Description: The design of holographic concentrator integrated with photoconverter has been suggested and the light radiation transmission through the holographic coating has been considered. This design improves the solar conversion efficiency by photoconverter and does not require solar tracking.

Description: The results of the model-based study of nonstationary thermal mode in premises with an insolation passive heating system with a three-layer translucent shield are presented. The article is aimed at determining daily variations in the air temperature of the heated premise on typical heating season days and analyzing the optimization of the thermal capacity of the short-term (daily) thermal battery of the heating system on this basis.

Description: This study deals with thin layer drying characteristics of Coriandrum sativum L. leaves in a natural convection solar dryer. The Coriandrum sativum L. leaves were dried from a moisture content of 88% (w.b.) to 4.5% (w.b.) in 7.5 hours. The obtained drying data were fitted to eight different drying kinetics models. Of these, the model suggested by Midilli et al. [20] had the best fit with the drying behavior of Coriandrum sativum L. leaves. In addition, the thermodynamic behaviour of a solar dryer was evaluated. The energy efficiency during the study varied from 7.81 to 37.93%. The exergy efficiency of the drying process ranged between 55.35 and 79.39%.

Description: The effects of temperature on the photovoltaic performance of mono-crystalline silicon solar cell have been investigated by current-voltage characteristics and transient photo-response measurements. The fill factor and efficiency values of the solar cell at various temperatures were determined. The variation in the power conversion efficiency and fill factor values is mainly due to the change of short circuit current, open circuit voltage V oc with temperature for the studied mono-crystalline silicon cell. The increase in the short circuit current I sc with the increase of illuminations and temperature is interpreted by the increase in the generation of electron-hole pairs by thermal energy recombination mechanism. The mono-crystalline silicon solar cell exhibits a high efficiency of 14.215% at (AM-1.5) 100 mW/cm 2 . The obtained results indicate that the studied solar cell exhibits a high stability, sensitivity and quality and it can be used for photovoltaic power generation systems as a clean power source.

Description: This paper studies linear Fresnel mirrors (LFMs) with flat facets. A model and a program for calculating the parameters and concentration of LFMs with flat facets have been developed. It is shown that LFMs can provide in increased concentration by up to 30 times at a number of facets of about 50 while ensuring the high uniformity of the concentrated radiation at the receiver.

Description: The aim of this paper is to reduce losses and improve voltage profile of a distribution feeder taking into account probabilistic nature of PV sources and loads, using particle swarm optimization algorithm. The proposed method uses normal distribution and beta distribution for probabilistic modeling of the loads and irradiation respectively. By applying probabilistic load flow, voltage profile and losses for the network are calculated 24 hours a day and four seasons a year. Based on overall results the optimal size of installed PV resources in each buses on the feeder are obtained and compared to the results obtained from a conventional method.

Description: This paper studies the problems of the optimal combination of powers in autonomous combined electric power plants (CEPPs) based on solar photovoltaic (SPVP), wind (WEPP), and microhydro power plants (MHPP) using the criterion of power costs to the consumer taking into account the mode of receipt and consumption of energy. The technical-economic model and the program for calculating CEPPs with energy storage devices (ESDs) is developed, which allows one to determine CEPPs of minimum cost for given modes of generation and consumption (load) of energy. Optimal CEPPs will almost always be single or paired combinations; moreover, in some cases, the proportion of SPVPs reaches 100%. It was shown that CEPPs can provide the minimum cost of power in a wider range of modes of alternative energy sources (AESs) than individual SPVPs, WEPPs, or MHHPs. Generalized cost curves for power from SPVPs, WEPPs, and MHHPs depending on the potentials of AESs for three basic loading modes are given.
