Abstract

The line intensity ratio (λMIIλMI) of Be, Mg, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Mo and Eu change with the d.c.-arc temperature (C, CuO, Li2CO3 and KCl matrices). The relation between the electron pressure and the temperature is log Pe(atm) = −27,555T + 52log T − 8.50 and the number of electrons present in the plasma is Ne(cm−3) = 2.32 × 1013T32 exp − 5.40 (eV)kT.

Temperature and electron pressure in the plasmas and in the different layers of the sun can be determined by this method.
