    Beschreibung: Learning devices can be embedded into organizational contexts. Through them learning processes can be intentionally activated as to transform employees while working. Workplaces have their own learning potential due to their high level of structuring and regulation. Their learning potential transform organizational actors while they are in the productive actions. Identifying embedded learning processes helps in intercepting learning valencies of workplace experiences and observing learning actions that can lead to transformative processes. Results of related research activities are presented in the volume. They have been carried out in more than ten years of research implemented in three types of organisations: business, museum, prison. Research experiences are analysed by using a model of study that is based on the reconstruction of the learning processes as they are experienced by the actors considered. Moreover the model is based on the analysis of learning actions that are embedded into the productive and service provision processes. Factors and conditions are analysed as well through which organisations can act on employees transformation.

    Beschreibung: Nowadays poverty can be defined as a construct that can no longer be ascribed to the material scarcity of resources but to the lack of all available relational, social and cultural resources, that are an expression of a “suffering” territory. This fragility testifies to a problem of educational sustainability that requires an exit from the emergency logic of “buffer interventions” by activating social, training and professional networks, capable of responding to the educational needs expressed by the territory. For this reason, in the epistemic framework of Civil and Digital-Civil Pedagogy, the need emerges for new professional profiles capable of being “managers” of integrated territorial development, educators-planners of territorial educational services with a view to social sustainability and the educational human transition.

    Beschreibung: The keynote of the recent history of the faculty of educational science of Florence University is change. This has emerged in response to the demands for education expressed by a new knowledge society, spawned by the processes of globalisation, and the social need to foster interculturalism and the dialogue between diversities. In this new dimension of change, education becomes the framework for preparation, but also for re-integrating and updating life itineraries that are swift and precarious, veined with insecurity and disillusionment. Even in the new approach, the scientific and cultural benchmark continues to be a consistent adherence to the secular, historic-pedagogic and educational tradition represented by the masters of the "Florence School". Since its creation in 1996, the new faculty has staked forcefully on the centrality of training in relation to the traditional focus on the professionalism of primary and secondary school teachers, and on the new extra-scholastic training issues: the educational professions; pedagogic care; the social education of adults; the technologies of education and instruction; the philosophic, sociological, psychological and anthropological dimension of education; the broad sphere of hardship and marginalisation and the different faces of diversity.

    Beschreibung: Il volume prende le mosse dal progetto pedagogico-interculturale “L’Aquila oltre i confini”, che ha visto la partnership dell’Università dell’Aquila insieme all’associazione capofila Bibliobus, con Arci, Koinonia e il Coordinamento territoriale Ricostruire Insieme, tutte operanti nel capoluogo abruzzese. L’esperienza nasce dalla volontà di progettare e condividere un percorso di realizzazione di programmi di formazione sulla cittadinanza attiva e partecipata, oltre che sulla prevenzione e sul superamento di tutte le forme di discriminazione e di intolleranza, tramite l’utilizzo di metodologie che possano essere trasversalmente contestualizzate all’interno della formazione scolastica, di quella universitaria e della formazione delle professionalità educative e sociali in generale. L’approccio di ricerca-azione e l’asse Associazioni-Scuola-Università si ritrova nell’ossatura dell’intero volume che, ad una prima parte di orientamento teorico in cui ci si sofferma sugli elementi cardine del nostro discorso pedagogico (intercultura, integrazione, narrazione), fa seguire altre tre sezioni a carattere operativo-metodologico descritte da tutti gli attori protagonisti del progetto.

    Beschreibung: In 2020, Norway’s national curriculum for primary and secondary school eduction, known as Kunnskapsløftet, came into effect. The plan is marked by increased emphasis on education for sustainability, and a notable example of this is the inclusion of sustainable development as an interdisciplinary topic in most subjects in primary and secondary school. As a result, the focus on sustainabilty has also increased in teacher eduction programs, for preschool as well as primary and secondary school teachers. Furthermore, a number of research networks have been established to explore sustainability in the context of education, and new research and textbooks are being published on this topic. This anthology presents new research on how the subject of sustainability is being handled in schools and preschools today, to all those interested in the topic. Education for Sustainability.     Beschreibung: This volume concerns the role of the Italian schools, the associations and their actors to counteract educational dispersion and encourage the inclusion of minors with a migratory background. The work is part of a collaboration project between Inapp (National Institute for Public Policy Analysis) and Aiig (Italian Association of Geography Teachers) aimed to map the “Analysis, training and territorial activities for preventing/countering the risks of educational dispersion of young people with a migratory background” (June 2022 - March 2023). This collaboration stems from a program agreement between Inapp and Ministry of Labor and Social Policies - General Directorate of Immigration, on “Citizen Integration Policies of Third Countries”. The first part, focused on theoretical aspects, develops the idea of a school as welcoming community, in which disciplines such as geography and tools such as digital teaching can be significant resources to draw on. Related to this, a specific focus on the socio-cultural development in the border and internal areas is underlined. The second part collects the empirical evidences emerging from some territorial laboratories and training courses organized by Inapp and Aiig in various Italian regions. These evidences represent the main results of a qualitative survey on risks of educational dropout of young people with a migratory background. A wealth of proposals together with successful and critical factors is unraveled. In the last section of the volume, these various and original practices are reported by teachers, school managers, and operators, representatives of voluntary organisations, associations and third sector. The idea was to carry out the research not on the actors of inclusion, but with them, giving voice to their experiences. It was a sort of an ideal journey from the north of Italy, where the presence of students with a migratory background is higher, to the south, considered the land of their arrival and transit.

    Beschreibung: Young pre-teens attending junior high schools are going through a very delicate period: they are not just engaged in a new and more complex school career but they are also engaged in their daily tasks of training and negotiating their identities and their roles in the different peer groups. This complex scenario is expanded by their first experiences, far from the eyes of adults, with technologies: tools that add, on the relational universe just described, an existential dimension that opens up new forms of communication mediated by digital contexts. Do technologies have an influence between on the relational dynamics that take place between students and their peers and between students and teachers? Which kind of influence? What dynamics are involved? What kind of technology is at stake? Is there a relationship of influence between the relationships mediated by the digital contexts and the social climate of a learning environment? What kind of influence? How much do students rely on digital-enriched relationships to satisfy their relationship needs? What perception do students and teachers have of relational dynamics mediated by digital contexts? And what role do they give to the school in this problem? To try to provide an answer to these questions, the volume presents a phenomenology of the witness of 21 teachers and 365 boys and girls belonging to two Italian and two French schools.

Bidragene i antologien er alle skrevet av fagansatte ved norske lærerutdanninger, som kommer fra ulike fagfelt som engelsk, norsk, pedagogikk, sosiologi, antropologi og samfunnsgeografi. Kapitlene belyser praksis og utenlandssemestre i Zambia, Namibia, Tanzania og Sør-Afrika. Ett kapittel dreieseg om praksis i en flyktningleir. Antologien reiser også kritiske spørsmål omkring internasjonalisering og hvordan det også innebærer en risiko for nykolonialisme, og at studentene kan se verden gjennom et «turistblikk». Det argumenteres for hvordan dette kan unngås gjennom grundig forberedelse, oppfølging og etterarbeid. Dette er den første antologien som omhandler forskning på praksis og lengre opphold i det globale sør, og den henvender seg til en bred målgruppe: fra politikere og byråkrater som legger til rette for studentmobilitet i høyere utdanning, til forskere, profesjonsutdannere og studenter. For profesjonsutdanninger som i dag har praksis i sør, vil bidragene kunne gi viktig innsikt i forberedelse før, oppfølging underveis og refleksjoner i etterkant av praksisoppholdet. Boka kan leses samlet med ulike teoretiske og metodiske perspektiver på studentmobilitet og praksis i det globale sør, men alle kapitlene er skrevet og fagfellevurdert som selvstendige tekster og kan leses som enkeltstående kapitler.

Det har vært satset stort på digitalt utstyr i høyere utdanning gjennom en årrekke, men arbeidsformene har ikke forandret seg tilsvarende. I denne boka analyserer forfatterne konkrete arbeidskrav og trekker inn studentenes refleksjoner omkring hvordan tekster og medier fungerer i læringsprosesser i ulike fag. Similarly, representation triggers transitions in the prefiguration and communication of design, the anticipation and foreshadowing of future events.The challenges posed by the digital pose open questions whose scope can only be glimpsed, such as the relationship between drawing and the act of modelling, and the construction of new paradigms of visual language and communication. ‘Transitions’, almost implicitly, points to possible futures, the evolution of technique and the search for new modes of expression; at the same time, however, it can suggest silences and reflections in a process of connection between history, theory, criticism and construction.

    Beschreibung: Serious illness prevents many students from attending school on a regular basis and can lead to long-term absence from the classroom. The consequent isolation impedes socialization and educational exchange between homebound students and their schoolmates, as well as interaction with their teachers. Moreover, these students face serious difficulties when they eventually manage to return to school. All these factors slow down homebound students’ learning progress and weaken their sense of belonging to their peer group. In response to these issues, Italy’s Ministry of Education (MIUR), National Research Council (CNR), and the TIM Foundation set up a project in 2013 named TRIS (Networked Technologies and Socio-educational Inclusion). The main aim of the project is to develop a flexible and scalable intervention model for integrating homebound leaners. This is based on active and engaging learning approaches and is designed for application to a wide variety of long–term absence situations. The main pillar of the project is the so-called “Inclusive Hybrid Classroom”, a special blending of physical and digital learning spaces. By facilitating direct engagement in class activities, irrespective of the students’ actual location, this kind of classroom heightens the sense for everyone that the homebound student is actively present in the classroom.

    Beschreibung: In a complex, global, multicultural and post-modern society such as the contemporary one, the concepts of "democracy", citizenship "and" training” are undergoing a more urgent and necessary rethinking, which is tracing more and more constant new variations, contaminations and interconnections. On the one hand citizenship has become today active and participatory, as today it can be exercised. On the other hand, volunteering can be a response to the need for participation claimed by contemporary societies: the donation of blood, a particular declination of the traditional concept of gift, is seen as an opportunity to participate in community life and to exercise active and responsible citizenship. From this point of view, the subject is the main actor and protagonist of contemporary processes, and must be trained in understanding the complexity of the notion of citizenship.

    Beschreibung: In the period following the Second World War Giulio Preti was one of the leading exponents of Italian philosophy. A master of open critical thought, cultivated in the light of a rationalism that dialogued with, and integrated into his own philosophical model, many of the currents and stances of the global research scenario. Phenomenology, Marxism, pragmatism, neopositivism, transcendentalism and structuralism: in Preti all of these found an organic and original synthesis. Further, his particular brand of rationalist-critical thought touched on many aspects of philosophical knowledge: theoretical philosophy, the philosophy of science, that of language and that of art, from ethics to politics and even taking in the history of philosophy, offering authoritative contributions in every sphere. One hundred years after his birth, the University of Florence and the heir to the Faculty in which he lectured at length, the Faculty of Education, has decided to honour his memory with this anthology of studies, penned by former pupils and others and also by younger scholars, to once again focus the wealth of this thought and its, in many respects, current relevance. Even now, this particular brand of open, critical rationalism can offer a benchmark for addressing the new issues for philosophical reflection thrown up by modern society and culture.

    Beschreibung: The volume collects the results of a course in “Assisted architectural design” which experimented with some innovative aspects in the teaching of Drawing. The new frontier is now represented by computer tools and very complex processing programs that incorporate all the previous techniques and propose new ones, becoming for the architect the main instrument of restorative and expressive potential. The experience involved the course students not only in learning the most up-to-date computer graphics programs, but above all in the development of this new expression technique in close relation to a design experience.

    Beschreibung: The text highlights the lines of the research crossed by Paolo Federighi in his forty-year professional career within the University of Florence and the European institutions. We take the opportunity of this perusal to problematize the discipline, Adult Education, through a semantic and lexicographic analysis which aims to bring to light the history and theory of Adult Education from its beginnings in Italian society and culture in the period after the Second World War to date. The pedagogical-educational knowledge forming the building blocks of the discipline cannot be separated from scientific research and methodological results. The second part of the essay sets out to understand which research methodology can be more appropriate to respond to the needs of a constantly evolving and rapidly changing civil society. The third and fourth parts reflect on a human and scientific itinerary always pointed towards the lodestar of educational innovation and educational transformation.

    Beschreibung: "With the evolution of today’s educational contexts, teacher education is becoming increasingly important into European political discussion, in relation to its ability to improve the results of student learning. The need to confront new changes clearly signifies that the professionalism of teachers cannot be limited to competencies and skills learning, however, it does require new strategic dimensions of professional activation, oriented towards better identifying personal goals and strategies to be achieved. The text re-draws the paradigm of the continuing teacher professional development by integrating the capability approach with the models of competencies. Starting from the analysis of European policies on teacher education, the text carry out an experimental research into pre-school settings to explore the importance of individual choice: throught the creation of innovative research tools and a self-training methodology, pre-school teachers involved improved their self-determine agency and better qualified professional development. The text meets the interests of researchers, as a important contribution to rethink the topic of teacher training, also for the chosen methodological approach; for teachers, it wants to deepen the sense of educational professionalism, updated to the most recent topics and issues; finally, it meets the interests of aspiring in-training teachers or aspiring researchers for the richness of its contents, in order to inspire the elaboration of new, original research perspectives."

Of course, both future and in-service teachers need to be prepared to favour students’ digital skills. This brought the European Commission to release in 2017 the DigCompEdu framework. In this chapter, we will first review some of the main conceptual models inspiring the reflection and research around teachers’ knowledge and digital skills. Then, we will focus on the DigComEdu framework, to illustrate its main areas of competences and the operational values.

    Beschreibung: "How do you really become a skilled teacher? And what role should guidance play in the education of tomorrow's teachers? This theme is explored through a study of experienced practitioners' formalized counseling conversations with teacher students. The most important questions in the book are about how the practice teacher and teacher conduct conversations. Concretely, the question is: What is the content of the counseling interviews? How are the teacher students evaluated? How is the consequences of the counseling discussions understood? The guide being examined contains a step by step pedagogy. First, the teacher's student must learn to control, master and reflect on the social space both the classroom and the counseling conversation are. This is described as an overall moral and regulatory discourse. This discourse forms the basis for the teacher's next step - which is the actual teaching. The teacher's student must therefore master two discourses - one regulatory discourse and one teaching discourse - in order to become a skilled teacher. In addition, he or she must adapt to the regulatory discourse in the counseling conversation. The latter discourse represents in this book an initiation ritual for the teaching profession. This ritual gives the practice teacher control over the dedication, while limiting the room for maneuver in the counseling conversation. "
    Beschreibung: "Hvordan blir man egentlig en dyktig lærer? Og hvilken rolle skal veiledning spille i utdanningen av morgendagens lærere? Denne tematikken utforskes gjennom en studie av erfarne praksislæreres formaliserte veiledningssamtaler med lærerstudenter. De viktigste spørsmålene i boka handler om hvordan praksislærer og lærerstudenter gjennomfører veiledningssamtalene. Helt konkret spørres det: Hva er innholdet i veiledningssamtalene? Hvordan vurderes lærerstudentene? Hvordan forstås konsekvensene av veiledningssamtalene? Veiledningen som undersøkes, inneholder en trinnvis pedagogikk. Først må lærerstudenten lære seg å kontrollere, beherske og reflektere over det sosiale rommet både klasserommet og veiledningssamtalen er. Dette beskrives som en overordnet moralsk og regulerende diskurs. Denne diskursen danner grunnlaget for lærerstudentens neste trinn – som er selve undervisningen. Lærerstudenten må altså beherske to diskurser – én regulerende diskurs og én undervisningsdiskurs – for å bli en dyktig lærer. I tillegg må han eller hun tilpasse seg den regulerende diskursen i veiledningssamtalen. Den sistnevnte diskursen representerer i denne boka et innvielsesritual til læreryrket.     Beschreibung: The chapter presents a case study based on the design, development, and testing of an interactive 360° video applied to the teaching of Sensory Analysis of Food at the University of Florence. The case study describes the design of 360° video storyboards and the creation of the video by the use of 360° cameras for reproducing a sensory laboratory environment. Video enrichment with Vivista, an educational software allowing lecturers to embed interaction points (e.g. quizzes, texts, images) within the 360° videos is also described. Different immersive modalities for the use of the videos with students in different contexts are described and discussed. The chapter concludes with a reflection on the opportunities that 360° videos may provide to university students for practice and experience.

    Beschreibung: "The book discusses various challenges and solutions related to the coordination of health and welfare services. Coordination is central to creating integrated services for users with complex needs. In order to understand the challenges and opportunities associated with creating such services, one needs knowledge related to organizations and the organizational context. The book's chapters takes on an organizational perspective where patterns and explanations are sought in formal and informal structures, processes and culture. The users’ need for services often cross established boundaries, both organizational and professional. The authors highlight the possibilities and limitations of some selected solutions that will help to cut across or break down such boundaries. Examples of such solutions are user involvement, interdisciplinary collaboration, team organizations, coordinators, standardization and patient pathways, digitization and decision-making tools for employees who work in the services. One chapter summarizes three different theoretical research approaches for analyzing coordination and collaboration. The target group is researchers, university and college employees and students of the health and welfare sector. The book also will be of interest for user organizations as well as administrative and professional decision-makers in public and private businesses."
    Beschreibung: "I TIMSS Advanced, en studie av elevers kunnskaper i det siste året i videregående skole, var de norske elevenes kompetanse i fysikk helt i verdenstoppen i 1995, noe som ble lagt merke til både nasjonalt og internasjonalt. Siden den gang har det vært en dramatisk nedgang i de norske elevenes prestasjoner. I TIMSS Advanced 2015 målte vi en tilbakegang i elevenes kunnskapesnivå i fysikk på trekvart standardavvik fra 1995. Det er en større nedgang enn vi i Norge har målt i noe annet fag i noen andre internasjonale studier, på noe nivå i skolen. Norge har deltatt i TIMSS Advanced i videregående skole og i TIMSS i grunnskolen jevnlig siden 1995. Vi har derfor en stor databank som gir oss muligheter til å studere og analysere utviklingen i Norge fra 1995 fra mange ulike synsvinkler og perspektiver. Mange av de utfordringene vi står overfor i dag, blant annet når det gjelder miljøet, kan kun løses gjennom forskning og kunnskapsutvikling innen fysikk og andre realfag. Vi trenger å utdanne folk med gode kunnskaper på dette området. At de norske elevenes fysikkprestasjoner har sunket dramatisk fra 1995 til 2015, er derfor bekymringsfullt. I boka tar vi opp og drøfter mange ulike sider for hvordan vi kan bedre de norsk elevenes kunnskaper i fysikk. Et viktig moment er at vi mener Norge har gode muligheter til å bedre undervisningen i fysikk og andre realfag. Vi greide å heve lesenivået blant norske elever gjennom systematisk samarbeid over tid med alle involverte aktører. Vi kan gjøre et tilsvarende løft for realfagene. Det vil være til det beste både for den enkelte elev og for samfunnet som helhet."

The authorities want students' achievements and completion of degrees to increase. Likewise, they expect the workforce to be optimally adapted to today's market and the uncertain demands of the future. They require students to be flexible, willing to learn and familiar with an abundance of general skills. A universal solution is to make studies more ""practical"". We -as teachers in HE - are challenged to improve students' abilities to reason and to prepare for practical applications, whether we are working on conventional theoretical topics in professional education or in continuing education. The authors of this book believe that the work of teaching with these expectations in mind is not just about professional practice, but about practical matters in a broad sense. Students are active in many ways, and they learn and work in the contexts in which they move, so the experiences and insights that they bring with them and then create by acquiring competences also make them practitioners themselves. One of our central educational tasks is to help them to recognize self-worth, that is, to see themselves in the mirror of knowledge, values and skills that higher education can offer them. The book contains examples of how students can work practically and in research, from R&D projects about learning to theoretical contributions.
