Abstract

Chemical synthesis and crystal growth of laser quality praseodymium pentaphosphate single crystals (PrP5O14) are described. Their space group and unit cell parameters were evaluated by the X-ray method. Also, other physical parameters of the crystal are given. Superradiance and laser emission in the visible were obtained, thus extending the previously observed emission in the infrared from NdP5O14 and NdxLa1-xP5O14 single crystals.
