Abstract

A number of ortho-bromophenols were examined as mulls in Nujol or as liquid or solid films. On the basis of the position and intensity of the hydroxyl stretching absorption the compounds studied are classified into four groups. In the case of the Nujol mulls the nature of the OH absorption has been related to the state of the compound in the mull-viz. dispersion as solid, dispersion as liquid droplets, solution or combination of dispersion and solution.
