    Description: Ausgehend von der zunehmenden quantitativen Bedeutung der Auslandsverschuldung des Staates untersucht der Verfasser zunächst, ob eine derartige Verschuldung in der Lage ist, den inländischen Kapitalmarkt zu entlasten und die Zinsbelastung des Staates zu senken. Anschliessend werden die Auswirkungen auf Volkseinkommen, Beschäftigung und Preisniveau im Inland analysiert. Darüber hinaus wird gefragt, inwieweit die Auslandsverschuldung des Staates in der gegenwärtigen bundesdeutschen Situation als zahlungsbilanzpolitisches Instrument eingesetzt werden kann.

    Description: The aim of this work is to integrate the West Slavic languages ​​into grammar and language comparisons using modern grammatical approaches. This is done using the example of the imperative sentence in Slovak with a view to other West Slavic languages. This type of sentence is examined for its formal and content-related characteristics. At the same time, its communicative-pragmatic potential is derived and explained from the structural meaning of this mode verbi. The demarcation between the grammar and the pragmatics of the imperative theorem will play an important role here.
    Description: Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die westslawischen Sprachen unter Anwendung moderner grammatiktheoretischer Ansätze in den Grammatik- und Sprachvergleich zu integrieren. Dies erfolgt am Beispiel des Imperativsatzes im Slowakischen mit Blick auf andere westslawische Sprachen. Dieser Satztyp wird hinsichtlich seiner formalen und inhaltlichen Eigenschaften untersucht. Zugleich wird sein kommunikativ-pragmatisches Potential aus der Strukturbedeutung dieses Modus verbi abgeleitet und erklärt. Dabei wird die Grenzziehung zwischen der Grammatik und der Pragmatik des Imperativsatzes eine wichtige Rolle spielen.

    Description: Against the background of the Ürümchi riots (July 2009), this book provides a longitudinal study of contemporary Uyghur identities and Uyghur-Han relations. Previous studies considered China’s Uyghurs from the perspective of the majority Han (state or people). Conversely, The Art of Symbolic Resistance considers Uyghur identities from a local perspective, based on interviews conducted with group members over nearly twenty years. Smith Finley rejects assertions that the Uyghur ethnic group is a ‘creation of the Chinese state’, suggesting that contemporary Uyghur identities involve a complex interplay between long-standing intra-group socio-cultural commonalities and a more recently evolved sense of common enmity towards the Han. This book advances the discipline in three senses: from a focus on sporadic violent opposition to one on everyday symbolic resistance; from state to ‘local’ representations; and from a conceptualisation of Uyghurs as ‘victim’ to one of ‘creative agent’.

    Description: The Archive of the Sacromonte Abbey in Granada preserves a historical treasure: Arabic texts on a sheet of parchment and on numerous small tablets of lead, which were discovered in Granada at the end of the sixteenth century in the tower of the old Friday Mosque and in caves of the "Valparaíso" hillock, from then on called "Sacromonte". They became the object of heated discussions in Europe and were condemned by the Pope in 1682. The texts are among the very last literary productions of the Moriscos, the Andalusi Muslims, many of whom continued to practice Islam in secret until their expulsion from Spain between 1609 and 1614. With the permission of the archbishop of Granada, we offer, for the first time in history, a study, edition, translation, and images of all the tablets and shed new light on the fascinating religious messages of these enigmatic texts and their authors.

    Description: Die Betrachtung aggregierter Beschäftigungsentwicklungen greift zu kurz, wenn man sich für die Dynamik und die Unterschiedlichkeit betriebsindividueller Beschäftigungsveränderungen interessiert. Für diese Arbeit wurden daher erstmals für die baden-württembergische Industrie und die Jahre 1980 bis 1999 amtliche Betriebsdaten zu einem Betriebspaneldatensatz verknüpft. Ausgehend von einer fundierten Analyse der betrieblichen Arbeitsplatzdynamik werden mögliche betriebsindividuelle, branchenspezifische, aber auch regionale Einflussfaktoren des betrieblichen Beschäftigungswachstums einer empirischen Überprüfung unterzogen. Eine ökonometrische Analyse möglicher Determinanten des Auftretens und insbesondere des Überlebens von neu gegründeten Industriebetrieben rundet die Arbeit ab.

    Description: In der EU hat Irland aufgrund seines wirtschaftlichen Aufschwungs und der hohen Direktinvestitionen auf sich aufmerksam gemacht. Die Autorin untersucht, welche internen (Standortfaktoren) und externen Rahmenbedingungen (europäische Integration) eine erfolgreiche Anwerbung von Direktinvestitionen ermöglicht haben. Von besonderem Interesse ist, inwieweit andere Mitgliedsländer der EU die Strategie Irlands übernehmen können. Nach der Ermittlung eines theoretischen Analyserahmens wird dieser auf Irland angewendet. Dabei sind die Direktinvestitionszuflüsse durch die regionale Integration zu erklären, jedoch nur in Kombination mit den irischen Besonderheiten. Insbesondere die langfristige Ausrichtung der wirtschaftspolitischen Maßnahmen auf die MNU haben dazu beigetragen.

    Description: Kazimierz Moczarski (1907–1975) was a journalist, soldier, and political prisoner. His life exemplifies a Central European biography under Nazism and Comunism. The addictive and moving Civility in Uncivil Times reveals the story of a man who defended law and democracy all his life. Moczarski fought for it in the authoritarian Poland of the 1930s. During the Second World War, he partook in the resistance movement. After the war, he spent eleven years in a Stalinist prison, including nine months in one cell with the Nazi Jürgen Stroop, who commanded the brutal pacification of the Warsaw Ghetto. The communists imprisoned Moczarski’s wife. After release, he rebuilt the broken marriage, rejoined social life, and wrote a work about meeting Stroop. Translated into many languages, Conversations with the Executioner is a thorough study of totalitarianism.

    Description: What would an alternative to contemporary capitalism look like? In this book, Geert Reuten sets out a detailed design of a democratic society organised in worker cooperatives, followed by an equally detailed democratic transition to it, thereby making a convincing case. In Reuten’s design, Workers constitute the single economic class. However, unlike in capitalism, there is no class that owns the means of production. The legal structure of worker cooperatives is such that workers have full rights to the fruits of the cooperative without owning it, and yet the state does not own the cooperatives either. Interestingly, worker councils in the economic and state domains vote on all economically relevant matters. In Reuten’s work, the free choice of occupation and of specific consumer goods is even larger than in capitalism.

    Description: The book is a comparative case study of collective memory in two small communities situated on two Central-European borderlands. Despite different pre-war histories, Ukrainian Zhovkva (before 1939 Polish Żółkiew) and Polish Krzyż (before 1945 German Kreuz) were to share a common fate of many European localities, destroyed and rebuilt in a completely new shape. As a result of war, and post-war ethnic cleansing and displacement, they lost almost all of their pre-war inhabitants and were repopulated by new people. Based on more than 150 oral history interviews, the book describes the process of reconstruction of social microcosm, involving the reader in a journey through the lives of real people entangled in the dramatic historical events of the 20th century.

As prevalent approaches often do not lead to a satisfying solution, the author suggests a normative model to offer directions for the optimal channel coordination. The model is based on stochastic purchase and switching probabilities, given certain conditions like prices and supportive marketing activities (like delivery time or shop environment). A company can fit its consumer base to the model and simulate various effects on its earnings by altering prices or marketing activities. The model is a market-based playground to develop new holistic strategies for a multichannel company without affecting the market.

    Description: The different theoretical notions and practices of the relations between the state and religious communities in early modern Europe constitute one of the most interesting problems in historiography. Moving away from a simple «toleration» versus «non-toleration» dichotomy, the author sets out to analyse the inter-confessional relations in selected European territories in a «longue duree» perspective, between Reformation and Enlightenment. Outlining the relations between the state and the different Churches (confessions) in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Holy Roman Empire of Germany, and the Northern Netherlands serves to highlight the specificity of Northern Netherlands serves to highlight the specificity of «free» (non-absolutist) composite states, where the particularly complex process of defining the raison d’etat determined the level of religious toleration that was politically feasible and socially acceptable.

    Description: The work consists of two parts. The first part deals exclusively with the aspect properties of Russian prefigured verbs. A perfective analysis for Russian is proposed, which allows to grasp the semantic differences between imperfective Simplizia and its derivative derivatives in semantic terms. The second part of the thesis is an application of the proposed perfective analysis to Russian pere-prefixed verbs. It is shown that the meaning variants of pere-prefixed verbs in Russian can be derived from a general prefix scheme and the semantics of the stem verb.
    Description: Die Arbeit besteht aus zwei Teilen. Der erste Teil befaßt sich ausschließlich mit den aspektuellen Eigenschaften russischer präfigierter Verben. Es wird eine Perfektivanalyse für das Russische vorgeschlagen, die es ermöglicht, die semantischen Unterschiede zwischen imperfektiven Simplizia und ihren perfektiven Derivata in semantischen Termen zu erfassen. Der zweite Teil der Arbeit stellt eine Anwendung der vorgeschlagenen Perfektivanalyse auf russische pere-präfigierte Verben dar. Es wird gezeigt, daß die Bedeutungsvarianten pere-präfigierter Verben im Russischen aus einem allgemeinen Präfixschema und der Semantik des Stammverbs abgeleitet werden können.

    Description: This monograph is a contribution to the documentation of the linguistic situation of the Kinnaur district in Himachal Pradesh (Indian Himalayas) which has been so far almost undescribed. The Sino-Tibetan languages Kinnauri and Navakat and the Indo-Aryan language Kinnauri Pahari, all spoken in Kinnaur, are described both individually and as parts of a multifaceted linguistic ecology that extends into the surrounding wider Himalayan region. The author combines traditional linguistic description and a quantitative computational procedure to disentangle genealogical and areal characteristics of the languages of Kinnaur.

Its Christian community, about 10% of the population, has until now received no overall description in English. Through cooperation of 26 Indonesian and European scholars, Protestants and Catholics, a broad and balanced picture is given of its 24 million Christians. This book sketches the growth of Christianity during the Portuguese period (1511-1605), it presents a fair account of developments under the Dutch colonial administration (1605-1942) and is more elaborate for the period of the Indonesian Republic (since 1945). It emphasizes the regional differences in this huge country, because most Christians live outside the main island of Java. Muslim-Christian relations, as well as the tensions between foreign missionaries and local theology, receive special attention.

    Description: In the nineteenth century a new type of mystic emerged in Catholic Europe. While cases of stigmatisation had been reported since the thirteenth century, this era witnessed the development of the ‘stigmatic’: young women who attracted widespread interest thanks to the appearance of physical stigmata. To understand the popularity of these stigmatics we need to regard them as the ‘saints’ and religious ‘celebrities’ of their time. With their ‘miraculous’ bodies, they fit contemporary popular ideas (if not necessarily those of the Church) of what sanctity was. As knowledge about them spread via modern media and their fame became marketable, they developed into religious ‘celebrities’.     Description: Germany has gradually become Europe's largest immigration country and is increasingly shaped by the image of a multicultural and multilingual society. However, the issue of multilingualism receives little attention, especially with regard to Slavic migration idioms. The aim of the present study is the empirical investigation of the current language behavior of Slavophone immigrants and the determination of the vitality of their native languages. On the basis of a nationwide survey of 500 immigrants detailed microsociological data on the use of Slavic languages ​​depending on persons, topics and situations will be collected and the influence of linguistic ecological factors such as attitudes, motivations, identity and social network of speakers on language use and language content will be investigated. In addition, on the basis of interdisciplinary approaches to the description of linguistic minorities, the vitality of slavins is analyzed comparatively, showing the current situation and the future development of Slavia in Germany in general and specific tendencies of ethnolects in particular.
    Description: Deutschland hat sich sukzessive zum größten Einwanderungsland Europas entwickelt und wird immer stärker vom Bild einer multikulturellen und multilingualen Gesellschaft geprägt. Dem Thema Mehrsprachigkeit aber wird insbesondere in Bezug auf slavische Migrationsidiome nur wenig Beachtung geschenkt. Ziel der vorliegenden Studie ist die empirische Erforschung des aktuellen Sprachverhaltens slavophoner Immigranten und die Bestimmung der Vitalität ihrer Muttersprachen. Anhand einer deutschlandweiten Enquete unter 500 Zuwanderern werden detaillierte mikrosoziologische Daten zum Gebrauch der slavischen Sprachen in Abhängigkeit von Personen, Themen und Situationen erhoben und der Einfluss sprachökologischer Faktoren wie Attitüden, Motivationen, Identität und soziales Netzwerk der Sprecher auf die Sprachverwendung und den Spracherhalt untersucht. Zudem wird auf der Grundlage interdisziplinärer Ansätze zur Beschreibung von Sprachminderheiten die Vitalität der Slavinen komparativ analysiert, womit die gegenwärtige Situation und die zukünftige Entwicklung der Slavia in Deutschland im Allgemeinen und spezifische Tendenzen der Ethnolekte im Besonderen aufgezeigt werden.

    Description: Ausgelöst durch zahlreiche Unternehmenskrisen wird seit Beginn der 90er Jahre in der Corporate Governance-Diskussion die Funktionsfähigkeit des deutschen Aufsichtsratssystems in Frage gestellt. Der Gesetzgeber reagierte hierauf zunächst mit dem KonTraG und zuletzt mit dem TransPuG. 〈BR〉 Der Autor entwickelt aus betriebswirtschaftlicher Perspektive Gestaltungsvorschläge, die zu einer Funktionsverbesserung des Aufsichtsrats beitragen. Ausgehend von einer Analyse der juristischen Rahmenbedingungen zeigt der Autor, daß ein wesentlicher Teil der Aufsichtsratsaufgaben zukunftsbezogen ist. Zur Erfüllung dieser Aufgaben sollten Aktiengesellschaften daher über ein Aufsichtsratsplanungssystem verfügen, das die Aufsichtsratsmitglieder umfassend unterstützt. Es wird ein theoretisch fundiertes Gesamtsystem entwickelt, das sich durch hohe praktische Umsetzbarkeit auszeichnet. Zur Förderung der notwendigen Professionalisierung des Aufsichtsrats wird außerdem ein wertorientiertes Anreizsystem gestaltet, das das Planungssystem ergänzen muß.

Diese Untersuchung verfolgt das Ziel, die Kategorie des Schülerbildes in den religionspädagogischen Diskurs einzuführen. Es wird gefragt, inwiefern konstruktivistisch geprägte Erkenntnisprozesse nicht auch hinsichtlich der – bislang vernachlässigten – Frage, wie Religionspädagog:innen in Theorie und Praxis über Schüler:innen denken und welches implizite Schülerbild somit meist unbewusst konstruiert wird, eine Rolle spielen. Im Sinne einer Heuristik werden Dimensionen herausgearbeitet, die den Konstruktionsprozess eines Schülerbildes maßgeblich mitbeeinflussen. Es wird untersucht, inwiefern ein Schülerbild im Kontext religionspädagogischer und -didaktischer Vollzüge wirksam ist und daher als ein Impetus zur Selbstreflexion wahrgenommen werden sollte. Zu diesem Zweck werden ausgewählte religionspädagogische Entwürfe hinsichtlich ihres jeweiligen Schülerbildes analysiert und die religionspädagogische Bedeutung des Schülerbildes anhand einer fünffachen Kategorisierung konkretisiert.

    Description: Auf den Märkten für medizinische Leistungen und in der Beziehung zwischen Arzt und Patient existieren Informationsasymmetrien in einer Vielzahl, wie sie in kaum einem anderen Bereich einer Ökonomie anzutreffen sind. In der Arbeit wird die beidseitige Informationsasymmetrie zwischen Arzt und Patient untersucht. Zum einen geschieht dies hinsichtlich des Einflusses von Änderungen der Vertragsparameter auf die medizinische Leistung und das Verhalten des Patienten. Zum anderen betrifft dies die Wahl der Versicherungs- und Vergütungsparameter. Ergänzend wird die Arzt-Patient-Beziehung mittels einer empirischen Analyse untersucht. In deren Mittelpunkt stehen die Determinanten der Gesundheitszufriedenheit des Patienten und dabei insbesondere die Inanspruchnahme medizinischer Leistungen.

    Description: The Spanish colonization dramatically interrupted the autonomous development of ancient Mesoamerican culture. Nevertheless, indigenous societies learnt to live with the conquest. It was not only a time of crisis, but also an extraordinarily creative time period in which material culture reflected indigenous peoples’ varied responses and adaptations to the changing circumstances. This work presents insights into the process of cultural continuity and change in the indigenous world by focusing on pottery technology in the Nahua (Aztec) region of Central Mexico. The late pre-colonial, early colonial and present-day characteristics of this industry are explored in order to come to a renewed understanding of its long-term development.

    Description: Cette thèse s’inscrit dans la perspective du parcours de vie, sous l’angle du regard porté sur les changements personnels et sociohistoriques de l’existence, dans un contexte culturel précis, celui de l’Inde urbaine moderne. Au travers de la récolte de plus de 1250 interviews, réalisées à Mumbai en 2012 et 2014 parmi des adultes âgés de 20 à 86 ans, habitant·e·s de bidonvilles et d’immeubles de classe moyenne inférieure, le contenu et la temporalité des événements vécus considérés comme importants par les répondant·e·s sont analysés. Outre le souci évident d’observer les trajectoires et les moments marquants de la vie, selon le point de vue des personnes elles-mêmes, cette thèse cherche à dépasser l’a priori selon lequel les habitant·e·s des slums seraient vulnérables par évidence, afin de révéler des vulnérabilités insoupçonnées, présentes sous des formes diverses.

    Description: Angesichts beträchtlicher Funktionsmängel des Wohnungsmarktes besteht wohnungspolitischer Handlungsbedarf. Die Studie zeigt, daß der soziale Mietwohnungsbau nicht in der Lage ist, einkommensschwache Haushalte und soziale Randgruppen effizient mit Wohnraum zu versorgen. Einzelne Korrekturmaßnahmen wie beispielsweise die Fehlbelegungsabgabe können keine Abhilfe schaffen. Auch die 1994 eingeführte einkommensorientierte Förderung weist erhebliche Probleme auf, bietet jedoch Ansatzpunkte für eine Neukonzeption des Fördersystems: Zentrales Instrument der sozialen Sicherung des Wohnens ist dabei ein leicht modifiziertes Wohngeld. Es wird flankiert durch den Erwerb kommunaler Belegungsrechte im Wohnungsbestand für solche Haushalte, die nicht aufgrund fehlender Mietzahlungsfähigkeit, sondern wegen persönlicher Eigenschaften auf dem Wohnungsmarkt benachteiligt werden.

Da bei der Portfolioarbeit immer häufiger ePortfolios zum Einsatz kommen, sind zwei weitere Fragen zentral: Wie beeinflusst das Arbeitsmedium (Computer und Internet) die individuelle Portfoliopraxis der Lernenden? Und wie setzen Lehrende die ePortfolioarbeit im Fremdsprachenunterricht erfolgreich um? Zur Klärung der Forschungsfragen wurde die Arbeit mit ePortfolios im Spanischunterricht der Sekundarstufe I über ein Schuljahr hinweg untersucht. Der Studie liegt ein qualitatives Forschungsdesign zugrunde. Quantitative Daten ergänzen die Fallanalysen.

Die vorliegende Arbeit strukturiert und analysiert die Bedingungen, unter denen eine Standardisierung internationaler Werbekonzeptionen möglich erscheint. The investigation is done both from a synchronous and a diachronic point of view, since paradigmatic comparisons with older ns. Grammars as well as with the contemporary language to be drawn.
    Description: Die vorliegende Untersuchung verfolgt das Ziel, das Dualsystem des Neuen Testaments des Miklawuš Jakubica ( 1548) zu beschreiben und zu analysieren, da über den Du. eine Vielzahl von Einzeluntersuchungen existieren, wie z. B. zur Erörterung der Numeruskategorie im Slavischen im allgemeinen, allgemeine Darstellungen zum Sorbischen mit Beschreibungen der Dualparadigmen, Beschreibungen einzelner Flexionsparadigmen des Ns., deren Besonderheiten und Genese (...). Der Verfasser stellt sich das Ziel, nach einigen einleitenden Bemerkungen zur Übersetzung des NT von Miklawuš Jakubica im 2. Kapitel theoretische Grundlagen zur morphologischen Kategorie zu erörtern, wobei im wesentlichen auf den Numerus im allgemeinen, den Ursprung des Du. und dessen verschiedene Formen, wie natürlicher oder freier, Du. mit zwei und beide und anaphorischer Du. eingegangen wird.     Description: This book reexamines the origins and growth of the medieval inquisition which provided a framework for the large-scale operations against religious dissidents. In the last quarter of the twelfth century, the papacy launched concerted efforts to hunt out heretics, mostly Cathars and Waldensians, and directed operations against them all across Latin Christendom. The bull of Pope Lucius III Ad abolendam of 1184 became a turning point in the formation of the inquisitorial system which made both the clergy and the laity responsible for suppressing any religious dissent. From a comparative perspective, the study analyzes political, social and religious developments which in the High Middle Ages gave birth to the mechanism of repression and religious violence supervised by the papacy and operated by bishops and, starting from the 1230s, papal inquisitors, extraordinary judges delegate staffed mostly by Dominican and Franciscan friars.
