2. Plexus chorioidei.
Notes:
Summary The temporal uptake of DANS-L-Phenylalanine by the ependyma, the choroid plexus and the brain was examined with fluorescence microscopic techniques. The results are as follows: 1. Ependyma. DANS-L-Phenylalanine is resorbed very quickly by the ependyma of all ventricles. The fluorescent ependyma is distinctly limited against the subependymal brain tissue. The fluorescence of the amino-acid disappears in the ependyma of the lateral ventricles and of the 3rd ventricle 15 min p.i., The ependyma of the aquaeduct is no more fluorescent 30 min p.i. and the ependyma of the 4th ventricle 40 min p.i. 2. Choroid Plexus. Increased fluorescence of the resorbed amino-acid in the choroid plexus ofall ventricles was observed within 21/2 min after the injection. A storage and temporal supply is assumed. 60 min after injection the choroid plexus of the 3rd ventricle and 90 min after injection the plexus of all other ventricles are no more fluorescent. 3. Brain Tissue. The uptake and storage of the DANS-marked amino-acid starts 5 min p.i., attains a maximum 40 min p.i. and continues until 180 min p.i. The amino-acid prefers the following structures: Septal region, periventricular nuclei at the lower end of the lateral ventricles and surrounding the 3rd ventricle, nucl. caudatus putamen, Schütz bundle, central gray matter, reticular formation (in nerve fibres) and cerebellar molecular layer. 4. With regards to various distribution of other substances the transport of DANS-L-Phenylalanine is discussed.
