    Description: En este libro se abordan algunas de las formas en las que la desigualdad social y la estigmatización, racialización e invisibilización de la pobreza se legitiman a través de la prensa hegemónica. Reúne artículos que presentan parte de los resultados de las investigaciones llevadas a cabo en Argentina, Brasil y Colombia en el marco del proyecto POLAME (Poverty, Language and Media –Pobreza, Lenguaje y Medios–) financiado por la cooperación noruega. Los autores pertenecen al equipo de este proyecto salvo el caso de Marcela Toro, articulista invitada. El objetivo del proyecto POLAME fue detectar las expresiones lingüísticas usadas en la prensa de cuatro países indo/latinoamericanos (Brasil, Argentina, Colombia y México), palabras, vocabulario, nociones, conceptos, atributos sobre la pobreza y sus representaciones, partiendo del supuesto de que, como formadora de opinión, la prensa hegemónica reproduce concepciones, creencias e ideologías sobre la pobreza.

    Description: O Grupo de Trabalho Economia Política da Informação, da Comunicação e da Cultura (EPICC) da CLACSO representa um campo de estudos interdisciplinar que se desenvolveu no interior da área de Comunicação de forma independente em diferentes lugares do mundo. Na América Latina, três países se destacam, México, Brasil e Argentina, mas outras contribuições importantes são reconhecidas desde os anos setenta e mesmo antes, quando, no interior das chamadas teorias da dependência cultural, a crítica da economia política já se insinuava como fundamento importante para se pensar a organização dos meios de comunicação. O grupo está empenhado em trazer ao seleto público que acompanha as publicações da CLACSO, produções que de alguma forma marcaram o desenvolvimento da EPC latino-americana. O livro que aqui apresentamos é um dos frutos desse esforço de recuperação histórica.

Este libro quiere contribuir a entender qué ha pasado en Brasil para que podamos luchar y organizarnos mejor para garantizar el legítimo regreso de Dilma Rousseff a la presidencia de la república. También, para que la izquierda pueda enfrentar los inmensos desafíos que esta experiencia truculenta nos deja como lección.

    Description: Como podrá advertir el lector, la presente publicación se ha construido desde campos del conocimiento muy diversos y ha constituido un intento de poner en diálogo distintas perspectivas teóricas para dar cuenta de las palabras y las nociones con las que se conceptualiza la pobreza en la prensa de cuatro importantes países latinoamericanos. La heterogeneidad en los enfoques y los modos de tratamiento de la problemática constituye, desde nuestra perspectiva, una de las principales fortalezas de este trabajo. Consideramos que la complejidad de los fenómenos que abordamos requiere de aproximaciones que eviten simplificaciones y reduccionismos y den cuenta de los debates ideológicos y epistemológicos en torno a lo que constituye el problema más relevante en nuestros países.

    Description: La situación de la comunicación indígena en el plano internacional, nacional y local es altamente preocupante, por ello el presente libro busca, primero, visibilizar la situación en que viven y llevan a cabo su quehacer las y los comuni­cadores indígenas y afrodescendientes de Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, México, Nicaragua y Venezuela. Segundo, poner al alcance los conocimientos de algunos instrumentos legales tanto nacionales como internacionales, así como estadísticas e información derivada dede las mismas comunidades, colectivos, confederaciones y movimientos miembros de la Coordinadora Latinoamericana de Cine y Comunicación de los Pueblos Indígenas (Clacpi). Tercero, abonar al fortalecimiento y la protección de nues­tro derecho a la comunicación.
