    Description / Table of Contents: Translation of abstract: The collection is devoted to the stratigraphy and paleontology of the Paleozoic West Siberian Plate and its mountain frame. Refined stratigraphic schemes for Paleozoic deposits of the West Siberian Plate and Devonian deposits of the Rudny Altai are proposed, and the Devonian stratigraphic units of Salair, Altai and the Urals are compared. Considerable attention is paid to the systematic description of new species and larger taxa of foraminifera, polychaetes, algae, spores, their use for biostratigraphic division and correlation of Paleozoic deposits is considered, and the issue of the geographical type of fauna is addressed. The book is intended for geologists-stratigraphers, paleontologists, petroleum geologists, specialists in paleogeography and regional geology.

Предлагаются уточненные схемы стратиграфии палеозойских отложений Западно-Сибирской плиты, девонских отложений Рудного Алтая, сопоставляются стратиграфические подразделения девона Салаира, Алтая и Уpaлa. Значительное внимание уделено систематическому описанию новых видов и более крупных таксонов фораминифер, полихет, водорослей, спор, рассматривается применение их для биостратиграфического расчленения и корреляции палеозойских отложений, затрагивается вопрос географического типа фауны. New data on Devonian biostratigraphy of the Tomsk region (from wells), Gorny Altai, and the eastern slope of the Urals are presented; Devonian foraminifera of the Tomsk region, Gorny Altai and the eastern slope of the Urals, stromatoporates of the Tomsk region and conodonts of the Altai Mountains and Salair are described. On the Carboniferous, new data are provided on the stratigraphy of the Zaisan region and the Ekibastuz basin. The publication is intended for a wide range of geologists and paleontologists.

    Description / Table of Contents: Translation of the abstract: The articles in the collection make a certain contribution to the development of a systematic approach to understanding the morphological features of our planet. Their authors came to the conclusion that the classification of relief should be based on the balance principle, since the movement of mineral masses both on the surface of the Earth and in the horizons of the litho- and asthenosphere constitutes the dryness of morphogenesis - the leading form of movement of matter that determines the dynamic state of any geomorphological system and allowing one to predict its stability under the influence of various anthropogenic influences. The book is intended for specialists working in the field of geology, geomorphology and geography.

    Description / Table of Contents: The spectral reflectance of natural snow in the range of 0.20- to about 0.40-micrometers wavelengths was studied in the laboratory using both continuous spectral scanning and fixed bandpass measurements. White barium sulfate pressed powder was used as a standard for comparison. The reflectance of fresh snow was found to be very high (usually nearly 100%) and only weakly wavelength dependent from 0.24 micrometers to the visible range. In the 0.20- to 0.24-micrometers portion of the spectrum, the reflectance was found to be quite erratic. Possible reasons for the irregularities in reflectance measurements are discussed.

    Description / Table of Contents: On 27 March 1964 a major earthquake struck Southern Alaska. The city of Anchorage, which contained a large part of Alaska's population, suffered loss of life and destruction of property. The time of the day, the season, and ground conditions were such that loss of life and property was minimized. The frozen ground and the ice on fresh waster bodies responded to the earthquake shocks in a seldom-observable pattern, which was noted and recorded. Changes of sea level and slides into the sea were responsible for waterfront destruction. It is concluded that the main factor that limited structural damage was the frozen state of the ground.

The analysis is based on the theory of beams on an elastic foundation.
