    Description: This edited book continues the discussion on curriculum, which began in 2017 with the authors’ previous work – the first book on Curriculum Studies in Finnish. The articles are divided into four thematic sets, the common denominator of which is the concern about the drifting of the comprehensive democratic German and Nordic Bildung/Didactic curriculum tradition into the narrower, competence and skills driven Anglo-American education and curriculum, shaped by the paradoxical alliance of assumedly apolitical instrumental learning theories and neoliberal policy measures.
    Description: Tämä artikkelikokoelma jatkaa keskustelua, joka käynnistyi vuonna 2017 julkaistussa ensimmäisessä suomenkielisessä opetussuunnitelmatutkimusta käsittelevässä teoksessa. Kirjan artikkelit jakaantuvat neljään teemakokonaisuuteen. Käsiteltyjä teemoja yhdistää huoli saksalais-pohjoiseurooppalaisen Bildung/Didaktiikka -opetussuunnitelmatradition ajautumisesta entistä ahtaammalle oppimisteorioiden jäsentämän, taitoihin ja kompetensseihin rajoittuvan, näennäisesti epäpoliittisen angloamerikkalaisen curriculum-opetussuunnitelmatradition sekä sen poliittisen aisaparin, uusliberalismin, puristuksessa.

    Description: Participatie’ werd, in de nasleep van 1968, een sleutelwoord in architectuur, stedenbouw en ruimtelijke ordening in Vlaanderen en Brussel. Sindsdien zijn processen van medezeggenschap, inspraak en coproductie min of meer ingeburgerd in ontwerp- en planningspraktijken. Het enthousiasme voor deze processen is aan wisselende invloeden onderhevig en participatie staat dus lang niet altijd centraal in de feitelijke beslissingsstromen. Dit boek documenteert deze golfbewegingen aan de hand van historische overzichten, gevalstudies, interviews en kritische reflecties. Daarbij wordt nagedacht over de rol van actoren, de kracht van het ontwerp en het belang van (de) politiek. De wetenschappelijke inzichten en praktijkgebaseerde beschouwingen rond de drie grote participatiegolven van 1968 tot nu ronden af met een prospectieve kijk op participatieve benaderingen en een kritische reflectie op toekomstige sociaal-politieke uitdagingen.     Description: The market of political consulting and lobbying from the perspective of Polish and German parliamentarians. The number of forms, contexts and actors of policy advice and lobbying has grown over the years to such an extent that the problem of diffuse boundaries between these processes, and of capturing the specificity of the market that they form, gains in both theoretical and practical importance. This study is based on interviews with members of parliament: the Polish Sejm and the German Bundestag and concentrates on the question about how the market for political advice and lobbying is perceived by the very addressees. The comparative perspective is multi-layered and includes the cognitive, affective and normative dimensions. The image that emerges as a result offers a starting point for a discussion on the role of decision makers (who not only take part in the processes of our concern but also co-shape their regulatory framework) and on the features of a mature market of policy advice and lobbying, including mechanisms that favorably affect it.

    Description: After a wave of privatizations in the end of the 1990s, the electrical power supply of many municipalities in Germany has been returned into public hands. Many municipalities discover chances and possibilities for local action, which arise with remunicipalisation. The local policy-makers realize that remunicipalisation offers the opportunity of implementing an independent energy policy at local level which is critical in creating a transformation to a sustainable energy system based on energy efficiency and renewable energies. This scoping study provides an introduction to the topic of establishing municipal utilities in Germany. The findings of the authors' study provide important new insights into the possibilities to decentralise and democratise the German power sector. The findings were identified on the basis of a comprehensive screening of all newly established municipal utilities in Germany. As most network concession contracts in Germany expire by 2016, there has now existed a window of opportunity to rebuild the local energy supply. As a result, 72 new local power companies were established in Germany within just seven years (between early 2005 and late 2012). The results of this unique study will inform about details regarding regional concentration, the size of municipalities, the legal forms of the newly founded municipal public utility and the role of strategic partnerships. Furthermore, the founding of 72 municipal utilities since 2005 leads us to ask for the reasons. The study reviews the German trend towards municipal ownership of local utilities, assessing their performance based on 10 targets related to the energy transition, climate protection, and the local economic impact. Based on expert opinions, the study finds out that the likelihood of these targets being reached is "high to very high". The Japanese translation of the scoping study is completed by a foreword by Prof. Dr. Jörg Raupach-Sumiya (Professor, College of Business Administration, Ritsumeikan University) highlighting the importance of this study for Japan's energy policy.
