Beschreibung / Inhaltsverzeichnis: Barmer basin -- Deccan Traps -- Lesser Himalaya -- Ladakh Himalaya -- Aravalli.
Kurzfassung: This book presents more than 600 eye-catching structural geological photographs and explanatory descriptions, from different Indian terrains. This book will enable easy identification of deformation features, one of the most important tasks in structural geology at the meso- and micro-scales. The book focuses on ductile and brittle shear sense indicators. This book suits for the undergraduate and graduate geoscience students. The book will be of considerable interest to tectonicians and structural geologists, given the enormous international importance of Indian terrains for exploration and other purposes.

Modeling Potential: Minimal Economic Resource Parameters -- Chapter 5. Gold -- Chapter 6. Bauxite -- Chapter 7. Base metals -- Chapter 8. Other Metallic Minerals -- Chapter 9. Critical Raw Materials -- Chapter 10. Other Minerals -- Chapter 11. Looking ahead.
Kurzfassung: This book summarizes the exploration history and provides a framework for assessing the economic potential of the country’s minerals by defining minimal deposit parameters for the various commodities present. Suriname was explored extensively for mineral occurrences in the course of the previous century, indicating the presence of a range of commodities. The country mined and processed bauxite for a century (until 2016), and has an even longer history of small-scale alluvial gold mining; it is currently home to two major gold producers. However, exploration activities have been limited during the past 4 decades as most parts of Suriname’s interior are difficult to access, making geological fieldwork both difficult and expensive. Further, the markets and prices have changed in the interim, which calls for a fresh look at the historic data. .

    Beschreibung / Inhaltsverzeichnis: 1.Slate in architecture -- 2.The origin of slate -- 3.Methodology and standards -- 4.Properties of slate -- 5.Weathering of slate -- 6.Mining of slate and production -- 7.Slate deposits.
Kurzfassung: This book offers a comprehensive review devoted exclusively to slate as dimension stone. Beginning with a description of the slate as dimension stone, the book describes the origin of slate and related geological phenomena. It thoroughly explains key data acquisition methods and techniques, which are accompanied by extensive data. In turn, slate standards are introduced and compared with regard to their importance for product quality. The book covers in detail the specific petrographical, fabric, strength, physical properties and weathering behaviour of slates. The chapter on mining and production provides an overview of the different forms of exploitation and related geotechnical aspects, together with production and workflow design, from the beginning to the final product. The second part comprises a thorough description of worldwide slate deposits and their geology, properties and appearance as well as a brief introduction of the history. Given its scope and accessible format, the book represents an essential guide for scientists, engineers, and professionals in geology, conservation science, architecture, and mining, as well as readers who are active in the slate industry.

    Schlagwort(e): Geology. ; Mineralogy. ; Paleontology . ; Geology. ; Mineralogy. ; Paleontology.
Kurzfassung: This volume provides an overview and tour (with many interesting stops along the way) of Devonian and Ordovician intraplate magmatism and associated sedimentary rocks and tectonics in the regions of Kuznetsk Alatau, Minusinsk Basin and Khakassia in western Siberia. All chapters were written by experts, many of which have been studying these regions for decades. The first book to present and review this information in English for an international audience, it includes both overviews of the magmatic and associated sedimentary history, and selected key field sites, which are described in detail.

Beschreibung / Inhaltsverzeichnis: History of the Geological Research in Egypt -- Precambrian Geology of Egypt -- Structural and tectonic framework of Neoproterozoic basement of Egypt: from gneiss domes to transpression belts -- Crustal Evolution of the Precambrian rocks of Egypt -- The Precambrian metamorphic belts of Egypt -- Tectonics and Structural Evolution of Egypt -- Red Sea Tectonics -- Paleozoic Geology of Egypt -- Mesozoic Geology of Egypt -- Paleogene Geology of Egypt -- Neogene Geology of Egypt -- Quaternary Geology of Egypt -- Egyptian Vertebrate Paleontology -- Egyptian Impact Crater(s) and Meteorites -- Mineral Resources in Egypt (I): Metallic Ore Depoists -- Mineral Resources in Egypt (II): Non-Metallic Ore Depoists -- Hydrocarbon Resources in Egypt -- Water Resources in Egypt -- Seismicity, Seismotectonics and Neotectonics.
Kurzfassung: This richly illustrated book offers a concise overview of the geology of Egypt in the context of the geology of the Arab Region and Northeast Africa. An introductory chapter on history of geological research in Egypt sheds much light on the stages before and after the establishment of Egyptian Geological Survey (the second oldest geological survey worldwide), Hume's book and Said's 1962, 1990 books. The book starts with the Precambrian geology of Egypt, in terms of lithostratigraphy and classifications, structural and tectonic framework, crustal evolution and metamorphic belts. A dedicated chapter discusses the Paleozoic-Mesozoic-Cenozoic tectonics and structural evolution of Egypt. A chapter highlights the Red Sea tectonics and the Gulf of Suez and Gulf of Aqaba Rifts. Subsequent chapters address the Phanerozoic geology from Paleozoic to Quaternary. The Egyptian Impact Crater(s) and Meteorites are dealt with in a separate chapter. The Earth resources in Egypt, including metallic and non-metallic ore deposits, hydrocarbon and water resources, are given much more attention throughout four chapters. The last chapter addresses the seismicity, seismotectonics and neotectonics of Egypt.

Beschreibung / Inhaltsverzeichnis: The Research History of the Puchezh-Katunki Structure -- Geological Framework of the Impact Site -- Interior Structure and Composition of Impact-generated and Impact-transformed -- Processes of Transformations of Crystalline Rocks of the Central Uplift -- Dynamic Modeling of the Puchezh-Katunki Impact Structure.
Kurzfassung: This book presents essential data on the geology of the Puchezh-Katunki crater – an early Jurassic crater located on the East European Platform, with an impact structure that is ca. 80 km in diameter. Offering a comprehensive guide, it reviews the studies carried out during the last several decades on this prominent but not well-known impact structure. It offers the international community state-of-the-art information on the crater with regard to e.g. structural mapping, drilling (including the Vorotilovo well, which is 5374 m deep), geophysical research, and the petrological analysis of impactites and various breccias. In addition, the book includes new results from the mineralization and crystallizations beneath this large impact crater, and suggests new models for crater formations.
