Abstract

Rhombohedral and hexagonal phases of Y₂Ni₇ form in narrow composition ranges. Magnetic properties of the two phases are likely to be the same. Both phases show weak itinerant ferromagnetism. Alloys of Y(Ni_1−yCu_y)₅ (y<0.3) show paramagnetic behavior.
