Abstract
HELMHOLTZ long ago remarked that, in the matter of sensation of light, we have to deal with quality well as quantity. That is to say, in physical language, luminous sensation is a vector quantity; and, since experiment indicates that it is a vector quantity three dimensions, tridimensional vectors are appropriate to its geometrical representation.
