Trapping and energy accomodation of atoms on metal surfaces

Abstract

Expressions for the trapping and sticking probability and for the energy accomodation coefficient of atoms on metal surfaces are derived by using a Gaussian form for the distribution of the energy transfer. The results are in good agreement with recent numerical simulation calculations and experiments.
