education and its actors fail : Cognitive landscapes and nationalism. Why education reforms are often unsuccessful? Why is the school environment essentially toxic and systemically hindering the education process? Why, despite the sincere efforts of enlightened headmasters and teachers to change the face of the school, is it not actually transforming it? The book shows that reforms only affect the surface of schools. The core of the school institution is governed by rationality, which is associated with the industrial nationalist era. This rationality, at many levels – from state, to regional, to the level of everyday action of all actors – contradicts the structure of the globalizing world, its networking and non-hierarchical nature. In this new world, the institution of the school is still an institution that systematically norms and homogenizes the population and excludes all “inadaptable”. We are on the threshold of a whole new era, but schools sound with the rhythm of the 19th century.

    Description: Surrounding all along the sky during nighttime and known as the “Milky Way” with its name coming from the mythology, the hazy structure is a part of our Galaxy that contains billions of stars. The Milky Way Galaxy, which we are the inhabitants of, is a system that contains much more than this hazy structure. Since the Milky Way’s first observation with a telescope by Galileo in 1610, we are still trying to understand the structure, formation and evolution of our Galaxy, with the help of earth and space-based telescopes. In the study of the Milky Way as a galaxy, both extragalactic astronomy and stellar populations are utilized by using photometric, astrometric and spectral methods. Until the 21st century, traditional star counting analysis was used to understand the stellar populations and the basic structure of our Galaxy. Since the 21st century, with high resolution, sensitive, large scale and systematic CCD based sky surveys have come into play. Sent to space in 2013, the satellite Gaia has become one of the corner stones of Galactic astronomy and started the golden age of astrometry. With this satellite, it is aimed to observe over a billion of objects in our Galaxy. Thus, in the 21st century, the observational data accumulation, diversified with unprecedentedly sensitive astrometric, spectral and photometric data, and reached large dimensions, has given the opportunity to examine our Galaxy not only structurally but also in terms of its formation and evolution, and opened new horizons for the testing of chemo-dynamic evolutionary scenarios. Researches also focused on various topics of astronomy has been accomplished in Turkey for decades. As these studies are presented in international publications, they also found places in national congresses and workshops. Still, studies contributing to Galactic astronomy are carried out by examining sky survey data, star clusters, binary stars and similar objects, and observational initiatives and calibration projects to support these studies are carried out simultaneously. Moreover, these studies show remarkable developments in qualitative and quantitative terms. The aim of the meeting that took place on September 12-13 2019, titled “Galactic Astronomy Workshop” with international participants was to discuss the researches contributing directly or indirectly to Galactic astronomy starting from the observations of different objects, meeting the researchers to discuss this specific issue, establishing collaborations that can lead to joint studies and to foresee of these said studies in our country.

    Description: Gece gökyüzümüzü boydan boya kuşatan ve mitolojiden gelen ismiyle “Milky Way (Samanyolu)” olarak bilinen puslu yapı milyarlarca yıldız içeren Galaksimizin bir parçasıdır. İçinde bulunduğumuz Samanyolu Galaksisi bu puslu yapıdan çok daha fazlasını içeren bir sistemdir. 1610 yılında Samanyolu’nu bir teleskop ile ilk kez inceleyen Galileo’dan bu yana, yer ve uzay tabanlı teleskoplar yardımıyla Galaksimizin yapısını, oluşumunu ve evrimini hala öğrenmeye çalışıyoruz. Bir galaksi olarak Samanyolu’nun incelenmesinde fotometrik, astrometrik ve tayfsal yöntemleri kullanarak hem galaksi-dışı astronomiden hem de yıldız popülasyonlarından yararlanılır. 21. yüzyıla kadar geleneksel yıldız sayımları analizi, Galaksimizin temel yapısının ve yıldız popülasyonlarının anlaşılmasını sağlarken, bu yüzyıldan itibaren CCD tabanlı, yüksek ayırma güçlü, duyarlı, büyük ölçekte ve sistematik sayısal gökyüzü taramaları devreye girmiştir. 2013 yılında uzaya gönderilen, Galaktik astronomi için köşe taşlarından biri olan ve astrometrinin altın çağını açan Gaia uydusu ile de Galaksimizdeki bir milyardan fazla nesnenin gözlenmesi hedeflenmiştir. Böylece, 21. yüzyılda şimdiye kadar görülmemiş derecede duyarlı astrometrik, tayfsal ve fotometrik verilerle çeşitlenen ve büyük boyutlara ulaşan gözlemsel veri birikimi, Galaksimizin sadece yapısal olarak değil, oluşumu ve evrimi açısından da incelenmesine fırsat vermiş ve kemo-dinamik evrim senaryolarının sınanması için yeni ufuklar açmıştır. Astronominin çeşitli konularına odaklanmış araştırmalar Türkiye’de de on yıllardır yapılagelmiştir. Bu çalışmalar uluslararası yayınlarda sunulduğu gibi, ulusal kongreler ve çalıştaylarda da tartışma ortamları bulmuştur. Halen gökyüzü tarama verilerinin, yıldız kümelerinin, çift yıldızlar ve benzeri nesnelerin incelenmesiyle Galaktik astronomiye katkıda bulunacak araştırmalar yapılmakta ve bu çalışmaları destekleyecek gözlemsel girişimler ve kalibrasyon projeleri de eş zamanlı olarak yürütülmektedir. Üstelik bu çalışmalar nitel ve nicel yönden dikkat çekici gelişmeler göstermektedir. 12-13 Eylül 2019 tarihlerindeki “Galaktik Astronomi Çalıştayı” başlıklı uluslararası katılımlı bu toplantı, farklı nesnelerin gözlemlerinden itibaren Galaktik astronomiye doğrudan ya da dolaylı katkıda bulunan araştırmaları ele almak, araştırmacıların buluşarak bu özgül konuda tartışmalarını sağlamak, ortak çalışmalara yol açabilecek işbirlikleri oluşturmak ve ülkemizdeki geleceğini öngörmek amacıyla düzenlenmiştir.

    Description: The great change in European relations with Russia took place in 1478 when Muscovy replaced the trading Republic of Novgorod as a neighbor of Sweden, Livonia and Lithuania. Western Europe was since that year bordering to a bellicose great power with large resources causing dread. The feelings of dread caused by Russia with Czars like Ivan the Terrible became a standing theme in printed matter as well as politics and the image of Russia became very much similar to the image of Turkey, which threatened Europe from South-East. Various, usually rather negative, stereotype expressions characterized the vocabulary of the 16th century. The Peace of Stolbova in 1617 started a period of successive change. The era of Sweden as a Great Power led to growing knowledge about Russia in almost every respect, but it was still based on the already accepted stereotypes. They started, however, typically to seem more diluted and thin with time. The image of Russia as a threat was to a growing extent replaced by an image of a possibility. The perhaps most remarkable but rather unoriginal printed Swedish description of Russia of the era was Regni Muschovotici Sciographia, published by Petrus Petrejus. At the final stage of Sweden’s era as a great power there was a substantial widening but also polarization of the information on Russia. The Russian reform process during Tsar Peter I also began to influence the minds after the turn of the century in 1700. One of the principal describers of this process was Lars Johan Malm (Ehrenmalm), whose large manuscript about the power of the Russian Empire of that time, Några Anmärkningar Angående det Ryska Rijkets Nuvarande Macht from 1714, never reached the printers due to intervention from censors.

    Description: Title in English: Methodology of working with inclusive class collective with focus on pupils with impaired communication ability. The theoretical part describes the bases for the communication process and its disruption in a broader context, focusing on school age and reflection in the current and educational communication situation. The research part offers the results of the survey, which results from long-term cooperation with two primary schools of inclusive type, in which pupils with different forms of special educational needs are educated. In these schools, precisely, in these classrooms in which pupils with impaired communication ability were educated, the activities aimed at strengthening communicative competence and social ties were carried out at regular intervals during one school year.

    Description: Title in English: Methods of causal analysis for measuring the sales support efficiency. In recent years, company costs associated with sales promotion activities have continued to rise in developed economies, and yet many studies show that such sales promotion activities are very often unprofitable, and in many cases even result in losses. One cause of this undesirable phenomenon may be inadequate analytical tools. The use of adequate analytical tools would make it possible to reliably measure the effectiveness of sales promotion activities. The most commonly used analytical tools often lead to biases when estimating the effectiveness of promotion activities. This is because these tools cannot take into account a number of factors which change over time, may affect the profitability indicators and are not controlled when performing an estimate with the common tools. The monograph offers a new approach to estimating baseline sales (i.e. the sales figures as they would be if sales promotion activity had not taken place) using causal analysis methods. The suggested approach removes the bias of an estimator resulting from the change of factors over time, while at the same time it is simple enough to be implemented in common business practice. The monograph also presents the methods of causal analysis. Despite their potential to successfully deal with a number of marketing and management issues, these methods are rarely used, either in the Czech Republic or internationally.

    Description: This edited book is the third in a series of yearbooks that introduces the principles and applicability of the method of empathy-based stories. The book presents ten empirical studies which all use this method as a tool for data collection. In addition, the work examines the reliability of the method of empathy-based stories as a method and as part of qualitative research. The research articles in the book provide a current overview of the change in different work and operating environments. These environments include various educational institutions from elementary school to universities, social media, and human resource management. Studies examine the social inclusion, participation and agency of pupils, students, young people, and professionals, as well as the professional and ethical challenges of those working in new environments. The method of empathy-based stories is used to observe, for example, university students’ interpretations of involvement in the curriculum process, pupils' views on co-teaching, different forms of agency of young people who experience sexual harassment online, and the subjectivity of recruiters and the reasons for recruitment choices. Methodologically, the book focuses on the reliability of the method of empathy-based stories and considers the characteristics of the method among qualitative research methods. Reflecting on the research articles, the work discusses what kind of requirements and challenges the method poses for both the researcher and the respondents. The book provides guidelines for evaluating the reliability of the method of empathy-based stories, while participating also in a general discussion of the reliability, potential, and limitations of qualitative research. The book indicates how the method of empathy-based stories can be applied to a wide variety of research in different contexts. The strength of the method is its ability to utilize the respondents' imagination, thus providing the researchers with opportunities to find new perspectives and invent propositions. The book also provides practical examples of how the method can be used in research.
    Description: Kasvatusinstituutiot peruskoulusta yliopistoon ovat jatkuvan muutoksen keskiössä. Globaalit ja paikalliset yhteiskunnalliset muutokset, kuten esimerkiksi sosiaalisen median levittäytyminen osaksi arkea tai synnytyssairaaloiden keskittäminen, asettavat ammattilaisille uusia osaamisvaatimuksia sekä eettisiä haasteita. Kokoomateoksen kymmenessä tutkimusartikkelissa tarkastellaan eläytymismenetelmän avulla näiden muuttuvien ympäristöjen vaikutusta niissä toimivien ihmisten arkeen. Tutkimusartikkeleissa käsitellään esimerkiksi oppilaiden näkemyksiä yhteisopettajuudesta, kätilöiden osaamista, rekrytoijien ammattitaitoa sekä seksuaalista häirintää verkossa kohtaavien nuoren toimijuutta. Menetelmällisen painotuksensa ansiosta teosta voi hyödyntää myös eläytymismenetelmän soveltamistapoja kuvaavana oppikirjana. Teos on kolmas osa vuosikirjasarjassa, joka esittelee eläytymismenetelmän käyttöä tutkimusmenetelmänä. Teos osallistuu ajankohtaiseen keskusteluun laadullisen tutkimuksen luotettavuudesta hahmottamalla menetelmän käytettävyyden mahdollisuuksia ja rajoja sen metodologisten erityispiirteiden kautta.
