Abstract
CLEAR indications that norethynodrel diminishes the chances of survival of the conceptus have been obtained in the rat1,2. It was therefore conceivable that post-coital administration of the steroid could induce sterility in this species. The possibility seemed well worth investigation, as a similar action in humans would appear to offer efficient alternatives to the present contraceptive application of norethynodrel.
