Limited streamer tubes for the OPAL hadron calorimeter

Abstract

This paper describes the manufacture of multicell plastic limited streamer chambers for use in the hadron calorimeter of the OPAL detector at LEP. The chambers are of the PVC coverless type with highly resistive cathodes. We discuss the assembly procedure with particular emphasis on the crucial cathode preparation process. A summary of test results is also presented.
