    Description: Iconoclasmes, écriture figurée et théologie de l’Incarnation chez les poètes métaphysiques. Le cas de George Herbert. Cet ouvrage propose une nouvelle lecture de l'ouvre poétique de George Herbert (1593-1633), poète « métaphysique » et pasteur anglican. Il est replacé dans le contexte de l'iconoclasme anglais des 16e et 17e siècles, et dans celui de la crise plus fondamentale de l'image qui obsède l'âge baroque en Europe. La rhétorique et l'imaginaire iconoclastes sont au fondement du projet littéraire et religieux de Herbert, qui cherche à convertir et à purifier la poésie. Il contribue ainsi à façonner une nouvelle langue poétique et une pensée analogique paradoxalement fondées sur la résistance de l'image. Il s'agit de restaurer cette ressemblance de l'homme à Dieu qui semble avoir été perdue. La poésie aura pour tâche de la reconstruire intérieurement par une poétique efficace, dont le modèle absolu est la théologie de l'Incarnation, elle-même théologie de l'image.

    Description: This collection of critical essays concentrates on the renowned Finnish collage novel Aperitiff ‒ avoin kaupunki (Aperitiff, Open City) by Kari Aronpuro in its three editions (1965, 1978, 2015). The essays provide a theoretically wide-ranging and up-to-date introduction to Aperitiff but also to collage and the collage novel more generally. Aperitiff is approached from the viewpoints of source materials; information, media technologies, and conceptualism; facsimiles as images of writing; methodological and thematic humour and comedy; Situationist reading strategies; realist and neorealist cinema; and Aperitiff‘s relation to the contemporary Finnish experimental novel, especially to Neuromaani by Jaakko Yli-Juonikas. The collection also reprints Aronpuro’s early essay on the reception of Aperitiff, and extracts from the typescript of the novel’s second edition.
    Description: Tämä artikkelikokoelma on laajin Kari Aronpuron Aperitiff – avoin kaupunki -romaanin kolmea versiota (1965, 1978, 2015) käsittelevä teos. Kokoelma tarjoaa teoreettisesti monipuolisen ja otteeltaan tuoreen johdatuksen paitsi Aperitiffiin myös yleisemmin kollaasiromaanin edelleen ajankohtaiseen lajiin ja kollaasin käsitteeseen. Antologian kirjoittajien valitsemat näkökulmat kertovat Aperitiffin moniaineksisuudesta, moniulotteisuudesta ja monitulkintaisuudesta. Artikkeleissa inventoidaan ja kartoitetaan Aperitiffin laajoja aineistoja sekä konkreettisten lainausten että laajemman intertekstuaalisuuden näkökulmista. Aperitiffia käsitellään myös informaation ja mediateknologioiden kautta. Samalla romaani kytketään suuntaukseen, joka on ollut keskeinen Kari Aronpurolle 2000-luvulla: kirjalliseen konseptualismiin, käsitteelliseen tai ”epäluovaan” kirjoittamiseen. Artikkeleissa keskitytään lisäksi tekstikollaasille oleelliseen menetelmään, tekotapaan tai tyyppiin: faksimileen. Samalla puretaan sanan ja kuvan käsiteparia analysoimalla kirjoituksen itsensä kuvallisuutta, tyypittelemällä tekstikollaaseja faksimilen näkökulmasta sekä ottamalla huomioon kirjan sivun teknologiaa. Aiheena on myös Aperitiffin huumori ja komiikka metodisten ja temaattisten tekijöiden yhteisvaikutuksena. Kollaasit, tekstilainaukset ja -luettelot sekä teoksen ontologialla leikittely ovat romaanin omalaatuisen huumorin rakennusaineita. Aperitiffia luetaan niin ikään urbaanin suunnistamisen ja harhailun näkökulmasta, erityisesti hyödyntämällä Kansainvälisiltä Situationisteilta peräisin olevia käsitteitä. Aperitiffia lähestytään myös kuvallisuuden, erityisesti elokuvallisuuden kautta ja tarkastellaan sen yhteyksiä realismin ja neorealismin traditioihin sekä ”todellisuuden” esittämiseen liittyviin diskursseihin. Aperitiffin pitkittäisvaikutuksia suomalaisessa kirjallisuudessa tutkitaan Jaakko Yli-Juonikkaan Neuromaani-romaanin (2012) kautta, teosten julkaisuajankohtia ja rakennusperiaatteita vertaillen. Tämän luennan valossa moniaineksisten avantgarde-romaanien poetiikka näyttäytyy edelleen erittäin elin- ja ilmaisuvoimaisena. Antologian liitteenä on myös arkistoharvinaisuuksia: pienoisessee, jossa Aronpuro ruotii tuoreeltaan (marraskuussa 1965) romaaninsa vastaanottoa ja kommentoi omaa teostaan, sekä otteita toisen painoksen (1978) lisämateriaalien käsikirjoitusliuskoista.

    Description: In the current digital media environment, legacy newspapers and their readers are often regarded as obsolete. For media executives and many journalists, the future of news is exclusively digital. Given the economic uncertainties facing the industry, news producers’ eyes are focused on audience metrics and their capacity to shed light on readers' preferences. This book sets out to analyse news reading from the perspective of the audience. Employing interviews as well as the so called obsläs method, it examines how readers of two Finnish regional newspapers, Hämeen Sanomat and Karjalainen, navigate in three distinct architectures of the newspaper: printed, digital replica and online news application. The assumption underlying the analysis is that each of these user interfaces favour somewhat differing reading protocols and routines. The empirical analysis responds to the big question pondered by editors and publishers: Where are the readers? It appears that most of the participants of the study tended to move from one architecture to another depending on their contextual and situational needs. In this comparison, the strengths of a printed newspaper seemed evident for many, while the balance between the pros and cons of the digital environment was more mixed. In addition to reporting the findings of the empirical audience study, this book evaluates the future of newspapers in the context of economic statistics and media policies. While the newspaper business in Finland struggles with increasing costs and volatility of income, it may well rely on the robust newspaper reading culture among the Finnish reading public.

    Description: "Drawing on the debate on mediatization of politics this study identifies cultural meanings, institutional practices and styles of argumentation as three theoretical dimensions that illuminate both the construction of journalistic publicity and its potential uses in political action. Based on the theoretical model, environmental politics is identified as a specific context for mediatization. In environmental politics, the interplay of cultural meanings, institutional practices and styles of argumentation define the construction and use of journalistic publicity in a way that differs from other fields of politics. The empirical part of this study analyzes the newspaper coverage of three Finnish environmental conflicts from 1971, 1994 and 2012. The theoretical model is transformed into an analytical framework that focuses on discursive construction of the conflicts (cultural meanings), journalistic frames, narration and opinion-giving in the coverage of the conflicts and the publicity practices adopted by actors during the conflicts (institutional practices) and legitimation of arguments (styles of argumentation). According to this study, the relation between media and politics in the field of environmental politics is defined by the increasing cultural significance of environmental protection from the 1970s to the present. In the newspaper coverage of the three environmental conflicts studied, changes on the frames, narration and opinion-giving of journalism resonated with this cultural change. However, the significance of environmental protection in the framing, narration and opinion-giving of journalism was greater in the national newspaper studied compared to the local newspapers selected based on their proximity to the conflict sites. Styles of argumentation appeared to be more case dependent. The increasing cultural significance of environmental protection did not have a clear effect on how arguments were legitimated. "

    Description: Partant tout d'abord de l'examen des formes et du fonctionnement du genre d'expression privilégié par Alberti, le dialogue, l'auteur s'attache à caractériser le regard que celui-ci porte sur les liens fondamentaux de la société de son temps. Ainsi sont analysés la relation conjugale, qui pose le problème de l'image double et contradictoire de la femme selon l'espace au sein duquel elle se trouve représentée, la relation entre pères et fils tout comme le modèle d'éducation qu'elle postule et enfin, le lien unissant l'institution familiale et la cité. Ce dernier point laisse envisager les rapports d'Alberti lui-même avec le pouvoir politique, saisi dans une perspective évolutive suivant les importantes mutations institutionnelles alors opérées. Toujours soucieux de soustraire son discours à un dogmatisme sévère et figé, c'est à travers un subtil jeu de masques, puissamment servi par le dialogue, qu'Alberti approche les différentes facettes d'une réalité ainsi soumise aux constantes variations du point de vue. Cette étude montre le génie de cet humaniste à "mettre en scène" la contradiction qu'il érige en véritable méthode d'investigation du réel, prouvant son parfait contrôle de la légendaire ambiguïté emblématique de tout son système de pensée.

    Description: Qu'elle soit une valeur, un mythe, une idéologie moderne ou la garante d'un nouveau réalisme libre de toute idéologie, la singularité est toujours un parti-pris. Ainsi la singularité du Robinson de Defoe fait-elle oublier l'invraisemblance psychologique flagrante de sa performance solitaire et forge-t-elle le rêve démiurgique moderne de l'individu auto-suffisant et autonome. Le parti pris peut être nominaliste - car le nominalisme (Occam, Mauthner, Stirner, Nietzsche…) ne connaît d'objets que particuliers -, subjectiviste (Rousseau, Goethe…), esthétique (Huysmans, Wilde, Barrès…), nationaliste (Barrès encore…) ou prendre la forme d'une stigmatisation assimilant génie et folie, exception et idiotie… Les Figures de la singularité explorent l'aspect nominaliste jusque dans ses variantes « quelconques » (Clément Rosset, G. Agamben) et la philosophie du sujet de l'époque idéaliste jusque dans ses conséquences solipsistes (Fichte). Elles s'intéressent à la singularité biographique et narrative de l'époque moderne et à la diversité de ses incarnations : artistes créateurs d'eux-mêmes, rebelles, dissidents… Comme aurait dit Nietzsche, c'est un thème pour chacun et personne, au croisement de la philosophie, de la littérature et de l'imaginaire collectif.

    Description: C'est à Prague que le jeune ethnographe russe Pëtr Grigor'evič Bogatyrëv (1893- 1971), qui a fait partie avec Roman Jakobson des fondateurs du Cercle linguistique de Moscou, développe dans les années 1920 et 1930 une série de chantiers originaux qui concernent l'ethnographie rurale et l'étude du théâtre populaire. Ce volume propose une série de textes de cette période qui concernent les actes magiques, le costume populaire, la géographie ou les signes du théâtre et qu'éclairent les contributions de collègues français, allemands, suisses, russes et canadiens. L'oeuvre de Bogatyrëv est particulièrement évocatrice de la richesse des rencontres intellectuelles praguoises de l'entre-deux-guerres, dont le Cercle de Prague fut le fruit et l'illustration la plus célèbre. Marquée par les traditions ethnographiques russes mais aussi par le contact avec les formalistes, les héritiers de l'esthétique néo-herbartienne tchèque, la Volkskunde allemande de l'époque et les travaux de la linguistique et de l'ethnologie françaises, elle permet une approche transnationale de la genèse du premier structuralisme. Le dépassement des frontières nationales qui caractérise ces rencontres praguoises s'accompagne également d'un dépassement des séparations entre, d'un côté, formes artistiques populaires, en apparence « archaïques » et, de l'autre, formes artistiques urbaines et avant-gardistes, ainsi qu'entre discours théorique et pratique artistique.

    Description: Participatory approaches and co-research are increasingly employed in the current moment for exploring barriers to equality. Co-research treats research participants as experts in their own lives and as equal research partners. Research conducted with this orientation is based on research problems drafted by the research participants themselves from their aspirations regarding the research process and an active partnership that considers the interests of all parties involved. Participatory methods are used in co-research, particularly for the purpose of deepening the contextualisation of research knowledge about structurally vulnerable or subordinated groups and to challenge the power positions associated with traditional research designs. In co-research, the role of the people involved in the research is more central than in more traditional research. One of the key principles of co-research is that co-investigators (a) can participate in various roles, (b) have the opportunity to participate in different phases of the research according to their own interests and resources, and (c) co-investigators' participation can take many forms, including differences in intensity. The idea is to provide more people with opportunities to contribute to the knowledge production about themselves and their communities from their respective perspectives and interests. Co-research is also seen as an opportunity to improve the relevance and usefulness of scientific knowledge. It aims to genuinely increase interaction and openness and extend science's societal responsibility. In this book, we approach co-research as a means to promote social justice, as an action with a societal impact contributor to social impact and as a means to promote the societal responsibility of science. We discuss and evaluate the ideals of the co-research process concerning the everyday challenges and practices in research. Above all, we offer the knowledge and experience generated by our own projects to support those planning or already implementing co-research projects.
