    Beschreibung: Revolution, Krieg und Nation: Dass dieser Dreiklang den Übergang von der alteuropäischen Gesellschaft zu den modernen Staatsnationen des 19. und 20. Jahrhunderts begleitete, gehört zu den Grundüberzeugungen der Geschichtswissenschaft vom "langen" 19. Jahrhundert. Im "Age of Revolutions" gaben die Ideen von Freiheit und Gleichheit mit ihrer systemerschütternden Kraft einem ganzen Zeitalter ihren Namen. Aber gilt der Zusammenhang von Krieg, Revolution und Nationalismus auch an den Rändern Europas und über Europa hinaus? Wie steht es um den asiatischen Teil der Sowjetunion, um Mexiko, die Türkei? Angelehnt an die grundlegenden Forschungen Dieter Langewiesches hinterfragen zehn Experten eine der wirkmächtigsten Meistererzählungen der Geschichtswissenschaft. Dabei gehen sie weit über den traditionellen mitteleuropäischen Forschungsrahmen hinaus und untersuchen Beispiele revolutionärer Erhebungen in Süd- und Osteuropa ebenso wie die Entwicklungen auf dem amerikanischen Kontinent. Zwei Zeiträume stehen im Mittelpunkt: Die Jahrzehnte um 1800 als dem klassischen Revolutionszeitalter und die Jahre um den ersten Weltkrieg, in dessen Umfeld erneut territoriale und politische Ordnungen in Frage gestellt und neu gestaltet wurden.

    Beschreibung: The Auerspergs [Turjaški] are among the rare noble families in the Slovenian territory with systematically preserved archives that date back to the Middle Ages. Most archival materials of the family, which was largely embedded in the framework of the Province of Carniola until the end of the 15th century, are presently kept in two private family archives: the Turjak Comital Fideicomiss Archives (Gräflich Auersperg'sches Fideikommisarchiv), first kept in the Turjak Castle until 1942 and now in the Carinthian Provincial Archives in Klagenfurt, and the Turjak Ducal Archives (Fürstlich Auersperg'sches Archiv), which were first moved to the Turjak Palace in Ljubljana and the Lower Austrian Lösensteinleiten Castle and finally ended up in the Viennese Haus-, Hof-, und Staatsarchiv.Turjaška knjiga listin 1 (1218–1400) [Turjak Book of Charters I (1218–1400)] contains 277 charters from the private archives of the Carniolan comital and ducal lines of the Auerspergs [Turjaški]. Published in their entirety, the charters are equipped with Slovenian regests and followed in the end by a comprehensive index of names and pictures of seals from the charters. With the publication of the Turjak charters, Slovenian historiography has gained an indispensable aid for the research of Slovenian medieval and modern history.
    Beschreibung: V Turjaški knjigi listin I (1218–1400) je objavljeno 277 listin iz zasebnih arhivov kranjske grofovske in knežje linije Turjaških (Auerspergov), ki so jih v sklopu grajskega arhiva do leta 1942 hranili na gradu Turjak, danes pa so shranjene izven slovenskega ozemlja. Listine so objavljene v celoti, opremljene so s slovenskimi regesti, ob koncu pa sledijo še obsežno imensko kazalo in slike pečatov z listin. Pripravljena izdaja turjaških listin sega do leta 1400 in je prvi del serije, v kateri bodo v končni fazi objavljene vse, tudi novoveške turjaške listine. Slovensko zgodovinopisje bo z objavo turjaških listin pridobilo nepogrešljiv pripomoček za raziskovanje slovenske srednjeveške in novoveške zgodovine.

Die Autoren dieses Bandes widmen sich ausgewählten Räumen der Antike und frühen Neuzeit und gehen der Frage nach, ob und warum wir von ihnen als Mußeräumen sprechen können. Dabei nehmen sie architektonische und funktionale Eigenschaften dieser Räume in den Blick, die diese als Mußeräume prädestinieren könnten, und arbeiten in literarischen Darstellungen die sprachlichen Mittel heraus, mit denen die Inszenierung als Mußeräume gelingt. An Werke der neulateinischen Literatur wird zudem die Frage gerichtet, wie die Antike selbst einen Mußeraum eröffnet, wenn sie in späteren Texten rezipiert wird. Im Fokus stehen das griechische Theater, die Bibliothek, die römische Villa, der locus amoenus, der Garten und die Landschaft.

The prohibition created tensions which art and literature could play with. Narratives about forbidden love show this through well-known authors such as Agnes von Krusenstjerna, Maria Sandel, Karin Boye and Frida Stéenhoff, and less well-known ones like Gertrud Almqvist, Margareta Suber, Lydia Wahlström and the pseudonym Elsa Gille. The book investigates literary narratives about women’s love for women and the ideas about the forbidden contained in them. What strategies did the authors use to get round the ban on the mention of the topic? Are there any utopian visions of how everything could be arranged in a different and better way? And how does the literature relate to other theories about same-sex love? Berättelser om det förbjudna: Begär mellan kvinnor i svensk litteratur 1900–1935 (“Stories of the Forbidden: Desire between Women in Swedish Literature 1900–1935”) is a free-standing continuation of Kärlekshistoria: Begär mellan kvinnor i 1800-talets litteratur (“Love Story: Desire between Women in Nineteenth-century Literature”, 2008). Together the books span over 100 years of Swedish literary history, making them the most comprehensive study available in the field in Sweden and Scandinavia. Eva Borgström is associate professor of comparative literature and lecturer at the Department of Literature, History of Ideas, and Religion at the University of Gothenburg. She has formerly worked at the National Secretariat for Gender Research and the Department of Gender Studies.

    Beschreibung: "This study focuses on two Swedish politicians, Nils Flyg and Sven Olov Lindholm. During the interwar era, they were both leaders of various Swedish political parties; in the case of Flyg the Swedish Communist Party, and later on the Socialist Party; in the case of Lindholm the National Socialist Worker’s Party (later renamed Swedish Socialist Unity). Both men were, in other words, influential politicians located at the outer edges of the ideological landscape. During the span of their lifetimes, however, Flyg as well as Lindholm made remarkable ideological transitions. From the end of the thirties and onwards, the former communist leader Flyg successively embraced German Nazism. Lindholm on the other hand stepped down from his leadership after the war, and became a left-wing political activist who did not hesitate to identify himself as a communist. Superficially, this is strikingly symmetric: The communist leader becomes a Nazi, and the Nazi leader becomes a communist. The aim of the study is to analyze the ideological links and tensions between Nazism and communism using these parallel biographies as a point of entrance. Inspired by political theorist Michael Freeden and his conceptual approach, and using a variety of sources, two core clusters of political concepts are identified and compared. It is shown that there are great similarities between Flyg and Lindholm when it comes to the role of anti-capitalism, anti-imperialism and the aspiration to idealize the Soviet Union or Germany as model states for workers. There are also, however, a number of differences, especially when it comes to views on modernity and materialism. In the final chapter, Flyg and Lindholm are compared to other European renegades. Here, the ambition is to identify common traits in the conversions. It is argued that the ideological antagonisms, the anti-positions, are crucial to this kind of generic renegadism."

    Beschreibung: This book highlights the diverse roles of the humanities in the history of the Swedish welfare society. This society has often been seen as dominated by an instrumental view of knowledge that rewarded the social sciences, natural sciences and technology, but the contributions in this book show the significant role that the humanities played in the Swedish welfare state. Various forms of humanistic knowledge and knowledge actors were part of large networks and left a clear mark on the public sphere and society at large. A narrative of the marginalization and crisis of the humanities in the postwar period must therefore be problematized. This edited volume brings together some twenty scholars from a number of humanities disciplines (history, history of ideas, media history, literary studies, archaeology, education, etc.). Much of the current research on the history of the humanities conducted in Sweden today is brought together here and put in relation to international discussions in fields such as history of humanities, history of knowledge, etc. The book is a sibling to the monograph Humanister i offentligheten, which was published in 2022.
