How good is a Jastrow trial wave function for nuclear matter?

Abstract

We analyse the variance of the Hamiltonian with respect to a Jastrow wave function for extended nuclear matter. Numerical results are presented for a semi-realistic central potential and state independent correlations which are suitably constrained for good cluster convergence.
