Fullerenes and their applications
2021, Handbook of Carbon-Based NanomaterialsOptical and structural modifications of copper-fullerene nanocomposite thin films by 120 MeV Au ion irradiation
2020, Radiation Physics and ChemistryCitation Excerpt :Metal-Fullerene interaction with different energetic particles has been a topic of extensive research since the discovery of this nano-caged form of carbon (Tsuei et al., 1997; Lu et al., 2004; Hou et al., 1999; Hebard et al., 1994; David et al., 1994). Fullerene C60 and C70 have high electron affinity due to which, they can easily form compound with metals (Avasthi, 1996) and high temperature superconductivity is shown through alkali metal-fulleride (Margadonnan and Prassidesw, 2002; Murphy et al., 1991; Liu et al., 1994). Another interest is to use fullerene with metal in the form of nanocomposite where two materials do not lose their phases and at least one material has at least one dimension in nanometer.
Preparation and superconductivity of potassium-doped fullerene nanowhiskers
2013, Materials Research BulletinCitation Excerpt :As shown in Fig. 4, the shielding volume fraction was saturated at 24 h. On the other hand, in the case of K3.3C60 powder, the superconducting volume fraction was less than 1% by heating at 200 °C for 24 h. Such a small volume fraction of the superconducting KxC60 has already been reported, for example, by Hebard et al. [5] and Murphy et al. [10]. Hebard et al. reported approximately 1% by heating at 200 °C for 36 h. Murphy et al. described that a 1–2% fraction was obtained by heating at 225 °C for 24–48 h and the fraction then increased up to 35% by subsequent heat treatment at 230–265 °C for 21 days.
