    Description: This book provides unique insights into how health professionals and people with Parkinson’s disease shape care together. It shows both the courage and vulnerabilities of those who have to face this disease. It consists of photos of people with Parkinson’s disease and their care professionals, both of their interaction and portrayed individually, interwoven with fragments of their dialogue about meaningful care. This book is an integral part of a research project at Radboud university medical center into person-centred care. With it, we hope to contribute to a positive, hopeful vision of ever-improving Parkinson’s care.

    Description: Back in 1963, when a conference on Horace was organised at Oudpelgeest (The Netherlands), Harry C. Schnur chose to comment upon Horace's famous poem Exegi monumentum aere perennius. Not unlike the Roman poet, Schnur was driven by one of mankind's strongest stimuli, the craving for immortality. No doubt the same attitude of mind made him meticulously keep together every possible line written by, or concerning, himself: copies of articles, books, translations, notes for his courses, poems, letters to editors of newspapers, files with clippings, were all for him more treasured than incunabula, rare books or precious furniture. Wartime conditions and a great many removals from Germany to England, thence to Holland, back again to England, thence to the U.S.A., back to Germany and then finally to the safe harbour of Switzerland, caused the loss of some book-cases, which left his collection incomplete, but still very impressive.

    Description: Experimental Affinities in Music brings together diverse artistic, musicological, historical, and philosophical essays, enhancing a broad discourse on artistic experimentation, and exploring various experimental attitudes in music composed between the thirteenth and twentieth centuries. The golden thread running through the different chapters is the quest for inherently experimental musical practices, a quest pursued from interrogating, descriptive, or challenging perspectives, and always in relation to concrete music examples. Experimental is taken as an adventurous compositional, interpretive, or performative attitude that can cut across different ages and styles. Affinities suggest connectors and connections, convergences, contiguities, and adjacencies that are found in and through a diversity of approaches and topics. The texts share a common genesis: the lectures of the International Orpheus Academies for Music and Theory convened by Luk Vaes (2011) and Paulo de Assis (2012, 2013). The affinities found in this volume include essays by Lydia Goehr, Felix Diergarten, Mark Lindley, Martin Kirnbauer, Edward Wickham, Lawrence Kramer, Hermann Danuser, and Thomas Christensen, as well as interviews with pianist Leon Fleisher, with pianist-composer Frederic Rzewski, and with composer Helmut Lachenmann.     Description: How to understand Europe’s post-migrant Islam on the one hand and indigenous, anti-Islamic movements on the other? What impact will religion have on the European secular world and its regulation? How do social and economic transitions on a transnational scale challenge ethnic and religious identifications? These questions are at the very heart of the debate on multiculturalism in present-day Europe. Through the lens of post-migrant societies, manifestations of identity appear in pluralized and deterritorialized forms. This calls into question the nature of boundaries between, as well as within various ethnic-religious groups. Although the contributions in this volume focus on Islam, attention is also paid to Christianity, Judaism, and Hinduism. The authors present empirical data from cases in Turkey, Germany, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Poland, Norway, Sweden and Belgium, and sharpen the perspectives on the religious-ethnic manifestations of identity in 21st-century Europe.
