The cubic phases

Recent papers dealing with lipid cubic phases are discussed. The image reconstruction of freeze-fracture electron micrographs and fluorescence bleaching techniques are the major experimental novelties. The determination of the structure of the phase Q227 (space group Fd3m) is particularly important and confirms an earlier proposal by Charvolin and Sadoc.
