Brassins—a New Family of Plant Hormones from Rape Pollen

Abstract

WE report the discovery of new hormones, termed brassins, in rape pollen (Brassica napus L.). Following the general practice of designating gibberellins as plant hormones, we speak of brassins as hormones because they are specific translocatable organic compounds isolated from a plant and have induced measurable growth control when applied in minute amounts to another plant.
