As a part of the occation they hosted a seminar which in turn produced many of the contributions in this antology. This book seeks to discuss the place of the institution, a private, christian college, in the Norwegian higher education structure.
    Description: "NLA Høgskolen feira 50 årsjubileum i 2018. I jubileumshelga vart det halde fleire fagseminar. Fleire av innlegga frå seminara er i ettertid arbeidd ut som artiklar som blir publiserte i denne antologien. I tillegg er vitskapleg tilsette frå ulike avdelingar utfordra til å skriva. Boka er såleis vorten ein antologi som gjennom 12 artiklar vil syna forsking og fagleg engasjement ved NLA Høgskolen.     Description: Este livro propõe um novo modo de compreender a história literária no século XIX e a escrita literária de Machado de Assis. Lúcia Granja analisa a Poética da escrita jornalística em Machado de Assis, passando pelas crônicas do Diário do Rio de Janeiro e O Cruzeiro, alguns contos e o romance Memórias Póstumas de Brás Cubas. No hipertexto do periódico cotidiano, a circulação e a hiperligação constantes das formas textuais criaram parâmetros de referencialidade e literaridade deslizantes, que mimetizou e com os quais dialogou a obra de nosso maior escritor. A partir das crônicas, a autora demonstra os procedimentos e os recursos textuais na gênese do narrador machadiano revelado nos romances da fase madura do Bruxo do Cosme Velho.

Boka presenterer nedslag i en lang litteraturhistorisk linje, fra Ludvig Holberg til Camara Lundestad Joof, for å undersøke hvordan den kulturelle og politiske eliten gjennom historien har samlet diskursiv makt, og hvordan minoriserte grupper har respondert. Skjønnlitteratur og sakprosa har begge vært viktige våpen i denne maktkampen. Forfatterne tar opp ekskluderings- og inkluderingsprosesser rettet mot ulike grupper som innvandrere, kvinner, samer, homofile og jøder. Gjennom å løfte fram flere minoriserte stemmer ønsker forfatterne å nyansere mangfoldet i mangfoldet; flere av tekstene de drøfter her, vitner om interseksjonalitet, hvor flere identiteter overlapper i ett og samme individ.

    Description: Neste livro, Francisco Cláudio Alves Marques examina a participação do imigrante italiano no processo de urbanização paulista nos anos de 1920, no qual se misturavam trabalhadores de procedências diversas, como o escravo recém-liberto, o caipira e o imigrante italiano vindo da zona rural, todos “desenraizados” no espaço ou no tempo. É dessa perspectiva que o autor procura compreender as caricaturas elaboradas por Juó Bananére e António de Alcântara Machado, considerando-as mais do que manifestação de rejeição ou acolhimento do imigrante, mas expressão do papel desse contingente nas transformações por que passava o País no período em que se discutia a configuração da identidade nacional. Para lançar luz sobre a representação do imigrante italiano nas obras daqueles dois escritores paulistas, a autor considera aspectos históricos, sociológicos e culturais implicados no processo imigratório do início do século XX. Partindo da caracterização da personagem macarrônica, nos planos gráfico e linguístico, o autor chega a possíveis sentidos do efeito cômico dessa caricatura na percepção do papel do imigrante italiano na constituição da sociedade brasileira, aspecto que enseja sutil contraste com o nacionalismo na obra de Alcântara Machado.

    Description: "Shame is a deeply problematic emotion that causes much trouble and pain in our lives, interrupting our immediate mode of being in the world and making us feel bad about who we are. Nevertheless, we use it in many contexts to discipline others, impede personal development, regulate participation in communities, and instil in others commonly accepted norms and values. All these uses of shame suggest to some that it is a phenomenon with positive attributes, despite its darker sides. Many who study shame do so from the vantage point of a single scholarly discipline. This book is an exception. Its authors approach shame from multiple perspectives, seeking a more nuanced picture of its various roles in human life and its impact on social interaction.
