Abstract

The spin-dependent densities of empty electronic states in iron and nickel are investigated by spin-resolved soft X-ray appearance potential spectroscopy. Model calculations using spin- and angular-momentum-resolved densities of states with appropriate weighting are in rather good agreement with the experimental data.
