    Smart city tra competitività urbana e vocazione turistica (2023)

    Beschreibung: The interest in urban tourism has been topical in the field of socio-geographical studies since 1980. However, already early studies tended to separate scholars involved in tourism and those in urban planning. This division is not logic given that the World Tourism Organization in the Economic Review of World Tourism reported in the 1970s the growing demand for tourist destinations in cities. Nonetheless, a real contribution from scientific research to the issues arisen by tourism on the cities’ organization has been achieved yet. The study does not aim to fill this gap but does encourage the analysis of tourism as an integrated phenomenon in the process of governing urban and territorial transformations It is no longer an external force but a part of the everyday urban activity. . The separation between “the place of work” (city) and the “place of leisure” (outside the city) has characterized the approaches of tourism research for the last thirty years. Based on this theoretical framework, this monograph illustrates the recent evolutions of tourism in its relationship with cities, confronting the challenges faced by cities, revisiting the Smart City paradigm applied to the tourist destination. It also presents an insightful perspective on the lights and shadows of urban tourism.

    Beschreibung: L’interesse per il turismo urbano, soprattutto nell’ambito degli studi di matrice socio-geografica, risale alla seconda metà del secolo scorso. Tuttavia, già nei primi lavori scientifici si evidenziava una separazione tra chi si occupava di turismo senza considerare la città e viceversa. Lo studio presentato in questo volume analizza il turismo quale fenomeno integrato nel processo di trasformazione della città. Rivisitando il paradigma della Smart City applicato alla destinazione turistica, il lavoro si pone l’obiettivo di evidenziare luci ed ombre della relazione turismo-città nell’ottica della competitività urbana.

    Beschreibung: In the academic world, teaching is an educational experience that is not limited to the transfer of knowledge alone, but integrates with laboratory activities, especially in the training of building engineer or building-architect. In this way, each student has the opportunity to measure their aptitudes for design. The projects of socio-parish complexes, developed in the academic year 2021-2022, by the students of the Technical Architecture course, enrolled in the second year of the Building Engineering degree course at the University of Naples Federico II, are reported in this book. This work provides the opportunity to formulate reflections on laboratory teaching, in which the project is presented as a challenge launched by the teacher, shared by the tutors and taken up by the students. This "formative moment" was a strong, meaningful and engaging experience, until it converged into an exhibition set up at the parish of San Vitale Martire in Fuorigrotta, on 28 and 29 May 2022, on the occasion of the Festa dell'Approdo di San Paul. To the gratification of all the authors, the possibility of the citizens of the entire district of Fuorigrotta was added, the academic work taking it outside the university environments.

    Beschreibung: La didattica nella realtà accademica è un’esperienza formativa che non si limita al trasferimento di conoscenze, ma, specialmente nella formazione dell’ingegnere edile o edile-architetto, si integra con la cosiddetta didattica laboratoriale, in cui ogni studente ha l’occasione di misurare le proprie attitudini alla progettazione. Questo lavoro, nel raccogliere progetti di complessi socio-parrocchiali, sviluppati dagli allievi della cattedra di Architettura Tecnica, iscritti al secondo anno del corso di laurea Ingegneria Edile-Architettura dell’Università di Napoli Federico II, nell’anno accademico 2021-2022, fornisce l’occasione di formulare riflessioni sulla didattica laboratoriale, in cui il progetto si pone come una vera e propria sfida lanciata dal docente, condivisa dai tutor e raccolta dagli allievi. Questo “momento formativo” è stata un’esperienza forte, pregnante e coinvolgente, fino a confluire in una mostra allestita presso la parrocchia di San Vitale Martire a Fuorigrotta ,nei giorni 28 e 29 maggio 2022, in occasione della Festa dell’Approdo di San Paolo. Alla gratificazione di tutti gli attori, si è aggiunta la possibilità di condividere con i cittadini dell’intera circoscrizione di Fuorigrotta, il lavoro accademico portandolo fuori dalle mura dell’Università.

    Beschreibung: Paolo Panceri (Milan 1836 - Naples 1877) was one of the most appreciated naturalists of his time. Above all, his research on the luminescence of marine animals made him famous throughout the world. When in 1860 he won the competition for the chair of Comparative Anatomy, newly established in Italy, he preferred the University of Naples to those of Pavia and Bologna. In Naples, his "second homeland", he founded the Museum of Comparative Anatomy and helped, although not a Darwinist, Darwin's follower Anton Dohrn to obtain from the Municipality the land of the Royal Villa, on which the building of the Zoological Station would be built and finally inaugurated in 1875. When he died prematurely, his friend and colleague Emilio Cornalia remembered him with these words: «Tall in person, with brown eyes and hair, with a sweet and insinuating speech, with a reserved and modest demeanor, with a smile on his lips, he was one of those nice men who make themselves immediately understood and loved, and who so rarely meet in the human crowd." This volume retraces Panceri's life: his youthful education in Milan, his studies and early research in Pavia, his relationships with Naples, his friendships inside and outside the academic world, his troubled sentimental affairs, the two trips he made to Egypt over the years 1872-1874.

    Beschreibung: Paolo Panceri (Milano 1836 - Napoli 1877) fu uno dei più apprezzati naturalisti del suo tempo. Soprattutto le sue ricerche sulla luminescenza degli animali marini lo resero famoso in tutto il mondo. Quando nel 1860 vinse il concorso per la cattedra di Anatomia comparata, appena istituita in Italia, preferì l’Università di Napoli a quelle di Pavia e Bologna. A Napoli, sua «seconda patria», fondò il Museo di Anatomia comparata e aiutò, benché non darwinista, il seguace di Darwin Anton Dohrn a ottenere dal Comune i terreni della Villa reale, sui quali sarebbe sorto l’edificio della Stazione zoologica, inaugurata nel 1875. Quando morì prematuramente, il suo amico e collega Emilio Cornalia lo ricordò con queste parole: «Alto nella persona, dagli occhi e dai capelli bruni, dalla parola dolce e insinuante, dal contegno riserbato e modesto, dal sorriso sulle labbra, era uno di quei simpatici uomini che si fanno subito comprendere ed amare, e che tanto di rado si incontrano nella folla umana». Questo volume ripercorre la vita di Panceri: la formazione giovanile a Milano, gli studi e le prime ricerche a Pavia, i rapporti con Napoli, le amicizie dentro e fuori il mondo accademico, le tribolate vicende sentimentali, i due viaggi compiuti in Egitto negli anni 1872-1874.

    Beschreibung: Cultural heritage is not just something from the past, but always also reflects contemporary needs and desires. In the Traces of the Cold War describes the making of a diverse and innovative Swedish military heritage. The book shows how memories and material remains from a period characterized by fear and geopolitical tensions are infused with new meanings when bunkers, decommissioned military facilities and technology are transformed into luxury housing, attractive tourist destinations and museum exhibitions. Through field-visits to military heritage sites across Sweden, the authors examine what material objects, narratives and emotions that today represent the Cold War. These examinations show how military structures and equipment from a time associated with threat and danger become captivating elements of the cultural heritage, while also communicating specific ideas regarding security and protection. In the Traces of the Cold War takes a novel approach to cultural heritage by relating collective memory-making to security policy. Based on theoretical perspectives from critical heritage studies (CHS) and feminist international relations (IR), the analysis focuses on constructions of national belonging and underlines the role of gender and sexuality in narrations of security and protection. In a democracy, the subject of military violence must always be a matter of ethical and political conversations. Setting out from this assumption, the authors critically discuss how Cold War heritagisation produces militarization as “natural” and necessary. The book invites reflection on how history is written as well as on what the requirements are for a safe and secure society. In the Traces of the Cold War presents the results from an interdisciplinary research project. The authors are all researchers at Stockholm University and have written the book together.

    Beschreibung: The dominant vision in our societies seems to conceive of life as a capital with which each individual would be endowed, as a collection of credits and skills that must be enhanced to produce performances characterized by ever greater speed, impact, and efficiency. Everything seems designed to increase a life of which we would be the masters, whose progress or regression can be evaluated according to quantitative criteria, in order to compare different lives and obtain the best possible selection. Thus, techniques are spreading everywhere that aim to enhance life, to make it more productive, while companies and institutions profit from every aspect of it. A frenzy that turns into its opposite, into a paradoxical sacrifice of life, into the loss of democratic control, of planning that looks to the future – as the pandemic and the war in Ukraine show us, revealing the limits of enhancement practices, the fragility of life, the inextricable connection between our lives, their belonging to a larger life of the species. If these events are the result of the ways in which life has been instituted, then, in these times when all of humanity is faced with health, war, and ecological challenges, the ‘phenomenon life’ should perhaps be rethought at its root, as an encounter rather than a competition, as recognition, as a communication.

    Beschreibung: La visione dominante nelle nostre società sembra intendere la vita come un capitale di cui ogni individuo sarebbe dotato, collezione di crediti e skill che deve essere valorizzata per produrre performance caratterizzate da sempre maggiore rapidità, impatto, efficienza. Tutto sembra pensato per incrementare una vita di cui noi saremmo padroni, i cui progressi o regressi possono essere valutati secondo criteri quantitativi, per poter comparare le differenti vite e ottenere la migliore selezione possibile. Così si diffondono ovunque tecniche che si propongono di potenziare la vita, di renderla maggiormente produttiva, mentre imprese e istituzioni ne mettono a profitto ogni aspetto. Una frenesia che si rovescia nel suo contrario, in un paradossale sacrificio della vita, nella perdita di un controllo democratico, di una pianificazione che guarda al futuro. Come ci dimostrano la pandemia e la Guerra in Ucraina, che hanno rivelato i limiti delle pratiche di potenziamento, la fragilità della vita, la connessione inestricabile fra le nostre vite, la loro co-appartenenza a una più grande vita della specie. Se questi eventi sono il frutto delle modalità in cui la vita è stata istituita, allora, in questi tempi in cui tutta l’umanità è messa di fronte a sfide di carattere sanitario, bellico, ecologico, il fenomeno vita va forse ripensato alla radice, come incontro più che come competizione, come riconoscimento, comunicazione.

    Beschreibung: This study examines young Simmel’s reflections on social-historical knowledge and philosophy of history. I compare these reflections to three models of post-Hegelian thought: Moritz Lazarus and Heymann Steinthal’s Völkerpsychologie, Wilhelm Dilthey’s Historismus, and Wilhelm Windelband’s Neo-Kantianism. From different perspectives, these three authors tried to justify a scientific approach to cultural and social phenomena, considering the speculative philosophy of history obsolete because it was overtaken by the development of particular sciences since the early 19th century. Even if the old speculative philosophy of history had collapsed, the rejection of metaphysics’ legacy proved to be a challenging task. This legacy reappears in the post-Hegelian models of thought, showing how the philosophy of history (which seemed to be dead) still expresses the human need for meaning. A human need that urges to find expression. Simmel’s work, “The Problems of Philosophy of History” (1892), examines the persistence of the philosophy of history and its changing function. Philosophy of history no longer represents the story of a guaranteed salvation but expresses philosophically the problems that are constantly renewed by the people who live history.

    Beschreibung: Questo studio è dedicato alle riflessioni del giovane Georg Simmel (1858-1918) sulla conoscenza storico-sociale e sulla filosofia della storia, rapportandole a tre modelli del pensiero post-hegeliano: la Völkerpsychologie di Moritz Lazarus e Heymann Steinthal; l’Historismus di Wilhelm Dilthey e il neokantismo di Wilhelm Windelband. Questi autori avevano cercato di giustificare una trattazione scientifica dei fenomeni culturali e sociali da prospettive diverse, considerando la filosofia della storia speculativa superata dal rigoglioso sviluppo delle scienze particolari che si era prodotto dall’inizio del XIX secolo. Ma anche se la vecchia filosofia della storia di stampo speculativo era ormai crollata, il pieno congedo dall’eredità della metafisica restava ancora un compito difficile da assolvere. Quest’eredità riemerge nei grandi modelli della riflessione post-hegeliana, dimostrando quanto la filosofia della storia sbrigativamente data per morta continui a esprimere un bisogno umano di senso che chiede di giungere a espressione. Sotto questa luce, l’opera di Simmel dedicata a I problemi della filosofia della storia (1892) appare come un’indagine sulla persistenza della filosofia della storia e sul suo mutamento di funzione. Quest’ultima non è più la narrazione di una salvezza garantita, ma l’espressione filosofica di problemi che gli esseri umani viventi nella storia continuamente rinnovano.

    Beschreibung: During an era in which the main form of recognition would seem to be entrusted to the screen, Jean Baudrillard’s reflections offer extremely useful interpretative tools to understand the neo-existence of the screened individual. According to the French philosopher, the simulation, as a codification of entities in a data flow, can be interpreted as a informatic potlatch, a ritual shortcircuit, fueled by the consumption of bits as the ultimate guarantee of persistence. This practice would envelop the entire society in a claustrophobic suspension, smoothing out any possibility of contact, bringing out the user as a transmission channel of an empty signifier: the digital code. The surface of the screen, exposing a sort of ontological indigestion between the individual and his digital projection, would find its own matrix in the intersection between the metaphysical problem and the political question through the figure of the hostage. The screen-society, from the shining call to entertainment, would turn upside down in a saving form of disappearance, reconfiguring a world in which the antiquated shadows of reality would have sharpened into ghosts that had become more real than reality, hyperreal. Precisely starting from this fissure, from this mingling of virtuality and reality, that seems to emerge the urgency of a thought that, as Baudrillard wanted, can transmit the resistance of an elusive singularity.

    Beschreibung: In un’epoca in cui la principale forma di riconoscimento sembrerebbe demandata allo schermo, le riflessioni di Jean Baudrillard offrono strumenti interpretativi quanto mai utili per tentare di comprendere la neo-esistenza dell’individuo schermato. Secondo il filosofo francese, la simulazione, in quanto ritrascrizione degli enti in un flusso di dati, sarebbe assimilabile ad una sorta di potlatch informatico, un cortocircuito rituale, alimentato dal consumo di bits quale ultima garanzia di persistenza. Tale pratica avvolgerebbe l’intera società in una sospensione claustrofobica, levigandone ogni possibilità di contatto, facendo riemergere l’user come canale di trasmissione di un significante privo di significato: il codice digitale. Ecco allora che la superficie dello schermo, esponendo una sorta di indigestione ontologica tra l’individuo e la sua proiezione digitale, rinverrebbe la propria matrice nell’intersezione tra il versante metafisico e il versante politico attraverso la figura dell’ostaggio. Lo schermo-società, da lustro richiamo alla distensione e all’intrattenimento, si capovolgerebbe in salvifica forma di scomparsa, riconfigurando un mondo in cui le antiquate ombre della realtà si sarebbero acuite in fantasmi divenuti più reali del reale, iperreali. Ed è a partire da questa fenditura, da questa commistione tra virtuale e reale, che verrebbe a porsi l’urgenza di un pensiero che, come voleva Baudrillard, possa farsi messaggero della resistenza di una singolarità inafferrabile.

    Beschreibung: This study of Christoph Sigwart's (1830-1904) most ambitious philosophical work focuses on a model of transcendental logic. A model that does not conform to the Kantian one because it renounces attributing universality and necessity to the laws that establish a priori the transcendental conditions of knowledge. This model entails a different meaning of "transcendental" and "a priori" free of the need for special epistemic status. Woven into the very contingency that marks the results of empirical sciences, the ensuing logic of knowledge can provide an adequate critique of the mobility of these results. The choice to explore this possibility in the form of an analysis of Sigwart's Logik (1904) is motivated by the conviction that this work, freed from the constraints of the 20th-century debate, can offer an alternative to the dismissal of the project of a transcendental epistemology. But the Logik is also an access to the lively German post-Kantian laboratory that, at the turn of the twentieth century, produced a model of scientific philosophy that profoundly influenced the following epistemological debate. Hence, this study also aims to introduce the reader to the main epistemological issues addressed by Sigwart and the Kantian tradition to which Sigwart belongs.

Un'idea che non si conforma al modello kantiano, perché rinuncia ad attribuire universalità e necessità alle leggi che definiscono a priori le condizioni trascendentali della conoscenza. Un'idea che sviluppa un diverso significato di "trascendentale" e "a priori", privo dell'esigenza di uno statuto epistemico speciale rispetto a quello richiesto dalle altre scienze empiriche. Intrecciata nella stessa contingenza che caratterizza i risultati di queste scienze, una tale logica della conoscenza può approntare critiche adeguate alla mobilità di questi risultati. La scelta di esplorare questa possibilità proprio attraverso un'analisi della Logik (1904) è motivata dalla convinzione che questo lavoro, smarcato dalle pastoie del Novecento, sia in grado di offrire, oggi, un'alternativa alla dismissione del progetto di un'epistemologia in prospettiva trascendentale. Ma quest'opera è anche un accesso dimenticato al vivace laboratorio postkantiano che, nella Germania a cavallo tra XIX e XX secolo, produce un modello di filosofia scientifica che ha influenzato profondamente il successivo dibattito epistemologico. Questo studio si propone, quindi, anche di introdurre il lettore ai principali temi epistemologici affrontati da Sigwart e dalla tradizione kantiana a cui Sigwart appartiene.

    Beschreibung: A spectral and haunting figure, Oswald Spengler, with his main work (The Decline of the West) reappears on the scene every time the present is experienced as a moment of crisis or political, ideological, cultural transition. Even in our own time, there are references, researches, and articles that, although in different ways, all seem to be connected by a worried regard for his diagnoses. In the two parts of this study, is made an attempt to show, however, why Spengler cannot be evoked (or dismissed) as the anti-West. Rather, it is a matter of pointing out how the mimetic blurring with the positions of the alleged prophet of doom, in the name of the West's self-love and its exceptionalism, risks confirming the prognosis of the decline, testifying to the misery, or impotence, of the critique aimed at opposing its fulfilment.

    Beschreibung: Figura spettrale e inquietante, Oswald Spengler, con la sua opera principale (Il Tramonto dell'Occidente) ricompare sulla scena ogni volta che il presente è vissuto come momento di crisi o di transizione politica, ideologica, culturale. Pure nel nostro tempo non mancano richiami, ricerche, articoli che, sebbene in modi diversi, sembrano tutti accomunati dall'ascolto preoccupato delle sue diagnosi. Nelle due parti di questo studio, si prova a mostrare, tuttavia, perché Spengler non possa essere evocato (o scongiurato) come l’anti-Occidente. Ragozzino, R. Rinzivillo and E. Schettino. Brief notes on the biographical, human and scientific profile of Edvige Schettino introduce and complete the volume.
