    Description: Wang Wei has traditionally been considered one of the greatest of Tang dynasty poets, together with Li Bo and Du Fu. This is the first complete translation into English of all of his poems, and also the first substantial translation of a selection of his prose writings. For the first time, readers encountering his work in English translation will get a comprehensive understanding of Wang Wei‘s range as a poet and prose writer. In spite of the importance of Wang Wei's poetry in the history of Chinese literature, no one has attempted a complete translation of all of his surviving poems moreover, even though he was known for his skill in composing prose pieces in the recognized genres of his day (especially as a writer of commissioned compositions), very little of his prose has been translated. This translation will enable students with limited or no knowledge of Chinese to get a full sense of Wang Wei's compositional range. Moreover, since Wang Wei was known for being a devout Buddhist, having the complete poetry available in reliable translation as well as all of the prose that is connected to the Buddhist faith will be useful to students of Chinese religion.

    Description: Monografie se zabývá sociolingvistickou analýzou současné situace ve Španělsku. Vychází z detailního popisu jazyků a dialektů současného Španělska a snaží se načrtnout jazykovou dimenzi konfliktů, ke kterým dochází v tomto mnohojazyčném státě. Popisuje historii a současnost složitého vztahu mezi jazykem oficiálním (španělština) a jazyky kooficiálními (katalánština, baskičtina, galicijština). Ukazuje, že jazykový rozměr je jen jedním z aspektů, byť důležitým, daleko složitějšího konfliktu a že vztah mezi tímto jazykovým rozměrem a dimenzí politickou, kulturní a sociální je daleko komplikovanější, než jak se obvykle prezentuje. Vychází z analýzy aktuálních statistických dat a kromě detailního popisu stavu na jednotlivých dvojjazyčných územích (Baskicko, Galicie, Katalánsko, Valencie, Baleáry) obsahuje též zobecňující komentář, z kterého vyplývá, jak rozdílná je povaha jazykových konfliktů na jednotlivých územích a jak obtížné je hledat řešení na centrální, celošpanělské úrovni.

V oblasti morfologických kategorií volí spíše formální než sémantický přístup. Do značné míry vychází z obvyklého pojetí morfologie češtiny, tak jak je obsaženo v běžně dostupných mluvnicích a kompendiích (Mluvnice češtiny 2, Encyklopedický slovník češtiny, Příruční mluvnice češtiny a Čeština – řeč a jazyk). Tato příručka má charakter vysokoškolské učebnice; je určena posluchačům povinné přednášky z morfologie, která je součástí studijního plánu bakalářského oboru český jazyk a literatura na FF UK v Praze. This handbook, Morphology, presents a relatively comprehensive description of the functional morphology of contemporary (mainly standard) Czech. Formal morphology is covered only on a general level, without presenting paradigms of inflected types and descriptions of inflection irregularities. As concerns morphological categories, it favours a more formal approach as opposed to a semantic one. To a considerable extent, it is based on the common concept of the morphology of Czech as it is explained in available grammar books and compendia (Mluvnice češtiny 2 [Czech Grammar 2], Encyklopedický slovník češtiny [Encyclopaedia of Czech], Příruční mluvnice češtiny [Handbook of Czech Grammar] and Čeština – řeč a jazyk [Czech – the Speech and Language]). This handbook is a university course book; it is intended for the students of the mandatory morphology class which is included in the bachelor level Czech language and literature programme at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague.

Jejím cílem je zprostředkovat znalost alespoň některých důležitých lingvistických pojmů-termínů, se kterými se studenti budou setkávat i v průběhu dalšího studia bohemistiky, a podat přehled vybraných koncepcí jazyka a principů jeho zkoumání. V centru výkladu stojí především obecné otázky lingvistiky. Zřetel k bohemistice se projevuje hlavně v tom, že tyto otázky jsou – tam, kde je to možné – dokládány a rozvíjeny na českém jazykovém materiálu a na výsledcích, k nimž dospěla česká lingvistika. The presented textbook is intended primarily for the students in the first year of study of the Bachelor’s programme in Czech Language and Literature as supplementary material to the lecture series of the same name. It aims to present at least some of the most important linguistic terms and notions, those that the students will encounter throughout their study of Czech studies, and outline selected conceptions of the language and the principles of its research. The exposition primarily focuses on general issues in linguistics. The emphasis on Czech studies is manifested mainly in documenting and developing these issues using Czech language material and the results that Czech linguistics have achieved.
